Hello,
I wanted to export a Oracle DB 11.2.04 in suse 11 SP 2 environment. Try many java version from oracle 1.8.0_45, kernel and sap java 4.1. Get a lock error or a java exception.

1. I see you are running out of /tmp. Don't use /tmp. Please create/use another f/s.
2. Make sure the permissions on the directory (and files) you use are at least 775 for sidadm/sapsys (recursive)
3. Please run the following and post the output.
"which java"
"java -version"
"lsof | grep -i ExportMonitor"
"env"
4. Explicitly set JAVA_HOME before starting migmon (sidadm)
eg: export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java6_64
5. Check your LIBPATH

I am trying to export my DB since I will move it to another system. I have done that before (2008) but not with Migration Monitor since I could not get it to work. At that time I could choose R3load-based method and everything went fine.
This time I don't have that option so I must try to fix my problem.
I have HP-UX 11.23 running on IA64.
If I try to run ./export_monitor.sh (or ./sapinst and skip the table splitting function) I get this result:

If I use the sapinst and set it to split the files I get "Lock file 'PackageSplitter.lck' is locked by other process.".
But the file is NOT used by another process!
I use root and yes the users SIDadm and oraSID are in the group sapinst and yes I have set the permissions to 777 and yes the umask is 022 and yes I have downloaded the latest migmon and decompressed it to these locations (I picked all three just in case):

If you smart people know how to fix this I would be very happy and also impressed. I have no idea what to do and my message to SAP is still not answered...

No, I have not done a fuser on the file. But I have tried to edit it and that works just fine.
I also have restarted the server, just in case.
But now when I am writing this something nice has happened.
On the server I am testing I have HP-UX 11.23 but my production servers have 11.31 so I tried to start the export on that server (scary). It seems to work!! Sadly I must export all of my systems but this makes me believe theat it is the OS that is old or don't have enough patches.
swlist on my old server tells me that I am missing a couple of patches compared to SAP Note 837670. I think I have to call the HP-UX department at my office... Um wait, that would be me since it is vacation season....

The issue is fixed.
Our XML Publisher TMP is not defined, so it uses the APPLTMP used by concurrent manager. There is a folder xdofonts/<SID> in $APPLTMP. It contains the fonts used by XML publisher and on the of font file (.ttf) was 0 byte. We copied the ttf file from QA. And it started working.
Best practice is to define diffent TMP for concurrent managers and XML Publisher.

Locks file on a file server

Under Captivate 3 (as part of the full Tech. Comm. Suite),
I'm authoring Captivate presentations on a Windows XP PC, and
storing archive copies of the resultant .cp and stand-alone .exe
files on a file server. These server copies are never opened/edited
directly by the application - all editing is done against the local
PC files, and regular Windows operations are used to copy the files
off to the server.
About 95% of the time, any attempt to delete, move to another
folder, or rename a server side .cp file fails, when attempted from
a PC with Captivate installed. This happens after a long delay
(10-20 seconds). The message is that the file is locked by another
person or program, please close it and try again. Common tools that
attempt to "punch-through" such locks report the file as "not
locked", but still fail. A Captivate authored .exe (sporting the CP
icon) also induces the same delay, but ultimately can be touched.
Non-CP files in the same directory show no delay whatsoever. A
non-Captivate PC can freely alter these server files, without
experiencing locks nor delays. Cold-booting the workstation and
attempting the file server operations before starting any Captivate
sessions does not alleviate the problem.
Any ideas what gives? Are there Adobe background processes
that are holding locks, even when the foreground application is
shut down - such as some sort of Adobe file indexer?

Unidentified Locked File Prevents PS CS6 From Opening

Photoshop CS6 (64 bit/ Windows 7) installed and ran perfectly. On second and subsequent runs, I get the Windows message "Could not open a scratch file becausethe file is locked, you do not have nevessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in Windows explorer to unlock the file." The message does not specify which file is locked or by whom.I run as administrator, and this is the first program I run - only system programs should be running in the background. Tried PCMag TaskPower, which supposedly provides a list of all locked files and allows you to force an unlock, but could not ID any possible culprits.

Many people try to relocate things off of C: in an attempt to use a too-small SSD, or sometimes to reduce the write load on an SSD.
Photoshop does NOT work well in this condition.
I don't know why, but I *DO* know I've seen quite a number of reports here by people who must run it As Administrator that say it does not like relocated folders.
Other things besides Photoshop don't work as well with this kind of activity either. Basically you're banking on every programmer always following all the rules to retrieve the folder locations, and doing all the right things - rather than hard-coding paths. And why use the super-fast SSD technology if you're going to move all the stuff that actually gets accessed off onto another (spinning) disk? It seems silly.
Fundamental advice:
1. If you're going to build a system using SSD, don't skimp. Overprovision a huge amount of extra storage for drive C:. You can do this with a very large SSD or an array of SSDs. Then you need not worry about relocating things that just work better if left in their default locations on drive C:.
2. If you're worried over the write load on your SSD, know that modern SSDs (within the last year) have implemented significant advances in flash write balancing so that this is essentially a non-issue. Pretty much any modern SSD should run for 10 years under normal use (i.e., without special settings or backflips to relocate data).
As proof of the above advice, on my Windows 7 system I have personally configured a large SSD RAID array as a 2 TB drive C:, allowing everything to be at the default locations, and all is well indeed. I even have Photoshop's scratch files on C:, and to be honest I can hardly tell when the RAM fills and Photoshop begins heavily accessing its scratch files.

Locked file problem with WebDAV

I am using DreamWeaver CS3 on my Macintosh at home and on a
PC at work. I am connecting to my website via WebDAV, and for some
reason Dreamweaver cannot edit the files on the site. When I try to
check out any file I get an error stating: "file.html is locked and
can be viewed but not edited" I then have the option to check it
out or view or cancel. Regardless of what I do, if I continue and
open the file and make changes the file will not get updated on the
remote server even though Dreamweaver reports a successful "put" or
"check in" command in the log file. This happens on both the
Macintosh and the Windows PC. Both are also updated to the latest
versions of Dreamweaver.
The strange thing is, if I mount the WebDAV server as a
filesystem on my macintosh and authenticate with the same
login/password that entered in Dreamweaver's WebDAV settings, I can
edit the html files using a text editor and they save perfectly
fine. Additionally, while the web server is mounted on the desktop,
if I change Dreamweaver's site settings to "local/network" and
enter the locally mounted WebDAV share path instead of using
Dreamweaver's built-in WebDAV client, then everything works
properly in Dreamweaver. Reverting back to using WebDAV in
dreamweaver (as opposed to through the OS) brings about the same
"locked file" problem as before.
There appears to be a problem with Dreamweaver's WebDAV
access to the site, and I'm wondering if there's an easy fix or if
this has been experienced by others?

Have a look at FileUtils::DecomposeUnicode and NormalizeUnComposedUnicodeChars. Use the first to convert before using i.e. FileUtils::PMStringToSysFile() and the later afetr i.e. FileUtils::IDFileToPMString().

Vmware NFSLock lock file version mismatch BUSY

Hey everyone, I got a problem with one of our NFS datastores but I can't seem to interpret the error.
This is what I can see in /var/log/vmkernel.log

This error keeps showing up with just a few seconds interval on all hosts connected to the store, even if we have no active VMs on it. Does anyone know how we can troubleshoot this and "version mismatch" means in this case?

All url's stuck connecting. uninstalled and reinstalled no help. deleted parental lock file, no help

what more can i say, its ridiculous, what's worse is that when you try to play the locked mp3 it tells you you have a hard disk error, prompting me to drive mac back to the store!!!!
have just spent all night reformatting, only to accidently copy three locked mp3s again!!!!!!!!!

Locked files cannot be removed without doing some serious business in a black screen. I dont like the idea of that, if you check the relevant discussion, you will see that this issue has not been answered/resolved, despite some joker adding "press option whilst choosing delete" IT DOESNT WORK!
What's the 'serious business in a black screen' you've been trying? What relevant discussion are you referring to? Can you recap here what you've already tried or post a link to the relevant discussion?

Could be. What file permissions do they have on a Windows machine? How are the files being copied across to the Mac? What permissions does OS X report them as having?

Don't dare try what exactly? If the OS is complaining about hard disk errors then I'd definitely concentrate on fixing those first, but again we need more information about what error messages you are seeing here and what you've tried to do already to fix things.

Cannot Lock File Error Message in FrameMaker 10

When opening a multi-file book in FrameMaker (v.10.0.0.338), I'm receiving an error message that states, "Cannot Lock File. Cannot lock this file for your use. Your changes to it may conflict with the work of others." We're a small department, I'm the only one that works in this book, and I know no one else has opened these files. The error message gives me the option to "Continue" or "Cancel." Selecting "Continue" opens Save Document, but when I try to save I receive another message, "Save Document. The directory of disk t: is full. Choose another directory or disk." I work on a network drive, have rebooted, but no luck. I've used FrameMaker for years and have never experienced this issue. Thoughts?? Getting a bit desperate here.

Check the drive out - sounds like permissions may have changed on you or you really are running out of space. The other thing is to look for .lck files that were left behind; sometimes they don't get cleared when you exit out.

Can you lock files in your Finder? I know you can lock the entire drive, but can you lock a specific one?

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

ORA-27086: unable to lock file over NFS -- but it's NOT Netapp!

My 10.2 database crashed, and when it came back I got the following error:
ORA-00202: control file: '/local/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/dbs/lkFOOBAR'
ORA-27086: unable to lock file - already in use
Linux-x86_64 Error: 11: Resource temporarily unavailable
This is a classic symptom of a Netapp problem, which likes to hold file locks open on NFS mounts. There is a standard procedure for clearing those locks; see, for instance, document 429912.1 on Metalink.
Unfortunately, my files are mounted on an Isilon, one of Netapp's twisted cousins. I can find no references to "isilon" on Metalink, and we are at a loss how to resolve this.
My sysadmin assures me that "there are no locks on the Isilon". But I know this cannot be the case, because if I do the following:
1. delete the lockfile /local/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/dbs/lkFOOBAR, and then
2. move my controlfiles aside, and then copy them back into place,
then the database will mount. However, it will not open, because now all the datafiles have locks.
Is there anyone with experience in clearing NFS locks? I know this is more of a SA task than DBA, but I am sure my SA has overlooked something.

New information:
As stated above, I moved the controlfiles aside and then copied them back into place, like this:
mv control01.ctl control01-bak.ctl
cp control01-bak.ctl control01.ctlDid that for each controlfile, and then the database mounted.
But, after rebooting the machine, we discovered that all locks were back in place-- it looks like the system is locking the files on boot-up, and not letting them go. The lock is held by PID 1, which is init.
sculkget: lock held by PID: 1This is definitely looking like a major system issue, and not a DBA issue, and hence I have little right to expect assistance in this forum. But nonetheless I lay my situation out here before you all in case someone else recognizes my problem before the server bursts into flames!
The system is CentOS 4.5-- not my choice, but that's the way it is.

As per requirement from Oracle GSI team, they need index xml file of corresponding generated pdf file for their own business scenario.

     In r12 we have a privilege to use page number variable through oracle.apps.xdo.batch.ControlFile

          public static final String VAR_TOTAL_DOCS = "${VAR_TOTAL_DOCS}";

Is there any similar java library which do the same thing in fusion .

          Section 7.11.3.2 Invoking Processors with InputStream .
But this is not helping much to me. Is there any other document/view-let which covers these thing .
