Minimum 9i DB required with PLSQL web dev

Hi, I would like to do web page dev at home on Win2K, I believe the minimum required software is Oracle 9i (to match the version at work), and the Oracle HTTP server (which comes with the download). Question: Would like to minimize unnecessary tools and files, what is the "lightest" version of the DB that I must install for PLSQL web development to work?
Sorry for the basic question, I'm sure this forum has bigger fish to fry, but I haven't found an answer in the documentation.

You don't need 9iAS for this. The 9i database comes with an Oracle HTTP server. You should see this in your services list. Start the HTTP service, configure a DAD, and you can deploy your mod_plsql application.

  • Help required with plsql

    Hi all
    I am a novice user , and I have some dumb question :
    1.How do I create and execute plsql procedures in apex ??
    2.I am not able to display anything in my regions or items using dbms_output.put_line('hello');
    3.Is there any dummy's guide to plsql in apex ?? I could not find anything in the documentation that comes with apex.
    Thanks & Regards
    -Shantanu Dhanuka

    Hi,
    PL/SQL is used throughout Apex applications and for various reasons, so it would not be possible to provide a simple answer!
    There are various documents available from oracle.com. For example, here's a link to a document that explains many Apex concepts and provides simple instructions to follow. If you look at the bottom of the document you'll see how to output text on a page using PL/SQL:
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31036_01/doc/appdev.22/b28550/ui.htm#BABGGACI
    PL/SQL is an extensive language - I'm not sure that there is an on-line "Dummies guide" but here's another link that you could try:
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14261/toc.htm
    If you have specific tasks that you wish to perform and you believe that PL/SQL can help, please post a request for help in this forum explaining what you are trying to do.
    Regards

  • Prob with Adaptive Web Service Model and Response with reference of itself

    Hi guys,
    I am facing a problem with the Adaptive WebService Model. I have a WebService which is working properly in a Servlet and also in the web service navigator,
    The webService has a method let´s say create(objectDTO). The structure of objectDTO is like this:
    propertieA
    propertieB
    propertieC
    propertieChildObjectDTO
    So I can pass a list of objectDTOs to the webService. If i import the webService the structure in the model looks fine, but if i want to map it to any context, only the properties A-C are mapped. propertieChildObjectDTO is not mapped.
    Has anyone a clue on how to solve this problem ? I just tried to add and initialize the propertieChildObjectDTO manually but I got a NullPointerException.
    I would appreciate  your help.
    Happy new year guys

  • Minimum config for plsql web development

    Help! I am experienced in PLSQL for web dev on Unix, but I am trying to set up equivalent functionality on my Win2K system at home to set up presentations using the same appraoch. I think I can do this with standard edition Oracle 9i, and the simple HTTP server of Oracle 9iAS. Is this correct? Am I overlooking any major points of software setup?

    You don't need 9iAS for this. The 9i database comes with an Oracle HTTP server. You should see this in your services list. Start the HTTP service, configure a DAD, and you can deploy your mod_plsql application.

  • Problem with CLOB in PLSQL Web Service.

    Hi-
    I have Oracle Package that accepts CLOB as IN parameter and another CLOB as an OUT parameter. I went thru the tutorial in how to publish a database
    PLSQL package as a web service with out any problem. I was able to publish and call successfully my PLSQL web service thru a browser and thru a simple C# application. It's been working fine until I receive an XML file which is bigger than 32766:
    java.sql.SQLException: setString can only process strings of less than 32766 chararacters at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:137)]
    JDeveloper version: JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.2.0) Build 1929
    Oracle Application Server 10g
    I'm newbie in JDeveloper so any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    well Shay,
    i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
    I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
    But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

  • Open a web page with plsql

    Hi,
    I want to open a web page with plsql. I have tried this with utl_http.request but I have some errors like time out or site is not reacheable.
    In fact, I search to personalize a form (11.5.10) with a new menu which call a plsql procedure. And this last must open a web page.
    Any idea ?
    regards,

    The PL/SQL code should run from the server and not from the forms. Anonymous PL/SQL code written within forms application does not run from the server. The solution is to create a Server side stored procedure and call it from forms.

  • How to center Text Box on Web Page? -- Web dev with Word 2013

    I'm trying to assist a user who wants to use Word 2013 for simple web page development.
    There are many tools but they want to use Word 2013.
    Actually have it working by saving the Word 2013 files as web pages... like index.htm, about.htm, etc.
    The problem is when we use the "Insert" tab in Word to create a "Text Box" or a "Shape" ...
    And align it centered on the page... it looks fine in Word but when we open it with a web browser the "Text Box" or "shape" are no longeer centered.
    We thought we had it fixed by making the "Text Box" Layout Options "In Line with Text" but again... looks fine in Word but not in a web browser.
    The question: How can we get a "Text Box" in Word 2013 to appear centered on a web page?
    thanks for any help.

    Hi:
    For webpage design, I would suggest customized form under develop tab on the Ribbon over insert object directly. I tested from my side, using customized form will lock the object position on the
    page.

    How to import or sync Exchange data like Calendar, Contacts with a web application or web service.
    1. Is there any API to import contacts and calendar (tasks and events) from exchange server to my calendar in web application using web services or http request. the user would have provided the username and password for his exchange account.
    2. Is there any licensing involved to communicate with exchange server for its data.
    thanks in advance

    I am bit lost here; i have my exchange credentials, how (or) can i use the above mentioned solution for windows application or web services. can you please point in the right direction. my requirement is this: how to sync exchange data with a third party

  • 9.0.3 plsql web service bug?

    I've been building plsql web services for several days, and everything has been fine. I've been adding new functions on the database side, and editing my web services using the JDev wizard.
    Now it's all stopped working, and I'm getting an "unexpected error" every time I try to generate the service. The "details" for the error looks like the stuff at the end of this message.
    Before this happened, I did two potentially problematic things. I was (I thought) done with my testing, so I was cleaning up. So, I removed some functions on the plsql side. And I also did "remove from IDE" for my existing web service project, so I could start building a clean version that had just what I needed. It was when creating the fresh web service in the new project that things exploded.
    As far as I can tell from the IDE, it generates the various serialization/deserialization files and the main web service class but fails before it can create the WSDL, web.xml, and deployment stuff.

  • I deleted nodes with the web developer and the deletion has become permanent. How to undo?

    I was trying to remove all the "Recommended Pages" etc. garbage on the right-hand side of Facebook and got a little click happy with 'delete nodes' using the Web Dev tools - as cathartic as it was! :)
    Now it seems as though I have broken FB on Firefox (seems to work fine on IE, surprisingly) as pics seem to be missing and the left-hand menu as well - but, of course the stuff I was trying to rid myself of comes back just fine ... sigh.
    I've read that all changes are supposed to be temporary until you restart the browser but this hasn't helped at all and I did try unchecking the 'Use hardware acceleration when available' that I read somewhere else, to no avail.
    Any assistance that can be rendered would be very much appreciated.
    For the record, I've learned my lesson and won't futz around with this anymore! :)

    For a node deletion in the Inspector tool,revert that by reloading the page. If that isn't working for you, you could try Command+Shift+r to reload the page bypassing the cache.
    You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
    Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    HT > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Using credentials with a web service -- what our my options?

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to determine what options I have in regards to
    setting credential requirements on my web services. The two options
    seem to be:
    -Basic authentication
    -SOAP header authentication.
    I see that the WebService class has a "setCredentials"
    method, but I haven't had much success with it. Here's the
    documentation reference:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/labs/flex/3/langref/mx/rpc/AbstractService.html#setCredentials()
    It says: "Set the credentials for the destination accessed by
    the service ... Note that services that use a proxy or a
    third-party adapter to a remote endpoint will need to
    setRemoteCredentials instead."
    Great, I'm not using a proxy, so I figured it would work. I
    thought I would try it with SOAP header auth. I setup a simple
    ASP.NET web service that users SOAP header auth, and decided to
    test it out. Attached is my complete MXML (I also tried using SSL).
    The Flash player threw the following error:

    Interesting -- "Authentication not supported on
    DirectHTTPChannel (no proxy)" -- but the docs made it sound like
    that's precisely when you were to use setCredentials. If using a
    proxy, you would use setRemoteCredentials.
    So... what's up? How do I use setCredentials? And is it for
    use with SOAP header authentication, Basic authentication, or
    something else?

    This is what I'm currently pursuing. I did not have much
    success with Basic authentication (didn't work at all in IE, and,
    as you mentioned, even in browsers where it worked, if the
    username/password is wrong, the Flex UI can't intercept the login
    failure, and the user gets that ugly login popup).
    But, I'm not having much success. Here's what the SOAP
    request *should* look like, for my test web service that uses SOAP
    headers for authentication. I used a Visual Studio generated proxy
    class to make this call, and it returned the expected data from the
    web service (i.e., the SOAP authentication worked).
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="
    http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsi="
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:xsd="
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <soap:Header>
    <AuthHeader xmlns="
    http://intranet/WebServices/">
    <UserName>TestUser</UserName>
    <Password>TestPassword</Password>
    </AuthHeader>
    </soap:Header>
    <soap:Body>
    <HelloWorld xmlns="
    http://intranet/WebServices/"
    />
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    Now, I want to set this up in Flex as well. Here's what I
    tried:
    // Called when the WSDL is finished loading
    public function handleLoad(event:Event):void{
    var qName : QName = new QName( "
    http://intranet/WebServices/",
    "AuthHeader" );
    var authXml : XML = <AuthHeader>
    <UserName>TestUser</UserName>
    <Password>TestPassword</Password>
    </AuthHeader>;
    var auth : SOAPHeader = new SOAPHeader( qName, authXml );
    service.addHeader(auth);
    service.HelloWorld();
    No errors are thrown by Flex, however, the SOAP
    authentication fails (I get the expected "access denied" response
    from the web service). I used Wireshark to see what traffic was
    being sent back and forth, and this is what I see for the request
    from Flex:
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="
    http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:s="
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <SOAP-ENV:Header></SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <tns:HelloWorld xmlns:tns="
    http://intranet/WebServices/"/>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    Emphasis mine. Note that the SOAP header is empty -- what's
    going on?

  • Web auth with , intenal web page of WLC and ISE as radius server

    Hi All ,
    We have created a SSID as web auth with internal web page for login . In advanced tab we configured AAA server.  AD is integrated with ISE .
    When the user tries to get connect , he is getting redirect URL . But during the authentication , we are getting error in ISE as
    "ise has problems communicating with active directory  using its machine credentials "  and authentication getting failed .
    When we have L2 security mechanism enabled with PEAP , ISE is able to read the AD and providing authentication .
    Only for L3 web auth it is not happening..
    Any clue on this ..???
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Vijay.

    Machine credentials requires a lookup on the computer OU and that has to be defined on the client side.
    Thanks,

  • Basic auth with RESTful WEb service and Web Service reference

    Hi, All,
    We have made much progress on getting an application working wtih RESTful web services but now are trying to figure out how to lock down a RESTful Web service while making it available for a particular application.
    We are using one of the sample 'emp' table web services that come with Apex 4.2 and are trying to apply Basic Auth to the WEb Service via Weblogic filter defined in the web.xml file. That works fine. I now get challenged when I try to go to :
    https://wlogic.edu/apex/bnr/ace/hr/empinfo/
    And when I authenticate to that challenge I am able to get the data. (we are usiing LDAP authentication at the Weblogic level)
    However, I am not sure how to get same basic authentication to work with the Web Service reference in my application. I see the error message in the application when I try to call that Web Service:
    401--Unauthorized<
    And I see:
    "The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials"
    How do I provide the credentials in the Web REference or do I provide credentials in the Application?
    Web service works fine if I remove the RESTful web service basic auth from the Web.xml file.
    Should we NOT use Weblogic basic auth and instead use basic auth from Workspace RESTful web service definition. If so, how do we implement THAT basic auth in the Web Service definition and in the Web SErvice Reference on the application?
    Thanks,
    Pat

    What I mean is diid you try to use the PL/SQL package for APEX webservice. Here is an example I use (modified and shortened, just to show how much better this is than to use it from the application).

  • Data Tracking with Scheduled Webis

    Using XI R3
    Is this a true statement:  "Data tracking will not work with scheduled webi documents or webi documents in scheduled publications because the scheduling process does not 'save' a document that it can then use as a reference for the next  iteration"?
    If I  refresh the documents manually daily with tracking on and save them, then schedule the publication after that with the  'refresh on open' property turned off in the publication, that seems to be the only way to accomplish it.
    My publication, by the way, produces pdf versions of the webis distributed vai email.
    This requirement to manually run the webi documents every day really defeats the whole advantage of scheduling.

    Hi Stephen.
    Lets understand why data tracking requires a "save report".
    When data tracking is enabled. current version of report output is compared with immediate previous version of report output. Also data tracking requires report to run and saved as HTML format. It does not work in PDF format.
    In case of scheduled report, it will not work as report instance is not saved.  However if you enable "Automatic Data Tracking" it seems to be possible.
    I would suggest reading "Data tracking modes" Part from webi user guide. You shall get all your ans.
