Middleware approach in mobile computing

hi guys,
can any one help me in writing the code for this topic
" This project targets at developing a prototype system that provides a middleware
solution to support the communication between PDA clients and web servers over
wireless network.
The case study of this prototype includes a PDA client requesting information of the
location inside a university campus. The request is sent through PDA over wireless
network covered in the campus to a web server. The web server can return text, image
and audio1 about "where am I" information on the PDA. The server can also be able
to answer questions such as "how do I get to x from y?" would also be of use to any
newcomer on campus. This system is useful for a newcomer to the university by just
sending the request through the website using his or her PDA.

If you guys have any solution regarding this please let me know.

    Hi,
    If you're getting Smart errors this would indicate that your Hard Drive is failing and will need to be replaced.
    If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
    If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
    If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
    If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

  • Active Directory and Mobile computer with 10.8.4

    I've managed to get our Power Book (first mac on network) on AD domain, it was a labor of love,
    I have gotten every thing working smooth, Volumes mounted with and without Alias, but the last thing I am trying to configure is Mobile Computing,
    so a user can work off the Network and have it Sync when he logs back in. Mobile computer pulls the UNC from AD fine and mounts his home directory, however it does not sync to his home directory on the network...
    I am sure I am missing something silly, but right now my brain is fried... Any help please?

    Got it, thanks guys works pretty well too... I don't know why it wasn't working before, AD integration is still strange.

  • Java for mobile computer!

    Hi!
    I have a mobile computer that runs Microsoft Windows Embedded CE. NET 4.2... I can access the Internet with it, but I can't run jsp scripts... what do I have to install in my mobile computer to run jsp scripts???
    null

    When you say you cannot run jsp scripts, do you mean jsp pages on the internet, if so this has nothing to do with your devise as you only need an HTML browser to access jsp, all processing is done on the server.
    If you are tryinjg to run pages locally you will need java installed, and web-server software installed.
    You can get Java for mobile devices, but I dont think you would get a web-server running.

  • Amazing iPhone - mobile computing as it should be

    Sadly too often these fora only cover issues that cause people problems (btw, have others noticed that the proportion of posts that simply complain has gone up? I am concerned that the old community spirit amongst Apple users may be diminishing).
    I thought i'd post about a truly amazing iPhone experience recently. For me, this really points to what is possible and to the future.
    We have been on holiday/vacation in San Francisco (admittedly fairly close to Cuppertino, but still). As usual we had some days where we did lots of walking. Not only did we use GPS and Google Maps to locate and track us but, much more impressively than that, when it was time to return to our hotel we sought and obtained directions that told us which buses to use, where to change, for what fare and when the buses were due to arrive. Of course we could then use GPS to track process.
    Doubtless some will argue that part of the romance of travel is being lost in foreign cities. Let them leave their iPhones switched off or at home. I found it incredible, when we were tired of walking, that my little pocket computer got us back so effortlessly and without stress.
    Needless to say, iPhone scored heavily in other holiday areas, such as finding info, booking a hire car, using Open Table to book meals &c. Also, mobile me has been really good at keeping me in touch and letting me post photos for my family and friends.
    Three cheers for iPhone this Christmas then. I feel genuinely impressed and cheerful and wanted to share that with others.

    Glad to hear it. And glad to hear you are enjoying my home town.
    Hubby and I just drove from SF Bay Area to Colorado along I-80. Along the way, I used my phone to check weather/temp of cities in our path, radar maps, checked for chain requirements, etc. The phone totally beat the weather channel on our on-board Sirius because we could pinpoint small towns that were not being reported on the radio. I used app iWant to check for restaurants in the area. We didn't need GPS because we have that on board. But all in all, the phone was a definite help on our trip.

  • Measure mobiles computational performance

    The source code here measures mobile phones computational performance. Is there anybody who can explain for me what is the thougt behind the pi? What does pi?
    computationPerformance= pi(10);
    1617 //allows the JIT compiler to optimize the function pi(long)
    1618 computationPerformance= 400000 / pi(500000);
    1823 private int pi(long max)
    1824 {
    1825 int p= 0;
    1826 long m= 100000000l;
    1827 long start= System.currentTimeMillis();
    1828 while (max > 0)
    1829 {
    1830 p += (int) (m / (max * max--));
    1831 }
    1832 long duration= System.currentTimeMillis() - start;
    1833 if (p - 4 == 0)
    1834 {
    1835 // Stupid test (never true) to fool the optimizer, which would think p is useful.
    1836 duration= 0;
    1837 } /* we could compute PI this way :
    1838 double pi;
    1839 pi=Math.sqrt(6.0d*p/(double)m);
    1840 */
    1841 return (int)duration;
    1842 }

    Well, it id often used in benchmarks... but there is no relationship. Any other algorithm would do just as well.

  • Want to develop mobile - computer interface application

    Hello all,
    I want to develop a cellphone and computer interface application which is almost similiar to NOKIA PC suite. Please help me which kind of softwares and tools do I require.

    Welcome to the wonderous world of mobile java programming ;)
    Well, you might start off with telling us what you already do know, and what you would like to know. Do you know anything about java. If yes, then that's a huge plus. If not, I suggest that you first learn something about normal standard java beforer you begin with the mobile stuff.

  • Gun-Grip Mobile Computer With Windows Embedded

    I'm really not sure where else to post this question so if there is somewhere better I would be happy to be redirected. We currently have some Gun-Grip Motorola mobile devices that run Windows CE 6.0 which have been difficult in the past for our developer
    to work with between Motorola's very limited support and the lack of info on the OS and the strange things that happen with the Windows mobile device sync. It currently is working to an extent but there is no way to tie the devices into Active Directory or
    have much control over them (of which I am aware). We also want to do WPA2 Enterprise and I'm not sure if those can handle that with all of the certificate infrastructure required (especially since the full version of Windows XP SP3 requires a hot fix for
    this I believe). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. It would be great if there were something similar that runs Windows 7 or 8 Embedded but I'm not even aware of a CE version past 6.0 (but it doesn't really have to be CE anyway). I
    don't like the idea of keeping Windows CE 6.0 in our environment as it is very limited (which I know is kind of the point) and it is technically Windows XP (which we're trying to get away from). It doesn't necessarily have to be another gun grip device but
    I was just wondering what other people use in Windows Environments. The gun is being used to scan inventory and directly reference/record to a SQL Database. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

    The Windows CE forum is now Windows Embedded Compact forum, which can be found here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsembeddedcompact

  • Airport and iBook Mobile Computing

    I have 20 iBooks that I use in various classrooms throughout our school. Students have to log in to their account with a username and password. Sometimes students cannot log in to the network. Then I log in as admin and the wireless comes up then I log out and they can log in. Any ideas how to fix this where they can log in the first time?

    Hi Kris, Try checking;
    1. Your Modem to see wether it's not malfunctioning(this includes leads too)
    2. That your Airport is intact with all cables plugged in.
    3. IF your DNS settings are manual that they are correct.
    4. That your phone line isn't the problem.
    5. Or it could be that your internet service provider is just very busy and it's nothing to do with your airport. Ofetn people get disconnected as the server becomes flooded. If you can try with another wireless server e.g schools if they have one.
    That's all I can think of atm sorry I would check on my ibook to see what the setting options etc are like however it's broken atm
    Anyways Good luck hope this helps, and I'll try and think of more ideas.
    Regards Mike.

  • Mobile computing service suggestions? E.g., Tmo, Verizon, etc

    My company is looking at getting a service like Tmobile or Verizon so that our laptops can have access anywhere. I'm wondering if anyone's had success with one service vs the other?? Equipment options also??

    All of the major carriers offer cellular data network solutions for laptops that work with Macs. Hardware is USB-based (works with any Mac) or ExpressCard/34-based (works with some, +but not all,+ MacBook Pros - check the specs). USB is a safe bet.
    Which one is best for your company will depend, more than anything else, on what a carrier's network coverage is like in the areas where you'll need it. For example, I have it on good authority that AT&T has no 3G data coverage in the cornfields of Nebraska.

  • Scenario 3 - Different approaches to computing aggregates

    In this training you learn two approaches to computing aggregates. In one case, you change the filtering dimension on the Query and then add data of the filtering dimension. In another case, you keep the filtering dimension the same as the targeting dimension and then you add data linked to the filtering (targeting) dimension. Both of these approaches work when computing aggregates. How will your results differ based on the approach that you take?

    Currency conversion can be done at two stages.
    1. Data Modelling stage
    2. Reporting stage
    Data Modelling Stage:
    *Adv: *
    Time taken to have complete data available for reporting is only loading time (background job), so query reporting is very fast, as no calculations at reporting level for currency conversion
    Disadv:
    If you want to convert to one particular target currency, this approach is preferable but if you want to report at different currencies, you cant convert to all those currencies at modelling side as it leads to huge data in the cubes.
    And even this approach is not flexible also, if a new target currency comes to picture, you need to modify the code, load again
    Problem with exchange rates also comes into picture here, as at the time of loading you might be considering one exchange rate, at reporting side, if you want to look at data with different exchange rate, its not possible.
    Reporting Stage:
    Adv:
    Can report on any target currency and at any exchange rate by defining calculations at query designer level. This process is flexible enough.
    Disadv:
    Many calculations at query level might lead to performace issues at runtime.

  • Mobile Agents System

    Hi,
    I'm trying to implement a Distributed system for Mobile Agents, but I'm new in Distributed Computing, Could any one suggest a book/tutorial/desing pattern for developping a Middleware that supports Mobile Agents using RMI??
    thanks.

    Hey, I wish I could direct you to a good paper about this, but all I really have is http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aglets which is the starting point I used years ago to do distributed agents. The problem is that they were single-trip agents and not per se `mobile.'
    The concept however, is very easily accomplished via RMI through much of the new push for JNDI.

  • Interactive Maps on mobile devices

    We have a client who has needs a plotted map which has to be interactive (data points with drill down).
    The client needs this functionality on desktop as well as mobile devices (iphone, ipad, android, blackberry)
    I have done a poc for the desktop with dvt:geographic map and saw that it caters for the interactivity, but this isn't available on ADF mobile (which is our preferred approach for mobile interface)
    Currently I am investigating options to bring map interactivity on the mobile devices without having to go down the route of native mobile applications.
    I was thinking that calling the Mapviewer API directly might resolve our issue. Is this a feasible approach? Looking at my requirement, could you suggest a good path to solution?
    thanks in advance,
    Jaseer

    Jaseer,
    Check again the ADF Mobile.
    The new version released this week, supports DVT Geographic Map Component.
    Luis.

  • How to capture signature on mobile and send it to the bapi

    Hi all,
    I developed an Mobile application(7.1) in which signature capture should be there.
    1)How to capture this signature and send it to the backend .
    2)How I have to define the function module for this requirement?
    Thanks and regards,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
    Here are the steps:
    1. First, you have a signature capture tool. Most of the phones come with their own signature capture tools. For example, for Pocket PC - you can go to the MSDN site and then download the capture program.
    2. The captured signature should then be stored as an JGP/ PDF/ or any version.
    3. In your mobile application, you have to convert this file into binary format. This must be uploaded to the mobile middleware
    In the mobile middleware, you must ensure that attachments are enabled. You can refer to this [link |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?ath=/display/mobile/createapplicationsusingBinaryMemoandTextMemoinNetweaverMobile+7.1] for actions that you must do in the middleware and in the back-end.
