MetaData Jco Connection without MsgSvr
Hi all!
I have again a problem setting up the Jco Connections for the WebDynpro tutorial. Now, I'm able to create a JcoConnection for the application data, but none for the MetaData, because the IDes, I want to connect to, is not installed with a message server (in that case it really wouldn't make sense, as there is only one app server).
So, please, can anybody tell me, if there is a way to define a MetaData Jco Connection without load balancing?! Or give me a hint, how I can make that tutorial run?
Thx in advance!
Nick
Hi Nicolas,
It is for load balancing purposes that message server is required for the creation of JCO metadata. When large volumes of users are accessing the metadata it becomes necessary that it should be load balanced.
Also using the transaction SMLG you will have to add the message server to the Public logon group. Then only you can create the metadata connection
Also check the services file for the entry sapms<SID> 3600/tcp
Hope this helps you

Rohit

Unable to close metadata jco connection
Hi Experts,
when checking the JCo Connection Pools in Web Dynpro Console, I found that all MetaData JCo are in use and unable to disconnect automatically.
the following is metadata jco destination setting
Maximal Pool Size 1
Maximum Connections 5
Connection Timeout 60
Maximum Wait Time 10
how can i do to close these jco connection?Hi Sidney,
I dont really understand why you want to remove the Jco connections. If you click on the "Remove" button as posted earlier by someone, it will completely remove your Jco configurations and you have to create them again on your own. SO, dont do that.
If you want to disconnect the Jco connection in webdynpro java, we can do that by using the following piece of code at the end of the connection process.
As far as I know, by default the Jco connections gets disconnected after certain time limit. Because, I never had to disconnect the Jco whenever I used one.
wdContext.currentModelElement().modelObject().modelInstance().disconnectIfAlive()

JCO connection without the use of HCM util.?
Hi Guru's!
I have developed a dynpage application where i call a function module inside sap, using the Sap Enterprise Connector.
I use this code to get the JCO connection, where "SystemIdentifier" is the System Alias parameter maintained in the portalapp.xml file eg. "SAP_R3_HumanResources"
the code looks like this:
public SapConnection(Object originator, IPortalComponentRequest request, String systemIdentifier) {
try {
IJCOClientPoolEntry poolEntry = Util.getJCoPoolEntry(originator, request, systemIdentifier);
client = poolEntry.getJCOClient();
} catch (BaseException e) {
System.out.println("Fejl BaseException: " + e.getMessage());
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("Fejl Exception: " + e.getMessage());
Normally this code works well, but today we where trying to use the iView in a portal which doesnt have ESS or MSS installed.
And therefore the HCM_util.jar is not deployed on the server.
So my question is: Is it possible to connect to the sap system using a System Alias, but wihtout the HCM_Util.jar ?
Help is very much apreciated!
Br
RonniHi again.
Seems that i found another way to do this:
IJCOClientService clientService = (IJCOClientService)request.getService(IJCOClientService.KEY);
IJCOClientPoolEntry poolEntry;
try
poolEntry = clientService.getJCOClientPoolEntry(systemIdentifier, request);
Sorry for the commotion

Change password for JCO connections
Hi,
In our landscape we have around 80-100 applications running and there are 300-400 JCO connections on an average. We have 4 servers like this. Earlier we used to have developers user id and password for JCO connections. Now we have decided to have a universal userid and password for all the JCo connections. My question is there any way by which we can change the passwords for all the JCO connections without going to each one of them individually as it is a hectic task.
Thanks & Regards,
VijithHi Vijith Kumar,
Look at the following blog:
/people/anilkumar.vippagunta2/blog/2007/02/06/dynamic-jco-creation
I guess that if you can create JCO by code you can also edit it...

RajendraHello Rajendra,
Good to hear from u. Let me try to give a soln for this problem of yours.
I think probably the logon group has not been specified in the backend.If thats the case then do the following:
Connect to the backend server for which you are trying to create the JCO. Run the transaction SMLG. It will show u the existing logon groups. carry out the following steps if the 'PUBLIC' group is not present in the list of logon groups.
Click on the create button. In the pop-up, type the logon as 'PUBLIC'. For the instance, select the F4 help and choose the existing instance number. Click on copy and click save. Try running the transaction /nsmlg and now it should show the logon group 'PUBLIC'.
When you create the JCO connection, it should now show the logon group 'PUBLIC'.

so can u plz solve my problemHi,
Create a new JCO(for both Meta Data,Model Data) connection in Content administrator>Webdynpro>Create JCO destination
and Make use of that Jco.Otherwise check the status of your Meta data.ModelData Jco connection in Content administrator>Webdynpro>Maintain Jco destination.

Model and MetaData configarations in JCO Connection
Hi all,
while creating new model i used Load Balance option instead of Single Server.So while creating JCO connection what should be selected for ApplicationData and MetaData radio buttons.The error which i am got aftet deploying and running is
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException: Error connecting using JCO.Client: null
Is this error is because of LoadBalance configarartion while creating JCO for Destinations or at the client num which we gave at the starting step of creating JCO
Regards
Padma Ni got similar problem and this is how i resolved
this is because jco connections are Using SSO and the user who is accessing that webdynpro application is not present in the backend system.
please make sure user is there in the backend system from which you are getting data

Problem testing Metadata in JCO connections (Flightlist)
Hello:
I have the sneak preview WAS Server Java 6.4 (J2EE) and I have also installed the MINIWAS 6.2. I have successfully setup the SLD and imported the 2 zip files. I can start SAP, and through SM59 test connect to SLD_NUC. I can use RZ70 to 'send' info. I can successfully load, build, archieve the Flightlist demo. I can go to http://localhost:50000/Webdynepro/welcome... and create and test the Model data under JCO connections (not using load balancing). When I test 'metadata_dest' I get the RFC_error_communication Group Public not found. I tried your fix (services file sapmsBSP 3200 from another post), but this makes it not possible to connect to sap since I think SAP listens on port 3200. Any thoughts? Can I spoof my single server system to think its has load balancing?
Thanks

JCO connection issue with MetaData
Hi all,
I have created Jco connection...and while creating them i have used SSO method for creating application data and user/id method for Metadata...it works fine now...but my concerns is with MetaData.
I have used user/id of an employee who is a user in r3...no whenever this user gets locked for some or the other reason ....all the ess user face a problem in accessing user specific data...
can i use user/id of a user who is not an employee but has SAP_ALL for creating MetaData Jco...will this workout or is it a complusion that the user must be an employee in r3 ????
If this is not possible than what is the way out to resolve this???
Awaiting response...
Thanks & Regards,
JJgenerally we use SAPJSF user as and set this user as communication users that means SAPJSF can't enter R/3 backend system unless it's a Dialog user.
also you can assign SAP_ALL profile to the user

Hi,
In WebdynPro Application without using Adaptive RFC, we are able to disconnect a connection after few seconds as we using disconnect() method for that.
But for a WebdynPro Application using Adaptive RFC, we are not able to disconnect a connection as fast as we were able to do in first case.
We are using following to disconnect:
wdContext.currentInputElement().modelObject().modelInstance().disconnectIfAlive();
In SM04 transaction, we observed that the connection(Adaptive RFC) is taking more time to close than it is taking for without Adaptive RFC WD application. The connection still exists even the memory utilized becomes 0 MB.
Also, when we are not disconnecting in Adaptive RFC WD application, then memory is utilized as long as connection exists. But, when we are disconnecting the connection, the memory utilized is 0 MB though the connection still exists.
While creating the JCo connection for metadata and modeldata we gave:
Max pool size : 5
Max connection: 1000
Connection Timout (msec.) : 1000
Maximum Waiting Time (msec.): 5000
Can anybody suggest how to disconnect the connection to overcome above problem?
Thanks and Regards,

JCO connection pool is exhausted
hi
I am using RFC module in my web dynpro application. When the application is used for sometime, the JCO connection will get exhusted. The JCO connection will not release itself. I can't find any method in web dynpro to release the connection manually. How can I solve this problem?Hi,
What is scope of the connection. View properties of MODELDATA and METADATA destinations.
You can change the scope of the connection..
or
wdContext.current<BAPI INPUT>Element().modelObject().modelInstance().disconnectIfAlive();
For more ways , give a forum search.. There are a lot of close forum posts.. Gud luc..

Error while obtaining JCO connection when creating JCO connection

Please configure your SLD. Your SLD holds the system definition. Define a SAP WebAS abap system and then try to create a Metadata connection using WebDynpro content administrator. Now you will be able to see the msg server defined in the dropdown. Also ensure that you have the message server entry in your services file.
Refer these links for SLD

Hope that helps.

Error in JCO Connection prorgam
Hi Experts,
I am developing one tomcat application using servlet. In servlet i am connecting to R/3. For this i am writing JCO Connection code. This Java file is compiled, but while running the servlet in browser it is giving exception like
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: JCO.classInitialize(): Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC'
JCO.nativeInit(): Could not initialize dynamic link library sapjcorfc [no sapjcorfc in java.library.path]. java.library.path [C:Tomcat 5.0bin;.;C:WINDOWSsystem32;C:WINDOWS;C:WINDOWSsystem32;C:WINDOWS;C:WINDOWSSystem32Wbem;C:jdk1.5.0_12bin;C:Program Files (x86)AdobeFlex Builder 2Flex SDK 2bin;C:j2mej2me_cldcbinwin32;C:j2memidp1.0.3fcsbin;C:jdk1.5.0_12libsapjco.jar]

HitServlet.doGet(HitServlet.java:29)
javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:689)
javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:802)
How to slove this problem. Is their any other way to connect to SAP R/3 from Servlets. I created normal java program without servlets, it's wokring fine. But If paste the same code in servlets mean it is giving above Exception.
Please Help me........ Give any solution to this problem.
Regards,
Sunilsapjcorfc.dll is required on the server to handle jco connections.
It seems it is not there or if it is there but is not part of "path" environment variable on the server.
1) Go to you server. Search for this file and add the directory containing this file to path environment variable for server. You have to restart your server.
2) It runs in your local java program because your local java program runs in local JVM instance. And on your local machine you have the sapjcorfc.dll plus its folder being in part of path environment variable.
3) The servlet runs in ServletContext on the server JVM instance where the sapjcorfc.dll cann't located.

Continue installing packages if there are other errors
