Migrating a user to another tablespace!

Dear All
I need to migrate a user and all the tables associated with the user to a new tablespace and schema in other database.
This is from Development to Production server.
In Production Server i created a new schema and a tablespace associated with that say SCOTT.
Now from Development server i want to export a user (PRO) and import this to the new schema SCOTT to the production server.
Is it possible - if so would you please help me to follow up!
Thanks in advance
Ravi Prakash

Hi ravi,
if i understand correctly you want to move to new instance,
if so you can not use the move tablespace and rebuild.
you can use the exp/imp in case you are using oracle version less than 10g
in case you are using 10g - you can use the data pump for the export/ import.
in case you do not Have any long/ lob in tables import should recreate the tables in production server.
how ever dew things should be think about, what about tables physical attributes?

Shouldn't be having a problem, then. That's the version for ML. Try taking your question to the Safari forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/safari - that's where all the Safari experts hang out.

  • I migrated a user from another mac and cant get any updates to install!

    Hi
I migrated a user from another mac and cant get any updates to install, for example it says iPhoto is intalled but its not, i never copied it from the older imac, and i cant download it to this one now
    any help appreciated

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Is there a way to migrate AD users to different domain?

    Hello SharePoint Fam,
I have a 10,000 user environment and these users are spread across 15 different domains.  Our data/network team are beginning to migrate and consolidate our environment down to one domain.  We did a test and had them migrate a couple of accounts
to different domain and confirmed that this breaks the user access.  Is there a script or recommendation that I could use to migrate specific users to this domain?  This new domain is still under the same forest
    Thanks n advance,

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to migrate AD users to another domain.
The tool you need to migrate users between domains is ADMT (Active Directory Migration Tool) which will migrate users, groups, and computers.
After that, we need to use Move-SPUser to migrate the users to new accounts:
    $user = Get-SPUser -web http://my.website.url -Identity DomainA\UserA
    Move-SPUser -IgnoreSID -Identity $user -NewAlias 'DomainB\UserA'

  • How can I migrate from one user to another within the same computer?

My main user account in my desktop is becoming buggy after to many migrations from different computers and long time usage. I would like to migrate from one user to another user within the same computer to see if this improves my current problems.
How can I do it in a reasonably safe and quick way?
Thank you very much, cheers, Rui
iMAC, OS 10.6.8... and yes, I love Snow Leopard light and handy... and all my programs work on it...

Move small groups of files to the /Users/Shared/ folder or another location and see if the problems disappear. Moving everything to a new user account will in all probability transfer the problems.

  • How to use time machine to migrate a user from one mac to another

I have a brand new iMac that was set up about a week ago which contains information from my old PC. I did a time machine back up and now I am trying to import that user to my new macbook air.
Using Migration Assistant, I imported from the user from the Time Machine backup (iMac) to the Macbook Air using my external hard drive.
When I restarted the computer, all that came up on the Macbook Air was the test account I created, not the user from the other Mac. The data is on the computer because the space on the hard drive was taken up. I just don't know why the user isn't showing up.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

    stevem902 wrote:
I imported the user from another iMac. The user accounts had the same name. What I should have done at that point is DELETE the old user on the computer I was importing to.
What I did to resolve the issue was create an admin account on the new computer.
Delete the old account that I was replacing on the new computer
Run import from time machine backup again.
Make sure. You have an extra account, and the one you migrated may not be recognized as the same one as on the old Mac. If you need access to that user's files on the old Mac; the backups; or any other drives, be sure you do. That's the possible downside to +Migration Assistant+ vs. +Setup Assistant.+

  • How can I migrate my data from one user to another (to eliminate a previous owner's shortname?)

I purchased a Macbook Pro second hand a couple of years ago and whilst I immediately changed my user name, didn't realise that the previous owner's short name still exists (I was a bit of a Mac virgin at the time!). I now have tonnes of documents, applications, settings, bookmarks, etc. which are assigned against the previous owner.
I've now bought myself an iMac and before I migrate from the older machine to the new iMac, I wish to remove all trace of the previous macbook pro owner.
In researching how to change the shortname user, I've tried virtually everything and everytime have to resort to time machine to restore my settings, desktop, etc. I simply cannot get this to work. Even what seems quite a comprehensive article and procedure didn't work i.e. "full monty" section of the following: http://www.macworld.com/article/1132693/changeshortusername.html
Having failed miserably using different techniques and subsequently having to restore three times from time machine which is costing me hours upon hours, I'm absolutely frustrated at how to do this ... all I want to do is migrate everything to a new user account and delete the old user and previous owner.
Surely someone out there can provide a fool proof, simple and effective method to migrate the user data and keep intact?
    Please help if you can!

    Pondini wrote:
The only possible downside to this is, the transferred account may lose permission to the files on previous backups.
Actually, there is a way to prevent that, also a bit odd.  On the old Mac, go to System Preferences > Accounts and unlock the padlock.  Control-click (right-click) the account you want to delete in the sidebar and select Advanced Options.  That will bring up a window like this:
DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ON THAT WINDOW.  Just note the UID number.
When you start up the new Mac, the first account created (during initial setup) is automatically assigned #501.  The next is 502, etc. What you want to do is, after creating the first account, Restart and set up one or more temporary accounts in a way that will include that number;  then set up an additional one (an Admin account with the identical names as the one you want to trash).  Then log on to the additional one, delete the temporary ones and Restart your Mac (to finish clearing the numbers).
Log on and run Migration Assistant as above.  That way, you'll get the prompt to rename it as above, but the UID it has will not be a duplicate, so Migration Assistant can transfer it "as is."

  • One db and user for multiple tablespaces or schemas per server?

    Hello again.
I installed Oracle 11g on server_1 and created one database db_1.
Using Enterprise Manager, I did the following:
    Created a tablespace myname_1.
    Created a user myname_1.
Logged in as myname_1 and created a table into the default tablespace myname_1.
When creating this table, the schema field defaulted to myname_1.
    Created another tablespace myname_2.
My confusion about the relationship between tablespaces, users, and schemas starts here:
When I try to create a new table for tablespace myname_2, I get an error:
    "user myname_2 does not exist"
I am seeking some clarification on these levels of organization in Oracle.
My goal is to setup my server with one database each and one user each per database.
Then, I think I want to create multiple tablespaces and organize objects per tablespace.
Or should it be per schema?
Eventually each tablespace will be moved to a separate server.
Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for helping.

    Hello,
This error means user MYNAME_2 doesn't exists and you have to create one.
    Example 1:
    CREATE USER MYNAME_2
      IDENTIFIED BY "my_password"
      DEFAULT TABLESPACE MYNAME_1
      TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP
      PROFILE DEFAULT
      ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
      -- 4 Roles for KLONDIKE
GRANT RESOURCE TO MYNAME_2; ---> This privs give unlimited quota on all the tablespaces
      GRANT CONNECT TO MYNAME_2;
      ALTER USER MYNAME_2 DEFAULT ROLE NONE;
Then create your table (you were missing "AS" )
    create table myname_2.mytable_1 as
select * from source_table@dblink_2;Example 2: If you want to create table mytable_1 in tablespace myname_2 then you have to create tablespace myname_2 first. To create table in different tablespace than user default tablespace
create table mytable_1 tablespace myname_2 as select * from source_table@dblink;Regards

  • Multiple user creation in R12 and migration of users

I would like to know how we can automate a process of user creation in R12, or is there a way to create multiple users in Ebiz with respective responsibilities.
Second case is, migration of users from one instance to another. The problem out here is selective users not all?
    Regards

Pl search the forums for FND_USER package - you will find several hits that show how this package can be used in a programmatic fashion to bulk create new users and assign responsibilities. Examples are also available on My Oracle Support.
To migrate user, use FNDLOAD. See this doc - you will also find hits in these forums if you search.

  • I can't import a table contains BLOB column  from one user to another user.

    1) I create two user both have connect role, and each has its own tablespace, DDL:
    create user d2zd identified by d2zd default tablespace d2zd quota unlimited on d2zd account unlock;
    grant connect to d2zd;
    create user d3zd identified by d3zd default tablespace d3zd quota unlimited on d3zd account unlock;
    grant connect to d3zd;
2)Then enter oracle as d2zd and create a table contains BLOB column and insert data to the table.
    3) export d2zd as follow:
    exp d2zd/d2zd file=d2zd.dmp
    4) import to d3zd as follow:
    imp d3zd/d3zd fromuser=d2zd touser=d3zd file=d2zd.dmp
the question is the table with BOLB colum can't be import,
it says:have no privilege on tablespace d2zd.
How can I import a table contains BLOB column from one user to another user?

Hi - the reason for as our friend already told ist that a blob can be stored outside of the table segment, in another Tablespace, This is for performance reason.
Sou you would need to have Quota on two tablespaces.
the one which holds the table segment the other which holds the blob(segment).

  • Migrating Tiger User Account

I am migrating a user account from an old Intel iMac to a fairly recent MacBook Pro. The iMac is running 10.4.11 and the MBP is running 10.5.2.
When I try to T-Boot the iMac onto the MBP the Firewire logo appears on the iMac screen but is very jerky and staggered. The disk never mounts on the MBP's desktop and Migration Assistant cannot see it.
When I T-Boot the old iMac to another machine running Tiger, it pops right up.
Is this some way of telling me that I cannot migrate Tiger User Accounts to Leopard?
    Thanks
    Sean

You're making things much more difficult than they have to be. Don't bother trying to use your iPhone to migrate your data. Just backup address book and ical, then import those into the new ones. Copy the iTunes library and have done with it.
Sync to iPhone was never intended to be a 2 way street.
I can understand not wanting to bring old junk with you when it comes to migrating your old user account and all the preference files and the like, but in the time it took you to try to find a way to get things moved via your phone, you could have done it manually.

  • Migrating a User Report Layout

    Hello
I have a question. I need to migrate a user report layout from one DB to another, and i'm not sure how to do it.
I have read other threads about this particular subject and one of the solutions is to run an insert query into the RDOC table of the other DB; this is mentioned to be written in the SAP Note number 600813
I am concerned that by doing this I could be compromising the integrity of the DB, since one of the rules of SAP is to not run direct inserts into any DB.
Am I authorized to do this as a developer? or is there another solution, that doesn't compromise the integrity of the DB?

    Hi Jessica,
I think you can use the copy express addon to export layouts but I use sql.
Here is the query i use to do it, you can export several layouts by modifying the conditions.
It's better to test it on test database...
    DELETE [TARGETDB].[dbo].[RDOC]
    where[TARGETDB].[dbo].[RDOC].DocCode
IN (SELECT DocCode FROM [SOURCEDB].dbo.RDOC WHERE DocCode = YourDocCode)
    insert into [TARGETDB].[dbo].[RDOC]
    select *
    from [SOURCEDB].[dbo].[RDOC]
    where[SOURCEDB].[dbo].[RDOC].DocCode

    DELETE [TARGETDB].[dbo].[RITM]

    [SOURCEDB].[dbo].[RDOC].DocCode

    Hope it helps.

  • Transport table from system tablespace to another tablespace

    hi there,
how can we transport a table from system tablespace to another tablespace(example users tablespace)?

Assuming you are not trying to move any data dictionary tables.
Use alter table to move it,
    ALTER TABLE my_table MOVE TABLESPACE USERS;
    Rebuild index after move.
This will work on Oracle 9i and above.

  • Move Constraints on another tablespace

    hi all!
I have to move my constraints (PK) on another tablespace (now they are on SYSTEM tablespace)...is there a statement? ALTER ..MODIFY.....ecc.ecc
    THANKS!
    milena

I think this question follows on from a User, Constraints and tablespaces. Basically the users had been created without a default tablespace. The constraints were then created without specifying a tablespace for the index. Result: a SYSTEM tablespace full of primary key indexes.
I think in these days of RAID a-plenty the argument for having separate tablespaces for indexes no longer applies. So there is frequently no need to specify a tablespace when creating indexes (providing the user has a proper value for default tablespace). Of course, YMMV.
