Migration Tool - Upsert Access Profile - Invalid input value

Folks,
I am migrating AccessProfiles and I'm trying to Upsert the Admin access profiles as it's a new deployment and I'm moving code from Staging to Production. I have successfully Upserted all new AccessProfiles but get this error for the Admin AccessProfiles:
Invalid input value 'CR' for 'CustObj1 Cmpltd Activity'(SBL-ODS-50843)
I already have the correct privileges, I have full access to the entity via Role Settings and I can even manually set the Permission for Custom Object 1 - Completed Activity as Create/Read. Anyone come across this? Is this a bug?

Any ideas?
Invalid dimension error usually appears if there is no member or invalid chars etc in a member of the dimension.
The note 1661799 says , assigning a member in a data access profile and deleting that member causes this error. I checked this case, too.

Oracle Migration Tool Upsert failed

Hello
I met the following problem. ReadAll Picklist works fine with the Migration Tool.
*** Migrationtool -u <username> -s <CRM on Demand Server> ReadAll Picklist**
I´ve got the picklist.xml files into my repository folder.
After that I tried to test the upsert method by changing picklist values for Route in the account object. The following command:
_** Migrationtool -u<username> -s<servername> Upsert Picklist <path to xml>*_
runs successfully
but nothing has changed in CRM On Demand.
Any suggestions? They would be highly appriciated.

Hello Jan,
after a while working at the basics I find out, that only new objects or objects that has changed will be downloaded by the ReadAll command. Other XML-Files will be empty, so an error occured on UpSert method. All other UpSert commands will work fine except the UpSert for Role-Settings. That upsert will end up in an "access denied" error. Upserts on Related InformationLayout will suceed but not in full functionality.

Oracle Migration Tool giving Access denied error for Read operation

Oracle Migration tool is giving access denied error when we are trying to Read a record for Access Profiles.
We are getting (SBL-ODS-50085) error.This is happening only for few records(Access Profiles).
Although the user role is administrator having full access and privilege (Manage User and Access checked).
Pl. help me resolve the issue.

Does it happen when you try to read "any" Access Profile?
If yes, please have a look at the
"Admin: Users and Access Controls - Manage Users and Access - Manage Users and establish User Quotas. Define Access Profiles, Roles and Groups to manage data access controls." privilege in the role of the user you use for migration.
In order to avoid any problem, I usually create a "Migration" role temporarily and assign this role ALL the privileges to avoid such failures at the time of export.

Getting "Invalid Precision Value" Error

I am totally stumped and need some help. I am using Java 1.3.1 and have a JDBC-ODBC connection setup to an Access97 database. There is a field in the database table that is an OLEObject and I am using setBytes in a PreparedStatement to set that field.
I have been given two scenarios: one that succeeds and one that fails.
For the success case, the length of the byte array is 8158.
For the failure case, the length of the byte array is 7982. The error I get is:

You can try out
setObject() instead of setBytest() ,method of PreparedStatement.
It worked in my case when I faced similar problem setting
a string object on Preparedstatement.

use if function like Uservalue(<role>)<> Administrator then one value otherwise another value. Hope it help, i never tried this, use the following syntax IIF(Uservalue(<role>)<> Administrator,value1,value2).

Hello Raj,
It seems that this user does not have proper authorization to perform Data Migration.
You need to go to the WorkCenter View Assignment for this user under his access rights & need to assign him the workcenter "Business Configuration" & under it, also assign him relevant access to Data Migration.
This shall fix the issue & the user shall not get this error while trying to perform Data Migration.
Steps:
1. Go to Workcneter: "Application and User Management => Business Users => Seerach for the suer who gets this error => Edit-> Access Rights => Click on Workcenter view Assignment tab & assign the above mentioned worokcenter access and save."

Using Sun's Migration Tool

I have been handed a project where the primary requirement is to
convert a Websphere/DB2 application to either Sun App server(or
JBoss)/Apache/M$ SQL Server or some other DB like mySQL.
The
first item I undertook was to get the code (jar files, ear files, etc)
and the DDL files for the database. Next, I downloaded and setup
Eclipse for J2EE development, installed Sun's App Server, downloaded
the Sun Migration Tool and followed the instructions to enable it to
work within the App Server environment. As a test, I randomly grabbed a
JAR file from the pile of code to see if it would run through the
Migration tool. Of course, it threw an exception... but, I'm at a loss

** bump ** still having this issue... and am pulling hairs out (losing more than gaining these days...) trying to figure out why the migration tool starts out fine then craps.
I decided to uninstall everything and create a whole new install of the latest j2EE JDK (since my original install had stuff inside of c:\Program Files\Java - and I wanted to eliminate tricky issues with having a space in the path). So, after uninstall and deleting all Java, I went through the registry on my dev machine and did a search for "c:\Program Files\Java" and replaced them all with "c:\java" - the new location for java stuff to be installed - then reinstalled everything anew.
then I tried migrating an ear that was a web app...

Error while installing Migration Tool kit for SAP BPC7.0

Hi all,
We are implementing SAP Business Planning and Consolidation Migration Process to BPC 7.0.
We are trying to installin Migration Tool Kit. In this kit we are having two set up files - one for BPCMigrationClient and another for BPCMigrationServer.
When i am trying to install the BPCMigrationServer set up file it diaplays a screen which says - Enter the service type accounts.- it has the following items - 1. System Admin ID, 2. password, 3. Admin ID, 4. Admin Password, 5. User ID, 6. User Password.
1. System Admin ID already has the id ( through which i have logged on to the system). This option is non editable.
2. password: gives option to type in the password.
3, 4, 5, 6 options are disabled and are blank. we are not able to edit them or write anything in them.
After entering the password when clicked on next , it gives us message saying Invalid Admin ID (3). But the problem here is that the 3,4,5 and 6 options are disabled. We cannot write anything in them. We are not able to install the migration tool kit because of this.
Can anyone help us out in solving this issue.

Migration from 5.1 to SAP BPC 7.0 NW?
In that case when you are speaking about the installation about what part are you speaking?
I think actually you are speaking about the migration tool from 4.2 to 7.0 Microsoft version .
In that case you can install the mIgration tool just with SAP BPC sys admin users and you have to input the password for that user. Sys admin user for BPC is usually the user used for installation of SAP BPC server.
Any way I suggest to follow the Migration tool training document and there you will find all the information necessary.

Go to NWA>Configuration>Infrastructure>Java System Properties, Click on the Applications tab and search tc~pi~tools~dirmig~wd & Start Application as shown in below screenshot.

Data Migration from Microsoft Access to Oracle 9i

Dear All
This is my first request in your forum,My problem is that I have installed SQL developer but unable to migrate my MDB (Microsoft access file) into Oracle 9i,I have done the following activities in order to migrate data.
open sql developer
under migration,click quick migration
quick migration wizard diaglog box appear,click new,
in the oracle tab, input the following information
input connection name 'zuhair',give user name and password (sys/s),check save password option,give role "sysdba" ,give connection type "basic",didnt check any any check box like os authorization and others,give host name 'zkhan-dfml',port '1521',sid 'dba' and then push the test button and then status show "success"
in the access tab, input the following information
input connection name ,input mdb file name by using browse button,after this step click test button then the following message display 'test fail odbc microsoft access driver not a valid password
I have tried to create odbc link but i think i have done some thing wrong,kindly help

Hi Zuhair,
If you give details of the problems you are still having then we should be able to get SQL*Developer to work.
However, if you don't want to use SQL*Developer then the following options are taken from note 393760.1 available in Metalink if you have access to that -
1. Use a gateway that supports the non-Oracle database or generic connectivity if a third party ODBC driver is available to do a -
'create Oracle_table as select from non_oracle_table@database_link'
for each table. You would then have to manually create all the other objects (views, indexes, stored procedurs etc) and permissions etc that existed in the non-Oracle database.
2. Use the SQL*Plus COPY command to copy data from the non-Oracle database to the
Oracle database using a gateway or generic connectivity. The syntax is as follows:
COPY FROM username/password@oracle_sid -
INSERT destination_oracle_table -
USING query;
The following example selects all rows from the EMP table in the non-Oracle database and
inserts them into the local Oracle EMP table:
COPY FROM SCOTT/TIGER@ora10 -
INSERT EMP -
USING SELECT * FROM SCOTT.EMP@gateway;
where "gateway" is the database link created for the gateway.
3. Load the non-Oracle data into flat files and use SQL*Loader to put the data into Oracle tables. Again manual
work is required for the other objects.
4. Contact the Oracle Product Technology Services (PTS) group for assistance. See the webpage -

5. Use a third party migration tool. See -

Invalid NameSpace Value when Using DB Link

I am receiving the following error within apex when I try to access data across a database link:
failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-28267: Invalid NameSpace Value
ORA-02063: preceding line from DB_LINK
When I access the same data using a database tool like Toad, I do not get the error.
We are using:
Apex 4.0.1
Clustered WebLogic 10.3.4
APEX_LISTENER_VERSION 1.0.2.238.15.24

NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production

I have a different database link that works just fine, the only difference between the db links that I know of is that the one with the error has select/insert/update/delete and the one that works has select only.
Has anybody ever seen this?

Ok. Here's the results. Using a PL/SQL region with the function throws the same error (string buffer too small).
So I checked the length of company_name and the longest string value is 47.
Then I checked the _XL function and got the same error. This is even showing in SQL Workshop's SQL Commands.

Member Access Profile in BPC

Hi,
I have some doubts w.r.t Member access profile in BPC. We have Entity and Category as secured dimension. Entity is read only (All members). Category is R/W (All members).
1) If i add a third row, and deny only one base member of Entity, whether it will work fine? Which definition system will accept? Read or deny?
2) In the above scenario, if i run the report on summary node of hierarchy (which has a denied base member), whether i will be able to read the values at summary node level.
3) When i say Entity members are read only .. cant i do input using input schedules for those entities?
4) How we need to copy these BPC authorizations to BI in BPC 7.0 (NW). Do we need to recreate these authorization concept in BI or the authorizations i define in BPC 7.0 (NW) are valid for BI also. In this case, if i run a report on BPC cubes using query designer in BI, how authorizations are checked?
Please suggest.

I will try to answer your questions:
1+2) If you give read/write access to a "Parentmember" all these settings are applied to all childs of this member. So if you give Read Access to a Parent the User will be able to see everything under this Member.
3) If you have Read Only on a Member, you cant send Data to the Database via Inputschedule.
If you have Read Only on the whole Entity Dimension you cant do any posting in the whole cube, regardless of the settings in Category Dimension (but I think this is clear in Multidimensional Systems)
4) Unfortunatly in Germany the RampUmp Version of BPC7NW is still not shipped, so I cant answer on this point
