Mesh alternatives for IOS-XE

We have recently migrated most of our wireless infrastructure over from centralized legacy 4404 controllers to a unified/converged
5760/3850 infrastructure. The only legacy equipment we have left are four outdoor mesh access points. (the access points are inside, but
cabled to outdoor antennas. The access points are configured in mesh mode)  It is my understanding that the unified wireless solution
running IOS-XE software does not support mesh access points. What alternatives are there that will maintain our outdoor coverage, that
work with the unified IOS-XE controllers? We would also like to have the outdoor access points integrate with an ISE 1.3 security server
if possible. What are our options?

  • Flash Alternative for developing app with lots of 2D Animation

First let me say, I know Flash does not run on iPad. And I'm not looking for an alternative to Flash Video.
I want to create an app for the iPad, with a lot of full screen, 24 frames-per-second animation. Basically an interactive Animated Movie, like the game Dragon's Lair, from days of yore.
I know how to do this in Flash, using the timeline and drawing and animation tools, and using Actionscript to track user clicks and trigger events in the movie.
Are there any alternative tools I can use for iPad app development, that will allow me to:
-- Draw directly in the tool
-- Do frame by frame animation in the tool
    -- Uses a timeline
-- Uses vector images to keep the file size down
-- Has a scripting language that will allow me to track the user clicking on invisible buttons and trigger new animations?
I've looked at all of Apple's Developer tools for the iPhone and iPad, but they all seem to use Bitmapped Sprites which would make the file size way too big, and animation a nightmare.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Well, there are several 3D game developers for the iOS operating system including EA Sports and id Software's Doom Engine. And in the Apple Software Development Kit for iOS, there are numerous API's for game development. I think you should google game development for the iOS (ipad and iphone), and see what they've got.

  • Is it possible to search for a specific term or data in Numbers for iOS?

I looked for similar questions, but all of the similar questions did not specify if they were talking about the Mac version or the iOS.  So I apologize if the question has been asked.
Is there a way to search for a specific term or criteria in Numbers for iOS?
My father owns a small business and has a large inventory of parts.  He wants a simple way to search his inventory for a particular part number and see how many of a the specific part number he has in his inventory, while not in the shop or having to call in.  He wants to take an iPad along with him.
My first thought was to create an spreadsheet.  I have a basic knowledge of how spreadsheets work, and I don't think my father would like anything more complicated.
I was thinking about making the 1st column list the part number, 2nd column list the quantity in the shop, 3rd column list the quantity in the truck.
If Numbers for iOS is not able to do this, suggestions for alternatives are welcome.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi j4nitor
Would the "Find" option in the "Tools" menu do the job?
If you search for the part number, it will be highlightet, and with your outline for a setup, I guess that would give you the overview you are talking about.
    Hope it helps.
    Best regards

  • Mail for iOS

Mail has gotten worse over the years, in my opinion. I'm looking for a decent email app for iOS that supports IMAP. Mail is the best of a bad lot, but Apple isn't likely to improve it. Yahoo Mail is a joke. I'm glad that my iPad and iPhone could probably run the international space station. For me, I just want to be able to manage email, which seems like a pretty basic ask. Anyone know of a serious contender in this area? A great, robust email app for iOS?

  • Why not have a section in app store for iOS 4.3 and earlier?

I LOVE "remote" app and airport.
Since i have had to restore all my ipods for various reasons, i am now no longer able to download the remote app since apple only supports iOS 5 or later. They have instantly rendered my whole apple setup useless. They are basically telling me that my purchase of their hardware was a mistake and that they only care about people who purchase new things. Which is a great reason not to purchase new things from them.
What i don't understand is why they simply can't put a version of remote (or any app) in the app store for iOS 4.2.1. and earlier? And allow developpers to support their apps for earlier iOS. So little effort to leave 4.2.1 apps in the store. They could even create a special section based on iOS.
Now they are forcing me to consider alternative solutions, of which there are many. I simply would never have bothered to do this before since i was so satisfied with apple products. This is a failure from a business and marketing perspective.

Backing up your current apps helps prevent this loss in the future.   Earlier iOS apps are becoming increasingly difficult to find.  You may want to look at VintApps, new in the Apple app store, that makes this much easier.
    https://www.facebook.com/VintApps313
Although there are thousands of available apps to choose from, they will definitively not be the latest greatest.
I wrote my 99 cent app specifically to help solve this kind of problem.  I need to add that "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link."

  • Fortran code for iOS using GCC cross-compiler

    Hello everyone!
I have some Fortran application, and i want to compile it for iOS. I'm new in iOS development and  as i understand correctly i need to configure GCC (from gcc.gnu.org) with --target=arm-apple-darwin and --enable-languages=c,c++, fortran.
With --target=arm-elf, --target=arm-apple-darwin i got error, that it's not supported.
With --target=arm-none-eabi i got cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile Maybe is that because i'm setting wrong configure parameters.
My question is : what is correct ./confgiure parameters to create gcc cross compiler for iOS platform, which supports FORTRAN.
Is this the only (right?) way to build cross-compiler for iOS platform, or i could use existing LLVM-GCC? Thanks!

    jasonwryan, thanks for the reply,
I've read the ARM Dev Guide as suggested but I don't believe this will do what I'm aiming to achieve. It seems the ARM Dev Guide will install the arm-linux-gnueabi, which allows cross-compiling applications to run on LINUX built for ARM. I need something like arm-none-eabi (or arm-none-gnueabi - the whole naming scheme is a mess at the moment) which is an ARM compiler for "bare metal" ARM devices. I am aiming to program a simple ARM Cortex M4 microcontroller as opposed to an ARM microprocessor running Linux. Hence arm-linux-gnueabi is quite overkill from my understanding and it might even not work.
So, if someone could either confirm that what the ARM Dev Guide suggests is indeed what I need to program a bare metal ARM microcontroller, or recommend an alternative path, it would be very appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Igor

  • Oracle Mobile server for iOS

    Hi,
After going through documentation for Oracle Mobile server, I could not find support for iOS.
Does Oracle mobile server support iOS?
if not is there any plan to do so in the near by future?
    Thanks

Despite many attempts at trying to get an update on this topic I can't seem to get anyone from Oracle to provide any information. I'm now at a critical stage with a new project and would like to know if the Mobile Client will be available for iOS within the timeframes I am looking at. If not, will likely need to look at alternatives which will mean one or more large Mobile Server licences will not be renewed. Surely someone from Oracle on this forum can chime in and give us an update on where this is at?

  • Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

There are also iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, etc., some only support Flash some support Java and Flash.
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and closed their mobile flash division a couple of years ago. You can get Flash on other personal devices but you will be using a 2 year old version that has not been patched for security vulnerabilities.
When the original iPhone was released Mr. Jobs said it would never run Java as it was old technology and a security risk. Nothing has changed since.

  • How to address a specific time in VOD for iOS

Using Flash and RTMP it's easy to go to a specific time in a VOD stream served from AMS using the seek method.
Is there similar ability to seek to a specific time in VOD delivered to Safari on iOS?  The native video player provides a currentTime method, but I've not seen documentation anywhere to suggest currentTime or another method to provide rapid and accurate time based access from AMS.
FWIW, Wowza documentation provides an answer:
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?326-How-to-specify-a-play-start-time-and-duration- for-HTTP-streaming
    TIA,
    RT

Nitin, the link you provided is a bit better than nothing, but it refers to the AVPlayer object in applications, rather than iOS delivered data.  In our experience currentTime is a settable property for the native video player in mobile Safari, using a normal progressive uploaded stream, as the documentation shows:
    http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/AudioVideo/Reference/HTMLMediaEle mentClassReference/HTMLMediaElement/HTMLMediaElement.html
The question is "Are there browser based methods that seek AMS delivered streams more quickly or with better accuracy?"
Everyone is aware that mobile is exploding.  On some of our videocentric apps the share for iOS is approaching 20%.  PM Kevin Towes, what are you doing to accomodate this need???

  • Keyboard issue using Danish keyboard on Remote app for iOS.

    Hi there.
I have noticed a quite annoying issue with the Remote Desktop for iOS when using foreign keyboards along with the Remote Desktop app.
The PC I'm remoting to from my iPad Air is a Windows 7 machine with an English Windows.
I have a danish keyboard layout installed, and have removed the English keyboard.
But.. Here comes the strange issue.
If I connect via Remote Desktop before I log into my PC (from my PC), the special characters like :;/*^%}{ ect. works just fine on my iPad.
If I then log on to my PC from the PC, the keyboard on the PC has been changed to english, even though there's no english keybord layout installed on my PC.
The special characters like the danish æøå has been changed out with ; and other wrong characters.
I then have to press CTRL+SHIFT on my PC to change it back to the danish layout.
But... If I do so on my PC and afterwards connect via the Remote Desktop app on my iPad Air, the keyboard is messed up on my iPad.
All the special characters like /:;)(^#%{ is placed wrong and give me a wrong character.
And that happens even if I change the keyboard on my iPad to English.
I really hope you will be able to fix this in a future update enabling full support for foreign keyboards between iOS7 and Windows 7.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Why are the characters mixed up in the session?
This issue can occur if the keyboard language has been switched on the remote PC while running a remote desktop session. In the case you would like to switch to a different keyboard language
    follow these instructions.
Note: The remote PC selects the system language of the device running the remote desktop client and not the keyboard language. When switching the keyboard language on your device, you need
to manually switch the keyboard language on the remote PC.
    1. Open settings on your device.
    2. Tap General and then tap International.
    3. Tap Language and select the language running on the remote PC.
    4. Open the RD Client and connect to the remote PC and check if the Windows keyboard language matches the language that you selected.

  • Eos remote app for iOS

The idea was great, however the development seems to be stopped on this.
It hasn't been updated since Dec of last year.
Will there be a new version of EOS Remote app for iOS?
Features I'd like to see from the upgrade (if there's any)
    1) Full size image transfer
    2) Video file transfer
    3) Indicate if a file is already downloaded to the phone or not.
    Thanks,

    Hi rmpark!
    Thanks for posting.
The EOS Remote App currently works with up to iOS version 7.  I am not sure if or when the next version of the app will be released, or what features will be added to it, but I have forwarded your suggestions along.  This feedback is very important to Canon.  Please continue to check in the app store from time to time for any updated versions that may be released.

  • Is there any downside mixing Objective-C with C++ for iOS apps?

I'd like to use C++ since it's fast and more dynamically in memory reference.
Is there any downside mixing Objective-C with C++ for iOS apps?
When googled for info, I only found tutorials about how to let xcode compile Objective-C with C++.
    Thanks for help.

Both Objective-C and C++ are (more or less) extensions of C.
C supports manipulation of pointers and casting of pointers, this implies that both Objective-C and C++ will be able to manipulate C data like arrays, structs ...
Objective-C has classes like NSData to read/write blocks of bytes from/to file and to access ranges of bytes when the data is loaded into memory.
C++ probably has similar classes (I'm not well versed in C++ so I don't know).
If you want to look into using C++ you will probably want to look at Objective-C++, the link below has links to docs on how to use C++ with Objective-C:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3684112/what-is-objective-c
Thanks for the info, NSData does what I need.
A replied in the link also mentioned that he's using C++ in his application too. As long as I'm aware of memory management (prevent memory leaks, etc) as @disguise said, it should be fine.
@etresoft indeed, but C is the base language of ObjC, there are ways to deal with.
