Microsoft Server 2003 / PEAP / WLC 2106

Has anyone ever had a certificate vanishing issue on an M$ Server 2003?  For some strange reason the certificate under my IAS RAS policy keeps disappearing after an undetermined amount of time?  The server is the only DC / CA root / IAS in the forest.  I'm not sure why the self-signed cert. will not remain in the cert. store?
Current config.:
(2) WLC 2106 (both RADIUS clients on DC/IAS)
(5) 1141 LAPs
Authentication: PEAP/MS-CHAPv2
Encryption: TKIP/AES
Any ideas?  Thanks.

In 4.1, disabling DHCP proxy did just that, it disabled the "proxy". If you ever look at your dhcp lease of a wireless client, it comes from a dhcp server of 1.1.1.1 (virtual IP of the controller). With proxy disabled, the address will no longer be masked.
In 4.2 and beyond, disabling dhcp proxy actually disables the DHCP Relay that is the process of the controller sending the dhcp requests to a specified server.
So if in 4.1, you had "dhcp proxy" disabled, in 4.2 and beyond, you are actually disabling the relay as well.
If this is indeed the case, enable dhcp proxy, or add an IP Helper adress to your router for this vlan, just like you would normally do for Wired clients.

  • Can JDK1.3.1_16 be installed on Microsoft Server 2003, Standard Edition?

    Hello,
I installed SDK1.3.1 update 16 on a computer with the operating system Microsoft Server 2003, Standard Edition.
The JAVA_HOME variable was NOT automatically created as part of the installation. So I created it myself.
I installed a voice recognition browser afterwards (that requires JDK1.3.1 update 06 or later) and it could not detect that the appropriate JDK had been installed and/or the JAVA_HOME variable had been set correctly.
Is it normal for the JAVA_HOME variable to not be created automatically? If this is not normal, what could be the problem and how can I rectify it? Again I need a version of JDK 1.3.1 for the browser to work.
    Thanks,
    Bonnie

    Hi Bonnie
Maybe a bit late to comment, but for the record...
I just tried to install JDK1.3.1 on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1 (version 5.2.3790) server.
I initially tried to install 1.3.1_13, but java -version failed quietly with following error in eventvwr logs:
Faulting application java.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module jvm.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000bc1f8.
The application, C:\jdk1.3.1_13\jre\bin\java.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 03/30/2006 @ 08:47:35.425 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6D4DC1F8 (jvm!gHotSpotVMIntConstantEntryValueOffset)I tried uninstalling and reinstalling JDK from Add|Remove Programs, but without success.
I then tried 1.3.1_8 and it worked fine first time.
I then tried 1.3.1_12 and it failed with this eventvwr message
Faulting application java.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module jvm.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000bc1f8.
The exception generated was c0000005 at address 6D4DC1F8 (jvm!gHotSpotVMIntConstantEntryValueOffset)The 1.3.1 documentation that I've read doesn't explicitly mention support for Server 2003.
In contrast, 1.4 explicitly supports Server 2003.

  • Microsoft server 2003 standard edition r2 x64 bit product shows invalid product.

    Dear all,
I am facing a problem, to register  Microsoft server 2003 standard edition r2 x64 bit. My product key is ok. But on time of registration this product it will not accept my key or on Microsoft product registration support it's show its a invalid product.
Please help me to register this product.
    Thanks

You need to contact Microsoft's Activation Center and talk to someone.  The phone numbers for reaching them are on the activation page you go through when trying to activate manually.  Apparently the activation code you have is not 'ok', and only
Microsoft can help you with that.
A second thought is where did you get the media?  If not from a reputable Microsoft source, then it could be the copy you have is a pirated copy with a key that Microsoft has deactivated.  Again, only Microsoft can tell you.

  • Oracle 10g 64-bit (Microsoft Server 2003 64-bit) showing as 32-bit

    Hi there,
This is my first post so go easy with me!
I have built a Oracle 10g 64-bit Standard Edition DB (10.2.0.1) on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 64-bit Standard edition, all is fine, except when I go in to the Host configuration through OEM it seems to think the host system is 32-bit Server 2003 (Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Server 5.2 Service Pack 2 (32-bit)) when it most definietely isn't.
The problem that this seems to cause is that it says the memory size is 4092MB, rather than the 16Gb that is present on the Server, meaning that the Performance Analysis alerts shows "Significant virtual memory paging was detected on the host operating system."
The PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER correctly states it has a System Environment EM64T Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 8, GenuineIntel (2 x physical dual-core Xeon processors).
Exiting out through sqlplus shows "Disconnected from Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production" so it definitely is the correct version!
I can't see any problems anywhere, I am going to install the latest service pack for Oracle (The operating system is patched up and upto date) to see if this makes any difference, but as this is a standard straight forward install I'm now very confused, and thought I would ask here incase anyone else has had this problem, or anyone has any ideas!?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robbie

    Hi,
Sorry for not getting back sooner with a reply!
Since the 10.2.0.3 patch, our Oracle usage is now up at 8gb so doesn't sound like we are having the same problem as yourself, although we are getting the same message "Significant virtual memory paging was detected on the host operating system." like yourself but with no recommendations, although I can't see what the problem is now causing this, and doesn't appear to be causing any actual problems. Are you still having your 4gb limitation problem?
Does anyone else have this problem with Oracle 10.2.0.3 64-bit on Windows Server 2003 64-bit platforms? I'm waiting for someone to say 10.2.0.4 will fix this!
    Thanks,
    Robbie

  • Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2003 broke our online connection to our self-hosted website

We have two office computers with Microsoft Server 2003. On one of these machines, we have hosted our own website for about 10 years. Eveything worked well until yesterday night, when Microsoft upgraded  our webhost machine with Service Pack 2. When
it was done, the only noticeable result is that we lost an internet connection to our own website.  We had upgraded our other office server with Service Pack 2 a number of years ago, but that had no negative effect on our operations.
Our website, originally created with ASP.Net in Visual Studio 2005, is a relatively simple one, almost all text-based, with a default.htm home page which comes up on any browser, and from which users can use click buttons to move to secondary
pages. Now, following the Service Pack 2 downloading last night, all that shows up on a browser screen when someone seeks our website is a bold-face "FOLDER LISTING../" message.
We under standard there is a program feature that directs a website visitor directly to the home page of that website.
So what is that program feature? Where do we find it? How do we reconstruct it or modify it so that our website default.htm home page appears on the screen?
We intend to upgrade our two office servers to Microsoft Server 2012 within a few months.  But we would be most unhappy to be told that we must pay a tech consultant a hefty service charge to restore or repair a vital link that Microsoft's
operating system service pack destroyed, even if inadvertantly.

You should be able to configure that on IIS level. See that: http://www.iis.net/configreference/system.webserver/defaultdocument
More if you ask them here: http://forums.iis.net/

  • Microsoft server installed for trainng purposes

    Hello,
I have 3-4 computers in my home and one of those is an old Dell dimension 3000 (windows XP).
I have recently learned the basics about Microsoft server 2003 and I was thinking to install a copy in my old Dell. The goal is to create  a real life environment and train myself in working as administrator with Microsoft server 2003. I know it is
almost obsolete now (as well as XP ) but it is better than nothing.
    My questions are:
    1) Is my plan realistic? Is it possible to do this? Am i going to gain experience in working with Microsoft server?
    2) I meet the basic requirements for installing Microsoft server but is there something else i WILL NEED besides the copy of the Microsoft server 2003? In other words, am I going to be able to connect some of the computers (or all) and create roles, accounts,
    group policies etc?
I hope my questions make sense....

Sorry, a force of habbit caused me to mistype above.  Windows 2008 "R2" is 64-bit only.  Try with Windows 2008 SP2, which comes in both varieties.  Once you do this, open device manager to see if you need to get any further drivers.  BTW,
Windows 2008 SP2 drivers are essentially the same as vista drivers, if you need to download anything from the dell web site.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Windows 8 Compatibility

Is there a fix or workaround for accessing email via Outlook 2013 (Windows 8) when your company uses Microsoft exchange server 2003 and has not plans on upgrading it any time soon. I am a remote employee so I am the only one that has this problem in the
company. I can access email through an owa account but it's a pain. I tried to set up a rule to have all incoming mail forwarded to my gmail account in Outlook 2013, but that did not work. Any other ideas?

If server has enabled ActiveSync you can use Windows 8 Mail Client - works almost like Outlook.
AFAIR Outlook 2013 can't work with Exchange 2003.

  • Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Assessment and Planning tool (MAP)

Preparing for the end of support for Windows Server 2003 (4/2015) and the need to migrate from Windows Server 2003, I have been directed on several sites run the Microsoft Assessment
and Planning tool (MAP) to aid in identifying any software and hardware issues.   Apparently this tool has been recently updated (7/2014) and cannot be installed on a Windows Server 2003 system.  As it requires .NET Framework 4.5 to run.  Unfortunately,
.NET Framework 4.5 cannot be installed on a Windows Server 2003 as it only supports .NET 4.0.x versions.  All older version links to the MAP tool have been updated to link directly to version 9.1.  Where can I get a MAP tool version that will run
    on Windows Server 2003?

    Hi,
Yes, i would agree with arnavsharma
After the environment scan has been completed in Windows Server 2008r2 or another supported OS, MAP looks at computers running earlier versions of Windows.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee677580.aspx
Meanwhile, for the MAP related issue, you'd better ask in MAP forums:

  • Error detected by export DLL. Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP 1

    Post Author: craig.engelbrecht
    CA Forum: .NET
I have an Excel report that stopped working on a live environment a couple months ago. When I run the report I get the error 'Error detected by export DLL'.The server is running Microsoft Windows Small Business Server, Service Pack 1 and is using Crystal Reports 9.I am unable to replicate this error on other environments running the same configuration.I tried installing 'crnet11win_en.exe', even though this was a fix for Windows Server 2003 SP2, still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this and how it can be fixed?? Thanks,Craig

    Thanks Ludek
We found the issue after doing control tests, here.
We found that our crystal viewer, developed in .NET 2003, does not work with XP SP3, even with the fix crnet11win_en.exe.
    Our control test, was:
Ran report with XP SP2, exported ok
Upgraded pc to XP SP3, then ran report again, Report failed to export, with error message as described.
Had a crystal viewer set for  using .NET 2005 files, but not yet ready for deployment to users, tested and was able to export to excel using .NET 2005 with XP SP3.
The issue seems to relate to exportmodeller.dll, which was the issue in the past when XP was upgraded and stopped the export function from working before.
