Minidisc stuck in MacBook Pro

Yep, I did it, stuffed a minidisc in the Book's drive and now it's stuck inside. The Mac doesn't recognize it and won't spit it out. I tried rebooting a couple of times, heard the drive spin up, but the disk is still in there. Anyone have any ideas how to get the disc out?

Hmm...
You have few choices.
1. Take the machine into a Apple Store and get charged for having the CD disc removed.
2. Play around with the machine, shake it, stick things into the slot etc and pray!
or
3. Take the top of yourself. There are guides online for users to upgrade the parts that apple suggest you don't.
(e.g. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/)
Now.. if your careful with a precision screw driver and torx, you could remove all the screws and sort your machine out. But damaging the screws or anything inside will ultimately void your warranty and possibly kill your machine.
Personally I'd take option 2 first... then find out how much it might cost.. and at a last resort, DIY.
Keep us posted.

  • Charging Status Stuck On MacBook Pro

So I had my MacBook Pro charging, and it said it was on 59%. For some reason, it had been stuck at 59% for a while. I highlighted the power readout in the menu bar, and it said 20:00 until full. I unplugged the charging cable and plugged it back in, then it read 89% full and charging.
Is this a problem with the OS or the battery?

      Resetting SMC may help.

  • Caps key stuck on macbook pro

Hey there.. using a Macbook Pro 2.4 ghz 4 gb running latest OS 10.8.5
I went to use my computer tonight and found that the caps lock is stuck.
    - I didn't spill anything on it
    - I pulled up the shift keys.. there is no grease or food or anything in there my keyboard is immaculate ( I'm a Virgo )
    - I've done a total clean install of the OS and there is still the exact same problem
    - I've gone into the keyboard settings in the system folder and tried turning the shift key off.. no solution..
    - I've contacted my Haitain neighbor ( she is a voodoo priestess ) she put a spell on it to fix it... no luck
It will only start in safe boot mode....
I cannot reset the permiter ram... even using an external keyboard
I cannot run the ADT ( apple diagnostics test ) by restarting it and holding down the D key.
There is one other problem... that is it periodically runs slowly as well.. like its in space ( when you go to click on an folder on the dock.. the folder opens super slow )
    I don't have apple care.. I know I know... dumb move !
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    John

It's possible that it's burned out.
I'd try a SMC reset following these instructions:

  • Ram stuck in MacBook Pro. HELP PLEASE

Today I bought 8GB ram for my MacBook Pro late 2011 15 inch so I removed the previous ram that came with the MacBook Pro no problem but  when I went to go put the first Ram in I accidentally pushed it to far into the bottom and now it's stuck. What can I do to get it out!!! It's jammed in there tight and won't move i've tried pushing it away from the  back metal part but no luck. If I take it into the Genius Bar will they charge me for it I'm still under warranty It doesn't look like I have broken anything just the ram is stuck . Please help anybody !?

If I take it into the Genius Bar will they charge me for it
Even if they do, it will cost you a lot less than a new logic board, which is what you'll need if you cause damage while trying to extract the DIMM's by force.

  • Silica gel stuck in Macbook pro headphone jack

The silica gel packet in my laptop bag exploded (it's a new bag, and I had no idea the packet was in there) and now I've got a bead jammed in headphone ports.
Any suggestions will be appreciated .

    Hurray issue got solved
Initially I took my MacBook pro to some Apple store but it could not help ,the Apple executive there said that they tried to remove the silica gel but failed to do so . Instead the executive insisted me to replace entire logic board and it will cost around 35,000 rs INR(550 $)  I was totally I mean *** .
Then latter I took it  to another Apple authorized service center and those guys managed to take the silica gel out
Thanks all for your quick response.

  • Dvd stuck in macbook pro

I cannot get a DVD to eject from my Macbook Pro.  When I eject through the standard ways, the DVD mechanism obviously is trying to eject, but the disk will not come out of the slot.  It then remounts the DVD and it starts to play.

I've tried that and all the other possible ways described in previous posts.  The computer TRIES to eject the DVD, but it will not come through the slot.  Instead, it remounts and starts to play again.  I suspect the DVD may have been slightly warped.

  • Ram stuck in MacBook pro

    Hi,
So I have to take my MacBook pro into the genius bar to get the battery replaced as it has failed. To be safe I decided that I would change the ram back to the standard 4gb that it came with as I upgraded to 8gb. I managed to remove the 8gb fine and put the 4 gb back in. I then booted up my MacBook pro to discover that only one slot was working. I then reopened my mac and pushed the top one down further as it didn't appear to be in position. I heard it then click into position as it normally would. One again I booted up my mac and only one slot of ram was working. I then reopened my mac once more but this time the ram appears to be jammed as I cannot release the top one using the clips and nothing happens. Only one slot is currently working, which is 2gb.
Is there anything I can do to release the jammed ram. After a few searchers it appears that I am not the only person this has happens to, so it must be somewhat of a common occurrence, although it didn't happen when I first upgraded my ram.
Also as I am going to the genius bar tomorrow would they be happy enough to fix it for me. I only ask because this is something that I have done myself, and the apple care policy does not cover accidental damage, although I'm sure it's only a case of them getting the ram out and making sure it is correctly inserted, although what would happen if it was something more serious or they will not do it?
My MacBook pro is a mid 2010 model.
    Thanks

I'd just ask the genius bar folks to have a go at it. It's doubtful that you damaged anything. Just take your 8GB in and ask them to install it when they replace the battery - there will likely be no charge.

I accidently put a small dvd inside my macbook pro not realizing that it wasnt supported by my computer. I've tried everything to get it out, pressing eject, restarting the computer and even shaking it but the dvd wont come out.

Try some tape folded over a tongue depressor or something similar.

  • Trackpad Stuck On Macbook Pro 13

Hello everyone, this morning I turned on my macbok pro, and I found my trackpad was stuck on the left and right hand side. I remembered clearly yesterday is was still fine. Now I have to use point to click and I now could not drag stuff. I thought that my battery had swollen, but the condition of the battery is still normal and have good health, the cover under had also not poped up. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Trackpads are tricky - if they've a hardware fault, as yours seems to, the best thing that you can do is to take the machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them look at the trackpad and determine what is needed to fix it.
There's really nothing that you can personally do to fix your problem - unless you want to order the part from ifixit or PowerbookMedic and install it yourself (which is no guarantee to solve the problem).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Gray / black transparent box stuck on macbook pro

I went into my user account settings and clicked on "Login Options" all that happened was a transparent black /gray box appeared in the upper right. I have loged out then back in and I have rebooted. That box is still there.
Just to add more information: the box looks like the quicktime fullscreen controls except with no controls on it. It doesn't move and it doesn't interfere with clicking etc. It is just very annoying. I took a screenshot and posted it here:
    http://bp0.blogger.com/_mseD1ap1W2E/R9t4coGVAvI/AAAAAAAAAVo/R-zFnWtzAis/s1600-h/ Picture+1.jpg

I need to follow up with: I went into the settings again and messed around. If I disable fast-user-switching then the box disappears, if I enable it, the box comes back.
Another (probably important) note is that I am running winswitch software. Could be a glitch?

  • Macbook Pro weird issue need help please

Just updated this Macbook Pro 2.16 ghz to 3 gigs ram and installed Leopard. Screen won't show at all, is all black though the machine seems to boot. The OS disc is in the optical drive, though can't boot to it nor can it be ejected.
Strangest thing I've ever seen. Anyone have a thought on this?

You might try working through the steps in this article--hopefully the resets will help:

  • Trying to transfer Hi-MiniDisc files to my MacBook Pro

Hi,I have a Hi-MiniDisc MZ-NH700 with a lot of music, and I´m trying to transfer it to my Macbook Pro with an OS X Lion 10.7.4 software.
I connect the Hi-MiniDisc via USB port but my Mac didn´t detect it...do I need something to make it work? ...anybody out there to help me with this issue?
    Thanks!!!

Are there actual Mini CD discs inthis unit? That you can Remove?
If so you are going to need a Tray Load external CD/DVD drive and remove those disc from that Sony. This will work IF the discs are written with a standard Music File Format.
    NOTE!!!!!!!!!
Do NOT put those Mini Discs in the MBP Slot Load CD/DVD drive. They Will Not Work in it and they will get stuck.

  • A clean install on my MacBook Pro has left my icons stuck on the right side of the desktop. I want to move them but there is no 'None' option which I think would free them to move where I wish. Suggestions?

A clean install on my MacBook Pro has left me with my icons stuck in the grid on the right side of my desktop. I had the ability to move them and have them stay put in various sectors of the desktop, which I found very useful.  The clean install upgraded the OS to 10.6.8 from 10.5.8. I want to move them again but there I see no 'None' option which I think would free them to move where I wish. Has the upgrade deleted that option? Suggestions? I am new to this community and if not new to Mac, I often feel that way. This is one of those times.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.
