Missing cRIO dependencies due to inheritance

Hello,
I use LVOOP on a RT target where following dependencies are missing:
Class A{
  b: class B
In this case, a class C inheriting from B is not among the dependencies, unless C used explicitely.
This can cause to error, for example, if an instance of A is serialized and sent to the target.
It would be safe to add all classes inheriting from B to the dependencies. Instead, LabVIEW ignores these dependencies alltogether.
Is it a bug or a feature? Does LabVIEW support adding such dependencies?
Thanks,
Peter

You mean inheritance is a one-way dependency in the LabVIEW implementation, right? My parents know me, for example  I mean, it doesn't seem to me a global rule in OOP. Am I missing something?
This is true of all OOP implementations I've seen, in several languages. Inheritance is an "Is A" relationship - you can always substitute a child for the parent, but not vice versa. It would be impossible for a parent to know about ALL its children, since they could be added after the parent class is complete, and what good would it be for the parent to know about only some of its children, or to have a dependency on only those that existed prior to some point in time?
Bokor wrote:
Loading the class runtime is not an option in our case, I'm afraid. It's the "Unflatten from String" VI (deserialize), which throws an error if a class that is being deserialized is not loaded.
I wasn't trying to say that you should load the class at runtime, I was trying to explain that it is one reason that parent classes cannot have a dependency on their children. Here's another, somewhat complicated example where someone doesn't want the parent to include child classes automatically: http://lavag.org/topic/16714-class-dependency-linking/

The really strange thing about this is that I'm using LabVIEW 2011SP1, I don't even have LabVIEW 2013 installed, not even the runtime.
Where is the problem? Why is it even complaining about LabVIEW 2013? Has anyone seen this before?

I do have the LabVIEW 2013 discs but didn't install it.

I also checked in MAX > Software and I must have missed it the first time I looked. LabVIEW Run-Time 2013 is listed there after all.
Now I remember installing VISA 5.4 to get rid of a nasty bug. It must have installed the 2013 Run-Time when I did that.

  • NI 9214 FPGA I/O items missing (cRIO-9030 / NI 9144 combo)

I have a new cRIO-9030 and NI 9144 EtherCAT expansion chassis which I have configured and added to an existing LabVIEW project containing a cRIO-9012. When I searched for existing targets and devices, the modules were correctly detected (NI 9237, NI 9263 and NI 9265 on the cRIO-9030, and NI 9214 and NI 9477 on the NI 9144 chassis); however, the I/O items listed for the NI 9214 module show only the 16 thermocouple channels (TC0 through TC15). The four additional channels are not shown (Autozero and CJC0 through CJC2), although they did when the module was previously configured for the cRIO-9012.  Is this a known / compatibility issue with the NI 9144? or is there a configuration option I am missing? Does the terminal block need to be in place on the module for these I/O items to appear?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey CFER,
You are correct only the thermocouple channels are availble through the scan engine. The availabe channels for each module are documented in the compactRIO help. This should be the same for all chassis. Can you double check the 9012 was setup in FPGA mode? Its easy to overlook sometimes.

  • Missed a flight due to Alarm Problem!

I don't know why apple didn't send out any warning messages to users about this issue. Apple really upsets me!

No, January 1st is NOT when the i Phone alarm problem hit -- Apple has known about this problem since it first showed up on iPhones in New Zealand in October. see this Apple Insider report from last November:
"The new support document [<http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3542>]*, published on Wednesday [11/03/10], comes days after Apple made headlines with an iPhone bug that caused repeating alarm clocks to go off late across Europe. The issue occurred because of a change from daylight saving time, and could repeat itself in the U.S. on Sunday when America concludes daylight saving.
Apple's documentation notes that users can resolve the issue by setting the repeat interval on an alarm to "Never." If users reset their alarm every day, the daylight saving bug will not affect them.
The support note says that after daylight saving ends in the U.S. on Nov. 7, users will be able to set their alarms to repeat again. The iOS issue affects the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G, as well as the fourth-, third- and second-generation iPod touch models.
In October, the same bug caused alarm clocks in New Zealand to go off an hour early. Apple said it was aware of the issue and had already developed a software fix, but it has not yet been released.
This week, Apple released the golden master of iOS 4.2, the next software update for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, to developers. Golden master status suggests that the software is finalized and a release to the public is imminent. It's possible that Apple could release the software update before this Sunday, allowing users who update their iPhone to iOS 4.2 to avoid the daylight saving bug."
*Apple Support doc: <http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3542> posted November 3, 2010, which said:
    "Symptoms
In some regions, shortly before or after the daylight saving time (DST) change, repeating alarms created in the Clock app may work incorrectly.
    Products Affected
iPod touch (2nd generation), iPod touch (3rd generation), iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, iPod touch (4th generation), iPhone 3GS
    Resolution
To resolve this behavior for existing alarms, set the repeat interval to Never. You will need to reset these alarms for each day you need them.
After November 7th, 2010, you can set your alarms to repeat again"
NB: This Apple Support doc was posted 11/03/10, and has not been updated since.
But the problem didn't "fix itself" on 11/07/10, after the DST change, and it didn't fix itself today, January 3, 2011 -- Apple's next promised date that the iPhones would "fix themselves," -- as both my daughter in CT, and my son-in-law in KC, KS can attest: their iPhone "wake-up" alarms both went off an hour late, in different time zones.

iPhone alarm clock glitch: Still not working; iOS bug FAIL
By Richi Jennings. January 3, 2011
Despite Apple's promise that it would fix itself by today, the iOS alarm clock glitch is still making pomaceous owners oversleep. iPhone and iPod Touch alarms stubbornly persist in not working due to yet another bug with alarms. In IT Blogwatch, bloggers rub their eyes in disbelief.
    From SkyNews, 01/03/11
An Apple spokeswoman released a statement to Macworld on Jan. 2 saying it was aware of the problem and that the alarm on the £499 ($773) handset would begin functioning normally again Monday.
However, the firm has yet to release a further statement on the problem.

"iPhone Alarms Still Silent On January 3 "Self-Fix" Date"
"Just two days ago, we reported about a frustrating glitch for those using various permutations of iOS 4 on Apple's iPhones—specifically, an annoying bug that was preventing one's mobile alarm from ringing on either day.
"The bug allegedly only affected single alarms set for either January 1 or January 2. According to Apple itself, the company was aware of the issue and was advising users of a crafty workaround—setting recurring alarms for either day, which would bypass the issue for whatever reason. And according to said Apple spokesperson, the bug would allegedly go away on its own come January 3.
    Or so we all thought.
"Reuters is now reporting that some iPhone users are indicating that the alarm issue persists, a claim that's being slowly backed up by affected users' Twitter posts."

"Some iPhone users in Asia and Europe complained of malfunctioning alarms on the first working day of 2011, even after Apple reassured users that its phones' built-in clocks will work from Monday.
"Bloggers, Facebook and Twitter users complained they missed flights or were late to arrive at work, as the alarm built into Apple's iPhone failed to go off for a third straight day for some users."
    BBC: <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12104890> 10/02/11, updated 09:14 ET 01/03/11:
iPhone alarms hit by New Year glitch
Setting New Year single alarms was to no avail
A glitch on Apple's iPhone has stopped its built-in alarm clock going off, leaving many people oversleeping on the first two days of the New Year.
Angry bloggers and tweeters complained that they had been late for work, and were risking missing planes and trains.
Apple has acknowledged the problem and says it will be fixed by 3 January.
The reason has not been given but the glitch appears to affect single alarm settings on the iPhone 4 and earlier models with software updates.
“According to the company, the problem will resolve itself on 3 January, but that is two days late for many people”
    Jonathan Fildes
    BBC Technology reporter
A similar problem hit the iPhone alarm when the clocks went back in November, again causing many users to be late for work or for transport arrangements.
"We're aware of an issue related to non-repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2," Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison said in a statement quoted by Macworld.
"Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3."
    'Two days too late'
"BBC Technology reporter Jonathan Fildes says the problem is embarrassing for Apple, not only because of previous problems that came to light when the clocks changed, but because the company prides itself on the simplicity of use of its products.
"This seems like another simple error, but it cannot afford to have too many before its reputation becomes tarnished, he says.
"Apple should have learnt from that example and seen this one coming, he adds. According to the company, the problem will resolve itself on 3 January, but that is two days late for many people.
"More than 1.7m people around the world had bought iPhone 4 handsets by June 2010, in what was the company's most successful product launch."
    DEAR APPLE DISCUSSION GROUP MODERATORS:
This is not a rant, I'm simply reporting the news regarding the situation with the iPhone Alarm function as it stands this morning, 01/03/11. People claiming that this was a new problem as of 01/01/11 are simply wrong, as your own TS doc <http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3542> of November 03, 2010 clearly attests.
It would certainly be helpful to know the latest Apple timetable for the iPhone alarm problem to "fix itself," or if Apple has managed to come up with any workarounds, other than the third-party alarm clock apps that are available for the iPhone.
    Best of luck.

  • Address Book is missing Notes probably due to syncing

I'm having trouble with notes that I have entered in the Note section of Address Book. Some of my Notes are disappearing entirely for seemingly random contacts. Out of about 2000 contacts the notes for about ten or twenty random contacts disappear forever. This has been happening to me for years using Address Book although I frequently update. I'm guessing that its related to problems synching my Address Book with my iPhone, MobileMe, and iPad. I backup using MobileMe and Time Machine. Any suggestions on how to prevent this persistent problem? Also, is there an easy way to restore just those missing notes from Time Machine without replacing my entire Address Book with an old copy that will almost certainly be inferior because it is not up to date. I can't take the time to go through all 2000 contacts to figure out which ones have missing notes.

Hopefully your computer included the correct install-restore discs and if the
OS was an upgraded version from the original, those discs are there, too.
You can use a demo mode of Pacifist (download from CharlesSoft) and
have it extricate the specific parts of the correct OS X Installer and then
it can install just the missing item(s) from the desktop. This is a bit tricky.
(Should be better than performing an Archive & Install to just get one part.
And the A&I process doesn't require wiping the hard drive, just upgrading.)
    Sometimes the instructions with Pacifist appear to be counter-intuitive;
so if the utility does not work, be sure to recall details of what you did
and try the other possible path. Be sure to repair disk permissions on
the system once you are done; that shouldn't hurt but may help.
If you had a bootable full computer clone on an external hard disk drive,
you could probably just get the Address Book from there. However,
some of the main system parts need to be Installed correctly since a
few other parts get put into places where they aren't really seen.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Import exisiting Maven (multi module) project: Build path missing & maven dependencies not resol

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to the new Eclipse Mars release (and also tried the STS 3.7.0 release). But I'm having trouble with m2e.
I filed the following bugreport for it:
    https:// bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=471576
See also this screenshot, which illustrates the problem:
    http:// imgur.com/Y5ymWvA
Today, out of desperation, I tried the following:
    - Open an old eclipse release (STS 3.5.0) (based upon Eclipse Kepler SR2 (4.3.2))
    - Switch to a new workspace
    - Import multi pom mvn project from svn
    - delete the project from eclipse (not from disk)
    - import the project from the workspace folder as an "existing maven project"
..and the problem (= no build path configured) persists!
Has anyone else experienced the same problem?
    I'm using:
    - maven 3.3.3
    - Java 8u45
There must be something I'm doing wrong here?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Please do not use the maven-eclipse-plugin (mvn.eclipse:eclipse) and m2e simultaneously, they're not very compatible. Instead, when issues happen, clean your project in the m2e way, using the "Maven > Update configuration" context menus on your project(s).

  • How does role inheritance work in GRC

    Hi All,
We are implementing GRC PC 10.0 where we have activated Role inheritance for organization in Maintain Authorization Customization Node in SPRO.
What i understood is by activating the role inheritance for organizations, you can specify that authorizations are to be passed on to lower levels of the organization. However I need to know if inheritance also helps in picking up the recipients while doing planning activity, I have two queries in this regard:
    For eg :
    1) if we have a Control Tester role maintained at subprocess and control level both and if a User is assigned to subprocess for Control tester role then in that case User will be also be mapped to all the control beneath the subprocess for Control tester role due to inheritance concept ..correct? and while planning for that particular control, does user maintained at subprocess level will be picked as a recipient ?
    2) A Control tester gets mapped at the subprocess level. This means that all controls under that subprocess would show this tester as inherited from the subprocess. However, if we do not want the inherited tester to perform the test, and instead map a tester at the control level, the inherited tester still appears. IN this case, will only the tester mapped at the control level receive the work inbox item for the control test (as this overrides the inherited tester), or will the inherited tester also receive it?
    Regards,

The interface only needs loaded if one of its members

    differently on different JVMs).No.

It is not initialized. There is a difference. See section 12 of the JLS.
Assuming the above is true, it appears the following
    is happening
    1. C is loaded because w is accessed from DDs main .
This loading causes w to be echoed and then x to
be echoed since loading the interface initializes the
members which in turn call the echo method (I am
assuming that this only happends when the members are
    not constants).
    2. The main method then echoes the w variable (which
    is w).
Having said this, I would think this code would behave
differently on different JVMs so I am not sure how it
could even be a good theoretical question (unless
this is documented in the JLS).It is in the JLS.
Also, loading the the interface may not really be what
is happening; the initialization code may be in-lined
in the class (this could be tested by printing w twice
in main really strange behaviour).No. It can't inline the initilization of one class in another class.

  • ::    .swf dependencies issues  ::

    Hey everyone,
Let's start from the really basic; I created a flex app that uses google maps. When embedding the .swf file into an HTML I get nothing on the screen- its missing its dependencies. I copied all the generated files to the same relative locations on the server and still no luck.
My question could be: how to 'wrap' all the dependencies in one file?
    Please help.

In your Project properties - Flex Build Path - Library Pat, select your external SWCs and on Linkage type choose Merge Into Code.

  • Isync vs missing sync....

Hi I saw a lot of thread talking about isync, I us the missing sync, Such better working share your internet and for the more it can sync by wifi connexion faster than bluetooth. I really love that app. because it also sync itunes, and allow you (by usb connection) to have your 1GB memory card as an usb drive to drag and drop all your stuff. It perfectly sync with iCal and address book Better tant iSync would never do.
If your are interested in that product go on mark's space web site.
    Bye

You must install the Palm Desktop on your machine if you intend to use either it or iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit to synchronize your contact, event and task data, as both the HotSync Manager and Transport Monitor must be present to launch, supervise and terminate iSync interaction with Palm devices. Install the package that comes bundled on CD-ROM with your device, and not an earlier downloadable package available from Palm.
At that point, you may as well initially synchronize once with the Palm Desktop, copying all of your data to it and effectively creating an archive of your records.
You should then launch iSync, select Enable Palm OS Syncing… from the Devices menu and follow the instructions which appear. Do not choose to Replace the information on your device, but rather - choose to Merge your data with iCal and the Address Book. Make any corrections to your iCal event and task records, and to your Address Book contact records, and back up both sets using the Back up Database and Back up Address Book options in the respective applications.
Your final step should be to install and configure the Missing Sync for Palm OS, choosing to overwrite the contents of your handheld during the first synchronization. Don't skip this critical step, as almost all problems which later may arise when using the Missing Sync are due to avoiding this process.
Once you have made any category or group changes and any other necessary connections to the data on your handheld, synchronize once more to update the truth database, and you're set.
The Missing Sync is vastly more flexible than iSync is, and you'll be glad that you've elected to use it instead of iSync with an advanced (post Treo 600) Palm device like either model you are considering.

  • Bean Inheritance

    Hi,
I have a question about getters/setters on managed beans.
I have two beans that are very similar - they share some properties, but there are some that are different, and have extra properties.
So, I created an abstract class (let's call it MainBean) and then extended it into ActualBean1 and ActualBean2, both of which are Managed Beans correctly referenced in the faces config. Each of the two subclasses defined some of their own properties, but I'd assumed they would inherit the properties from the superclass, as normal for java.
The problem is that for some reason, JSF can only see properties explicitly defined on the two subclasses - the properties on the superclass are not accessible. Is this expected behaviour?
    cheers,
    -=Danny Walker=-

    <quote>
(1)Method name is wrong. It should be getProperty1.
(2)Bean property getter/setter method should be had
    by the bean itself.
So your OtherBean must have getProperty1() method.
    </quote>
    1) method name and member variable name do not have
to be the same. It's the getter that is used to
retrieve the value, not the member value itself. So
as long as the method name matches the call from the
JSP, it should be good.OP has not stated that. Usually, if property name is abc, then
getter method is getAbc(), not getXyz().
    >
    2) OtherBean will have the getPropertyOne() /
    getPropertry1() method by default due to Inheritance;
it doesn't have to be overridden in the sub class.Your are only talking about plain ordinary class. I haven't read
JavaBeans specification in detail yet, though.

  • SGE2010 Missing Ports

    Hi,
I have a number of SGE2010 switches and I would like to configure ports 48 and 24, but I cannot find any reference to them at all in the web interface. The port listings run from g1/1-23 and g1/25-47. I understand that the four SFP ports are shared with ports 23, 24, 47 and 48 and have worked out that 1/23 maps to ge1 and 1/47 to ge2 which is fine. However, I cannot find any way of changing the configuration of 1/24 and 1/48 and I cannot find any reference to them in the documentation. They are running the latest version of firmware and all 18 switches show the same behaviour.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
I recently acquired a similar model, sge2010, and have had the same problem. I think the problem about the missing ports is due to the default settings of the switch. When i did my exploring on the said switch, i found out that the default setting of sge2010 is "Stacking", and that  ports 24 and 48 are in stacking mode.
What you need to do is enter the GUI of the switch and go to System->System Management-> System Information. Scroll to the lower part and click on STANDALONE  for the field "Switch Operation Mode After Reset", then click apply. Reset afterwards and you'll see port 24 and 48.
    Hope this is helpful...=)
    Have a Good one!
