Migration DB2/MVS to Oracle on NT
Does anyone know if there are any tools to help with the migration of a DB2/MVS database to Oracle on NT? The toolkit on this site is (a) now rather old (1996) and b) seems to handle only migration to Oracle on MVS or RS/6000.
Thanks [email protected] (correct address !)
Hi there,
Thank you very much for your reply,
also,
can the OMWB for DB2/400 also works for DB2/MVS?
is there utility in OMWB exists for the mapping procedure?
thanks a lot.

DB2/MVS to Oracle conversion
Are there any automated tools and/or guides/documentation to assist in a conversion from DB2/MVS to Oracle?
Thanks.Hi,
Try a migration tool at www.ispirer.com/chyfo.html
It provides you the fastest, the easiest and the most powerful way to migrate
DB2 database into Oracle.
It works in conjunction with Oracle SQL Loader. The tool creates text files (moving of LOBs are fully supported), generates
CREATE TABLE scripts for Oracle and control files for SQL Loader.
The tool has a lot of other features.
Best regards, Dmitry.

I want migrate the db2 of Content Manager 8.3 to Oracle, the version exactly of db2 is:
uxe25104:/herramientas/servers/iplanet/ws61/https-appsintranet/config # db2level
DB21085I Instance "dbinst" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08027" with
level identifier "03080106".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.0.128", "s061108", "U810099", and FixPak
"14".
Product is installed at "/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1".
Oracle tell us, "we currently do not have a tool to migrate DB2 V8 to Oracle; our tool we have Oracle Migration Workbench supported only up to version 7 and the new tool SQL* Developer misses the Db2 plugin so far. It is currently under construction."
Any have another option ?
Thank's a lot.
CarlosNot as far as I know. Can you use the tool for V7 to migrate some of the functionality to ease the pain?

The link for plugins is: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/migration/workbench/index.html. You can find DB2 plugins at the bottom of the page.
Regarding the migration procedure, you can start by reading this document:

Help for migrating DB2 to Oracle11 g, with Sql Developer
Hello, Good Afternoon,
Today I started a series of exercises to migrate DB2 9 to Oracle 11 g, with SQL Developer in order to evaluate this tool for a project we have in door.
But it is setting a number of issues, because the DB2 tables that we are trying to migrate do not have primary key and load the data sets the error ORA-02270.
It is generating an error when trying to convert the following triggers.
CREATE TRIGGER min_salary NO CASCADE
BEFORE INSERT ON staff REFERENCING NEW AS newstaff
FOR EACH ROW MODE DB2SQL BEGIN ATOMIC
SET newstaff.salary =
CASE
WHEN newstaff.job = 'Mgr' AND newstaff.salary < 17000.00 THEN 17000.00
WHEN newstaff.job = 'Sales' AND newstaff.salary < 14000.00 THEN 14000.00
WHEN newstaff.job = 'Clerk' AND newstaff.salary < 10000.00 THEN 10000.00
ELSE newstaff.salary END;
END
CREATE TRIGGER do_not_del_sales NO CASCADE
BEFORE DELETE ON staff REFERENCING OLD AS oldstaff
FOR EACH ROW MODE DB2SQL
WHEN(oldstaff.job = 'Sales') BEGIN ATOMIC SIGNAL SQLSTATE '75000'
('Sales staff cannot be deleted... see the DO_NOT_DEL_SALES trigger.'); END
SEVERE 197 625 oracle.dbtools.migration.workbench.core.MigrationLogResourceBundle Failed to Convert Trigger MIN_SALARY>: class org.antlr.runtime.NoViableAltException -> null: Line 1 Column 0
SEVERE 196 1328 oracle.dbtools.migration.workbench.core.MigrationLogResourceBundle Failed to Convert Trigger DO_NOT_DEL_SALES>: class org.antlr.runtime.NoViableAltException -> null: Line 1 Column 0
I can do for Work Bench (SQL Developer) not validate that DB2 must carry primary keys?
I can do for Work Bench (SQL Developer), I can turn triggers the 2 above?
Greetingsto follow up the root cause of ORA-02270 it would be good to get the DB2 table definition as the table is defined in the Oracle database.
For the other issue with the trigger, please have a look at:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/db2-084087.html
=> it lists which objects the migration supports as:
Supported Migration Objects
Tables
Views
Indexes
Users
Constraints
=> so no triggers. -
DB2 timestamp to oracle timestamp conversion
Does any one know how to convert Db2 timestamp into oracle timestamp.
From DB2 we are getting timestamp in this format (2000-03-06-16.02.19.074474) (26 bytes).
I want to insert this into oracle thru owb into oracle table with column type timestamp.
Does anyone know the procedure for this type of conversion

COVERT DB2 DATE TO ORACLE DATE
I AM MIGRATING DB2/AS400 DATA TO ORACLE.
IN THIS I HAVE DB2 DATE WHICH IS IN CYYMMDD FORMAT AND I HAVE TO CONVERT DD/MM/YYYY FROM TO ORACLE.
WHICH IS THE BETTER WAY TO PROCESS THIS TYPE OF DATA.
COULD YOU PLEASE HELP MEHI,
The simplest way is:
Take a look at the default date format at your Oracle (you can change it if necessary) and then use some DB2 Data do Character function to format it like Oracle default format.
Oracle will do an implicit conversion.
Does it help you? -
Best approach to migrate DB2 UDB V7 for z/OS
It seems that the latest migration workbench still doesn't work for DB2 UDB V7 on z/OS. What is the best approach to migrate DB2 UDB V7 for z/OS (about 10 GB) to Oracle 10g? Any suggestions/advices are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
GeorgeSQL Loader/External tables always works assuming you can get text files out of your old DB.

Migration of older version Oracle forms to Oracle 6i/9i
Can someone tell me whether I can use Oracle JDeveloper Application Migration Assistant to migrate older version of Oracle forms to Oracle 6i/9i?
Thanks a lot,
Anupama Ashokthanks,
if so,
i have an humantask activity in the process. in revision 1.0 , i have some instances which are running. it is exposed as a service which other services consume.
now, if i redploy to the same revision, the state goes stale, so that we could not act on stale human tasks which should not happen
what should i do in this case if i am unable to migrate to the revision?

Migration from Progress to Oracle

Migration from Sybase to Oracle
Hello every one,
First of all I want to say thank you for your time,
I would like that you certify my process, and, if not good, that you give me a better choice,
I want to migrate one database from Sybase 12.5 in a Solaris 8 platform to Oracle 10g in a HP platform.
I was thinking to migrate this Database using Oracle Database Migration Verifier, and I have this software in Windows platform.
My questions is: if is possible than I use a Migration Verifier since my windows to migrate a database from Sybase in Solaris 8 to Oracle 10g in HP?
I will appreciate your help.
Regards.Hi,
I am working on the migration of existing system in Sybase 12.5 to Oracle 10g. Sybase 12.5 and Oracle 10g both are in solaris environment.
I am currently working on Oracle Migration Work Bench. I am facing issues with this tool. Its showing frequent errors and going into infinite loops.
Is there any other version of this tool which i can use ?
Is there any other such efficient tool which i can use for the same ?
Please let me know asap as its very urgent.

Migrating Sybase code to Oracle 11g
Hi All,
We have to migrate Sybase code to Oracle 11g.
When we are doing a SELECT .. INTO in Sybase , even if the query is returning more than 1 row , sybase selects 1 of the rows and populates the variables.
But while migrating this code to oracle, we are getting TOO_MANY_ROWS Exception.
We need to migrate the code from SYBASE to ORACLE without disturbing the logic.
Can someone please tell me the logic applied by SYBASE to pick up the record?
And if someone has faced this issue, then what can be done to resolve this.
Regards,
Riddhisha KhamesraThe result 3 is the last entered record (not the amount of records..).
So the first approach to write a dummy procedure that will select all records in Oracle like:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE last_record
v_arg1 OUT NUMBER
AS
BEGIN
SELECT col1
INTO v_arg1
FROM tt_tmp ;
END;
and hopefully returns only the last record will fail with:
SQL> variable outvar number
SQL> exec last_record (:outvar)
BEGIN last_record (:outvar); END;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows
ORA-06512: at "SYSTEM.LAST_RECORD", line 9
ORA-06512: at line 1
One possible approach to get the last (and only the last) record that was entered into the table is to use rownum:
The select might look like "select col1 from (select col1, rownum from tt_tmp order by rownum desc) where rownum=1;"
So the procedure can be coded as:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE last_record
v_arg1 OUT NUMBER
AS
BEGIN
SELECT col1
INTO v_arg1
from (select col1, rownum from tt_tmp order by rownum desc) where rownum=1;
END;
Now calling it in SQL*Plus:
SQL> variable outvar number
SQL> exec last_record (:outvar)
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> print :outvar
OUTVAR
7
The value 7 is the last record I've inserted into my tt_tmp table:
SQL> select * from tt_tmp;
COL1 COL2
1 1
2 2
8 8
7 7
