Mic doesn't seem to work in applications, but I can hear myself in the Mix

I have recently done a PC & OS upgrade.
My previous setup was on WinXp Pro (x86) with an Asus A8R-MVP (S939 with ATI/ULI chipsets) and AMD 3200+ processor. I bought my X-Fi at the same time as these components, and everything was working just fine.
Now I have upgraded to WinXp Pro x64 and an Asus P5W64 WS Pro (S775 with Intel 975X chipsets) and an Intel e6600 processor. I loaded everything up including a few games and everything seemed just fine.
... Until I decided to download TeamSpeak so that I could talk with my guildmates... I could hear them, but they couldn't hear me. The short story is that if I load the Mixer from the systray Volume panel and enable microphone playback, I can hear myself perfectly fine; which should tell me that the Mic & X-fi work.
... But if I load Teamspeak, Windows Sound Recorder, Creative's WaveStudio, etc... (anything that records), it's as if I'm muted as there is nothing there... silence.
I have tried the MSCONFIG "selecti've startup" method to uninstall and reinstall my driver CD and latest driver patch... I have downloaded and installed the latest April 2007 DirectX, I have double checked that the Mic is the selected recording source (+20db and cranked)... all with no success.
It's obvious that alot has changed around the X-FI (OS, mobo & CPU) but the problem seems to be a "software"/driver one... I'd almost have preferred that the Mixer wouldn't have let me hear my voice at all... then I could have nominated the Mic as the problem... but the mixer proves it to be good.
Why is the Mixer the only application that knows that there is sound on the mic channel to deal with?

unbelievable... the amount of RAM is the issue... I found a post (http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=8448) on an unrelated matter, but the user solved their issue under X64 by limiting the amount of RAM WinXP x64 was using by editing the boot.ini file.
The basis of the "trick" is to add " /maxmem=4096" to the end of your OS line, but I elected to copy the line and add it to a new entry so I could easily select which "mode" i wanted at boot.... like so...

When Can I expect a fix for this Creative?

    I'll guess you've already discovered the answer to this, but just in case:
    Reminders works with Outlook tasks by syncing with iCloud, or through Exchange. You can't sync iOS Reminders with Outlook Tasks via USB/iTunes (like you can do with Notes, Calendar, Contacts).
    So the marketing material on Reminders is a little misleading in that it's not specific enough -- there is no syncing without one of those intermediary systems mentioned above.
    On a side note, syncing Tasks/Reminders via iCloud is not very good in my opinion:
    Requires that you sync to the cloud, even if you have no other use for storing personal data in the cloud.
    Requires that the iCloud Control Panel be installed on your PC (not sure about Mac).
    After syncing, you'll find new Calendar and Task groups called "iCloud" have been created in Outlook. The calendar groups appear to be created even if you're only syncing Tasks/Remminders (not sure why).
    Reminders are stored in the new group (noted above) called "iCloud" rather than in your default Tasks group. This seems to me to be a sort of "parallel" sync, rather than a true sync with Outlook. There are oter implications of your synced tasks being in the new group that I won't go into here, but you can search the interwebs to learn more.
    In my own case, I tried iCloud syncing, decided that I didn't like it for the reasons stated above, and then uninstalled (Control Panel and new Outlook groups) with no apparent ill effects.
    Though I don't guarantee you'll have the same results, it might be worth a try to see if it suits your purposes.

    Oh no, Robinbird18! This is not what we like to hear about your cell phone. It makes it pretty hard to have a conversation with someone when you can't hear them. If you make a phone call out are you able to have a conversation with someone without any issues? How long has this been going on? Have you tried to use the phone on speaker phone to see if that works at all?   • New mic doesn't seem to work with logic

    I am using Logic Pro 9.0.0. I recently purchased an Audio Technica AT2020 XLR condenser mic and the Behringer PS400 Phantom Power Supply, which connects to my Audio 8 DJ, and then to my Macbook Pro via USB. I know that the mic is working because I can record vocals in Traktor perfectly, but when I try the mic in Logic, it picks up the mic, but only records buzzing and static. I also have tried my snowball microphone in logic, which surprisingly does work and records vocals perfectly. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

    It's always the second search that is problematic.
    I've tried typing over and all it seems to do is confine the search to the the entries that have come up for the previous search.
    I've tried to use the x to clear the previous entry and then type the next search, same problem.  The only way seems to be to move from "All Contacts" to "Groups".  Then the searched name appears and I can return to All Contacts to see full details.
    Surely three key press' are not the way it's supposed to work?

    Hard Drive:  The Hard Drive is on my camera (Sony Handycam)
    Just needed some info on what is going on with your particular system.
    Knowing the exact camera model will also assist us.
    If this camera is standard AVCHD you should be able to connect with USB to Mac with FCE open and use Log and Transfer without all the fiddling around converting etc.
    What FCE does during ingest is convert files to AIC. (Apple Intermediate Codec)
    FCE cannot read the individual files in the BDMV folder, that's why all the converting is required when you use that method.
    BTW: regards formatting drives/cards/memory on cameras; it is wise to use the actual device to format rather than a computer. This is a prime cause of read/write goof ups with solid state media. This applies to still or video cameras.
    Keeping the COMPLETE card/memory structure in tact is vital for successful transfers.

  • Email Security Plug-in - Doesn't seem to work with right click or save and send

    I've searched the knowledge base but have not located the answer yet.
    We have the Encrypt Message plug-in installed to flag the email [SEND SECURE].  This works very well when in Outlook.  It does not seem to work when right clicking a file to send outside of Outlook or performing Save and Send from within Microsoft Office.  The add-in still shows and users are clicking it and the Send button but the emails are not going securely.  We are on Microsoft2010 on mostly XP machines.
    How can I get Encrypt Message to work in all instances?

  • HTML Snippet doesn't seem to work

    Hi there
    I recently upgraded from iWeb 08 to iWeb 09.
    My problem is, HTML Snippet Widget doesn't seem to work.
    Even though I am able to drag the HTML Snippet onto my page
    and they just look fine on my iMac, when I publish and upload the files,
    those counter and ads I made using HTML Snippet are all gone.
    I see nothing at the places they should be.
    What should I do?
    Or am I missing something?

    Hi, I would appreciate if someone could assist with the following.  On the Numbers application on my Ipad, the 'VALUE' function doesn't seem to work correctly on the string/text which I want to convert to a value.  It gives me an error (in my example: 'VALUE requires a string specifying a number, but found "-14308.65" instead.'
    The exact same document (if converted from Numbers to excel), displays the converted string/text correctly in MS Excel as a value though.

    click on the cell then in the formula bar and use the arrow keys to move the cursor to see if there are any other characters in the cell that could confuse the function.  Also make sure the localization for your country is correct in System Prefs.
    Maybe copy the EXACT contents of the cell and post here.

    I've noticed this too...when I'm in Safari, scrolling is a bit jerky and sometimes it stops even though I'm still scrolling...my fingers go right off the trackpad.  I just downloaded the new updates onto my brand new macbook air- had to do it manually as "power nap" doesn't work, even after the SMC reset.  Lamesauce.

    I have changed a database (MS SQL Server) column from varchar 255 to varchar 1000, but the designer doesn't pick up the change.
    I read that db changes can be picked up by using 'Verify Database' feature. It doesn't seem to work for us though. Is there any configuration to turn on for the feature to work properly or any work-around to refresh the database changes?
    We are making the database connection using JDBC (JNDI) option since the report is being used in a Java web application.
    Any comments or insights will be very much appreciated!

    Thank you very much for your reply! Here are the answers to your questions.
    Are you able to create a new report off the modified database?
    ==> Yes.
    Do new reports see the changes made to the database?
    ==> No.
    Are the reports connecting directly to the database table, or is it a stored procedure, business view, universe being used?
    ==> Through a business view.
    By the way, after trying so many things, I was able to figure out the reason. Since the report is using a view, not directly the table, the view itself had to be recompiled to reflect the table changes so that the view could pass the changes to the report. It was a very good thing to know. Your last question could have been a very helpful insight for this issue! Thank you so much again!

    I'm using the toplink essentials jar file with a stand alone J2SE application. I'm using annotations for ORM with Toplink implementation
    What I want to achieve is to map the base class objects to one table, and sub class objects to a different table. Currently - both tables (and objects) have the exact same structure, but I use inheritence in order to identify where should the object be registered. Thus I'm trying to map an inhertiance using TABLE_PER_CLASS type.
    It doesn't seem to work:
    My classes look like this:
    Base class I want to map to REGION table:

    @Inheritance(strategy=InheritanceType.TABLE_PER_CLASS)

    This doesn't work. The Toplink adds entities of the GfrRegion to the REGION table and does not recognize it should go to the GFR_REGION table.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi all,
    Any news about the support for TABLE_PER_CLASS in TopLink/EclipseLink ?
    The main question is what was the reason for making this an optional strategy for mapping in the specs ? Both OpenJPA and Hibernate have it and there are cases when this is usefull.
    From EclipseLink perspective, how difficult would be to add this ? I didn't have a chance yet to closely examine the codebase for EclipseLink, but some architecture diagrams with some design decisions explained would help to community to better understand the product and make improvements.

    Hi Matt, thanks for your reply. Yes, I did. Actually I'm testing the JDBC data-source in WebLogic console and the test is successfull. Also, exactly the same app correctly deploys in JBoss. In the WebLogic console I can see my EAR deployed, I'm running some standalone clients against some SLSB in the EAR and they work properly and I'm sure that if I'm manually creating the data-model, the JPA entities will work. The only thing which doesn't seem to work is the automatically data-model creation. I thought that Hibernate may not be so intimatelly integrated with WebLogic as with JBoss and I tried to use Kodo, but I didn't find any auto create-drop equivalent feature. I continue digging but stiil interested by any suggestion, if any.
