Message all OS X machines on the network

Guys, please help.
Is it possible to send a message which would pop up on the targets screen with AppleScript.
if you are famililar with windows i need something similar to winpopup or netsend (via dos)
Any help would help, i honestly have not got a clue where to start.

Right,
All the taget machines need to run iChat. This can be done by have iChat in Login items in All the taget machines.
These target machines will show up on your iChat Bonjour buddies list -it's the magic of Bojour-. You can manually send text message to all target machines.
Or, you can script it. Here is a simple script:
set the_message to "test" -- this is the message you send out
set computer_name to computer name of (system info)
tell application "iChat"
set bonjour_account to id of accounts whose (id contains "Bonjour" and id does not contain computer_name) -- this get all Bonjour client, but you
repeat with _account in bonjour_account
send the_message to accounts whose id is _account -- send out the_message
end repeat
end tell

Excellent apple networking on Lion or ML is usually the issue.
Reboot the TC.. if that don't fix it.. reboot the whole network.. modem.. router.. TC.. clients.. restart in that order.
There are tools.. download the real tool if you have lion..
For ML you are stuck with toyland.. AU 6.1 .. good luck with the plastic hammer.

That may be what is a fairly common problem of 2 devices mistakenly assigned the same address. Try shutting off all of the devices connected to your router, reboot the router and then the devices connected to it.

The same story. No 3G after updating to 6.1. Told my daughter temporarily not to do an update on her iPad with 6.01. We've exchanged SIMs. I inserted her SIM in my iPad - 3G appeared immediately. And my SIM in her iPad with ios 6.01 also WORKS FINE. We use the same provider - Megafon Moscow. After attempting to revert SIMs to original configuration, 3G disappeared on my iPad again. Don't know what's going on with SIM during the update to 6.1

Time Machine over the Network: Terribly Slow

I've been using Time Machine for over 3 years now with no issues over the network; the destination being a 2TB external Seagate connected to another iMac connected through gigabit ethernet. Everything has been working flawlessly: Every hour Time Machine would MOUNT the sparseimage it created on the disk, BACKUP the data and UNMOUNT the disk image when finished.
Until I upgraded to Lion. The above process is still working per se, however it is PAINFULLY slow! A 50MB backup can take up to AN HOUR! Searching around on the net, advised that there could be an issue with Spotlight as well, however this is not the case for me, since Spotlight finished a new index in under 30 mins. Followed every tutorial I could find on the issue, to no avail..
I then upgraded to Mountain Lion with the hope that the issue will clear itself. Cleared my old backups, resetted Time Machine by erasing its .plist file, restarted my iMac just to make sure and connected Time Machine to the network share anew, creating a "sharing only" account on the host iMac, i.e. the one that has the external HD connected through USB. Still no luck.
I painfully realize that I still have the same issue. While backing up, network traffic is under 100KB, and activity monitor does not show any backupd or mds or any similar processes taking anything over 3% of CPU time.
What could be wrong?

Tries on the other iMac (also running 10.8.2) and things are exactly the same: Image creation takes almost half an hour, and copying crawls at under 1MB/min. While time machine image is mounted and Time Machine is "backing up", accessing ANY disk on the host Mac is VERY slow. Seems like something hogs up appleshare when Time Machine is in use. Mind you, there is insignificant network traffic as seen by Activity Monitor, as well as insignificant CPU usage while backing up.
Stopping backup and using tmutil to set the Time Machine destination to the mounted image as mounted by Finder, solves the issue again, revving up Time Machine throughput to over 20MB/sec! There is also no issues acessing the other Mac as well, under this scenario.
Up to this point, the only way I have managed to use Time Machine over a networked external HD is through the NAS server. Both configurations where I am using a Mac running 10.8.2 as a server of the external disk have failed with very low throughput while backing up. Something must be wrong in 10.8.2's afp when Time Machine is mounting the image by itself.
I may need to remind you that I have been successfully backing up to the external HD for 4 years now; something broke a few months after the client iMac was upgraded to Lion and at the time when the host iMac was upgraded to Mountain Lion. Will try to locate a Mac running some later OS X version to do some more testing.
Also reminding that I have used two distinctive iMacs and two external HD drives for my tests so far. The client iMac has remained the same, however 10.8.2 has been reinstalled on it a couple of times. Have also used an afp-enabled NAS server which worked fine with Time Machine.

With the number of reports in the last few days it may be server overload - if so trying during a time of lower activity might help

You can reset the phone and it won't cause any problems or cause you to lose any data - Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears.
The other thing you should do is to reset your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will have to set up your Wifi again, but that oftentimes clears things up.

HT3275 Time Machine gave me this message after updating to Mountion Lion "The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features."

After upgrading to Mountain lion, I got this message when it tried to backup to "MybookLive" network disk.
"The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features."
What are AFP features and why can I now not back up to my network disk?

I had a similar issue when I tried to do a network-share backup w Time machine when the share was on a Leopard OSX G5 Power PC.
I think Time Machine looks for a minimum feature set support from the afp mounted drives so they can be used with Time Machine.
Western Digital may have to update the firmware on your device to support the new afp features.

When trying to use the apps message received is not connected to the network

My printer is connected and I can print from the ipad and the laptop, but when I try to use one of the apps to print something. I get an error message that the printer in not connected to the network. I have tried all the trouble shooting tips and when printing out the wireless network test results, it says no problems found. Please help, this is a brand new printer purchased on 08/30/2012.

I believe I have the same problem. I get "Server Connection Error: -1". This only occurs on weekends (Sunday). Is this because someone turns off the server on the weekends?
There is nothing available to describe what this error message means.

Windows machines on the network

I just installed Leopard... so still new to the environment.
I think it's cool to have other computers on my network easily accessible from the sidebar, but my sole Windows XP Professional Dell machine is not. It's there in the sidebar, but I get a Failure Connecting message when I click on it. I previously was able to connect to the internal C-drive of that computer, plus an external F-Drive.
What do I need to re-configure to fix that?

I am also still having problems writing files from my Mac (running Leopard 10.5.1) to mounted Windows drives -- both folders on the Windows 2003 server (SMB/NTFS) at work and the Windows XP virtual machine (NTFS/Parallels) on my Mac.
1. Any type of account: reading and copying from Windows to Mac works OK.
2. Guest account on mounted Windows shared folder: writing (dragging and dropping) from Mac to Windows works OK (this was problematic in 10.5.0, but is fixed in 10.5.1).
3. Authenticated user on mounted Windows folder: writing (dragging and dropping) from Mac to Windows does *NOT work*. Leopard stalls when copying files (> 4kb) to Windows, sometimes producing a -36 error code (stating that the Finder cannot complete the operation because some data cannot be read or written). I cannot even connect to my virtual machine as an authenticated user. I am always logged in as a guest even after choosing the "Connect as" option.
4. Dragging and dropping files directly into a running Parallels virtual machine (thus not via the mounted drive) works OK.
Interesting enough, I had not problems copying data from my Mac running Leopard to our old Windows 2000 server, which was replaced by the 2003 machine more than a week ago. So, this seems to be a Leopard - XP/2003 issue.
When having to back up data from my local Mac to the Windows 2003 server, I just drop files into Parallels and use the virtual machine for Windows networking.
Apple, please fix this.

HT5192 Update to iOS5.1, error message says can't connect to the network

I'm unable to update my iPad2 and iPhone 4 with the new iOS 5.1. I'm continually getting an error message that says, "There was a problem downloadng the software for the iPad. The network connection could not be established". And yes my internet is on and working!

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
You may have multiple entries. Delte them all.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
The receiving email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

Just installed iOS 7.0.4 on the ipad, and can no longer connect to my home locked wifi. I choose the home wifi network and the message comes back with Unable to join the network "............" Dismiss. There is no prompt for the password for the locked network. . . . Any suggestions . . . . .
