Migration doesn't complete

I have tried several times to use Migration Assistant to use a Time Machine back up of my old Mac Mini running 10.6.8 to move all my files to my brand new Mac Mini running the latest version of Lion (ran Software Update). It gets to about 1-3 minutes of finishing and just sits there. I have left it three times at the 3 minute mark for at least 12 hours and even overnight. It can't be this difficult. Last month I performed the same operation from an old iMac to another Mac Mini with NO problem.
Any ideas?
Pat

The backups may be damaged.  Try to repair them, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.  While you're at it, verify your internal HD, too.

  • Mobile account doesn't complete initial creation and sync process

I'm trying to setup a mobile account for a network account but it won't complete the sync process on the client MacBook Pro. Both the server and the MacBook Pro are running 10.5.5.
When I login to client it prompts me to create a Mobile account and proceeds with the sync to create the account, but when the sync is complete it just logs in with the default account setup. None of the user files or settings (desktop image, preferences, etc) appear. The sync process says "Checking..." for all the files that supposedly get copied to the client, but it looks like it doesn't complete.
Is there a way of knowing what the problem is? Is there an issue with the user's home directory, some file that prevents the sync and mobile home creation from completing?
    Thanks.

I solved this myself. The user ended up have a folder on his desktop that contained a backup home folder from an old powerbook that he was trying to save. It was a complete home folder, Documents, Library, etc and I thought it might be interfering with the sync of the normal home folder. So I created a folder called Bad Stuff in the home folder and copied the old powerbook home folder into it. Then opened up the Sync Settings and excluded the Bad Stuff folder from the sync. And it worked, the sync when fine and is resyncing fine.
Hope that helps with other people with a similar problem.

That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

    Hi Mandi
Two thoughts. Your Mac is struggeling about how to get organized.
    - free space on internal hard disk should read more than 10Gb and even
    rather like 25GB
    - The hard disk that You store Your movie on can be in wrong format
∆ is it formatted OK (if only one = internal it's most probably OK)
∆ external hard disks MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted to work
    • DOS/UNIX/Mac Exchange - won't do !
    - The hard disk can be untidy:
∆ Run: Repair Permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
∆ Run: Repair Hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool) (You need to start from CD/DVD
    or externa hard disk)
∆ AND - delete iMovie pref file (or start a new account / log into this and re-try.
(will do the same but it discards even more eventually faulty files)

  • Migration is in progress and thus upgrade can be done as soon as migration is 100% complete.

When I click on the "Upgrade Options" button on one of my C670s I get this message:
Migration is in progress and thus upgrade can be done as soon as migration is 100% complete.
    Any thoughts?

Usually the only thing we see w/ migration message and % is during PVO setup and migration to SMA.  If that is the case... there could be stale or incomplete messages that did not migration or get accounted for.  Suggestion would be to disable CPQ from the ESA side, commit changes, and then re-review and enable the CPQ/PVO to see what occurs.  This should clear out after that has checked itself.

  • TS1424 ITune download continues to process but doesn't complete. What could be the issue

ITune download continues to process but doesn't complete. What could be the issue

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • [Solved] ehci_hcd unbind doesn't complete

Hi and thanks in advance for your help.
I'm most of the way through converting my htpc from ubuntu 10.10 to Arch but cannot get suspend/resume working with my DTV2000ds tuner. The tuner is otherwise working fine and when I remove it from my box suspend and resume works as expected.
In ubuntu all I had to do was add
    SUSPEND_MODULES="xhci-hcd" to a file in /etc/pm/config.d
In Arch this by itself isn't working. pm-suspend.log thinks it has entered suspend mode but all I get is a blank screen with a blinking cursor. This is similar behaviour to ubuntu before I added the SUSPEND_MODULES line above.
I followed a script from these forums that unloads all the ehci_hcd devices one at a time. This unloads my mouse and usb IR-receiver but pm-suspend.log shows that it hangs when it gets to what I think is the built-in IR receiver in the tv-tuner.
Trying to manually unbind with this command shows the same behaviour, works for my mouse but when I try it on the DTV2000ds it just hangs and doesn't complete.
    sudo sh -c 'echo -n "0000:00:xx.x" > unbind'
Manually running the above command in ubuntu completes successfully.
Can anyone suggest what to try next? If you want any specific log files let me know.
    Thanks,
    hubrat

Marking as solved as I found a workaround. Instead of trying to unload ehci_hcd, I unloaded the module for my tv tuner - In this particular case dvb_usb_af9015. I reload it on resume and everything is working as expected.

I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. It would seem that the latest tweeks to the OS is the problem with wifi connectivity.

  • Iweb publishing to...99% - but doesn't complete the task

I've had no problems w/ iweb on my site, www.usgreenlist.com
until now. The problems began after I deleted a very short blog page and added a snippet on another page to direct some one to a TV program in iTunes.
Now iWeb loads 99% of the way, doesn't do the last update, and doesn't complete the publishing task. and sits...as if it were frozen.
I've looked at iWeb help, I've published 'all' as instructed, instead of just the updates. I have the most updated iWeb.
    Any suggestions? Thank you.

You can also try quitting iWeb, deleting the file Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist,
restarting your Mac, running Disk Utility to repair permissions and then relaunching and try publishing again.

  • Exchange 2010 to 2013 cross forest migration doesn't have an SMTP address that matches the target delivery domain

I’m having a problem moving a mailbox from exchange 2010 sp3 to Exchange 2013 which are in two separate forests.
    Two way trust in place
    Certificates imported
    ADMT is set up.
SMTP namespace oldcompany.org and newcompany.org for the old email domain and new one is configured to be shared between forests.
    I’m doing the following:
    Step 1
    Prepare-MoveRequest.ps1 -Identity [email protected] -RemoteForestDomainController DC1. oldcompany.Local -RemoteForestCredential $RemoteCredentials -LocalForestDomainController DC1. newcompany.local -LocalForestCredential $LocalCredentials  -TargetMailUserOU
    "OU=Office Users , DC=newcompany,DC=local" –verbose
Everything goes ok, and a disabled user is created. A disabled user account is created in the correct OU.
Email address is set to [email protected]
    Proxy smtp addresses are set:
    smtp:[email protected]
    SMTP:[email protected]
    smtp:[email protected]
    Step 2
I then use ADMT and migrate sid history ect.
    Step 3
New-MoveRequest –Identity [email protected] –Remote –Remotehostname exchange.oldcompany.local  -RemoteCredential $RemoteCredentials –TargetDeliverydomain exchange.newcompany.local
This then fails with the error:
The target mail user newcompany.local/Office Users /mark test' doesn't have an SMTP address that matches
    the target delivery domain 'exchange.newcompany.local'.

Any ideas what I am missing.

    Hi Walkersway,
As you have mentioned both the domains are "shared between forests", I would assume its added to the accepted domains as Internal Relay. Also you have 'Send Connector' Setup to relay out the email to the new forest.
"You configure the SMTP domain as an internal relay domain to make sure that email that's addressed to that domain is accepted by the Exchange organization. The connector configuration of your organization determines how messages are routed."
In your case "newcompany.local" should be present.
    Try this:
New-MoveRequest –Identity [email protected] –Remote –Remotehostname exchange.oldcompany.local -RemoteCredential $RemoteCredentials –TargetDeliverydomain newcompany.local
The TargetDeliveryDomain parameter specifies the FQDN of the external email address
created in the source forest for the mail-enabled user when the move request is complete. This parameter is allowed only when performing remote moves with the
    Remote or RemoteLegacy parameter.

  • Migration Assistant not completing over wireless from PC

I have a new Macbook Air and am trying to complete the Migration Assistant from a Dell XPS PC (laptop). The process will begin just fine, but says it will take 9, then10, even up to 11 hrs., etc. then doesn't wind up working even after those time frames have passed.
I have a very fast internet connection, so I am not sure why this would be happening. Is there a way to use an ethernet cable instead of wifi? I tried connecting the two computers with an ethernet on a whim but my Mac didn't reconginze the PC, and vicea versa.
I'd like to avoid manually bringing over my PC files if at all possible.... Any suggestions will be much appreciated!!

Did you read through this knowledge base article on migration assistant for PC to Mac transfer?  You can use a wired network in addition to wireless.

  • JMS Migration - doesn't seem to work properly

    Hi,
I have a cluser with three managed nodes. I am experimenting with manual
migration of JMS services when the 'active' server goes down. The behaviour
it exhibits is distrinctly odd. If I kill the active server, and try to use
the console to migrate, then the various servers never seem to be able to
agree on what the current server is. server1 thinks its server1 (which it
is). Server2 and 3 seem to think it's server2. If I migrate from the (now
killed) active server to an active one, by navigating to
server1/control/Migrate, then I get the option to migrate from server1 to
server 2. If I confirm I want to do this, then it says migrating from
server1 to server1!!! WLS generally seems to get very confused as to which
is the current servers, and which servers can be the migration target. If I
start with a fresh cluster, with 3 managed nodes, and start up the admin
server and 2 of the managed nodes, then WLS (rather bizzarly) chooses the
third (not started) node as the one to associate the JMS services with! If
I try to use the command line utility (weblogic.Admin) to migrate instead of
using the console, then things get even worse. It will only correctly
peform the migration rarely. It often tells me that the target server that
I'm migrating to is already the active one (which it isn't). Even worse -
it often says 'OK' but in fact non of the servers are then hosting the JMS
              service.
Anybody else experienced these sorts of migration issues. I've tried this
with WLS 7.0 SP1 and WLS 7.0 SP2, and WLS 8.1 SP1 and they all exhibit the
              same behaviour.
              Cheers,
              Stanley.

After some testing I found out that when you migrate to server2 from server1, it
does the migration, server2 gets updated and knows that it is now hosting JMS
servers, however server1 does not get updated, this can be seen in the console
under migration check the console before and after the migration, server1 will
still show as it being the JMS host or target.
There are 2 ways to over come this.
              1. Migrate from server1 to server2 and from server2 to server2, the second step
updates server1's properties and now the console shows up correctly.
              2. Do not migrate just target JMS server to which ever server you want under the
targets tab under JMS server configuration. This seems to work using the console.
