Method access$0() and Interfaces doubts

Hello All,
I am working on a class browser, I have created one and it works successfully to a certain extent. But The class which I am having a Demo for a Tree Implementation in GUI, has a method called access$0() which I guess is automatically created on runtime by the super classes or somewhere, please let me know how and where can I get more details about this method.
Also If my class under inspection is implementing one or more interfaces, how can I access its method names and variables.
Also One more question, does Java maintain a list of sub-class information for each class somewhere.. just like Small Talk or it doesn't?? Please explain.
Thanks,
Sirish

access$ methods are widely used to access private
members of enclosing class from its inner class and
vice-versa. These methods are generated by Java
compiler, not by JVM runtime.
See
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jvms/second_edition/htm
l/ClassFile.doc.html#80128 for more details about
synthetic class members.
Other questions need more clarification.I will check that link, Regarding the other two questions:
2. What I meant in my interfaces question is that... Say I have a class X that Extends Y and implements A,B
Then if I want to display all the methods and fields of these classes and interfaces in a recursive way, till I reach the Object class, by going to superclass every time, then I understand I can get to class Y simple by
using x.getSuperClass()
but how can I get the interface methods?? and go upwards in that hierarchy??
3. Sub class question is like this - Say I have 3 classes all user defined in the same directory Class A,B,C where A is the superclass of B and C. My class browser is displaying the hierarchy details of A, then is there any way to put in the details of B and C in the same hierarchical display or just display a separate list of subclass that this class has. I am not sure whether I have made it clear still.
(I didnot understnad your reply on changing the class path, can you please explain it in a bit more detail, provided it holds for this question.)
Regards,
Sirish

  • Configuring Method Accessing

    How do you turn Method Accessing on for all Entities using Java?
    I came across this thread which mentions <uses-method-accessing> in an XML file:
    Re: An interesting TOPLINK-6044
    However, is it possible to do this via an annotation or some configuration in the persistence.xml. I want to use Method Accessing at all times for all entities. Is this possible and is it possible to configure this via annotations or in persistence.xml.

    Thanks for the reply. I tried that and it seems to work. But if I have a transient field in my entity bean and specify method level annotations, TopLink tries to map even the transient field to a table column which is undesirable.
    I also tried annotating the getter methods for the fields I wanted Method Access on and leaving the fields I didn't care about at field-level annotations. But even that resulted in the transient field getting mapped to a database column.
    Any ideas?

  • Access specifiers for interface methods

    When we implement the interface ,we have to specify the implementing method access specifier to be "PUBLIC" ,but not "PROTECTED" or "PRIVATE".
    Compiler is giving an error -- attempting to assign weaker access privileges ,when we specify protected.
    what is the internal reason for this?Why we shouldnt make the access weaker in the implementing class.
    Can any one help me on this.Your help is highly appreciated.

    When we implement the interface ,we have to specify
    the implementing method access specifier to be
    "PUBLIC" ,but not "PROTECTED" or "PRIVATE".
    Compiler is giving an error -- attempting to assign
    weaker access privileges ,when we specify protected.
    what is the internal reason for this?There is absolutely no point in having a private interface method. The interface represents a visible abstraction and private methods are never visible so it is a contradiction in terms.
    An interface is intended to represent an abstraction that a user (software) uses. Protected via child/parent represents a usage that is restricted to a child from a parent. The child can already see the parent so there is no point in having an abstraction for the child. And it would probably be unwise to limit a child by such an abstraction.
    Protected via the package and interfaces is more contentious as to why it is not allowed. There are those that argue that this should be allowed so that a package can use interfaces but restrict them to the package. To me this seems like a minor point given that most interfaces will probably represent an abstraction to other packages and not within a single package. This applies specifically to default access as well.

  • How do I access classes and methods defined in a wsdl file

    I have been provided a wsdl file I need to find out how do I access classes and methods defined in a wsdl file directly instead of doing a wsdl2java...

    Several comments :
    1- is there any reason to have blank chars inserted after the path ? Seems that you already have a problem there. If possible, try to solve the problem at the source
    2- the end of line char is usually CR (Carriage Return, aka ASCII char 13 = $0D = Control-D). But LF (Line Feed = 10 = $0A = control-A) is also used (platform dependent). In LV, you can use the "Concatenate strings" function to add/insert control chars (found in the String Control Palette). However, this will not solve your problem of unwanted added blank chars at the end of your string.
    3- you can use the Trim white space.vi (in the "Additionnal string functions" sub-palette) to remove ALL the spaces in your string
    4- you can build your own "end space remover" function. :
    reverse the string, wire to a "Match pattern" function, use " +" (space + "+") to search for any number of spaces, reverse again the "after substring".
    5- there is no point 5 :-)
    You may find interesting description of ASCII chars here

  • Abstract class and interface having same method

    Hello,
    Here is my problem. Suppose we have one abstarct class and one interface.Here is code-
    //Abstarct class
    abstract class X{
    abstract void myMethod();
    //Interface
    public interface Y{
    abstract void myMethod(){}
    Now i have a class which extends both abstarct class X and interface Y.
    If i call myMethod() from this class. Whose myMethod would be called.Will it be of abstract class or interface?
    Many Thanks

    Hello,
    Here is my problem. Suppose we have one abstarct class
    and one interface.Here is code-
    //Abstarct class
    abstract class X{
    abstract void myMethod();
    }OK, so far...
    //Interface
    public interface Y{
    abstract void myMethod(){}
    }An interface cannot have code (the {} part), so this won't work.
    Lets pretend though, it read
    //Interface
    public interface Y{
    abstract void myMethod();
    However, the abstract class above can have code;
    If you extended X and implemented Y (with no code in it), you would have to have a myMethod() implementation in your code. That's the one that would run.
    Now, let's pretend the abstract class above did have code in it.
    //Abstract class
    abstract class X {
    abstract void myMethod() { System.out.println("Hello"); }
    Then, you wouldn't have to have a myMethod() implementation in your class which extends X and implements Y (it's defined in X). If you didn't have one, the method in X would run. If you defined your own myMethod() implementation in your class (which extends X and implements Y), then your own implementation would run.

  • Silly doubt abt access-points and bridges

    hi all i have read cisco doc wherein clients connecting to access-points and also where the cisco access-point is working like a bridge and still clients can connect to it .
    then any specific reason why people generally connect clients to access-points.
    i mean is there any benefit of either method over the other.
    any help and guidance would be really helpful.
    regards
    sushil

    In short, it is preferred to have users connect to access points.... 99% of the time. You can use a wireless bridge (that is associated to an AP) that is connected to a switch/hub to supply network connectivity to wired users off the switch/hub. There are also access points that can be used as a bridge for building point to point connectivity.
    Look at the home users with wireless.... it allows then to move from place to place (as long as there is coverage) without having to be wired in.

  • Server proxy method name and interface operation name

    Hi all,
    I have successfully used inbound server proxies on several occasions.  Each time, without thinking about it, I took the default option where the OPERATION name == the SERVICE INTERFACE name.  When the proxy is generated, the ABAP method is the OPERATION name and everything works nicely.
    This time however, I tried something different and built a service interface (PMNotification, as example) with the operation name 'Create', thinking that I could also have a second operation 'Update' (for example).  The ABAP proxy method then becomes CREATE, but I then get 'NO IMPLEMENTING CLASS....' errors. If I change the operation name to match the interface name and regenerate, everything works again.
    SO, my question is this : Is is true that the OPERATION name MUST equal the INTERFACE name for an inbound server proxy ??
    If this is the case, then a (inbound) service interface can only have one operation; this doesn't seem right.
    Looking forward to any insight.
    Guy

    If this is the case, then a (inbound) service interface can only have one operation; this doesn't seem right.
    Open your service interface in ESR and press F7....if the proxy cannot be generated you would probably get an information on this....inbound SI can have multiple operations but then it seems to be a limitation in case of proxy.
    Also if your operations have different types of messages (combinations of message type and external definitions etc) then you face such limitations.
    Some reference from Michal's blog: The specified item was not found.
    Now the method that you need to call from to send an ABAP Proxy message has exactly the same name as a method
    inside the Service Interface objects in Enterprise Service Repository (ESR is a successor of Integration Repository - IR) like
    shown in the picture below:

  • Accessing AM Client Interface from Web Application

    Hi,
    I am trying to access some client interface methods that I developed on my application module from a backing bean on my web application and have trouble doing so.
    Some background on the problem,
    Basically when logging into our application from the front-end, we have to authenticate the user against some custom security code. Part of this code is to validate the user against the Oracle database (i.e. valid oracle db user, and password is valid password to log onto Oracle database). To do this, I developed Client Interface methods on an Application Module. When using the BC Tester in jdev 11g (the latest release), these methods work 100% and validation occurs. On our logon page, I bound these methods to the page definition file. When I then try in the backing bean to call this method, using the code from the ADF 11g Dev guide as below, the DataControl on the action is null at point 3. It does seem to find the action find. I have also tried to actually use the "setParams" method on the action, and then tried the execute(), invoke() + getResult(), and doIt() + getResult() methods, of which none seems to work. All these go past the execute/invoke/do part, but the return value on the execute, as well as the return value from the getResult calls are null.
    public String commandButton_action() {
    // Example using an action binding to get the data control
    public String commandButton_action() {
    // 1. Access the binding container
    DCBindingContainer bc = (DCBindingContainer)getBindings();
    // 2. Find a named action binding
    JUCtrlActionBinding action = (JUCtrlActionBinding)bc.findCtrlBinding("SomeActionBinding");
    // 3. Get the data control from the iterator binding (or method binding)
    DCDataControl dc = action.getDataControl();
    // 4. Access the data control's application module data provider
    ApplicationModule am = (ApplicationModule)dc.getDataProvider();
    // 5. Cast the AM to call methods on the custom client interface
    StoreServiceAM service = (StoreServiceAM)am;
    // 6. Call a method on the client interface
    service.doSomethingInteresting();
    return "SomeNavigationRule";
    Can somebody perhaps tell me what I am doing wrong, or of a better approach to resolve this problem. If any more info is needed, please let me know.
    I did think about binding the action directly to the logon button on the jsf page, but unfortunately there is additional logic/code that is currently in the backing bean that I do not want to move down into the business components, and some code like the lines below that can not be moved.
    HttpSession session = (HttpSession)externalContext.getSession(true);
    session.setAttribute(SecurityFilter.SESSION_ATTR_USER, securityDto.getUsername());
    session.setAttribute(SecurityFilter.SESSION_ATTR_SECRET, securityDto.getPassword());
    session.setAttribute(SecurityFilter.SESSION_ATTR_ROLES, securityDto.getRoles());
    return "logonSuccess";
    Will really appreciate any help.
    Tx
    Drikus

    Hi,
    I managed to find some sort of work around.
    I actually dragged and dropped the Client Interface for the custom method from the datacontrol onto my jsf page and created an additional button. I then ran the application and everything worked. Afterwards I went back to my jsf page and removed the newly added button again and removed the newly added methods from my page definition file as well. When I run the application now, the exact same code that I used previously, now seems to work. I changed it to use the findDataControl method as Frank suggested, and that also works now.
    What i can not figure out though, is what exactly the the dropping of that dataControl method and removing it again changed on my application to make it work now. Can somebody please try this and see if they can find the answer. I have done a small little sample application where I can replicate the problem exactly which I can provide the steps to if needed.
    Drikus.

  • Question about Classes, Abstract  Classes and Interfaces.

    I have been experimenting with Classes, Abstract Classes and Interfaces and wonder if anyone can explain this to me.
    I was looking for a way to assign a value to a variable and then keep it fixed for the session and have devised this.
    First I create an abstract class like this:
    public abstract class DatabaseConnection {
    private static String ServerName = null;
    public static void setServerName(String serverName) {
              ServerName = serverName;
         public static String getServerName() {
              return ServerName;
    }and then I created an interface
    public interface DatabaseAccess {
         String servername = DatabaseConnection.getServerName();
    }And finally the class itself with some test lines in it so I could see what was going on:
    public class CreateDatabase extends DatabaseConnection implements DatabaseAccess {
         public static void main (String args[]){
              new CreateDatabase();
         public CreateDatabase(){
              setServerName("Server Name 1");
              System.out.println ("Before update ");
              System.out.println ("ServerName from Interface           = " + servername);
              System.out.println ("ServerName from Abstract Class = " + getServerName());
              System.out.println ("After update ");
              setServerName("Server Name 2");
              System.out.println ("ServerName from Interface           = " + servername);
              System.out.println ("ServerName from Abstract Class = " + getServerName());
              System.out.println ("==========================");
    }The output I get from the above is:
    Before update
    ServerName from Interface           = Server Name 1
    ServerName from Abstract Class = Server Name 1
    After update
    ServerName from Interface           = Server Name 1
    ServerName from Abstract Class = Server Name 2
    ==========================I also tried this in another class which calls the above class to see if I get the same effect
    public class CheckDatabaseAccess {
         public static void main (String args[]){
              new CreateDatabase();
              CreateDatabase.setServerName("Server 3");
              System.out.println("CreateDatabase "+CreateDatabase.servername);
              CreateDatabase.setServerName("Server 4");
              System.out.println("CreateDatabase "+CreateDatabase.servername);
              CreateDatabase.setServerName("Server 5");
              System.out.println("CreateDatabase "+CreateDatabase.servername);
    }The output of which is this:
    Before update
    ServerName from Interface           = Server Name 1
    ServerName from Abstract Class = Server Name 1
    After update
    ServerName from Interface           = Server Name 1
    ServerName from Abstract Class = Server Name 2
    ==========================
    CreateDatabase Server Name 1
    CreateDatabase Server Name 1
    CreateDatabase Server Name 1Can anyone explain why I appear to only be able to change or set the ServerName only the once?
    Is this the correct way to do it? If it is it's exactly what I am looking for, a way to set the value of variable once in a session and then prevent it being changed.
    Or is there a better way of doing this.
    What I want to use this for is for example, storing the accesses to a database on a server. I won't know what server the database will be stored on nor what the database is called so I create an INI file which stores this information in encrypted format, which is set by the database administrator. It occurs to me I can use this method to then retrieve that data once and once only from the INI file and use that throughout the life of the session to access the database.
    Any help appreciated
    Regards
    John

    Not gonna read all of it, but this jumps out:
    public abstract class DatabaseConnection {
    private static String ServerName = null;
    public interface DatabaseAccess {
         String servername = DatabaseConnection.getServerName();
    }You have two completely separate variables (with two different names, for that matter, since you were inconsistent in your capitalization, but it wouldn't make a difference if they did have the same name with the same case). And the one in the interface is implicitly public, static, and final.
    Anytime you refer to "servername" through a reference of type DatabaseAccess, it refers to the one declared in the interface.
    Anytime you refer to "ServerName" inside the DatabaseConnection class, it refers to the one declared in that class.

  • What is the difference between Abstract class and Interface ?

    Hi,
    Could u plz tell me the difference between Abstract class and Interface?
    Thanks in advance.
    Gopi

    Lots.
    An abstract class can contain some method implementations, or indeed all the method implementations. It may contain methods with all the various access modifiers. It cannot be instantiated. A class may inherit from only a single abstract class.
    An interface contains only public method stubs and constants. A class may implement multiple interfaces. An interface cannot (obviously) be instantiated.
    Abstract classes are particularly useful when you need to provide a semi-complete implementation for reuse. Interfaces are used more like types.
    Look at java.util.* for some good examples of the use of both.

    access$ methods are widely used to access private
    members of enclosing class from its inner class and
    vice-versa. These methods are generated by Java
    compiler, not by JVM runtime.
    See
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jvms/second_edition/htm
    l/ClassFile.doc.html#80128 for more details about
    synthetic class members.
    Other questions need more clarification.I will check that link, Regarding the other two questions:
    2. What I meant in my interfaces question is that... Say I have a class X that Extends Y and implements A,B
    Then if I want to display all the methods and fields of these classes and interfaces in a recursive way, till I reach the Object class, by going to superclass every time, then I understand I can get to class Y simple by
    using x.getSuperClass()
    but how can I get the interface methods?? and go upwards in that hierarchy??

  • Read Only privileges for Access Server and Identity Server - OAM 10g

    Hi,
    I am working on Oracle Access Manager 10g version 10.1.4.
    I use an administrative account that is a member of the 'COREid Administrators' group to log into the access console and identity console of OAM.
    Since this is the administrative account, it has the rights to modify and update all access/identity entities.
    How can I set up an account that has "view only" privileges over all access and identity objects in OAM?
    I need to log into the access and identity consoles of OAM and view all policy domains/policies/access system configuration/user manager config/group manager config etc bt not be able to modify any of them.
    Is there a way to setup such an account in OAM?
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

    Hi Abhishek,
    It is possible to define different levels of administrator, but it is not possible to give an admin read access (to objects in the consoles) without also giving modify access. I do not believe that there is a straightforward way to meet this requirement - for the Access System you could use the Policy Manager API and write your own interface (which does not have the ability to modify) but obviously this would be some development effort.

    Colin

  • A question about class and interface? please help me!

    the following is program:
    interface A{
    public class B implements A{
    public static void main(String [] args){
    A a = new B();
    System.out.println(a.toString());
    }i want to ask a question, the method toString() is not belong to interface A, why a can call method toString()? the interface call the method that isn't belong to, why? please help me...

    because a.toString() call the method toString() of class Object because B implements A, but extends Object and in the class Object there is a method toString(). infact if you override the method toString() in class B, a.toString() call toString() in class B.
    try this:
    interface A {}
    public class B implements A
      public String toString()
        return "B";
      public static void main(String [] args)
        A a = new B();
        System.out.println(a.toString());
