Microsoft ACE & Office compatibility issue

Here is our situation:
We have a 32 bit VC++ application that operated both with:
- Access to store data via ADO
- Excel for result output via OLE Embedded and OLE Automation
Our application is in the market of imaging.
Because of the interest of our users to work with more & bigger images, we can't stay with a 32 bit application.
We started the migration to x64 but we have a problem:
1. Data access requires Microsoft ACE OLEDB provider x64
2. Most of our users run Excel 32 bits (Microsoft continue to recommend the use of Office 32 bits).
The problem is that the Microsoft ACE OLEDB provider x64 is not compatible with Office 32 bits.
Can you please confirm?
Is there a way to workaround, for example by using another x64 OLEDB provider that would not have any issue running on the same machine as Office 32 bits?
Or maybe this is a case where Microsoft would tell us to use the x64 version of Office.

Hi EddyDelpierre,
>>The problem is that the Microsoft ACE OLEDB provider x64 is not compatible with Office 32 bits. Can you please confirm?
Yes, the 64-bit Microsoft ACE driver cannot co-exist with 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office, you must use 64-bit Microsoft Office.

You could try the solution suggested by Applied Maths in this thread:

  • External KM Repository and Microsoft 2007 extensions compatibility issues

    Hi,
We are currently having issues when trying to open Microsoft Office 2007 documents through an external KM repository (connected to a Windows share drive).  The new extensions are not recognized, and so the user is only allowed to save the document.  We did have this problem in our internal repository, but we found some notes to fix that issue (changed some settings on KM iView ).  We assumed it would also fix our external repository issue as well, but it did not.  Does anybody know how to fix this for an external repository?
We are on EP portal version 6.0, on NetWeaver  7.0, SPS 17.
    Thanks,
    Carrie

    Hi Carrie,
ok. So in general it must be the same.
I will explain the exact way how it "should" work.
At the moment you upload a file. The portal have a look at the file extention and depending on this file extention and the KM MIME Types Settings the portal writes the assoziated mime type in the document property MIME Type.
Now we download the file. Now the MIME Type will be send with the file to the OS. Windows has a look in the registry and open the application assoziate with this mine type. And have a look if an confirmation box should appear or not.
This works for all repositories external and internal.
But now the question is: Do your external repository has the attribute MIME Type for a document and is in this attribute the same value like in your internal repository?
I am anxious to hear what is the special of your external repository.
    Best regards
    Frank

  • Installing Acrobat Standard 6.0 under Windows 8 & Microsoft Office 2013 - compatability issues

In older Windows/Office versions, a PDF Printer was integrated into software, such as Word. this would allow you to print directly into Acrobat in PDF format.
Under Windows 8 Office 2013 there seem to be compatability issues and I can not longer print to Acrobat.
Are there any patches or solutions out there ??

    i'm a fan of doPDF:  www.dopdf.com
which allows any app with print capabilities to print a pdf document.

I just updated my platform to Windows 7 and upgraded from Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2007.  The PDF printer did not download and realized that there are compatibility issues with Office 2007.  How could I get this fixed?

    Buy Acrobat 11.

  • The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 (64) vs MS Office 2007)

We just have switched our local server from 32-bit to 64-bit machine and now we have Windows Server 2008 R2 Service
Pack 1 with MS Office 2007. On server we are running an application in ASP.Net 3.5 using visual studio
2008. All users have 32-bit windows 7 and MS Office 2007.
when user tries to import data from Excel to Database (SQL Server 2005), error comes as
"microsoft.ace.oledb.12.0 provider is not registered on local machine".
I have tried a solution by installing Access Database Engine 2007 Office System Driver on the Server, but the error
was same. Now what should I do to resolve this problem??? Should we install Office 2010 64-bit on the Server or is there any other solution???

  • Acrobat XI combine to PDF feature is not working with Office 2013 is there a compatibility issue?

Tested with Office 2010 and it works fine
Seems to only be the combine to PDF feature that doesn't work, done updates, tried combining a variety of documents still no joy

There isn't any compatibility issue with Office 2013 and Combine should work with office 2013 same as it with 2010.
Can you please tell us some more details so that we can investigate the problem which you are facing:
    1) Please update the exact Acrobat version you are using. This you can find out via "Help -> About Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.." Version should be something like 11.0.x. If it is not 11.0.7, then please update it to 11.0.7 and try again.
    2) Is this problem you faced recently (after some update - Acrobat or OS update) or it never used to work earlier for you?
    3) You mentioned that when combining, it convert first document only. Can you please let us know how many documents you are combining and what are those formats?
    4) Also please update about you environment as well. Is you Operating System and MS Office 32bit or 64bit?
    Thanks,

  • Remove microsoft office compatibility pack 2007

We have upgraded all clients to Office 2010 so there is not need for microsoft office compatibility pack 2007 so I want to remove it.  The compatibility pack was pushed via GPO.  I was removed from GPO but "let user continue to use" was selected.
Now when trying to remove it using msiexec /qn /x{90120000-0020-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE} on almost all pcs I am getting a failure and it is not uninstalling.  MSIEXEC error code it 1605.Jason

    I haven't any HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
    But I found the key
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\000021090200A0C00000000000F01FEC\InstallProperties
    with values
DisplayName     = Paquete de compatibilidad para 2007 Office system  (same product in Spanish)
    UninstallString  = MsiExec.exe /X{90120000-0020-0C0A-0000-0000000FF1CE}
There is a little change in the GUI, may be related to SP3 for Compatibility Pack, which is installed. That UnistallString worked for me.
In a startup script it must include "/qn" as there is no user interaction. I.e.
    msiexec /qn /x {90120000-0020-0C0A-0000-0000000FF1CE}
Yes, I do know: this thread is a year old. But may be this post help somebody :-)

  • Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and OSX 10.6 - Compatibility issue

I've bought a new MacBook Pro (2,53 GHz, 4 GB RAM) and OSX 10.6.4 . With the old one (MBP 2,16 GHz, 1 GB RAM, still with OSX 10.6.4) the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 went perfectly.
Now I'm experiencing a major compatibility issue: the same mouse, even with the same OS version but only a different MacBook Pro, won't be recognized.
    Bluetooth: activated
    Bluetooth firmware: latest
    Mouse: ON with batteries OK
OPERATING SYSTEM: same (first restored via Time Machine and then updated with Apple Software Update)
    Suggestions?
    Message was edited by: Tyrexionibus

I went through many of the same frustrations as the members above...my mouse had been working after the upgrade and then when I set up for a presentation with a room full of teachers it wouldn't connect.  I replaced batteries, etc... so I resorted to the pad.
When I got home i checked the batteries and tried to reconnect following all the "normal" steps until I read the comment above about removing the existing device in the bluetooth preferences.  Once I did that - the 5000 connected like a champ!  Yeah!  This is the one mouse that I have really appreciated, especially since both of the USB ports are side by side and don't allow for multiple USB connections from my "wide" cellular USB card.

  • Microsoft ERP MA (3.3.1077.2) for SAP and compatibility issues with SAP 6.0

    Hi all,
I want to configure the ERP MA (3.3.1077.2) for SAP on ILM 2007 in order to synchronize passwords between AD and SAP. I have several instances of SAP. The SAP versions are as follow:
    SAP ECC 6.0 7.00 - 64bit
    SAP ECC 6.4 7.01 - 64bit
    SAP BI 7.1 7.01 - 64bi
I was wondering whether there are compatibility issues with any of the above mentioned versions.
    Your feedback is appreciated.

  • Any compatibility issues for Oracle Client 10.2.0.4.0 and Snow Leopard?

Now that Snow Leopard is out and in fact in my hands, are there any known compatibility issues relative to the Oracle client software that is available from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10204macsoft.html
    Thanks.
BTW, it might be worthwhile to know about the following web site:
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
and for someone from Oracle to post an appropriate listing there as that site is becoming known as a central resource for such queries.
    Marc

    Guys,
I appreciate all of your replies, but:
    1. Just to be clear, I am talking about running the CLIENT (SQL*Plus) on Snow Leopard, which will connect to Oracle 11g, which is running on RHEL 5. I don't care in the least as to whether or not Oracle 11g will run on Snow Leopard. Today, I run the CLIENT on Leopard from the CLI and can connect to 11g on RHEL 5 just fine. I use the Actual Technologies ODBC driver (http://www.actualtechnologies.com/product_oracle.php) for queries in other applications and I have a similar query regarding Snow Leopard compatibility into them.
    2. @damorgan: Are you telling me that the client software that I can download from Oracle here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10204macsoft.html
was written by Oracle and certified by Apple to run on Leopard (10.5)? I am curious, because today, it was Microsoft and not Apple that put forth the statement that Office 2008 is fine on Snow Leopard:
    http://www.officeformac.com/blog/Ready-for-Snow-Leopard
Are you suggesting, as a parallel, that Apple did the certification of Office 2008 for Snow Leopard, not Microsoft? Or that Apple and not Cisco, will certify that Cisco's VPN client will work on Snow Leopard?
    Thanks,
    Marc

  • Compatibility issues in Lion

I've heard quite a few people saying that there a compatibility issues with Microsoft office in Lion. How bad are they? I'm a student so Office is fairly essential, yet i would love to upgrade.

I am saying that for what I have normally used Office for Mac 2008 Suite for I have not had any problems with using it on Lion.
However, here is a link to what Microsoft has acknowledge as some of the issues that may exist:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2586538
I haven't verified all the issues that they are claiming on my own Office for Mac 2008 Suite, but I can tell you that I personally haven't run into an issue that prevented me to work with the applications. Regardless, Microsoft is aware that their Office for Mac Suites are having issues within Lion, so they will be fixing them. Again, even looking at the legitimate reported possible issues that you may have it is looking like the biggest issues are or can come from using Excell, but I never noticed any.
I would either just wait until you know the reported issues are fixed, or go ahead and update to Lion and see for yourself what works or doesn't work for your type of use. If nothing else I would try iWork out and see how you like that, as that is what I am personally using as my main office suite.

  • Boot Camp / Windows 8.1 64-bit / Driver compatibility issues

    Hi everyone,
I have been struggling to install Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit version through Boot Camp on my MacBook Air 13 inch mid-2012 for a few days and I have finally decided to give up and write this thread to see if anyone has encountered the same problems as I have and if they've found a solution.
    What I've tried so far:
    1. First attempt
         a. Download the ISO from Microsoft (We are a Microsoft Partner and have access to internal use licences of Windows 8.1).
         b. Use the Boot Camp utility to create a bootable USB drive, download the latest Boot Camp drivers and partition my SSD drive.
Issue: Upon rebooting, I got the "No bootable device found" error message. I still tried to boot on the USB drive, which I was able to, but           when installing Windows, I was unable to format the partition created by the Boot Camp utility as it contained a "MBR partition table"           instead of a GPT.
    2. Second attempt
         a. I searched the Internet about the error message about the MBR partition table.
         b. The solution I found was to format the partition created by the Boot Camp utility as "Free space".
         c. I was then able to start Windows installation by formatting the partition I wanted to allot it to through the Windows installation process.
Issue: The installation went smoothly until my computer rebooted the first time and the "Peripherals preparation" step (sorry about the           approximate translation, I'm used to the French version of it) got stuck at 10% and was brutally followed by a black screen. Forcing the           computer to restart would show the Windows logo and go straight back to the black screen situation...
    3. Third attempt
         a. I decided to create a bootable Windows installation USB drive using UNetBootin utility and creating a "Free space" partition through Disk      Utility on which to install Windows.
         b. I then booted on the USB Drive and was able to install Windows properly.
         c. I donwloaded the set of Boot Camp drivers through Apple's wesbsite corresponding to my MacBook Air model.
Issue: Somehow, the graphics driver installed by Boot Camp made my system crash as I got a black screen when it tried to install. Even           without doing anything and having Windows try to install the right driver by itself, I got a black screen and an unusable installation of           Windows 8.1.
What am I missing here? Why isn't the Boot Camp utility working when it should be so easy? Is there a compatibility issue of my graphics driver (Intel HD Graphics 4000) with Windows running under Boot Camp?
Thanks in advance for your help. I'm in desperate need of a solution as I don't want to go back to using virtualisation softwares such as Parallels Desktop, VMWare, etc. though they work just fine...
    Best regards,
    Alex

    1. Your MBA does not support EFI/Free Space method.
    2. You need to ensure that your USB is a USB2 device.
    3. The MBR should be checked, because there are known cases where BCA fails to create the MBR.

I have Mac Mini's connected to the Sharp Aquos PN-L702B and PN-L802B touch screens and after updating to 10.9.1 am experiencing what appears to be a compatibility issue with the Sharp TPM driver and the OSX 10.9.1.
