Migrating 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3 Classic - Import/Export

Good morning all -
I have exported my 11.1.2.1 .xml file and attempted to import it to my Classic 11.1.2.3 FDM application through the Workbench.  I received an error message:
"3108 - The XML file selected is based on an old schema level (1112100).  A schema level of (1112300) or greater is required for this version of FDM."
The schema upgrade tool seemed to just want to upgrade my FDM application - is there some trick to getting the .XML in the correct shape to import?
Thanks,
Sarah

You cannot import a lower level schema XML into a higher level DB Schema.
To migrate your FDM application from 11.1.2.1. you will need to use <Add Application> to add the 11.1.2.1. application to the 11.1.2.3 enviornment and then run the schema update utility to upgrade the 11.1.2.1. application database to the 11.1.2.3 schema level.
If using Oracle:
Use the Oracle Database Utilities to perform an extract of the Oracle User Schema in the FDM Source Environment to a .dmp file.
Copy the .dmp file from the source environment over to the FDM 11.1.2.3 environment Oracle Database Server.
In the target environment create a new Oracle User/Schema for the FDM application database as well as the corresponding tablespaces that exist in the source Oracle Database Server Environment.**Please refer to the Hyperion FDM DBA Guide for information on recommended tablespaces and tuning parameters for the Oracle Database.  This guide is available on the Oracle Technology Network.
Use the Oracle Database Utilities to import the .dmp file from the source environment into the newly generated user schema in the 11x Oracle Database environment.**Note: This process should be performed by the Oracle Database Administrator.
Step #2: Copy the FDM application directory from the Source FDM environment over to the FDM 11.1.2.3 Environment.
Launch the FDM Workbench Client in the source FDM environment and choose <Add Application> from the application drop down.  Login to the workbench as a power user.
A list of FDM applications will be returned. Highlight the application that is being migrated to the 11x environment and choose modify
The Application Path will be displayed. The share that stores the FDM application directories (\\servername\sharename\appname) will need to be copied to the 11.1.2.3 environment.
Share out the FDM application folder in the 11.1.2.3 environment allowing the FDM service Account full share and NTFS Permissions to the directory.
Step #3: Add the Application to the 11.1.2.3 environment
In the 11.1.2.3 environment launch the workbench client and choose <Add Application>
Login to the workbench with a user from the FDM application that was migrated. The user will have to be a user that could login to the previous environment s application.
Click the Add button when the application screen is returned.
Populate the General tab and Database Tab of the Add Application screen
General Tab: i) Name: FDM application name. This must match the name of the application folder within the application share. (i.e. \\servername\share\app1) would have app1 populated in this field.
ii) Description: FDM application description if necessary
iii) App Path: UNC path to the copied Application directory (i.e. \\servername\share\appname)
iv) App Group: Select the fdm application group from the drop down list that was created in shared services
Database Tab: i) Select the appropriate OLE DB Provider from the drop down list. OLEDB.ORACLE for Oracle Databases or SQLOLEDB for SQL Server Databases.
ii) Service: Enter the Oracle Service Name for the 11x environment Oracle Database that contains the FDM Application Schema that was imported
Database Server: Name of Microsoft SQL Server Database Server for 11x environment
Database Name: Name of FDM application Database that was restored in the 11x environment
iii) User/Schema: Oracle Database Schema in 11x environment that .dmp file was imported into.
Password: Password of Oracle User/Schema
Step #4: Use Schema Update Utility to Update Application Database to the 11.1.2.3 schema level
Choose Start >Programs > Oracle EPM System > Financial Data Quality Management > Workbench > Schema Update
Choose the Application that has been migrated from the drop down list of applications and login with the native user that was created in shared services and used to add the application. A new screen displaying the application name and the current schema level will be displayed. Click Run to update the application database to the 11.1.2.3 schema level.

  • FAQ: How do I migrate my saved presets from an earlier version of Photoshop or import/export them?

You now have the option to migrate presets from a previous version, export presets and to save to a directory as a zip file (great for instructors).
Preset Migration migrates your saved presets, not your preferences. The message says "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"  It simply carries on the preset files you have already saved (things like Brush Tips, HDR Toning presets, Curve presets, Styles etc.)  to CS6.
HOW TO USE PHOTOSHOP CS6 AUTOMATED PRESET MIGRATION
Photoshop CS6 offers the great new functionality of automated preset migration for your custom presets from Photoshop versions as far back as CS3.
When Photoshop CS6 launches for the first time, it checks for previous installations of Photoshop on the computer to see if there are custom presets that need to be migrated. Photoshop looks in each of these presets folders for your saved custom preset files that it can migrate.
Preset migration script copies all the files in user preset folders of older versions. If there are more than one preset files with the same name, presets from the newer version will be given priority. These types of presets will be migrated by the script:
3DLUTs, Actions, Black and White, Brushes, Channel Mixer, Color Books, Color Swatches, Contours, Curves, Custom Shapes, Deco, Duotones, Exposure, Flash 3D, Gradients, HDR Toning, Hue and Saturation, Levels, Lighting Effects, Lights, Materials, Meshes, Optimized Colors, Optimized Output Settings, Optimized Settings, Patterns, Render Settings, Repousse, Scripts, Styles, Tools, Video, Volumes, Widgets, Zoomify, and Workspaces
If this is not your first launch and you would like Photoshop to look for presets,
Choose Edit > Presets > Migrate Presets
When Photoshop notices that you have custom presets saved in their appropriate folders it will give the message "Would you like to migrate presets from the following versions?"
Choose Yes. Photoshop will begin the preset migration script.
When the migration has completed Photoshop will pop up another message saying:
"Preset files from older versions successfully migrated"
In order to use your newly migrated presets, you must restart Photoshop.
If you had Photoshop CS6 beta installed and have saved custom presets, you will need to export those presets before uninstalling the previous version and installing the release version of Photoshop CS6.
    HOW TO SAVE PRESETS
For PS, check that you have saved all your presets using:
Edit>Preset Manager... (in previous versions) Edit>Presets>Preset Manager... (in CS6)
HOW TO IMPORT AND EXPORT PRESETS
    In the main PS menu,
    Choose Edit > Presets > Export/Import Presets
In this dialog you can export the presets and then import them when you load the new version using the same Export/Import dialog.
If you have gone through the automated preset migration and notice that some of your presets didn't get migrated with the rest, make sure you have exported your presets to their default folders.
    PRESET FILE LOCATIONS:
(Note that there are two different folder locations for presets, one for application provided default presets, and one for user created preset files)
These are the presets that are unique to each user on the computer. These can be migrated automatically: (this is the location that the user should save their personal presets in)
    Windows:  Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
    Mac:  Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets
These are the default presets that ship with Photoshop.  These presets can be imported but will not copy over using the migrate feature because each version of Photoshop will install defaults for that version.

Do you have an  iPhoto Library from the old machine? If you have then simply open it - there's no importing involved.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
If you don't have an actual library there is no way to do what you want.

  • Regarding Workflow 2.6.2 backup/migration/import/export

hi folks. i m quite amazed that this forum does not provide any answer to the question of taking backup of workflow 2.6.2 or import/export of owf_mgr schema. if one cannot take backup how this oracle workflow is stable. how this product is suitable for any organization. its a very basic requirement. ok its about processes and states.... but, even then i cant get the logic of not taking a backup. sometime we have to move data across servers
the only answer that i have seen for this is way back jan-09-2003 that its not possible yet. its now 2006 any one who can guide may be i got something or many a things wrong.

    hi folks,
    thanks for reply
Matt: considering ur statment para what i get for para 1
Full backup is fine - although there are some objects which are owned by SYS, as long as youare going from one database with WF installed to another one, you should be OK.
    is
what i understand that u are talking about taking backup of entire database and not of just owf_mgr from export utility. if this is the case then do i really need to have owf_mgr user/schema installed where i have to import that backup
    Secondly for Para 2
Runtime data is a different thing altogether, although I can't really see why you would want to migrate the runtime data from one DB to another.
what i get from ur description of Runtime data here, is about the data that represents different process states relavant data which is stored and maintained in different tables. Am I Right?
if the answer is yes then the answer to ur question (asked in the last line of ur statment) is that i dont want only runtime data to be exported rather i wanna export full user and its schema. and the reason from moving it from one server to another server is simply to have backup for the time of system crash or failiure
I am keenly anticipating ur reply

  • Problem of Data Import/Export after migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g

We have encountered the following problem after the migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g R1 and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3 to 9.1.
In our development server, a view was created by joining of one feature class (point feature), two attribute tables and one F table. We have to perform a process to export all the features in that particular view from the development server and then import them to the production server. In total, there should be about 60,000 points.
Form our past experience (using Oracle DB 9i and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3); we spent about 15-20 minutes to complete the import-export procedure. However, after the system migration, the speed of the import-export procedures is extremely slow, which is talking about 2 hours for ONLY EXPORTING 5MB data.
We would like to seek advice in solving the above problems. THANKS!

Try to delete old stats, then gather new stats on the schema and try the export again.

  • Migrating owb using import/export

    Hi All,
Please could anyone throw some light on how to Migrate owb using import/export.
we are presently having owb installed on 32 bit database with RHEL 4 os. we planning to migrate to 64 bit database with 0el5 os.
we have planned to do export/import. my question in this is could we use export/import for migrating owb schemas with owb installed in the new server.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regrads,
    Prajwal

    Hi Prajwal,
I do not recommend exporting and importing the owb repository schema, it will not work properly.
First, create a new repository on the new db. Then export your projects (make sure you select include all dependencies) using owb metadata export and evetnually import it into the new database.
Note that you wil loose all deployment status information.
If you also have target schemas in your db, then unregister them first before migrating the data to the new db. In the new db you have to register them at the new repository. Finally you have to redeploy all mappings (using replace) in order to make them work again.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • Import/export issue to migrate the project

    Hi,
I am trying to migrate a project from 1 server to another server.
I exported the project and model from my current server, and imported them to the new server. the thing is, the senario can be run successfully, but when I open the interface in designer, the source table cannot get any definition, all the columns in the source table won't show up. it looks like to me is that the interface lost the connection of the data store in the model.
Anybody has any idea how to fix it?
    Thx

    Hi
If its a fresh imploementation then its fine.
Say yu migrated the ODI objects to prod and you face an issue.
you have fixed it in development and want to move it to prod.
How do you handle this scenario.

  • How to find out import & export path for object migration between D Q & P?

    Hi guys!
Is there a way, how to find out export and import path for object transport on XI?
    Thanx!
    Olian

    Hi,
Have a look at these links.
When we do an export of the IR or the ID Oblects, a typical path at which it gets exported in the XI Server is as follow:
    For IR Objects:
    “C:\usr\sap\PI1\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\export “
    For ID Objects:
    "C:\usr\sap\PI1\SYS\global\xi\directory_server\export"
Now in case you need to import the ".tpz" that you have.... You need to place it in the path mentioned below and u will be able to do import it from IR or ID...
    For IR Objects:
    “C:\usr\sap\PI1\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import “
    For ID Objects:
    "C:\usr\sap\PI1\SYS\global\xi\directory_server\import"

  • Migration Best Practice When Using an Auth Source

    Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on migration best practices or more specifically, how to choose whether to import/export groups and users or to let the auth source do a sync to bring users and groups into each environment.
One of our customers is using an LDAP auth source to synchronize users and groups. I'm trying to help them do a migration from a development environment to a test environment. I'd like to export/import security on each object as I migrate it, but does this mean I have to export/import the groups on each object's ACLs before I export/import each object? What about users? I'd like to leave users and groups out of the PTE files and just export/import the auth source and let it run in each environment. But I'm afraid the UUIDs for the newly created groups will be different and they won't match up with object ACLs any more, causing all the objects to lose their security settings.
If anyone has done this before, any suggestions about best practices and gotchas when using the migration wizard in conjunction with an auth source would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

The best practice here would be to migrate only the auth source through the migration wizard, and then do an LDAP sync on the new system to pull in the users and groups. The migration wizard will then just "do the right thing" in matching up the users and groups on the ACLs of objects between the two systems.
Users and groups are actually a special case during migration -- they are resolved first by UUID, but if that is not found, then a user with the same auth source UUID and unique auth name is also treated as a match. Since you are importing from the same LDAP auth source, the unique auth name for the user/group should be the same on both systems. The auth source's UUID will also match on the two systems, since you just migrated that over using the migration wizard.

  • How to migrate 'responsibility' level personalizations?

    Hi all,
We have done a set of personalizations at responsibility level in our UAT instance.
We have no problem migrating the 'site' level personalization. We use the 'Functional Administrator' -> Import/Export utility.
But, We find that the responsibility level personalizations are stored under a folder hierarchy as below:
    Eg:
    Responsibility: XXRecruitment Manager
    Responsibilty Key: XXRECRUIT_MAN
    Responsibility ID: 50977
Personalization is exported in this folder:
    /oracle/apps/per/irc/vacancy/webui/customizations/responsibility/50977/RectrDetsRN
It is stored under a folder '50977' corresponding to the responsibility id of the responsibility that we personalized.
Our problem is, the responsibility id's and responsibility key's are different in UAT and production instances:
    Responsibility: XXRecruitment Manager 01
    Responsibilty Key: XXRECRUIT_MAN_01
    Responsibility ID: 50900
Now, how to migrate such personaliations? Our client have personalized atleast 25 pages at various responsibilty levels. Please suggest a suitable way to migrate these personalizations.
    thanks in advance,
    Hem

    Hem,
We had the similar discussion in past once, but I guess the user didn't update the final results. As far as I think, 'Functional Administrator' -> Import/Export utility should be handling this scenario.
Did you try it atleast on one such responsibility level personalization?

  • Migrating Non ASM, Non RMAN to New Server with ASM and RMAN - Possible?

We currently have a database ( Oracle 10g R1 ) on a Sun Solaris server that is NOT using ASM or RMAN. The database is about 300GB. We are getting a new server and we want to install Oracle 10g R2 with ASM and RMAN and migrate the database.
I have seen the documentation on migrating non ASM to an ASM server but the methods all use RMAN. Is it possible to migrate to an ASM database without using RMAN? Would datapump import/export work if I created a new database on the new server with all the same tablespaces? Or, do I have to bite the bullet, install RMAN on the old server and do the backup?
    Thanks.

If you're not using RMAN that doesn't mean you can't use it to perform a single backup, rman is contained in every oracle RDBMS installation version 10G or higher.
this is only a sample of how to do it
    RMAN> CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '<file_system_path>/%U.DBF';
--first we allocate the channel default channel.
    RMAN>RUN
    ALLOCATE CHANNEL DEFAULTCHANNEL TYPE DISK;
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    STARTUP MOUNT;
    BACKUP DATABASE;
    SHUTDOWN
}then once you have it, you can do what you want.
It should also be possible to manually restore the database from the original datafiles but it's better to follow the solution involving RMAN.
    Bye Alessandro

  • Some questions on versioning and synchronizing metadata

    Hy all!
I am quite new to warehousing and Oracle Warehouse Builder, and so i would have some questions regarding on some common issues. I would appriciate if you guys would who have experience in this domain to share some good practice knowledge :)
    I am using OWB 10.2
So first of all i would like to know if you have some proposal of the way of versioning control and synchronizing projects between team memebers when working on a bigger project, team memebers that don't work on the same repository (cause i saw that OWB has an integrated multiuser support for handeling object locks and user sessions).
I saw that a way of migrating data from one place to a nother is using the import/export options integrated in OWB. This creates mdl files wich are some kind of "dumps" of the metadata informations, but the thing with these mdl files wich i don't think is a good way to synchronize is that first of all the .mdx and .xml files contained in the .mdl (wich is kind of a zip) contains many informations in it (like creation date, some timestamps, etc) wich are always updated when exporting, and if synchronizing these files maybee using CVS, we always will get differences between the files alltough they would contain the same thing, only timestamps changed.
Then a nother issue with this, is that we could have 2 alternatives: dump the whole project, wich is odd to have to synchronize a single file between users, especialy on a big project, then the orher way would be doing for each object from the project (each mapping, each table, etc) an separate .mdl filem then to synchronize each file of each object, wich will be unefficient on reimporting each file in part.
So please if you can share the way you work on a big project with many implementers with OWB, i would really appriciate.
A nother thing i would like to know is: is there a way to generate from an existing project (like one created with OWB) the OMB commands dump (maybee in a tcl script)? Cause i saw that the way the exeprienced users implement warehousing is using TCL with OMB language. I downloaded the example from oracle for warehouse project, and i saw that is entirely made from tcl scripts (so no mdl file involved). And this i think would be nice, to have the OMB commands generated from an existing projects.
I see this OWB projects like a database wich can be built up from only OMB commands and OWB a graphical tool to do this (same as constructing a database only from DDL commands or using SQL developer to do this), this is why i am asking about a way of dumping the OMB commands for creating an OWB project.
Please give me some advices, and correct me if i sad some dumb things :D but i really am new to warehousing and i would really appriciate if you guys with experience could share some informations.
    Thank you verry much!
    Alex21

Depends. Having everyone working on the same project certainly simplifies things a lot regarding merging and is generally my preference. But I also recognize that some projects are complex enough that people wind up stepping on each other's toes if this is the case. In those cases, though, I try to minimize the issue of merging changes by having common structural objects (code libraries, tables, views, etc) retained in a single, strictly controlled, central project schema and having the developer's personal work areas reference them by synonym, thus being unable to alter them to the detriment of others.
If they want to change a common object then need to drop their synonym and make a local copy which they can alter, and then there is a managed process by which these get merged back into the main project schema.
This way any changes MUST go through a central schema, we can put processes in place to notify all of the team of any impending changes, and can also script updates across the team.
Every hour a script runs automatically that checks for dropped synonyms and notifies the project leader. It especially checks for two developers who have built local copies of the same object and notifies each that they need to coordinate with each other as they are risking a conflict. When a structural change is submitted back to the central shared schema, it is added to a batch that is installed at end of business and a list of those impending changes is circulated to the team along with impact analysis for dependencies. The install script updates the main schema, then also drops the local copy of the object in the developer's schema who made the change and re-establishes the synonym there to get back to status quo for the change monitoring. Finally, it then updates itself in all of the developer areas via OMBPlus. So, each morning the developers return to an updated and synched environment as far as the underlying structure.
This takes care of merging structural issues, and the management of the team should minimize other metadata merging by managing the worklist of who is to be working on a given mapping or process flow at a given time. Anyone found to be doing extraneous changes to a mapping or process flow when it is not in their job queue without getting pre-approval will be spoken to VERY firmly as this is counter to policy. And yes, OWB objects such as mappings are then also coordinated to the central project via import/export. OMBplus scripts also propogate these changes daily across the team as well.
Yep, there is a whole lot of scripting involved to get set up.... but it saves a ton of time merging things and solvinv conflicts down the road.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • New PC - I need to move all settings and set up

I have a new PC and I want to move CS6 onto it.
I know how to deactivate and install CS6 but I want to move my personal settings over as well is there any way I can do this or do I have to set each product up as I have done in the past?
    Thanks,

you'll need to go through each program one-by-one.
eg, here's ps, FAQ: How do I migrate my saved presets from an earlier version of Photoshop or import/export them?
for other programs, google:  'site:adobe.com migrate <program name>'
cc started a sync option that was supposed to make that process much easier, but it's never worked for me and you have cs6 so it's not even something you can try.

    hello siddu_123,
per your description, it does not look like you need  either a trigger or another column to store acroymn_ID. since acroymn_id is an identity column, it cannot be updated.
if the database was migrated to different server either by backup restore method and data import\export method, you can still preserve the identity property on the column and hence you will have the same values.
    Hope it Helps!!

  • Importing from Windows - Exporting to Unix

    Hello Guys,
I have this situation where the initial developement was done on a Windows box, but then the staging and production environments have been set up on unix servers.
Q1: Is it possible to migrate the mappings created on Dev (windows) effectively to unix without needing re-work?
Q2: What is the approach to go about this migration, if any?
Q3: Do the OWB versions matter while import/export?
Has anyone been through this problem before?
Any help will be appreciated... Just give me your piece of mind on this...!!

    Hi ,
You can do the following to export OWB metadata into mdl file .
    1. Login to OWB Client
    2. Goto Design
    3. Export
    4. Warehouse Builder Metadata
You can specify the file location details .
In order to Import OWB metadata from mdl file
    1. Login to OWB Client
    2. Goto Design
    3. Import
    4. Warehouse Builder Metadata
It will ask for the mdl file location details
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha
