Missing controls (skin) on playback

When trying to play back a Flash video from my root
directory, the skin controls are missing. I do have the flv, swf,
skin and .js files all in one subdirectory (example:
/av/Hill_Hearn_Bonnie.swf, and the html in the root directory. The
original html was transferred from my computer to the server. I
have tried going all the way back to the flv file and making
another swf without any luck. In fact then the movie doesn't play.
In the current file the movie does play perfectly, but no controls.
I'd sure appreciate any insights on the topic. Here's the url to my
html file:
http://www.authorlink.com/interview_templ_video.html
Additional question: Does the .js have to reside int he same
directory, and can the skin and .js files be common to several
files in the same directory. Sorry, I'm a newbie.

Here's how I solved my problem. I hope this will help other
beginners and hopefully someone will give me feedback if this is a
good and/or correct way to go about this. I certainly don't want to
give out bad info...
File/New/flash document
Import file to stage
Opens window: select video
I selected a file on my computer
progressive streaming
clearoverplayseekmute.swf
Finish
Control
Enable simple buttons
Enable simple frame actions (Though I'm not quite sure what
that does)
Publish settings
Publish
I uploaded the .swf, the .html and the .flv
Now it has settings for start/stop and mute. I still haven't
gotten it to go back to the beginning when it finishes and to get
it to go to full screen but I'm very encouraged.

  • Volume control for video playback through Apple TV2

    I am trying to configure the volume settings used on airplay through apple TV2 and a macbook pro and Iphone4 all with most recent updates.
    I am using the apple remote app on my iphone to control the apple tv.
    Whats working:
    Using the pandora app on my iphone through aiplay to the apple tv, I can control the volume using the plus and minus buttons on the side of the iphone for volume control. Very cool and easy.
    Using the apple remote app on my iphone I can control the itunes volume of different speakers by clicking on the airplay icon and using a slider.  Not as cool as using the hard +/- buttons but still works.
    Whats not working:
    Controling volume on appleTV2 through the iphone remote app for video playbacks like netflix, and youtube.
    Why I want this: RIght now I can control most of the multimedia right from my iphone including cranking the music up:) But when I switch over to video(Netlfix, Youtube) I have to get out another remote (stereo reciever) to control the volume. It seems we are so close to being able to control everything off the iphone, the only thing missing is volume control for video playback.
    Is there a setting that can be changed or a solution I havent found?
    Thanks

    Same problem with TV3. HDMI volume output is not adjustable, neither with the original Apple remote nor with any universal. Why ? Every simple settop-box is able to be volume adjusted. And a Mac Mini too ?!!!
    I use a flatscreen TV. it has 3 HDMI inputs and one optical out for the audio going to an amp standing behind it. The sound of the TV is switched to go to the optical out.
    HDMI 1 is connected to the satellite settop box with its  own remote control ( channel +/-, volume +/- etc. ) it work s fine.
    HDMI 2 is connected to the MacMini HDMI out with its own remote control ( channel/music +/-, volume +/- ) it works fine too.
    HDMI 3 was connected to Apple TV3 with its own remote control ( channel/music +/- but no volume ). I sent the TV3 back to Apple.
    What's going wrong in the mind of Apple ? Why is the HDMI volume output of the MacMini adjustable with the Apple remote, and the TV3 not ?
    I want not to discuss, wether a 4th remote control is useful or not. I don't want it. I want to adjust the volume with the originl remote control of the specific unit I use, because I need it anyway. It worked since years, but not with Apple TV3.
    How can we help Apple to open the volume +/- function on their own remote control ?

  • Aperture video missing red channel on playback

    Aperture video missing red channel on playback.  Also some pictures appear to have missing pixels.
    Video played with Quicktime doesnt have the missing red channel.
    When trying to playback video,in aperture, it plays with missing frames, missing pixels and the crashes entire computer. My computer is a Mac Pro desktop with 24 gb memory with 3.33 ghz 6-core processor running Version 10.9.2 and Aperture 3.5.1
    Any suggestions on my problem?
    thanks
    Pat

    Never had anything before crash the whole system since OS8 or so.
    Back up your system, without deleting older backups - just in case; that looks like a possible system trouble.
    Also they some have been in Aperture for a while and they used to be OK.
    Do the videos play in QuickTime Player or any other software, if you export or reveal the originals?
    Can you play your videos, when signed into another user account?

  • Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?

    Does iTunes have any hidden picture controls for video playback (e.g. contrast, brightness) ?
    I haven’t been able to find any.
    Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

    Thanks for the rapid response to my enquiry.
    I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
    Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
    Regarding QuickTime.
    Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
    I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
    I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
    The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.
    Back to DVDs.

  • How to embed Flash video and control skin using HTML?

    I am trying to use HTML to embed a flash video, however I encounter the following errors:
    Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="
    Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: SkinOverPlaySeekStop.swf"]
    Here is my HTML code:

         <embed src="Content/example.swf" width="640" height="480" play="false" loop="false" quality="high"></embed>
    </OBJECT>
    Whenever I open the page I'll get a popup window with the above errors and once I click "continue" it will go ahead and play the video, but without the control skin.  Can anyone tell me how to get the skin to show up?

    I found a solution at this thread.  Basically, you just have to move your skin file (ie. SkinOverPlayStopSeekMuteVol.swf) to the same directory as your index.html file.
    doghouseJim, thanks for the link.  Although I didn't have to use swfobject in this case it is still good to know.  Also, I didn't know that Flash can generate the HTML.  This is a quick and easy way to see the video in a web browser and if you're using Firefox you can go to View > Page Source to see the code.  If you just want to see the HTML, then all you have to do is go to File > Publish Preview > HTML and it will open a web browser where you can view the page source.

  • Flash control skin does not show in Golive

    Mac OS 10.4.11 GoLive CS (1)  - I have a flash file (.flv) that works well - see initial test without an applied skin - http://www.artdesign.org.uk/test - but with a couple of problems for the actual replacement intended for the correct site.
    Problem 1. The controls skin I attached to the yell_video.flv when converting to a yell_video.swf in Adobe Flash program does not show in Golive, as the actual video does not show either I assume this is normal. I have the 3 files sitting in the 'web content/graphics' folder on the site - yell_video.flv - yell_video.swf - SkinUnderAll.swf - but can not see a means of 'attaching' the skin file to any field in the Inspector Palette. When I run it in a browser the error message comes up, with a dismiss or continue option, click either and the video plays fine but without the skin.
    Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: SkinUnderAll.swf"]
    Problem 2. When the site is first encountered as a user there is a momentary white box where the flash yell_video.swf sits. I have made sure that when converting the .flv file in the Flash program I made the background the exactly same colour as the web page it sits on. The white is then momentarily followed by the blue colour that is not quite the same as the page background I stipulated.

    After much messing around I have found a solution to one of my own problems.
    The SkinUnderPlayStopSeekMuteVol.swf file generated from the exporting of the Flash yell_video.swf from the yell_video.flv file should sit in the same folder as the html page the video has been inserted in. In my case I had all 3 files in a folder entitled 'graphics' which is what caused the problem.
    I still have a problem with the momentary white box where the flash yell_video.swf sits when first opening the site.

  • Controls, Skins, CSS and Custom "psuedoclass" (beyond :hover, :pressed...)

    Hi All,
    If you haven't experienced control skinning via css, read about it here: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5357325&tstart=0 (thanks to tamerkarakan).
    Turns out Control has some stateful information stored in it such as hover, pressed, focused. When these are TRUE you can associated a style with that stateful presence of your Control.
    The CSS to turn MyControl from RED to GREEN when hover is (programaticaly) set to true would look something like:
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl" {
    fill: RED;
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":hover {
    fill: GREEN;
    }What I would like to know is can I add my own "hover" equivalent? If I create a control that has stateful setting of "state"="Low:Medium:High" and I want these represented in the CSS by "Yellow, Orange, Red" how can this be done? Ideally all styling logic should be outside the control in JavaFX CSS. What I would really like to see from a CSS perspective is this....
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl" {
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":state=low {
    fill: YELLOW;
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":state=med {
    fill: ORANGE;
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":state=high {
    fill: RED;
    }Can this be done?
    Cheers

    Thanks topley, that's what the fan's want alright.
    According to that I need...
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":${state == LOW} {
    fill: YELLOW;
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":${state == MED} {
    fill: ORAGE;
    "com.myjavafxapp.control.MyControl":${state == HIGH} {
    fill: RED;
    }But this css syntax is NOT supported in JavaFX :'( and neither is :state==High or :state=High eta. I tried adding state as a boolean and just :state {} but this gives the following exception....
    com.sun.stylesheet.UnsupportedPropertyException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: state
    at com.sun.stylesheet.javafx.FXObjectStyleSupport.addPseudoclassListener(FXObjectStyleSupport.java:430)
    at com.sun.stylesheet.styleable.DefaultStyleable.addPseudoclassListener(DefaultStyleable.java:184)
    at com.sun.stylesheet.PropertyManager.addPseudoclassListener(PropertyManager.java:447)
    at com.sun.stylesheet.Rule.applyTo(Rule.java:226)
    at com.sun.stylesheet.Stylesheet.applyTo(Stylesheet.java:277)
    at com.sun.stylesheet.Stylesheet.applyTo(Stylesheet.java:282)
    at com.sun.stylesheet.Stylesheet.applyTo(Stylesheet.java:257)
    at javafx.scene.Scene.applyStylesheets$impl(Scene.fx:235)
    at javafx.scene.Scene.applyStylesheets(Scene.fx:43)
    at javafx.scene.Scene.userInit$(Scene.fx:220)
    at javafx.scene.Scene.initialize$(Scene.fx:43)
    Things would probably be a little easier for me to work out if I could look at the source of Control and determine how hover, pressed and focused are implemented... even if I am limited to just discrete Boolean values for now.

  • How to adjust klick area of buttons in video playback control skins?

    Hello,
    I am far from a heavy flash user (yet), and try to figure some really basic things:
    I've adjusted the SkinOverPlayStopSeekMuteVol_ skin (under a new name, of course) that comes with Flash CS4 in the FLVPlaybackSkins/ActionScript 3.0.
    I've already put up some clients videos on a website but am not satisfied with the surrounding click area of the buttons
    (in my case make them far larger so the user doesn't have to hit the exact small shown area)
    Some buttons or bars come with certain Hit/Click areas that I can adjust by e.g. simply resizing their graphic.
    Other buttons like the play button movie clip don't seem to have such.
    Where ist and how can I adjust their click area that surrounds them?
    Another question:
    when I select/edit e.g. the play button disabled apart from the icon I do also have a button in my timeline/on stage which only displays with a littel cross and a circle. what are these exactly? and how can I control them/what can I control with them. it looks like that invisible click area I am looking for but I have no clue how to control them, what the rules are when moving them around (the blue border around the buttons changes when I move the around, but what are the rules/controls really)
    can anybody help me please?
    thanks,
    beatrice

    You can have too little or too much light on the backdrop. It can be a fine line when shooting high key video.
    Standing far enough away from the background is important. You do not want the light that is shining on the background to also shine on you. Also, you can use flags to keep the lights themselves from being seen in the camera. I would use a 4'X8' styrofoam board on each side to block the lights. Paint one side black, or cheat and cover it with black fabric. That way one side is a great reflector and the other sucks up the light.
    So, now that you are farther away, you light yourself with the standard three light setup, Key, Fill and Hair. Just keep in mind that you do not want to be lit as bright as the background is. Keep it a stop or two below the background for starters.
    So if you set your exposure for your face, then the background will be blown out. It may take some adjustment to get just the right amount of blown out. Too much light on the background still causes some to bounce back on you regardless, and it confuses the camera.

  • How to control the video playback function on ipad?

    Hi there,
    I am creating a project containing video content that will be delivered on an ipad. I would like my video to behave like many other videos do on ipad publications:
    1. I want the poster frame of the video to appear small on the page before it is clicked
    2. When the poster frame for the video is clicked, I would like the video to expand to full screen using iOS's built in video capabilities
    3. The user can then press "Done" to exit full screen mode back to the page that displays the small poster frame of the video
    I have placed my video (an mp4 file) inside a small frame and set the Media panel options to:
    -Play on page load (unchecked)
    -Loop (unchecked)
    -Poster (from image)
    -Controller (SkinOverPlaySeekFullScreen)
    -Show controller on Rollover (Checked)
    However, when I publish to ipad my video behaves as follows:
    1. The poster frame appears small before it is clicked
    2. When the video is clicked it opens to the full video size (not full screen), however it operlaps the text layout rather than creating a black background to mask the content while the video plays
    3. The video skin does not allow the user to navigate out of full screen mode back to the original layout of the page
    Also, no matter what video skin I choose it doesn't seem to change the skin. The skin is always the same, including a mute and play/pause button and no other user controls.
    How do I create a skin that allows me to leverage the iOS video playback capabilities?

    I can almost see a big grin appearing in Bob's avatar...
    Hopefully his reply has given you a clue already?
    If not, some explanation:
    Many settings in the standard "Media" panel (for both video and audio) don't apply for publications that need to go the Folio-way. This panel is mainly concerned with lovely Flash stuff, but apart from the Poster frame and the Markers, it is useless for Folio's.
    A quick guide: create a video with the necessary codec (H.264 for video, MP# or AAC for audio) at the required pixel size (exact width/height). Simply Place the file in InDesign, but don't scale it (or recreate and place a properly sized new video afterwards). Choose what to do with the Poster frame (and maybe some Markers), but all other settings are done in the Overlay Creator.
    Check Bob Bringhurst's Tutorials and his DPS Tips app for more info. But I guess you get the idea now.

  • Flash Media Player- missing controls

    I am using the flash media player.  When I publish the file, the controls seem to be missing from the player.  I have the skin.swf file uploaded with the player....but it appears missing?
    Could something else be causing this?

    Reguardless of what is "encoded" into Shockwave Flash streaming player the fact that the settings default back to accept update notifications, allow peer to peer sharing, and storage settings still exist since the last several program updates.
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l
    All programs have been updated, re-installed to all current versions. Checked everyday the player will reset anywhere from one to five days from being set. I also check before and after any utilities run on my systems to verify the change is not caused by any resident commands or software. Yes this happens on different computers and OS.
    I run all maintenance and security manually, including updates of any kind.

  • Embedded flvPlayBack component missing controls

    I have a flvPlayback component in this url  as you can see the controls are at the bottom so you can pause/play, adjust volune, etc.
    I've embedded the first url in a post at this site  everything works fine there except the control bar is missing.  Any ideas?

    That's odd I don't get an error message and I have the debug version of Flash player.  Anyway I removed the skin from the wordpress site because the video would just go black when it was present.  I think I'll just uploas everything to the WP site.  OR  maybe if I recode the the embedded swf so it uses an absolute address for the skin that would work.

  • Taking external control of flash playback

    Hello: What would be the best way of taking control
    (remotely) of the playback of a flash video/slideshow? I can write
    an application that can export a .html file to my server with
    timecodes, and then as the user plays the flash annimation from my

  • Need to remove flash movie controls ( skin )

    using Dreamweaver 8 - have imported an flv file into a
    standard html page and it all works great when I publish - my
    problem is DW 8 is making me choose a skin and the skins controls (
    play RW, FF, ect..) semi transparent as they are, are directly over
    some text of the movie. How do I tell DW I do not want a skin or
    that I do not want any controls?

    > DW 8 does not provide me a _no skin_ option
    That's the thing. You've identified the problem. Dw doesn't
    offer a no skin
    option for this. It is not an option.
    There is no option when importing an flv into dw to have no
    controls show.
    There isn't a choice to not have controls show if you use dw
    to import an
    flv.
    do you need any other re-wording of the basic fact?
    The message thread is kind of at the point of explaining that
    it's a an
    ex-parrot.
    If you want to ask for this to be included in dreamweaver in
    the future,
    search on the adobe.com for dreamweaver wishlist.
    If you do these operations IN FLASH instead of using the
    Import flv menu
    choice in dreamweaver, you WILL have a way to have no
    controls on the skin.
