Missing configtool.bat

Hello all...
I am currently in the middle of a Solman install, and am running into an out of memory error:

I understand that I need to increase the heap size to 2GB, but can't find the configtool.bat file anywhere.  I thought it was installed during the install, but could be wrong.
Is there a parameter file that needs to be changed, software that needs to be added, etc.?  We are installing on LINUX (X86_64bit) with oracle.  The solman version is 4.0 SP3 and java is 1.5.0.
I am completely stuck pending this little hump...your help is greatly, and I do mean GREATLY appreciated!!!!

    Hi @all,
My Java engine has stopped.I am also not able to run the configtool.bat...below is the error that i get.
Error occurred during initialization of VM

Can you please help me with this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pranav

    Hi Pranav,
There seems to be some problem with JAVA package. Did you by chance uninstall or do any modification to system variables on the server.
Check the JAVA_HOME and path for correct java path.
configtool.bat internally uses JAVA_HOME system variable to initialize JAVA VM..
Also, you have to change the JAVA path using offline config tool for J2ee engine to startup, if at all your java path has changed, which seems like in this situation.
If not, please send me the log files from the path
    <DRIVE>:\usr\sap\<SID><instance><instance no.>\work
So that we can have a deeper look at the issue.

  • Missing xlStartServer.bat file from Xellerate\bin folder in OIM 9.1.0.1

I have installed OIM9.1.0.1 with JBoss 4.2.3 as application server and Oracle10g as database on Windows 2003 Server m/c.
The installation process was successful and no error occurred in due course.
And now to start OIM, I need to run the xlStartServer.bat from <OIM_HOME>/xellerate/bin.
The problem is that this server start up file is missing in that folder.
I tried installing with a differnt copy of installables as well, but the problem is still there.
Could you please provide any pointers regarding this issue.

I had tried starting the Jboss server and then starting the OIM.
But although Jboss started successfully, for starting OIM server console, i had typed http:\\localhost:8080\xlWebpp ,
but it could not find the application xlWebApp.

since all it runs is a java runtime environment id guess it cannot find the java.exe.  You might want to check your JAVA_HOME environment variable setting on the server.

Since you have your admin on some different machine, you need to enroll this SM with admin..
For that you need to run enroll.bat from the location C:\Oracle\Middleware\weblogic1032\ales32-shared\bin
you can use the following command to do that
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\weblogic1032\ales32-shared\bin>enroll.bat demo
this will ask you for your admin credentials..After enrolling your SM with admin..run asipassword.bat from the same folder this will encrypt your admin credentials and store it in the password.xml file
After that try to run the config tool
    Hope this helps..

  • System Configurator Shortcuts Missing

Just went through installing the Essbase 32bit Client and the EAS 32bit Client on Win 7 64bit OS using Excel 2007. However now when I navigate to Oracle EPM System configurator it says it's missing the 'configtool.bat' file. Where could it have gone? I just re-installed it successfully. Wouldn't it recreate this path and files once I reinstall?

This all may be down to use you using windows 7 64bit.

  • Unable to change the parameter value in the configtool

    Hi All,
    Error
In the Configtool I have changed the custom value to u2018TRUEu2019 of the key u201Cume.superadmin.activatedu201D under Cluster-data -> instance -> server -> services -> com.sap.security.caore.ume.service. Now I am trying to change the value again to u2018FALSEu2019 but the value is not getting updated even after the server is restarted OS level. Please advise.
    System details:
    SAP: PI 7.0
    DB:   MS SQL 2000
    OS:   Windows 2003 server
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Dinesh

    Hi Dinesh,
There are a variety of reasons why this is not getting reflected :
    1) When you make changes if you use an AS ABAP or LDAP directory as the data source. The default values of the UME properties assume the database of the AS Java as the data source. This requires you to reconfigure the data source before you can restart the AS Java.
    2) The cluster nodes have not been restarted after the changes
    3) Changes apart from global configuration have also been made elsewhere.
4)properties as described in Editing UME Properties.
    Editing UME Setting:
    a) Start the Config Tool by executing
    \j2
    ee\configtool\configtool.bat.
    b) In the tree, navigate to Global server
    configuration services com.sap.security.core.ume.
    service.
The list of UME properties appears.

    Hi,
    See note: 535532
Mid way through the note it says:
You can then register the SAP J2EE Engine as a windows-service by using the SAP J2EE Engine Config Tool. Open a command prompt and change to the directory <J2EE Engine installation directory>configtool and run configtool.bat or start this tool via your Start-Menu "Tools->Config Tool" of the J2EE Server entry. Select at the left navigation area of this tool the entry "cluster/ server" the checkbox "Enabled" at the tabstrip "NT Service". Apply these settings by clicking on "File->Apply" at the menu. Do the same with the entry "cluster / dispatcher".
After you have finished these steps you can register now the J2EE Engine as a windows service.
Start service.exe, which is also located in the directory
<J2EE Engine installation directory>configtool. It works with three
    parameters:
Service.exe u2013install u2013 the service(s) is (are) registered as NT/2000 Service(s). For each specified cluster node, a separate service is generated. All services have startup mode automatic. To start the service(s), open the Control Panel ¨Services folder. Find the service in the list of available services (for example: SAP J2EE Server 1, SAP J2EE Dispatcher 1, SAP J2EE Server 2, and so on). Select it, and choose u201CStartu201D on the right-hand side. No u201CStartup Parametersu201D are needed for the service to run. The system starts the particular J2EE Engine 6.20 node in background mode. It can be used and administered as usual. The only difference is that the server does not run in a console window.
There may be other notes along these lines.
You should also check any notes on the setup of SAP in MSCS cluster, as it will contain instructions for registering the services.
Hope this gives you a pointer in the right direction.

  • We encountered a problem during use the Configtool access JAVA engine.

We encountered a problem during use the Configtool access JAVA engine.
Our environment of system as below:
    HardWard: IBM i570
    OS: IBM as/400 V5E3
    DB: DB2/400
    Application system:SAP XI 3.0
The problem we encountered as below:
Our company used XI 3.0 SR1 for exchange data between SAP R/3 and no-sap system. For now,we wanna create a backup system(for
offline recovery),so we backup the XI product system throught entiry system save in AS/400(we stopped the XI system before
save process start). And following,we restored from the tape that we save from XI product system to the new backup system(they
are whole different paratition),but the problem is coming.Describe as following item:
    1. The application seem to can be started but the java node always restart circularly(We have 4 java node now),I think
because of different of hardware configure(between XI product and Backup system) and lack of hardware resource.(XI prduction
have 5 CPUs and 22G Mem,Backup system have 2 CPUs and 16G MEM ).Therefore we wanna decrease the number of java nodes for
start application in backup system(throught configtool).
    2. We wanna use configtool to decrease the java nodes for start backup system. But we encountered a problem during running the
configtool ,the information of prompt dialog as following:
Error occurred while working with Configuration (Scanning).
    Msg:Error while connecting to DB.
We also see the system.log that below the directory of usr\sap\PXI\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\configtool,and found some error as

    Thanks
