Minimum oracle 8.0.6 libraries

Hi,
I have and dynamically linked a C++ application with OCI. The
app is trying to connect to a remote database. What is the
minimum set of oracle 8 libraries reuqired in order for the
application to run?
Thanks
Osman

I have what would probably be considered an
"average" OCI8 application, but it is using
Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 on Solaris, not HP-UX. The
only library I need to link is libclntsh.so
in /u01/app/oracle/product/release/lib. Hope
this is at least a starting point. -Ralph

  • Oracle 9i client C libraries / include files??

OK, so I download the full 3 disk set for the 9i database (9.2.0.1.0), and install the full client stuff (9i Client from the "available products" list), but I STILL can't get the perl DBD::Oracle module to compile due to missing client files.
One message I found searching the forums (and google) mentioned that I needed to install the "programmer" option. The only options I see are "Administrator", "runtime", and "custom". I've tried them all. It LOOKS like "runtime" weould be the right option, but it's not. It claims that it has tools for developing applications.
Does Oracle have just a client CD without all the other crap on it? Just where are the correct files hiding anyway?
(BTW, the java-based installer is HORRIBLY slow, even on a very high-end machine. I MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer a text based installer. Please, Oracle, bring back some sanity...)

Well, after more searching, I found some people that claimed that you needed to install the entire thing (database and all.)
This STILL has missing files. oracle.mk for example.
Does anyone have just the files needed? This is just silly. I REALLY don't want to go through that horrible Java-based GUI installer again.

    Hi all,
I installed JDeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0 along with the correct WebCenter extensions (http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/156082.xml).
Everytime i open the JDeveloper i got the following error on extesions tabs:

When i try to run a simple project i got a java.lang.nullpointerException on ADF

Can those errors be related? How do i resolve this?

I think that those err depend each other because when i log in in my app NullPointer Excep raise.

  • Oracle Client Libraries

Where can I get the client libraries I need for Oracle 8.1.7 for a RedHat 7.2 Apache/PHP 4.2.2 Installation

Is it possible to use the JDBC 2.0 drivers for BEA Weblogic server without installing any of the Oracle client libraries. In the documentation. If it is does this mean that Oracle client licenses are required for the web server ??Our Oracle driver is based on the Oracle client libraries, and the Oracle infrastructure, such as the tnsnames.ora
file, and the Oracle error message files in the Oracle client installation. I do not know how/whether Oracle licenses
it's client libraries. However, the Oracle thin (all Java) driver is useable anywhere, with nothing extra to install. It is
also more reliable than any driver based on Oracle's native client libraries. I recommend you use it.

  • Are Oracle spatial java libraries redistributable?

    Hi,
Do you have any idea about Oracle's policy on distributing Oracle Spatial Java Class Libraries? Can our software that is targeted for commercial purpose distribute it?
We are using these SDO java libraries.
    oracle_sdo.jar
    sdoapi.jar
    sdogr.jar
    sdonm.jar
    sdotopo.jar
    sdoutl.jar
Also if redistribution is not allowed, can our users having Oracle DB license, copy these libraries from their Oracle DB machine to the machine where our product is installed.
Please guide us to appropriate web link on this topic. We could not get clear information by going through Oracle sites.
    Thanks in advance,
    Subrahmanyam.

    Go to: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/spatial/index.html
Then click one of the downloads and you get the "Oracle Technology Network Development and Distribution License Terms". The second box covers the distribution license.
I'm sure that its covered in there .... Lots of Legal Mumbo-Jumbo ...... But it contains this line:
"You may also distribute the programs with your applications to your customers."
So it looks like "Yes" is the answer to your question !

You need the files sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora. I think the
sqlnet layer looks for them in /etc initially, or possibly
/var/opt/oracle, but setting the environment variable
    "TNS_ADMIN" will override this.
If you want to link the stuff dynamically, then run ldd against
a dynamically linked executable, copy across the libraries you
need to the client, ensure that LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes the
library directory, and that TNS_ADMIN points to a functional
pair of sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files. (Ie, you need a
stanza in the tnsnames.ora file that points across to the
    instance on the server).
Or something like that. It's not very neat and Oracle support
would have a heart attack. Unless you are running several client
processes simultaneously static linking may be simpler.

Can someone please tell me that if I remove the inherited default oracle XML parser using remove-inherited tag in orion-application.xml, how do I make the JPDK use my own packaged xerces XML parser.

Oracle needs some "compatibility libraries" as well (compat-lib*). Here are packages for AS 10g, most or all of which apply to Database too.
    Checking operating system packages: gcc-3.2.3-20,compat-gcc-7.3-2.96.122,compat-gcc-c++-7.3-2.96.122,compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.122,compat-libstdc++-devel-7.3-2.96.122,setarch-1.3-1,pdksh-5.2.14,sysstat-4.0.7,gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-34.1,libstdc++-3.2.3,compat-libstdc++-devel-7.3-2.96.122,compat-glibc-7.x-2.2.4.32.5
When required packages are in place, there's another error lurking, related to __libc_wait symbol.
runInstaller "boots" OUI, which includes running a JRE from tmp. This JRE (build 02) is broken, but you can setup to run another one via oraparam.ini and JRE_LOCATION. Download build 10 from Sun (google "jre 1.3.1 download").

  • Oracle 8.0.6.1.0 and PHP 5.2.17

    Hi all
I need help, I've this enviroment:
    Dedicated Server:
Oracle Version: 8.0.6.1.0 OS: UNIXware 6
    Web Server (Windows 7):
    Oracle Client Version: 9.2
Oracle Instant Client: 10.1.0.5 (OCI Version: 1.2.5 Rev: 293036)
    Apache 2.2
    PHP 5.2.17 (OCI library uncommented)
I can see the oci library enabled in phpinfo, but when I test my connection I got:
*Warning: oci_connect() [function.oci-connect]:* ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported. in C:\Apache\htdocs\reportes\cinco.php on line 3
Fatal error: ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported. in C:\Apache\htdocs\reportes\cinco.php on line 6
The connection script that I used:

    +$conn = oci_connect('DBuser', 'DBpass', $dbstr);+
    +if (!$conn) {+
    +$e = oci_error();+
    trigger_error(htmlentities($e['message'], ENT_QUOTES), E_USER_ERROR);
    +}+
    +?>+
Please help me, bacause I'm so frustrated about it, I changed the instantclient version (10.1.05, 10.2.03, 10.2.0.4, 10.2.0.5, 11.1.0.6.0, ... 11.2.0.2.0) and the same error. Any idea for my case?
Note: I can get a connection just using the client 9i, I mean with Toad or Telnet. (tnsping is OK )

Looking down the 8.0.6 column of the support interoperability matrix,
the rows for Oracle clients 10.1 and higher are red "Not supported"
status. They reference note #3 "An ORA-3134 error is correctly
reported when attempting to connect to this version." This is what
    you are seeing.
The Oracle 9.2 client row has purple "was supported" status meaning
that it should technically work, but calling Oracle Support for help
    isn't possible.
The PHP Windows team releases php_oci8.dll built with Oracle 10.2
client libraries. You need to build PHP so it compiles and links with
an Oracle 9.2 client, similar to this:
    export ORACLE_HOME=/path/to/my/9.2/oracle/home
    ./configure --with-oci8=$ORACLE_HOME ...
    make
    make install
    Windows instructions are at: https://wiki.php.net/internals/windows/stepbystepbuild
    I've never tested this combination.
Overall, I'd step back and see if you have other options, such as
    upgrading the Database.

  • Help me to add some libraries for WebLogic Portal project

My Web portal project (10.3.2) that was created with Oracle Enterprise pack for Eclipse with some custom configurations:
    - Beehive controls
    - Beehive netUI
    - Struts 1.2
    - WebLogic Control Extension 10.2
    - full feature for "WebLogic portal"
    - "Portal application controld 10.3.2" and "Portal framework beehive adapter" support in WebLogic Portal (optional)
I need these packages to process some user and group informations:
    - com.bea.p13n.controls.ejb.usermgmt
    - com.bea.p13n.controls.userInfoQuery
    - com.bea.portal.tools.security.group
    - com.bea.portal.tools.security.user
My problem is impossible to import these package (except: com.bea.p13n.controls.ejb.usermgmt). I've read carefully API Javadoc for these package informations but it cannot help anymore.
Anybody can tell me what libraries should be added to project to solve my problem ?
    Thank in advance.
    Ps:
This is my screenshot for project configuration:
    http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll10/docphongm41/screenshot/screenshot.png

    Thank Kevin.
I've fix my problem by adding some jar files, such as war-classes.jar which can be found in workspace/.metadata/.plugin/oracle.eclipse.tools.weblogic/libraries/wlp-tools-ugm-web-lib_10.3.2_10.3.2/1/WEB-INF/lib
So, I can use UserID class in my source code without any error notification on Eclipse. Everything sound to be okay, but it isnt. When I initialize an UserID object in my pageflow controller class like this:
    UserID uid = new UserID("::security:user");
String uname = uid.getUserName();I'll get an exception:
com.bea.netuix.nf.UIControlException: com.bea.portlet.adapter.scopedcontent.ActionLookupFailedException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/bea/portal/tools/security/user/UserIDI don't know why JVM cannot found my imported class though I've already added library and imported this class to the source.

  • How to create new OC4J instance in AS 10.1.3 with BC4J- and ADF-Libraries

    Hi
I have done all the steps mentioned in this thread:
How to create new OC4J instance in AS 10.1.3
However, the new created OC4J instance obviously misses some libraries. If I deploy my Application to this OC4J I get an internal error: Class not found: oracle.jbo.JboException.
The same Application runs well in the "home" Instance.
What is the trick, to create a new OC4J instance, which more or less behaves the same way as the "home" instances (and especially has all the same libraries)?
    Thanks for your help
    Frank Brandstetter

I encountered this last month. I definitely agree that it is a glaring omission to not have "Create Like" functionality when instantiating new containers. Here's my notes on the manual steps required after using createinstance to create the fresh container. Not too bad. I've been deploying ADF applications to the new container with no problems after this.
    ==============
The default (home) OC4J container is pre-configured for ADF 10.1.3 applications; however, when $ORACLE_HOME/bin/createinstance is used to create additional containers, these containers are not configured automatically to host ADF 10.1.3 applications.
    I followed these manual steps:
    1. $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/server.xml defines three shared libraries that "install" the needed JARs for Oracle ADF applications in your application server instance (container). Note that "install" does not necessarily mean available to applications (see Step 2). Copy the three shared library element definitions to the <application-server> element of your new container (in server.xml).

    2. To make the necessary ADF and JSF support libraries available to your deployed ADF application, the default application (that your ADF application and the majority of applications should inherit from) should explicitly import the shared library in the <orion-application> element of $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/<your container>/config/application.xml.
    <imported-shared-libraries>
         <import-shared-library name="adf.oracle.domain"/>
    </imported-shared-libraries>
Note: the adf.oracle.domain shared library imports several other shared libraries including oracle.expression-evaluator.

  • ORACLE 10 INSTANT CLIENT:The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not...

    The problem still remain:
I've installed oracle 10g instant client
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Wed Jan 10 12:43:40 20
    PHP VERSION: php-5.2.0 for Win32
    APACHE VERSION: apache_2.0.59 for WIN32
But I've the same old error when I try to restart Apache:
The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not be located in the dinamic link library OCI.dll
Is there anyone who can help me to solve this kind of problem?
    Thanks in advance.

The solution is that you need to have Oracle 10g client side libraries
installed (or you have to recompile PHP yourself). The oci8 extension
has some version dependent code and the person who builds Windows PHP
builds it with the latest version of Oracle. I was discussing the
impact of this just this week.
Luckily Oracle Instant Client can be downloaded and used for free from
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html
