Migrating to 10g ( Using webutil )

I'm migrating a app from 4.5 to 10gr2, rigth now i'm replacing the source code from my pll, and deployng the webutil.pll, i replaced the several calls to text_io and host, with client_tex_io and client_host, should i do the same to win_api?

Migration to 10g using migration assistant (search_replace.properties)

hi,
I know that it is possible to modify the search_replace.properties so I can add my own replace strings.
What I want to do is to search all the call to relatives path that exists in programm units and replace them with nothing.
This is for all the call to forms that where coded in 6i with relative path and we want to change for 10g using the forms_path.
eg : call_form('..\dir1\form1') changed to call_form('form1');
I add at the end of the search_replace.properties file

# Each of these are in the form SearchString|ReplaceString
# Users can add their own set of search and replace strings at
# the end of this block
Replace24=..\dir1\|
so that the relative path will change to nothing but it seems there is no effect
any idea ?
can the migration assistant replace any string found or just call to programm units (eg: RUN_PRODUCT to RP2RRO.RP2RRO_RUN_PRODUCT)

Unable to download image from DB in forms 10g using webutility

I compiled the webutil_db package in database and it is in the forms user schema, i got the same error message as i get in the forms
actual error message is both in db compilation and in the forms execution
ora-04067 not executed, package body "<user>.webutil_db" does not exist.

Problem running reports using webutil in Forms 10g

This is about 3 dll files related to webutil functionality in forms 10g

I am running report which is using webutil functionality. So when I try to run report, our application server try to download above dlls to my local machine on path C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin
Due to security policy, our company doesn't allow write access to folder C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin and hence report is failing to run.
We need solution for this issue so that we should be able to run report successfully?
Details as below:
Application server : Forms 10g - 10.1.2.3 ( Using Sun jre and not jinitiator). We do not want to use jinitiator

Curious, typically Java will store these "temporary" files in the cache not in the BIN directory. Unfortunately, the only way I know to change the location of the CACHE (temporary files) directory is through the Java Control Panel applet. Open the Control Panel and start the Java Control Panel. On the General tab click the Settings... button in the Temporary Internet Files section. In the Location section - click the Change button which will bring up a "Temporary Files Location" dialog box. Simply navigate to a directory that your security policy will allow files to be written too.
The ideal solution would be to push this type of change out to all of your users rather than have to manually change each workstation. I don't know if there is a way to push this change out, but you can check the Java website for more information.

You can use the JFIF image format for jpg files.

Error while using webutil in 10g forms

Hi All,
I followed all the steps as given in the webutil user guide, in order to use webutil functionality in my forms 10g. Even then, I am getting an error message while trying to open a file from the client machine.
oracle.forms.webutil.file.FileFunctions bean not found WEBUTIL_FILE.FILE_SELECTION_DIALOG_INT will not work.
I need a solution to this problem urgently.

Hi,
look at the Jinitiator console if the webutil jar file gets downloaded. If this is downloaded, which indicates that it can be found on the server, check the implementation in Forms. What this says is that the bean cannot be found, which however should be the case if webutil is configured correctly.

Using Webutil in oracle 10g forms

I have a form that has a button for showing calendar which is configured using webutil. This form is not created by me. Now the problem is when the form is ran on web it does not show the calendar.

What is command in Oracle form 10g to check network which using webutil?

All friend have know command to check network which using webutil then let's tell for me know, example as using client_host('cmd /c ping dantri.com').

I want to check network of this server to if ping local server is reply then will do upload data to folder on server file, if ping server is not connect then keep in C driver local. Application has problems when migrated from 10g to 11g

Hi there,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I have in moving an application from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g. The app works fine on 10g (uses Apache webserver with PL/SQL module, and APEX 3.1.2.00.2), but on 11g using the embedded web server and APEX 3.2.0.00.27, it doesnt. Most of the app works fine, but there are a couple of pages that provide the ability to add child rows to a parent/child relationship, where the parameter passing mechanism from one page to the next appears to suffer from some sort of corruption. I have traced this using the "session" and "debug" buttons on the developer interface, which show that the values of the parameters get changed inexplicably, when branching from one page to the next - even when the page is actually branching to itself.
I am using the "Set these items, "With these values" fields in the branch, and have verified that the correct values are being associated with the correct items in the application builder. But while this does work correctly under 10g, with 11g, the wrong values end up being passed. Just prior to the branch the set of parameters have the correct values, but immediately after the branch, one of the values is NULL, another has the value of a different item, and a third has a totally random value - I have no idea were it comes from!
I migrated the application from 10g to 11g using the APEX application developer's Export/Import options. There have been no other changes. Should this have worked? If so, any ideas what might have gone wrong?

Well, I managed to solve this, but not in a way that makes much sense.
In desperation (I had tried almost everything else!) I changed the value of "Cached" in the page settings from "No" to "Yes", and ran the app, but the page didnt render correctly (in either Firefox or IE7) - in fact all that displayed was the developers toolbar at the bottom of the page. I changed the value of "Cached" back to "Y", ran the app again, and hey presto - everything worked fine! I actually did this a second time with a fresh import of the app from 10g, just to be sure I wasnt seeing things. I wasnt!
There was just one further issue - everything worked fine apart from this section of code in a page process:-

In 11g the value of :p9_entity_types was not being set to 'GENE' when :p9_filter_type was 5. This was (and still is) working in 10g. I changed the code as follows:-

... and now it works fine in 11g as well.

After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations.

After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations and section navigations not working.
And we are getting the following error <<odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW)>> where we have used navigations.
In 10G we have Guided navigation Reports to display the Reports links and intermediate reports for conditionally displaying the Dashboard section(Reports) but after migrating to 11g Guided navigation reports and conditional reports are not working..
We know that in 11g section navigation replaced with conditions and Guided navigation replaced with action link.. but
do we need to recreate those reports in actions and condition or is there any work around avoid reworking.

Open bat file on client machine using webutil

Hi all.
I'm on devsuite 10g.
I want to run a bat file on client machine using client_host function of webutil.
I have tried first to execute the bat file with mouse double-click in order to check if it is ok, and it works.
Now I want to execute this file from my form using webutil.
Here is my code:

FabrizioThis seems like a directory or OS level permission issue on the batch file, What is the error you got when you tried drag and drop the batch file in an DOS window???
I think you need to upload the image to a site and use the markup for the image, include the full URL of the uploaded file between ! (exclamation marks) something like ! http://../post.gif ! without the spaces.

How to Use Webutil in Reports (in After Report Trigger)

Hi,
I am downloading from FORMS using Webutil is working fine and exporting data into excel.
I have placed the same RPT2XLS package into the reports which i have used in FORMS but it is not working and "ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called" error is coming.
The reason using RPT2XLS in reports to convert complex Matrix reports into Ms. Excel.
Oracle Application Server, Reports & Forms Version is 10g.
I guess, the reason is webutil configuration in reports (as its working for forms) but i don't know exactly where to configure for reports.
Any idea?

You use webutil in Forms, not in Reports:
"WebUtil is a pre-packaged set of components which provide client-server type functionality in Web-deployed Oracle Forms applications." There is no client-server type functionality in Reports.

Complexities of Migrating Oracle 10g from Solaris to HP-UX Itanium

Can anyone share their experiences with regards to migrating Oracle 10g from Solaris on a Sun platform to HP-UX 11i v3 (Itanium) on HP Integrity servers. We are trying to consider all the risks associated with such a move. How much time delay did you experience in resolving unexpected issues along the way? How complex is the process? If you had to do it all over again, would you?
In addtion, we will also be migrating Oracle eBusiness Suite 11i (11.5.10.2).

Here is more information:
- the database size is currently about 500GB
- our ASP allows us to be down as much as we want however the company's own needs can only allow a downtime window of two days (over the weekend)
- i presume further that RMAN might be an option to use to backup the database and instance to some transportable media
- it would take about four days to get that media from the ASP to our facility so durign that time the instance at the ASP would have to be used
- after we get the backup media and load everything into our in-house site, our last step would be to find a way to migrate all changes over the WAN. I am told that unless the platforms are the same on both ends, mirroring will be extremely difficult or impossible. If we have a platform that is different from the ASP platform, then the migration of all changes will require conversion and other mechanisms. I am told that HP-UX has so much complexities that this will be a daunting task to accomplish.
Do you have any opinions and recommnedations?
