Metadata Subscription Automation Problem ...

I set up a Metadata Subscription Automation/Watch Assets workflow.
I first added a "transcode now" reference to the Lookup/Metadata Asset Status group. My goal is to generate a transcode job and subsequent upload to a web server (or to a local folder) when asset staus is changed to "transcode now."
Criteria as follows:
- status ... changes
- status ... matches ... transcode now
I inserted a Copy response, and pointed to the configured device[s].
After setup, time to test. I changed the status of a logged asset to "transcode now" and walked away for 10 minutes. When I returned to my desk the job was still running. There were about 15 copies (duplicates) of the output file in the destination device and, counting. I could see the automation complete and restart continuously in the Search All Jobs status window.
Anyone else experiencing this? I can't find any setting that would sort of turn on/off repetitive automation.

I might have found the solution. In the Administration Pane > Response > [Your copy response] > Copy tab:
there is a checkbox for Create Asset, which seems to be the culprit, as I've disabled all Scans, Schedules, Watchers for my FTP location. I guess the purpose of this is that some Automations with copy responses are configured to delete the original when done, and maybe the Create Asset checkbox is so that the new copied file gets cataloged into FC Svr when the copy is complete. In the case of posting to an FTP site, it is certainly redundant to create an asset for a post. The "infinite loop" was because my copy response/create asset was configured to set the status as "Approved," which was my trigger for the response.
So, in conclusion, the "Create Asset" checkbox can be disabled completely, or if you only want to catalog the copied asset ONCE, make sure to set the status to something like "Completed."
Does this solve anyone else's problem?

All-seeing metadata subscription?

Time for Brian's dumb question of the day...
I'm trying to create a metadata subscription that gets triggered anytime metadata changes on an object (to write a new XML file...)
Unfortunately, most of the metadata changes would be happening in a custom metadata field, so they don't show up on any of the filter lists, so I can't add them, as far as I know.
Is it not possible or (the more likely option...) am I just not looking in the right place?

You can add custom metadata field to the "Asset Filter" metadata group.
Login to FCSvr
Go to Administration
Select Metadata Group
Search for "Asset Filter"
Add the custom metadata fields that you want to subscribe to via your subscription.
Save changes.
Either logout and re login FCSvr or select "New Workspace"
Notice, the Advanced Search area of FCSvr now has you newly added custom metadata fields.
Modify your Subscription to now subscribe to these metadata fields.
Hope this works.

Automation Problem - Desperate Help Needed

Was wondering if anyone can help or has had the sameproblem?
I have nearly finished a remix project in Logic and I amcoming to the final stages of automating effects etc.
All of a sudden, my automation is not recording on certain tracks.
I am simply trying to automate the cut-off on the Filterplug-in, but have subsequently realised that it is also happening with volume and any other type of automation.
I thought it might be something to do with the massive synth– but the same is happening with the EXS and ES2 etc.
I have done a lot of testing and opened up a new project andcopied over the settings and midi-regions and automation records absolutely fine!
I even tried to get round it by sending the output to a bus and effecting the bus then trying to automate the bus once adding to the arrange! No Joy! Still failed?!
It seems that it is a bug within my project?!
A black line appears and even if I try and manually drawautomation the line just disappears.
It is definitely not what I am doing, as I have replicated the process in a fresh project and it works fine.
Are you only allowed so many channels of automation?
Funnily, during my testing when I try and delete the trackto start a fresh – it says – 'Do you want to delete automation'! but there isclearly none on display and I am not hearing any!
It feels like a bug – but wondered if anyone else had any issues?
It is only affecting certain tracks, but I cannot see a correlation between them?!
I am about to start replicating everything in a new project! Huge job – but I need to automate forthe final mix and its due by Friday – I am really frustrated by this!
Can Apple help me?

I haven't seen this behavior before, but it sounds like a corrupted file. It doesn't happen often, but it does, and can happen.
If you are not having similar problems in a new template, than moving everything over to a new session would be advised, at this point.
Logic 9's new track import feature will make this A LOT easier than it ever was.
Read up on how this is done, but you should be able to copy EVERYTHING over to a new session in one swoop

In a document library : group by view and manage metadata filter & Navigation problem

Hi all, I encounter a problem when configuring a document library using a group by view and in combination with the Managed Metadata filtering and
navigation :
- all the documents appear under my group by, even the ones that does not correspond
- In the other hand, the number in brackets shows the correct number of documents that should be shown

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to use a group by view and combine with the Managed Metadata filtering and navigation in a document library
to show the corresponding documents with the correct numbers in SharePoint 2013.
In my SharePoint 2013, I created a view which was group by two columns and combine with the Metadata Navigation Hierarchies and Key Filters some fields in a document
library. As a result, it showed only items matching the filter values.
So, I recommend that you can follow the steps to implement it in your environment.
Step1: Enable Metadata Navigation and Filtering:
Metadata Navigation and Filtering is a Site Feature that has to be activated for this to work.
And, the Metadata Navigation and Filtering feature is enabled by default on most sites.
If it is not enabled for your site, you can enable it on the Site Features pages for your site.
You must be a Site Owner or a Site Collection Administrator to enable Metadata Navigation and Filtering.
1. Go to “Site Settings” and click “Manage site features” under Site Actions.
2. Find “Metadata Navigation and Filtering” in the Features list and click “Activate”.
Step2:
Configure Metadata Navigation:
You must have a least the Manage Lists permission level to configure metadata navigation for a list or library.
1. Open the document library for which you want to configure metadata navigation.
2. Go to “Library Settings” of the document library and click “Metadata navigation settings” under “General Settings”.
3. In the Configure Navigation Hierarchies section, select the field or fields you want to display in the navigation hierarchy and then click “Add”.
4. By default, Folders are automatically displayed in the navigation hierarchy. If you do not want folders to display, select Folders, and then click Remove.
5. In the Configure Key Filters section, select the fields you want to add as Key Filters, and then click “Add”.

Step3: Set a group by two columns by modifying view in the document library:

Go back to the document library, apply Navigation Hierarchies and Key Filters to do a test in your environment.

Automator problem parsing variable as filename in disc image

Dear apple/automator forum.
I have just recently started using Automator, and i am experiencing a little problem which im hoping to get a helping hand with.
First, heres my screenshot (sorry its in danish, ill explain what iwe done): www.bergsorensen.dk/screenshot.png
- As for text
- Set new variable
- Get finder items
- New disc iamge from finder items (variable as filename)
I made a service which creates a new disc image of the selected finder items. Now, "in front" of that, i wanted a dialog box, where you could type the name of the new disc image - filename.
The creating disc image flow works perfectly, though i cant get the dialog box to parse the variable as name to the disc image.
Any suggestions?

You might want to update your forum settings, since your screenshot indicates you are running *Snow Leopard's Automator*.
The problem seems to be that you are mixing the text from your dialog with the input items - note that any selected items are already passed to the service, so you don't have to use additional actions to get the input. You just need to add a few actions to save and restore the original input when getting your other variable(s):
1) *Set Value of Variable* { Variable: _Original Input_ } -- save the input items
2) *Ask for Text* ( *Ignore Input* ) -- get a name for the disk image
3) *Set Value of Variable* { Variable: _Image Name_ } -- now we can use this variable in other actions
4 *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: _Original Input_ } ( *Ignore Input* ) -- get the input items back
5) *New Disk Image* { (drag _Image Name_ variable to the "Volume name" and "Save as" fields) }

Rhapsody music subscription transfer problems since updating DroidX to Gingerbread?

Since upgrading the DroidX to Gingerbread (2.3.3), the downloading of subscription music from Rhapsody has been highly unstable. Before that, it worked fine.
With extensive effort, I've gotten a few hundred songs transferred (about 13 playlists). But the 14th playlist froze during transfer, with error codes like 0xc00d2772 and other "general error" messages.
Once the problem starts, I can't transfer any more playlists successfully without 'purging everything' and starting from scratch.
BTW - I'm using the "sideloading" technique (not Rhapsody's Android app, which has also been slow and/or unreliable, but that's a different story).
I've tried numerous suggestions from various forums - too many to list. I called both Verizon and Rhapsody, who suggested various cleanup processes, downloading smaller playlists, downloading the tracks to my computer before transferring them to the phone, and other measures. These suggestions seemed to help.....but not for long. The problem always returns.
I've noticed numerous gripes about Gingerbread, and I suspect it might be the root cause of this problem. I can transfer music to 2 other non-android phones and my old Zen MP3 player.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Is it a Gingerbread problem? (I don't see it on d.harris' list of Gingerbread bugs https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/51997). Is this problem recognized by the developers? Is a fix in the pipeline? When might it be expected?   Wouldn't Verizon and/or Rhapsody have a vested interest, and put pressure on Motorola to get this addressed? Thanks.

Save Metadata to File Problem

This is really puzzling me .... In Catalogue Settings, I have 'Automatically write changes into XMP' NOT ticked. When I want to save, I Select All and then 'Save Metadata to File' . However, most of the time this only saves the 'Most Selected' image, it does not create/write to XMP for all the selected files? However, I know this is meant to save to all the selected files and I also know that sometimes it does/has saved all the XMP files for me. I cannot figure out why sometimes it saves all the files and sometime only the 'most selected' ? I have tried in both Library and Develop Modules. Is there a reason for this or is it some kind of bug?
I'm using Lightroom Ver. 3 on a Mac. But I also used to have the same problem on Version 2 as well.

Automator problem--action works OK in Workflow but not in iCal Plug-In

The "Find To Dos in iCal" action works fine when executed from a Workflow within Automator, but fails to produce results when executed as a plug-in from within iCal. Specifically, I'm using "Due Date is Next Week" as the selection criteria and when executed from the workflow all to dos with due dates in the next 7 days are found, but no to dos are found when executed as a plug-in.
I assume this is a Leopard bug, so I've submitted an Automator Bug Report.
Does anyone have a solution or work-around for this problem?

Metadata special characters problem

You would be forgiven for thinking it easy to add a caption for each image to identify the photographer and her credentials. Metadata is there for that purpose and the IPTC "Author" field seems an obvious choice.
However, most letters-after-your-name will contain special characters eg.
Gordon Bennett FRPS; MPAGB; EFIAP/b.
and these cause huge problems to the Adobe products that seem to have gone un guided.
If these are entered into the Metadata in the File Info panel in say Photoshop or Bridge they are recorded correctly. When reading the Metadata from file in Lightroom (Vista version) however, only the text up to the first semicolon in the above example is transferred. The same problem occurs with the slash. Thus all the Lightroom modules work on incomplete data.
(I have neither special character set as a keyword seperator in Preferences).
Is there some coding tag that can be wrapped round this text to ensure it is published correctly by the web module ?

Thanks very much for your comments.
In Preferences>File Handing I have de-selected the option to have Lightroom use forward slash as a keyword seperator. My understanding is that therefore it should not do so.
Do you mean that Vista overrides this? or is it simply the Vista version of Lightroom that is doing it.
I had noticed that if a comma is used to seperate keywords that both Bridge and Photoshop replaces them with semicolons and it seems that you cannot prevent this.
Do you know something about how this mechanism works and if it can be varied?
As for an answer to your question of "what shows up in the fileds" I don't think you can tell. Although you can in Bridge/Photoshop by examining the File Info panel, in Lightroom it just disappears into the "catalogue" and cannot be examined. It is displayed of course in the Lr metadata panel but that is where we started, with truncated fields !! However if you save the apparently truncated metadata xmp in Lr then force a read again in Bridge, the full data seems to still be there. Thus it would seem this is a problem specific to Lr and the way it displays metadata containing special characters.
Any further info on the Vista issue would be very welcome.

XML Metadata import - Memory Problem

I am trying to import metadata through "extras->XML Import\Export" Option giving the path to XML file (file:D:\RSAD_C07.xml). It has parsed the file and saved some objects but half-way it stopped with the error that I pasted below. Its an 8GB RAM server and we are not running any other processed. CPU utilization is around 15%. I am not able to understand why this is happening. Please advise me on what to do.

i am not too familiar with the XML part, but anyway this does not appear to be the problem. What i understand is that you are using a frontend dialog process for uploading the XML stuff. in this case it actually does not matter how much RAM you have installed in total, because the single dialog work process has only a fraction of total RAM assigned as working memory. hence my recommendation is to cut the XML file into smaller packets for import.
maybe you can tell us details once you are successfully done with the case?

QuickTime 7.6 export automator problem

Hi,
I have been using QT 7.5.5 an automator workflow to export screenshots from multiple .mov files. This worked perfectly. I upgraded to 7.6 today, and I get the following error message:
"This script requires QuickTime 5.0 or greater.
Current QuickTime version: 1290.0
Current QuickTime Player version: 7.6"
How can i fix this? Can I roll back to version 7.5.5? If so, how?

I am having the same problem. Do you know if there is a way to switch back to QT 7.5.5 until the action is updated?

DI Metadata Integrator install problems

Environment: BOE BO XI r2 SP4 installed on windows server A with an Oracle dB
Data Integrator 11.5 is installed on a windows server B
we have also installed the BOE components, designer, webi, etc on server B.
Problem: When we try to install DI metadata integrator on server B, I get the following error:
'...path not found'
when i try to run the cmsConfig.cmd file from dos i get the same error.
I have checked and see all the jar files. Any help would be appreciated

Measurement & Automation Problem I think?

Hello, have two seperate computers running the same software, one has vb6 installed.
I have a labview program and vb6 program that does pretty close to the same thing.
I set up a task in M&A with 2 temperatures. Voltages are the problem.
They run fine in vb6 with a voltage of around .25 on one computer.
I switch the usb cable of a daqpad6015 and the voltages changed to .14 and .09 on the other computer inside m&a and labview.
I am also taking 2 pressure and flows in the same task which have equivelent voltages between computers.
Whats happening.

The funny thing is if I unplug the usb cable and then plug it back in, the correct voltage is displayed in m&A for a split second and then drops to the errored voltage.

I just want to make sure I understand the situation: You have a single DAQPad-6015 for USB with two different cables, and you are connecting it to different computers (only one at a time, back and forth). You have a VB6 program on one computer and a LabVIEW program on the other computer, each performing the same tasks. This task is comprised of 2 AI Temperature channels, 2 AI Pressure channels, and 1 AI Flow channel. When reading from the VB6 computer with cable #1, you read .25V on temperature channel 1. When reading from the LabVIEW computer with cable #2, you read .14V on temperature channel 1. Is that correct?
I would suggest reading from Measurement & Automation explorer on both computers from the DAQPad-6015 with cable #1, then doing the same thing (reading from Measurement & Automation explorer on both computers from the DAQPad-6015), but this time with cable #2. This will eliminate the variable of the software application being used. If both cables are working properly, you should see the same readings on each computer. If they are different, it sounds like one of the cables could be faulty.
Also note that if you are taking temperature readings, slight variations in temperature will cause changes in the voltage read in. So if these computers are in different rooms, the difference in reading could be due to the difference in temperature between rooms.
Please verify that I understand your setup and give that a try. Let me know if you are still having trouble...

Preflight Droplet/Acrobat Startup Automation Problems

We're experiencing some problems regarding preflight droplets not being executed for some instances when the Acrobat XI application
(Acrobat Pro XI and Windows XP) is not yet opened before the preflight droplet is executed (Acrobat is started/opened due to the preflight droplet call but it doesn't execute the preflight droplet anymore).
If Acrobat is not yet opened and we executed the droplet, Acrobat opens and loads but the preflight action is not executed (we waited for a long time thinking Acrobat is still warming up but nothing really happens), we tried executing preflight droplet again (with the opened faulty Acrobat) and still does nothing. We needed to close Acrobat and reopen manually before we execute the preflight droplet for it to work again. Note that we are executing the preflight droplet using the commandline using our program (java) and not using drag and drop. Seems Acrobat is still initializing so it wasn't able to queue the preflight process... Note though that this does not happen all the time.
Can anyone from Adobe check if this is a known issue?
Currently, the only resolution is to manually open Acrobat and open the preflight window and let it initialize and close the preflight window again and leave acrobat open before executing executing the droplet (which is a bit troublesome if we want to automate opening Acrobat when server is restarted or just turned on)

Office 365 subscription renewal problem

About 7 weeks ago I received a reminder that my Office 365 subscription would be automatically renewed through iTunes. Recently, it was indeed renewed and my account was charged 119.99. Moreover when I sign into my Apple account, it correctly shows that the subscription is active for another year. The problem is as follows: When I log into my actual Office account, Microsoft says my subscription has expired and I need to renew. While so far my office applications seem to still work (on my Windows computers and iPad), I have lost my 1Tb of OneDrive storage and am unable to manage my installs. I'm afraid that soon the applications will stop working completely. Anybody else experiencing this issue?

As of today, I also cannot properly access my Office programs. Like you, this is a catastrophe for me since I depend on Office for my work. I contacted Microsoft (by chat) and told them that (1) although my subscription was autorenewed on iTunes for one year, and (2) that I had the receipt from iTunes store to prove it, Microsoft nonetheless proceeded to cancel the subscription after only two 2 days. The help person informed me that nothing could be done by Microsoft, and that I had to get in touch with Apple. I sent Apple an email yesterday, and hopefully they will get back to me very soon with an immediate solution to this EXTREMELY ANNOYING PROBLEM.
