Migration of R12.1.3 from RHEL linux 32 bit to 64 bit.

Hi
My environment having RHEL 5.4 (32 bit) running R12.1.3 database 11.1.0.7.0
Metalink ID : 471566.1
I did the following steps on source system (32 bit)
1. Exported all the OLAP workspaces.
2. Remove OLAP from the 32bit database
3. Compile invalid objects.
4. Copy the database (.dbf) files from the source machine to the target machine
5. Copy the database configuration files init.ora and ifilecbo.ora
I did the following steps on target system (64 bit)
1. Install database software 11.1.7.0
2. Recreate the database control files
3. As per ID : 802875.1, i checked and need to apply 20 patches.
For that i applied patches
p6880880_111000_Linux-x86-64.zip
8833297
After i applied patch : 8833297, in post installation steps, i have to run utlrp.sql.
While running utlrp.sql, It hangs on 1718 invalid objects remaining to compile. In alert log,

    Hi,
Yes, you can -- See (Note: 216664.1 - FAQ: Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i), Can I clone from one operating system version to another?
For cloning, you need to make sure that all OS pre-req software and packages are installed.

  • Migrate 9.2.0.7 from 32-bit  to 10.2.0.4 on 64-bit

Hi All, how can i migrate Oracle 9.2.0.7 database from Suse Linux 32-bit to Oracle 10.2.0.4 on OUL 64-bit? Our database is about 120 Gb and i thing that exp/imp will do it very slow. What is the best and shortest way?

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A COMPLETE COLD BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASE BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING.
Check the certification matrix in first place to find out if Oracle 10g is available for your OS version.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
The simplest way that I can think of is to upgrade the database on 32 bit server itself to 10.2.0.4 and then migrate the same to 64 bit directly. You can, however, upgrade to a lower version of 10.2.0.x also.
If you keep your directory structure the same on both servers, then you should be able to upgrade using startup upgrade command on target server.
Refer Note 316889.1 Complete checklist for manual upgrades to 10gR2. I could not find an equivalent Linux note but I think the utlip.sql execution mentioned in note 403522.1 should hold for Linux as well.
Last option is good old export-import. 120GB is not a big amount of data considering the current processor capabilities and disk speeds.
@Others: Please correct me if I am wrong or suggest a better solution if one exists.

  • Oracle Application R12.1.1 Migration from Solaris to Linux 64-bit

    Hi,
    Our existing System:
    On Solaris 9:
    Database 10.2.0.2
    EBS 11.5.10.2
We are planning to Upgrade the system to
    Database 11.2.0.3
    EBS R12.1.3
We also want to migrate to RHEL 5 64-bit.
Please let me know if you have experience with respect to the following issues:
    1. Can I use *Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 438086.1]* as reference for my scenario? The document mentions that only Windows is supported as the source platform.
    2. When they copy APPL_TOP from source to target - how the binaries from source operating system will work on target operating system? Else, are they platform independent?
    3. Will the following approach work?
    a. Migrate 10.2.0.2 database from source (Solaris) to target (RHEL 5 64-bit).
    b. Upgrade 10.2.0.2 database to 11.2.0.3 on target.
    c. Install R12.1.1 in upgrade mode on target.
    d. Retrofit customization.
    e. Upgrade R12.1.1 to R12.1.3
Also can you recommend best practise for Migrating database?
    Thanks in advance.

Note: Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 438086.1) reads: "The instructions in this document are for migration to a target UNIX/Linux platform. At present, Windows is only supported as a source platform."
Note the word SOURCE. So the restriction is Windows cannot be used as a TARGET platform, but other platforms can.
The content of the APPL_TOP is re-used in the Target environment, except for the binaries; these are delivered by applying the "customer-specific update" as in Note : Application Tier Platform Migration with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 438086.1)
For information on the database migration check Note: 10g Release 2 Export/Import Process for Oracle Applications Release 11i (Doc ID 362205.1) and http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/migrating_ebusiness_suite_databases_between_platfo
The scenario seems OK, but needs to be tested of course.
For information related to upgrading the database for the EBS upgrade check Note: Database Preparation Guidelines for an E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Upgrade (Doc ID 761570.1)

    Hi;
1- Installl Redhat Enterprose Linux 5 64 bit ( need to confirm the 5.x version ) as the current DB 10.2.0.5 will not certified for RHEL6Correct only 11.2.0.3 db version is certified with RHEL6.
In oracle certification I can see the certified 64 bit RHEL OS for 10.2.0.5 is RHEL5 ("Oracle Database 10.2.0.5.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5"). Please let me know the last supported version in RHEL5 which I can go for. I could not find anything about it. I am thinking, I can go for RHEL 5.5 and in the same OS can I upgrade DB 10.2.0.5 to version 11.2.0.3 after the migration.?The latest version is 5.8 and you can download it from e-delivery.

  • Migrate Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 from Sun solaris to RHE Linux 32 bit.

We are migrating the Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 from Solaris two node to Linux two node including the database Oracle 10.2.04 64 bit.
Since the applications only support 32 bit we are not able to store CM tier in a 64 bit Linux so with this considerations we are going with the below plan.
    1. Install RHEL 5 as a 32 bit for two nodes ( One for DB/CM and FORMS/WEB)
    2. Migrate the applications and DB from Solaris to Linux as the same node configuration that is
    Node A:
    Oracle DB 10.2.0.4 64 bit ( SUN oS 10 64bit) -> Oracle 10.2.0.5 32bit (RHEL 5 32 bit)
    Oracle Apps CM 11.5.10.2 (SUN OS 10 64bit) -> Oracle apps CM 32 bit(RHEL 5 32 bit)
    Node B:
    Oracle apps 11.5.10.2 forms (sun OS 10) -> Oracle apps 11.5.10.2 forms ( RHEL 5 32bit)
    Oracle apps WEB 11.5.10.2 (SUN OS 10) -> Oracle apps WEB 11.5.10.2 ( RHEL 5 32 bit).
Question : 1. Did you see any snag on this kind of migration
    2. Any documentation to migrate the Oracle APPS 11i 10.2.0.4-64 bit database from Sun Solaris to oracle apps 11i 10.2.0.5-32 bit on Linux

    Hi,
    1. Did you see any snag on this kind of migrationWhy would you downgrade the db from 64 bit to 32 bit. As 32 Bit has lot of memory limitations.
You could keep the database on 64 bit for linux too.
    2. Any documentation to migrate the Oracle APPS 11i 10.2.0.4-64 bit database from Sun Solaris to oracle apps 11i 10.2.0.5-32 bit on Linux Please see

  • Migration of weblogic 8.1 from solaris to 10.3 in Linux

    Hello All,
We want migrate our WebLogic 8.1 from Solaris to 10.3 in linux, i am unable to find any documents on this.
Can any one help me on this.
    Thanks,
    Nkhil

install linux version of weblogic 10.3
create domain, you may have to extend your domain to include adf libraries.
    start admin server
    goto, console create datasource
    also you can enable tunneling
    open your project in jdev
create an app. server for tunneling
    deploy it.
    that's what I did.

  • Migrate from RHEL 4 to RHEL 5

We are on a split tier configuration of Ebusiness suite, web and forms node on RHEL 4 server while concurrent node alongwith the database is on AIX server.
To upgrade the Apps tier from RHEL 4 to RHEL 5. Can we clone the apps tier From RHEL4 to RHEL5
    Thank You

Sorry I would like to rephrase that
We are on 11.5.10.2 . My question arises from note 850358.1. wherein for the application tier it only mentions cloning.
also as per note 216664.1 bullet 13 we can clone from a lower version to an higher version.
Just want to confirm if I got that right. Let me know if this still needs to be reposted in the linux forum

  • 12.0.4 Migration from RedHat Linux 4.0 (32-bit) to RedHat Linux 5.0 (64-Bit

    Hi,
    1) I have migrated our E-bus Environment (Test Instance) from RHEL 4.0 32-bit to RHEL 5.0 (64-bit) as per the Note IDs 416301.1 and 471566.1.
    2) The Application has been tested by the test team after migration and it is working fine.
    3) I did not upgrade the JDK 1.5 from 32-bit to 64-bit.
Is it a must to upgrade the JDK from 32-bit to 64-bit after the migration or will the application work fine if the JDK is left untouched?
We also plan to upgrade to 12.1.1 and then to 12.1.3 on RHEL 5.0 64-bit which I think requires JDK 6.0 as per the note 752619.1.
AS a part of JDK upgrade, Do I have to have JDK 6.0 64-bit for the application to work properly or JDK 6.0 32-bit is good enough?

  • Migrating Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 from Linux 32-bit to Linux 64-bit

    Hello Experts.
We have to do R12 upgrade.
    Currently:
    database (11.2.0.3) running on RH5 64 bit
apps (11.5.10.2) running on RH5 32 bit (separate machines, of course)
    Plan:
migrate db and apps tiers to separate 64bit RH6 machines
then migrate again to a shared machine
    then upgrade to R12
I know that 11.5.10.2 is not supported on 64 bit so is this plan fatally flawed, or is it do-able?
Thank you for any sensible offers.

You are right, Oracle EBS 11i is not certified on Linux 64-bit for the application tier node -- Frequently Asked Questions: Oracle E-Business Suite Support on x86-64 (Doc ID 343917.1)

  • DB2 Migration from Windows - Linux supported with Backup/Restore ?

    Hi folks,
we have to do a DB2 V9.1 migration from Windows -> Linux. Both servers are Intel based. Is it official supported by SAP to do this without SAP migration tools? E.g. with a backup/restore or redirected restore? I heard about it, but i'm not sure.
    Thanks a lot
    Jochen
Edited by: Jochen Raab on Mar 1, 2010 5:40 PM

    Hi Jochen,
Please have a look at the DB2 docu.
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r7/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.ha.doc/doc/c0005960.html
It clearly stats that Linux and Windows are not compatible.
DB2® database systems support some backup and restore operations between different operating systems and hardware platforms.
The supported platforms for DB2 backup and restore operations can be grouped into one of three families:
    Big-endian Linux® and UNIX®
    Little-endian Linux and UNIX
    Windows®
A database backup from one platform family can only be restored on any system within the same platform family. For Windows operating systems, you can restore a database created on DB2 Universal Database (UDB) V8 on a DB2 Version 9 database system. For Linux and UNIX operating systems, as long as the endianness (big endian or little endian) of the backup and restore platforms is the same, you can restore backups that were produced on DB2 UDB V8 on DB2 Version 9.
So you need to do an eport/import.
    Regards,
      Joachim
