Microsoft Office - HELP!!!

Can somebody help me, my wife uses Office on our Mac at home to produce Powerpoint presentations and then opens them at work on a Windows machine to present them. She has been doing this successfully for a while until last week when this presentation she was doing would not open at her work! She tried opening other files she had previously done and on other computers but nothing. Word documents seem to open fine though its just Powerpoint. Why is this please help is there something in the settings that she is not doing right. I cant understand it myself this is a universal program for both operating sysytems. PLEASE HELP its important she has to do at least three presentations a week and I dont have PC as I hate them!!!

Since Office is not an Apple product, you'll probably want to use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups> rather than an Apple forum that focuses on compatibility issues between Macs and Windows.
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered

  • MBP and microsoft office HELP!!!

I just ordered my MBP a few days ago and got students and teacher version with it, will it run on the computer since it's not a universal program? please help somebody
    MBP 17" 2.16 2gb   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Personally i find the overall performance poor. Every
action takes pretty long before its executed. For
    example inserting an image.
This is a very agreeable statement. I switched to using Pages and Keynote since Microsoft lacks support for Intels. Their response will be a new Universal Office, for purchase later down the road.
The only bad part about solely using iWork is the lack of spreadsheets (if it has them I haven't used them yet). I love excel so it's hard not having office on the computer.
Keynote can do almost everything powerpoint can. Powerpoint is a slightly better overall program, but at least keynote is guaranteed to work properly.
Pages is more difficult to use then Word, so takes some getting used to. I took the time to learn because was fed up with the poor speed of Word, even with typing. Sometimes also, if you close word it doesn't fully close and eats up your processor so it'll look like it's closed in your dock but when you go to activity monitor, it's there trying to close eating away at your processor and battery life. I lost over an hour of battery for like 5 minutes of Word trying to close.
Microsoft doesn't care and Bill Gates just wants to get richer off of us. I'd say put the $50 into iWork and return your Office until the universal binary is out

  • How do I get rid of the Microsoft Setup Assistant loop? I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word, and stuck in a loop?

I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word (for 2008), and stuck in a loop?
Whenever I select Word Microsoft Setup Assistant appears, asks for feedback, then after selecting okay (both on saying yes or no to feedback) goes on to a registration page. When I click on this it says I've already registered so I just click okay, and then move on to a update page. After this, if I click on Word, the process repeats itself.
As I said, I don't have the disk to reinstall, and can't find the Office Settings to delete as many pages have suggested I should try. Safe Boot restarting also hasn't worked... Really stuck and need Word very soon for work.
If you can help, that would be great, and feel free to ask any questions about the situation as I'm not an expert here.
    Cheers,
    Jack

First, export your contact from iCloud.com and save them on your computer in a safe spot some where (like you desktop).  Use this to help you do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606
Next, on both of your devices, go to Settings > iCloud and turn on contacts and select Merge. Then turn off contacts and select 'Delete form my [device]' when prompted.
Now go back to iCloud.com and select a contact (yes they will all be messed up again) and select Command+A on a Mac or Control+A on a PC to select all of the contacts.  Tap the delete key on your keyboard (or right click /control click a contact and select delete).
You iPhone, iPad and iCloud.com should not be empty for contacts.
Go back to Settings > iCloud on both devices and turn on contacts again (you should not see merge this time).
Next, go back to iCloud.com and import your contacts (those exported .vcards).  You can either drag and drop them into the empty contacts list in your web browser, or you can use the gear icon to import.
You cleaned up contacts should import correctly into iCloud.com and sync to both of your devices.
    Good luck.

  • How can i use microsoft office on the mAC - what app do i purchase? help?!!

how can i use microsoft office on the mAC - what app do i purchase? help?!!

What aspect of Microsoft Office? Office is a suite of programs... Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
You've got several potential options. Libre Office and Open Office (both googleable) are 'open source,' free, downloadable programmes that will open most MS Office programmes and perform many of the functions of MS Office. Might be an idea to have a look round for reviews (etc) first, to see if they sound like they'll match your needs.
If you're keen to use the App Store, there's Apple's own suite of programmes: Pages, Numbers and Keynote. They're a word processor, spreadsheet programme, and presentation-type programme with similar functions to Word, Excel and Powerpoint respectively. They're pretty good for most functions, and are better integrated with Macs than MS programmes. They're excellent programmes for what they do, and relatively cheap (about £14 each?).
But if you're heavily reliant on MS, want ALL the bells and whistles of MS, or need to regularly transfer files between MS programmes on other computers and your laptop / desktop computer, then they might not be the best of ideas. Keynote - IME - can have some difficulties in transferring formatting to Powerpoint.
Finally, there's MS Office Mac 2011. You can't download MS Office from the App Store, but can order the CDs from most online stores (including Apple's own store). It might be worth price hunting - if you're a student, you can usually find the programmes relatively cheap (£38 at the moment on Software4Students, though you'll need to belong to an academic institution / have a UK .ac email address). Apple's own prices on MS software are unlikely to be the best prices out there (though the product will be identical).
MS Office includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint in the basic version. The slightly more expensive version (which, I think, is the £38 one on S4S) includes Outlook. Which - IME - is far more of a nuisance than Apple's native Mail programme.
(I should probably add - I'm an academic. I own both Apple's own programmes, and MS Office 2011. I tend to use the MS programmes more, if only because they're the ones that other people tend to use, and transferring between Apple and MS programmes is a minor inconvenience. Pages also lacks Garamond, my favourite work font. The Apple progs are, however, far more beautifully integrated, and would be MORE than good enough for most users...)

  • New Mac User Needs help opening Microsoft office 2007 files on a Mac!!!

I just got a used ibook G4. I had an old Pentium upgrade IBM before. I love my Mac, but I need my old school files form my IBM. I have OpenOffice.org 2.2 for Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I have a file converter program called X 11 that opens with a huge list of options for converting files, but it dose not say Microsoft offices 2007 it says the version numbers. I tryed the latest version and It wouldn't open in OpenOffice.org. Should I use Apple Script instead? I don't have Apple Works do I need it? I just want to look at the files. Why is there not a office viewer for Mac?

    You have Tiger. Tiger=10.4.x; Panther=10.3.x; Leopard=10.5.x.
If you are trying with OpenOffice 2.2, it might be worth updating. I have version 2.4, which is the latest. Since 2.4 fixes a security issue, you should update if you plan to use the application anyway.
NeoOffice, as a previous poster pointed out, should be able to open Office 2007 documents.
See the discussion at http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4542 for the main OpenOffice thread discussing this issue. It discusses the ODF converter at sourceforge which NeoOffice uses to open Office 2007 documents. Apparently, you can use it with regular OpenOffice, too, but if 2.4 doesn't come with it (and maybe it does - I haven't checked), it might be easier to use NeoOffice for now.
X11 is not a file converter, by the way. It is the traditional unix GUI. Apple provides a version of this for OS X which enables you to run applications which haven't been ported to the native OS X environment. OpenOffice for Mac OS X uses X11 as do some other applications, such as GIMP, which you may have heard of/used. NeoOffice is a version of OpenOffice ported to the native OS X environment (i.e. it doesn't have to use X11). I haven't used it in a long time - I always use OpenOffice on X11 - but it is supposed to be very good now and should seem very familiar if you're used to OpenOffice. If you can't get OpenOffice to work with your files, you should definitely try NeoOffice before buying MS Office - unless, of course, you especially want to send MS a few hundred of your preferred currency.
The other thing you can try, if you've still got Office on your IBM machine is converting the files there by opening them and choosing "save as...". That should allow you to select an earlier version of Word/Excel/... which OpenOffice should have fewer problems with. Since you may lose formatting this way, try the other options first. (Also, if you have a lot of files, this option will be very annoying to implement.)
I do not think AppleWorks is likely to help. (I'm not sure if AppleWorks is even still available... somebody?) There are some suggestions Pages might help, but I would personally try the other solutions first. (On the other hand, I have a very old version of Pages.)
AppleScript is almost certainly not what you want. It has nothing to do with AppleWorks. It is a scripting language.
    Good luck,
    cfr

  • IMovie and Microsoft Office NOT WORKING! PLEASE HELP!

Just recently, out of nowhere, my iMovie and Microsoft Office stopped working; they won't turn on. I have Leopard 10.5, and they had been working on it since recently. Whenever I start iMovie, the "This program has quit unexpectedly" window comes up. Here's what I did. Firstly, I reported the problem to Apple and tried relaunching the program. That didn't work. Then, I deleted anything I had downloaded recently that may have affected it. Nothing. Next, I tried going into Library>Preferences and deleting all files with "iMovie" in the name. Nada. I then opened up disk utility and repaired disk permissions; yup, you guessed it, it didn't work. Finally, I archived and reinstalled Leopard, but it's still not working.
As for Microsoft Office, I have only reported the problem and deleted recent downloads. I haven't tried anything else (excluding the Leopard thing) to fix Office.
Please help ASAP! I need both of these applications for an upcoming project... and I may have to see a Mac Genius after this...
    This is my last hope!
    Thank you so much!
My AIM is tas121694 and email is [email protected]
    Thanks again,
    Todd

Well, that tells us that it's most likely something in your user account and not with iMovie or Office in general. If you need to get your videos edited right away and don't have time for troubleshooting, you can transfer them to the other account by copying them into the Users -> Shared folder. That would allow you to have access to them from the working account.
As to fixing the problem, you might try asking in the iMovie forum. It's possible that you have a corrupted project that iMovie keeps trying to open by default and that deleting that project might fix the problem. I'm not an iMovie user, though, so I'm not sure. Asking in the iMovie forum will probably get you more informed suggestions.
As to Office, what version is it, and do none of the applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage) launch, or is it just some and if so which one(s)?

  • Can someone please help. I have a really old MacBook that is running really slow. I want to wipe everything and reinstall the latest software but don't know how to do this. Also is there a way of keeping Microsoft Office when doing this? Thanks in advance

Can someone please help. I have a really old MacBook that is running really slow. I want to wipe everything and reinstall the latest software but don't know how to do this. Also is there a way of keeping Microsoft Office when doing this? Thanks in advance

You do realise that wiping the disk means that everything on the disk is erased. Everything. Photos, music, emails, ...
So the first piece of advice is to make sure you have a back up of everything.
You need the OS disk to reintsall the operating system. You will use that disk first to erase the drive, then to reinstall the OS.
Here's the link for the US.  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
As for MS Office, you will need the original disk that it came on to reinstall it.

  • Important Microsoft Office 2011 Excel File isn't opening Please Help!

    Hello everyone,
I'm having problems opening one single excel file. I've tried others and they open with no issue. This file I'm trying to open now opened 2 days ago as it's a project I've been working on and I desperately need to get back to working on it!
I'm running OS X 10.8.4 on a Macbook Pro with Microsoft Office 2011. When I open the workbook it loads the progress bar, then doesn't show anything from excel apart from the top bar with file/edit/view... etc
When I try and open it from this point it gives me a message
    'XXX.xlsx is already open.
Reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded. Do you want to reopen XXX.xlsx
PLEASE HELP and don't hesistate to ask for anymore information if you need it. Thank you.

Such instances are examples of why one should maintain good backups.  I suggest you consider using Time Macnine backups.  It would allow you to go back in time to earlier versions of the file if a later one is corrupted or if you save unwanted changes by mistake.
You would need a $80 external disk drive for the Time Machine volume.  Your data is much more valuable than that $80 cost.  Disks can fail at any time, taking all of your data with them.

  • All of Microsoft Office has disappeared.  Can't open files in Dropbox.  Help!

All of Microsoft Office has disappeared.  Can't open files, even in Dropbox, even after installing LibreOffice.  Can you help me?

You can try a system restore to a point before the update. If you're lucky, it might work, but I often find System Restore will fail when you need it the most.

  • Microsoft office test drive expired new PowerBook, help

hi. I don't know where else to ask this question. I have had my PowerBook for about 6 hours and I am already frustrated ... I tired to use the Microsoft Office Test Drive that is on the machine only to have it tell me that my 30 day trial has expired. How can it be expired when the PowerBook has only been used for less than 6 hours and Office for the install only? Any suggestions on how to get this to work? Or who to complain to? To Apple? It is almost impossible to complain to Microsoft or to get an answer from them.
I have purchased a copy of Microsoft Office but it hasn't shown up yet.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Help and some explanation how to get a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.Worksheet host item that extends the functionality of the current Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet object

    Hello,
I would use some help and more info about how to get host object that extends the functionality of my current Interop.Excel.Worksheet object. I read this artical: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee794671.aspx where I can call this function
GetVstoObject to get host object. But I see that here I need to pass the Globals.Factory object as second parametar. Can someone give me more details about that parameter and how to access it? I would like to get host object so I can access extension
property, since my interop excel worksheet doesn't have it.
I am using Visual Studio 2013 for developing Excel addin. Using Excel 2010.
    Thanks in advance for help.
    Regards,
    Zeljka

    Hi Zeljka,
    >>I am using the Microsoft Office PIAs, so my question is how to access this automatic generated class Globals in my case?   <<
Sorry, I am not able to understand the application you were developing exactly. From the orgnal post, you were developing an application level add-in, however based on the description above, it seems that you were building an console or Windows form application
    to automate Office application.
If you were developing Office automation, the host item can't work for this secnario since it should run under the VSTO runtime.
If I misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

  • NEED HELP WITH MICROSOFT office/Mac/hacking.

NEED HELP: We installed Parrallels, then Windows 8.1 and go to install Office 365 and the computer won't accept it.  We call Microsoft and they tell us our system has been hacked at the time we installed Windows 8.1.  HELP!!!!! I have got to get may computer fix NOW>>>> I have a bid due in 2 hours and can't get office on my computer and now have a hacked computer..........NOT HAPPY WITH MICROSOFT.  Please can someone help

Only Microsoft can help you get a Microsoft product working. But if what you need is software than can do most of what the various modules of MS Office can do, check out LibreOffice, which is an MS Office compatible Office suite, can run directly on the Mac (no Windows necessary), and is free. Just be sure that if the bid will be an Office document which you'll send to someone else, that you save the document in an MS Office-compatible format so they can open and read it.

  • I deleted my microsoft office:mac 2011 word from my toolbar. I have Mac OS X version 10.6.8.  I tried to reinstall but it won't work. I get an error message each time. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I deleted my microsoft office:mac 2011 word from my toolbar. I have Mac OS X version 10.6.8.  I tried to reinstall but it won't work. This has never happened before.  I get an error message each time. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I don't have time machine.

By Toolbar, do you mean the Dock?  The Translucent bar normally at the bottom of the screen, but sometimes at the right or left side?
If that's what you mean, the Dock is merely a shortcut to what is already inside the Applications folder's Microsoft Office 2011 folder.  If you have Word inside your Microsoft Office 2011 folder, you can drag it back to the Dock.
If you deleted the Microsoft Office folder, or it is empty, you'll have to reinstall it.
If you don't have your registration code, you'll have to call Microsoft for a new one.
