Metadata automation....

I have a problem that I can't seem to tackle and I don't know if its possible or not within Adobes CS.
Here it is.....The photog takes a series of images and I need to have some of the metadata changed to sequential numbers.
I have created a custom xmp file and created the necessary fields that are static and can be applied to all of the photos in one fell swoop through Bridge, but I have a single field that I want to have a three digit number that is added in sequence.
Within the Batch options its all about file names and extensions.
Actions run one process only and doesn't make sequential changes as far as I can tell.
FYI-The xmp file has a field for Photog, Model, Agency, Capture Number, and then there is Job Number, and this field I want to be able to take a Folder, ie: shoes, and have that one field changed to 001, 002, 003, etc......
So is it just not possible to make the Metadata info dynamic like this through automation?
Thanks in advance.....

I might have found the solution. In the Administration Pane > Response > [Your copy response] > Copy tab:
there is a checkbox for Create Asset, which seems to be the culprit, as I've disabled all Scans, Schedules, Watchers for my FTP location. I guess the purpose of this is that some Automations with copy responses are configured to delete the original when done, and maybe the Create Asset checkbox is so that the new copied file gets cataloged into FC Svr when the copy is complete. In the case of posting to an FTP site, it is certainly redundant to create an asset for a post. The "infinite loop" was because my copy response/create asset was configured to set the status as "Approved," which was my trigger for the response.
So, in conclusion, the "Create Asset" checkbox can be disabled completely, or if you only want to catalog the copied asset ONCE, make sure to set the status to something like "Completed."
Does this solve anyone else's problem?

  • Essbase Analytics Link 11.1.2.2.301

    I implemented EAL, and it appears to work fine.  I have a few questions:
    1. Metadata automation - John Goodwin mentioned in another post that it could be done using Web Services in EAL.  I couldn't find anything on this point.  Any specific guidance is highly appreciated!
    2. HFM allows duplicates, but Essbase is normally configured without duplicates.  In such case, EAL will rename duplicate members and duplicate aliases.  For example, if both the member name and its alias are duplicated, EAL renames them as follows:  MemberName will be renamed to Dimension.MemberName, and Member Alias will be renamed to MemberAlias (MemberName).  It looks really ugly on reports, to the point it may be unacceptable.  An alternative would be to allow duplicates in Essbase, but the maintenance of that animal may be even worse.  Any thoughts on this?
    3. I will also use the extracted data in the Planning App, that has a little different dimensionality.  What is the most efficient way to transfer data (not metadata) from cube to cube - xref, maxl extract and load, etc.?
    Thank you in advance!
    Igor

    Correct me if I am wrong but it sounds like you have just downloaded EAL and not the Oracle universal installer.
    You can download the OUI 11.2 from Oracle Support - Patch 9944828
    The OUI needs to be 32bit even if you installing 64bit EAL on windows

  • Loading metadata into EPMA applications using Interface tables-Automation

    Hi,
    I am loading the metadata into epma applications using interface tables as ODI dont perit to load metadata into epma applications. Is there any way of using ODI and interface tables together to load the metadata
    This process also need to be automated.

    Hi,
    It is certainly possible and has be done, though there is not anything available that will do it for you, you will have to put in some effort learning the structure of the interface tables, then build interfaces and then a package in ODI to streamline the process.
    Cheers

  • Automated MetaData Load

    Greetings,
    I'm curious to know how some of the users in this forum perform automated metadata load against dimensions in the Shared Library (and subsequently against any EPMA Planning apps). We have several apps whose dimensions are shared amongst various Planning apps which are updated manually when the dataload fails because of missing members. These are updated manually on a monthly basis due to the relative mall number of missing members.
    However, we are building an app with a dimension that is quite dynamic (a lot of new members are added and a few are deleted). This woud be insane to perform manually to update the Shared Library. Thus I'm looking for any suggestions on how to automate this via batch file or via any other means, including using "Create Member Properties".
    Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly welcomed...
    Many thanks.

    CG,
    .err genrates only when
    no proper names for member
    no proper alise name .. while data loading...etc etc
    These things can also be achived via some programing langague ... like java .. but u need to know all the possible error and your programme should be able to find out where it has gone wrong so that it can rebuild if any new member or child is missing via data load
    unix > u can use SED functions to do that which will find and replace any possible outcomes
    itb happen to me some time back where i used Java to replace some mmebr which used to get rejected while data loading .. but it was like specific butin ur case u have to know all possible outcomes ...

  • Using Automator to change metadata in iphoto

    Hi,
    I've read about difficulties with Automator and iPhoto, however I was hoping there is some way to automate these things.
    Noticing this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=700185&#700185

    I'd greatly appreciate any help!

  • Using Automator to Add Metadata from Folder Structure

    I have a huge set of .wav files organized in a folder structure like this:
    Artist->Album->Song
    I am trying to write an Automator workflow to import each song into iTunes whilst adding Artist and Album metadata.  I can get the workflow to work for a single artist with a single nested album, but multiple nested albums result in Artist and Album tags which are concatenated versions of all the artist and album names.  This is my workflow:
    I'm using variables to store the artist name and album name.  Somehow, when this gets to "Set Info of iTunes Songs", the artist and album info gets concatenated.  Any ideas much appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Terminal command equivalent to Automator's 'set metadata pdf'

    Hi,
    When I make pdf docs I sometimes want to erase my name from the Author metadata, and put something into Title and so on.
    I know that Automator has an action called set pdf metadata, which I have successfully used.  But I would like a Terminal command that I could use instead.
    Googling this question returns suggestions of downloading pdf-manipulation libraries which are too elaborate for me to use.  I'm hoping that Automator is simply utilising a terminal command already built-in.
    Is there such a command?
    Diddles

    A bit of experimenting.
    Given a file temp.pdf in the current working directory . . .
    xattr -w "com.apple.metadata:kMDItemAuthors" "diddles1234" temp.pdf
    writes the string "diddles1234" to the Authors metadata field of temp.pdf.
    xattr -w "com.apple.metadata:kMDItemTitle" "newmetatitle" temp.pdf
    writes the string "newmetatitle" to Title metadata field of temp.pdf.
    However, if you try to put spaces into the string like this:
    xattr -w "com.apple.metadata:kMDItemTitle" "new meta title" temp.pdf
    the title field will not be changed to "new meta title". In fact, if you start with "original title" as the value of kMDItemTitle, successfully change it to "newmetatitle", and then later try to change it again to "new meta title", the value of kMDItemTitle reverts to "original title". The OS appears to "forget" the intermediate change to "newmetatitle".
    As best I can figure, in the event of a failed xattr write command, the original kMDItemTitle is rebuilt from semi-redundant data within the PDF--but more experimentation would be required to prove it. (The same is true of kMDItemAuthors, by the way.) Quick take away: The first two commands above will work if you don't use spaces in the strings to be inserted into the metadata fields. Someone more proficient in UNIX may have a better solution or explanation.

  • Metadata Subscription Automation Problem ...

    I set up a Metadata Subscription Automation/Watch Assets workflow.
    I first added a "transcode now" reference to the Lookup/Metadata Asset Status group. My goal is to generate a transcode job and subsequent upload to a web server (or to a local folder) when asset staus is changed to "transcode now."
    Criteria as follows:
    - status ... changes
    - status ... matches ... transcode now
    I inserted a Copy response, and pointed to the configured device[s].
    After setup, time to test. I changed the status of a logged asset to "transcode now" and walked away for 10 minutes. When I returned to my desk the job was still running. There were about 15 copies (duplicates) of the output file in the destination device and, counting. I could see the automation complete and restart continuously in the Search All Jobs status window.
    Anyone else experiencing this? I can't find any setting that would sort of turn on/off repetitive automation.
    thanks.

  • Automating XMP Metadata in Illustrator CS4

    How do I use actions or scripting within Illustrator CS4 on the Mac to automatically copy all of the text within an Illustrator pasteboard and paste it into the Keyword XMP Metadata field under File Info.
    I've tried Select/Text objects, then Copy (Cmd-C), File Info (Shift-Cmd-Opt-I), Paste (Cmd-V after clicking in the Keyword field), OK.
    It works fine manually, but the File Info sequences are not saved in the action.
    Thanks for any help I can get.

    I guess this is not feasible via Actions, but possible through JavaScripting. You may try that. Hope information helps.

  • Automating the adding of metadata in Illustrator

    Hi All
    I need to add metadata into the 'File info' keywords field within Illustrator. This data exists as text within the Illustrator document and I am looking for an easy way to automate adding certain areas of text into the 'keyword' fields.
    I hope someone can help
    Tony

    Hey Tony - Are you familiar with using Bridge?
    If you have existing files that you want to add metadatat to - you can select all the files you wish to edit and add keywords to all of them at once using Bridge.
    Go up to Tools > Create Metadata Template
    Input the data you want to use for the template there and name the template
    Click Save and go back to the regular Bridge interface
    Select one or multiple files to apply the metadata to
    Go to Tools > Replace Metadata OR Tools > Append Metadata and select your template.
    From there, you can get a little fancy and create a Metadata template (if you're applying the same metadata to a large number of things, this is immensely helpful.)
    Jump back over to Illustrator. If you go to the "File Info" box, you'll find your metadata template in the little popup box in the bottom right-hand corner by the "Cancel" and "Ok" buttons.  (You can also create new metadata templates here, too.)
    Select it. You can apply it to one document at a time this way.
    IF you really want to get fancy - let's say you frequently create the same sort of document and always want the same metadata applied - create a template. The metadata goes with it and you'll apply it without having to think about it.
    Side note:
    Anyone have any luck getting saving metadata into an Action? I haven't been able to get that to work but if it did, that would be great for this.

    appreciating help
    Thanks

    Hi Subbu,
    I posted how to load dimensions into planning from sql server in my blog.
    http://dornakal.blogspot.com/2009/02/load-dimension-members-into-planning.html
    after developing this you have to create an executible file to run HAL job.
    you can call the executible file from batch file and can schedule batch file.
    hope this helps.

  • Options for Automating Metadata

    Looking for options to automate the load of metadata to HFM. Are there batch commands to load or would we need to load via some utility?
    Thanks

    Managed to sort this out to satisfy the initial requirement of setting up and scheduled archive.
    Created a command.hda file with the following contents:
    @Properties LocalData
    IdcService=EXPORT_ARCHIVE
    IDC_Name=idc
    aArchiveName=AutomatedArchive
    dataSource=RevisionIDs
    @end
    <<EOD>>
    Created a batch file:
    @echo off
    C:\oracle\ucm\server\bin\idccommand -f command.hda -u sysadmin -l log.txt -c server
    Using Windows Scheduler I set the batch file to run at the desired interval.
    Cheers!
