Minimizing Sylpheed to tray in PyPanel

I've checked "minimize to tray icon" under Configuration->Common Preferences->Details->Interface and the Sylpheed icon is in the tray.
Minimizing the window (by clicking on the window, by using an Openbox shortcut, by clicking on the PyPanel task bar, or by clicking on the Sylpheed tray icon) minimizes Sylpheed to the task bar instead (or rather, as applications normally do).
It does remove the window from Openbox's alt-tab dialogue, but I just can't get remove it from the task bar ([email protected] - Sylpheed 2.5.0).
Has anyone else come across this problem? Can this be fixed through configuration or is it a Sylpheed/PyPanel/Openbox bug?
The mentioned apps are all the latest versions in the extra and community repos, architecture is x86_64.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I didn't have to change anything in .pypanelrc... xchat just worked, which is why I suspect that this may be a bug.

Itunes disappears when minimized to system tray

i have itunes set to minimize to the system tray, but when i do, it doesn't go to the tray, it just disappears
my music is still playing but itunes just isn't there
if i open task manager, it isn't in the applications tab, but it is in the processes tab as itunes.exe

Is there a way to have iTunes startup in the system tray? I have a business process using Video iPods where my clients have asked about this capability. There are a number of 'internal' podcasts that our sales force subscribes to and having iTunes start in the system tray allows this process to work background rather than 'in your face'.

So just strip out the popup menu code from the code snippets given in the article.
The mouse listener code is already there... it's fairly straightforward and no one here will spoon feed you code

How to Capture the event when minimized button is clicked of a JFrame?

Hi All,
In my SWING application, I want to do something when the minimized button is clicked. But not able to understand how to do that.
My basic requirement is like that, if I minimize the JFrame, it should be minimized to system tray with an icon. Again when the icon is clicked, the frame should be maximized in the Windows.
Also, how to make my JFrame visible/invisible. If I close it, then the process will got killed... that I don't want to happen. Should I us setVisible(true/false) for the frame... Please suggest...

How do I get my keyboard hotkeys to work on itunes while it's minimized?

On my keyboard I have keys for the normal stuff (pause, play, stop, forward, back) and they all work with itunes but only if itunes is open...which sort of defeats the purpose. Is there a way to get them to work while itunes is minimized to the tray?

I'm trying to find a PC compatible keyboard I can buy that will interact with iTunes while I'm in other applications.
Google "itunes hotkeys windows" and it comes up with several results for third party plugins. (No thanks)
This should be a built in feature IMO. In those plugins they use things like ctrl+inert/pg down/pg up/etc to navigate your music when you're not in the iTunes window.
This is one area where Winamp has an advantage, since it has hotkeys built in.
At work, however, I use a mac with the cast aluminum keyboard that has the pause/play, forward/backward keys built in and they work when I'm in any app. They aren't usually very responsive (I have to tap relatively hard) but they do work.
For now I'm still browsing.

Every time when Firefox is minimized and I tab into it I can't use it. It's completely locked. Is there a way to fix this?

Every time when Firefox is minimized to the tray and I open it up again i can't use it until I click on a tab that's not focused or on the search field with the mouse. It's completely locked, I can't press ctrl+1/2/3 etc to change tab or ctrl+e to go to search. Last time everything worked like it should was on release 3.5.14
Is there a way to fix this?
Edit: I've tried reinstalling Firefox and gotten a new profile, that didn't help.
Edit2: Updated to 3.6.9 and I still have the problem.
Edit3: Just installed 3.6.11, the problem is still there.
I can't understand how 3.5.14 can work and not a singel release after that.

How to Start iTunes with Windows Minimized?

I leave my iPod connected to my PC frequently, but every time I boot to Windows, my iPod screen stays lit and says "do not disconnect" until I start iTunes.
Problem is that if I put iTunes in my "Startup" folder, then it always boots with the iTunes window open, and not minimized in the tray. I even selected "minimze to tray" option, but there is no "boot with Windows" option.
Any suggestions?

Ok, first -- iTunes is dumb. It is the only application I know that ignores the intWindowStyle variable (the "2") in the script above.

how can i add a minimize to system tray icon button near the others common buttons usually found on the upper right window bar? (i mean near the _ [] X)

like in many programs the fourth button is a dot shaped one that minimizes the program to system tray

You can't (easily). The window decorations are controled by the operating system. Your best bet is to change the functionality of the minimize-to-taskbar button and make it into a minimize-to-tray button. In fact, all the programs that minimize to the tray on my computer - about 6 of them - do it this way.

Screensaver ends and Firefox opens fullscreen from minimized.

I am using Dream Aquarium screen saver. Whenever the screensaver comes on, and I click it off by the mouse, FF8.0.1 opens up full screen from being minimized to the tray.

Does this happen when another screensaver is set? You may want to check this behavior with a built-in screensaver that came with the OS.

Looking for a panel...

I just recently switched to openbox and am looking for a panel. I'd like it to be able to display only minimized windows from all workspaces, and (optionally) a system tray. Pypanel can almost do this, but it displays all windows from other workspaces, not just the minimized ones. Is there any panel that can do what I'm looking for?

With the CS6 Beta, I cannot get into Bridge CS6. Bridge CS5 keeps coming up instead.

How do I get Bridge CS6??? Even if I go to the folder with Bridge CS6 and try to activate it from the command line, Bridge CS5 comes up. What am I doing wrong

Please make sure Br CS5 is not running in background (it is active and minimized to system tray)
In Windows, right-click the Bridge CS5 icon in the Notification Area of the Start Bar in Windows, and choose Exit Bridge. If you still cannot close Bridge, open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete. In Task Manager, choose Bridge and select End Task.
In Mac OS, Ctrl-click the Bridge CS5 icon in the dock and choose Quit.
Now try accessing Br CS6 it would work.

Soundblaster zx control panel. How to make it close and exit?

When you open the control panel then close it. Its not really closed but minimized in the tray. Is there a registry hack I can do to make it actually close. So I don't have to click close, then right click it again on the tray and hit exit.

Trouble is now, when I launch the iTunes application it doesn't "open" ... although the iTunes process begins to run in the background process (ctraltdelete).
hmmm. is itunes.exe persisting in Task Manager? if so, first check up on these two possibilities:
iTunes 6 won't open on a Windows computer if firewall software is not up-to-date
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
but if itunes.exe is disappearing after a few seconds, try the following technique:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
... and let us know the names (exact spelling please) of the start-up items that you had to disable in order to get itunes to launch. (there's a nasty piece of malware out there that has been causing "error-less" itunes launch failures since late October.)

Tomboy has %100 CPU usage :S

I started using Tomboy but have a big problem with it.. When I log in to my session of GNOME, Tomboy starts and starts also using %100 CPU.. It also starts not minimized to the tray... I think that the applet that comes out of the box with GNOME is far better than Tomboy.. (at least for now)
