Missing theme for printing

I recently had to do restore a backup version of iPhoto, and now it won't allow me to print. It says that there are no themes installed. Obviously I missed restoring something. What is it and how do I reinstall it?

Does this thread help?

  • Iphoto themes for printing

I'm trying to print a photo from iPhoto 11; it won't let me print giving an error that I must import themes.
Why?! is that? How do I import themes and where do I find these themes?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Missing most of printer icc profiles in cs5

I installed cs5. I have been using many printer profiles in the past. CS5 shows only few, up to Hartman icc paper profiles for my rpinter , but all others are not show in the pull down list. Even if they are in the ...win32/spool/driver/color directory as they have been before...Any suggestions?

I had all these profiles show in my previous photoshop releases and I used them for printing. After I installed CS4, they had a bug with
profiles - I think they messed up permissions in the color folder where icc profiles live. After I upgraded to CS5 , I noticed that some of my profiles are shown in the pull down menu and meny others are not. I had custom proofs set up - and that still works , even for
profiles that are not actually shown in the pull down menu! But, I can't select them for further proofing or printing - which
is very upsetting. Adobe's customer support line has one hour wait. which is really unacceptable - for the money they charge
for their products they need to communicate via e-mail or have faster responses.

Thank you very much for the information.  I hate pressing buttons when I am not sure of what will happen!

  • Creating your own theme-templates for printing?

Can I create my own theme-templates for printing?
    /BonneSwe

No, iTunes printing is quite simple and only works off it's own templates. If you want to customise templates you'd be better advised to look at on of the specialised cover printing programs that are available. DiskLabel is one that springs to mind.

  • Attribute "Report Layout" is missing in the "Print Attributes" tab for IR

    Hallo,
The attribute “Report Layout” is missing in the “Print Attributes” tab for an interactive report?
How to alter the report layout (xsl-fo) of an interactive report?
Has someone any idea where to configure this?
Btw, for the "classic" SQL Report the XSL-FO "Report Layout" can be cahnged in "Print Attributes" and this works fine for me. But I want to change the xsl-fo for the interactive report.
"If you do not select a report layout, a default XSL-FO layout is used. The default XSL-FO layout is always used for rendering Interactive Report regions. ... Unlike classic reports, the Interactive Report Print Attributes can only utilize the default XSL-FO layout and is initiated from the Report Attributes, Download section rather than directly from this screen. Once configured, these attributes only apply only to the current region and cannot be used outside the context of the region."
    http://apex.oracle.com/i/doc/bldapp_rpt_print.htm
How can the "default XSL-FO layout" be changed?
Changing is necessary because the Apache FOP 1.0 reports the following error (for the transmitted default XSL-FO):
    "fo:simple-page-master", "fo:region-body" must be declared before "fo:region-before"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/#fo_region-before
The default report layout is not saved in:
    select * from APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS
    Thx, Willi

I've found two workaround for getting Apache FOP 1.0 to work with Oracle Apex 4.0 for PDF printing of interactive reports:
1, Use an application process to set your custom layout for interactive reports:
    [ ] grant all on APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3 to {YOUR_SCHEMA_NAME};
[ ] Create an Application Process e.g. "Custom Report Layout" with constraint for request 'PDF' and Process Text:
    declare
    v_xsl varchar2(32767);
    begin
    v_xsl := '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''utf-8''?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
      <fo:region-body region-name="region-body" margin-top="54.0pt" margin-bottom="54.0pt"/>
      <fo:region-before region-name="region-header" extent="54.0pt"/>
    </xsl:stylesheet>';
    APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3.g_prn_template := v_xsl;
end;2, If you have some knowlege in Java change the sequnce of the the nodes in the apex_fop.jsp (or servlet), ie. changing the xsl before you use it for transformation.
The code depends on the solution you are using to parse the xsl string.
    Hope this may help someone,
    Willi

Easiest way is to transfer the photos to your computer. Then copy them to your ad card. You should be backing up all your photos on your computer anyway. Having them only on your iPad is asking for trouble should something happen to your iPad.

  • How to download repair of "missing WIA" for officejet J4550 All in one printer

    officejet J4550, all in one
    Problem:  message states "missing WIA"
I'm missing my installation disk and would like to download the solution to repair/update/install the WIA.
how to download repair of "missing WIA" for officejet J4550 All in one printer

    HI knewsomga,
WIA is Windows Image Acquisition, it is a proprietary Microsoft driver model and application programming interface (API) for Microsoft Windows Me and later Windows operating systems that enables graphics software to communicate with imaging hardware such as scanners, digital cameras and Digital Video-equipment. - Source
     Please follow the instructions below.
Please hold down the windows flag key and the R to open the Run box.
    Type services.msc and press Enter
    Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    Right click and open Properties
Stop the service from the General tab and then Start it again
Verify that the Startup type is set to Automatic rather then manual
Also, look for 'Shell Hardware Detection' in the list of services. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service, and make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically from its properties.
Locate the 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC)' in the list of services. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service, and make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically as well.
If the issue persist, the HP Print and Scan Dr might help, otherwise I suggest contacting Microsoft.

  • Where did all the setting for printing go in PSE8-Mac?!

OK, I'm probably missing some obvious settings somewhere, please tell me after you read my rantings...
I'm using the 'Full Edit' mode, assuming that is important. But the new Print Dialog looks like it has been dumbed down for some one, not sure who, however has it has me completely confused. There are now only three 'steps' for printing. One and two are self explanatory. However...
Step three concerns paper size, image size and several other details. Just for testing, I created a new 4 x 6 inch, 300dpi page and drew some lines. Command-P. Proper printer is selected, select "Letter" as the paper size. 4 x 6 inch appears selected as the "Print size" (I thought that was because of the original page size, but it appears to simply be the default). That is a detail that could easily be over looked by a new user. If the original image is larger than 4 x 6, it will, obviously be either cropped or reduced to fit those dimensions! It seems to me that the "Select Print Size" should automatically assume to be the image size. OTOH, I can see that some people may want to do all their printing on one size of paper. In that case, why not have a preference for the default and let the user change it when they change paper sizes (if they want)?
Now, if the user happens to notice that a new 8 x 10 inch image is going to be printed in a 4 x 6 area, she will now decide to check the other settings available in the pop up menu. OK, there IS an 8 x 10 inch choice. But look, what's this "Custom" choice? Let's investigate...Now this is strange! The defaults there seem to be 1.383 inches for height AND width! Who came up with that weird number?!
Oh, there is a "Scale to Fit Media" check box. Checking that now makes the height and width somewhat closer to reality, they now indicate the pape dimensions. That IS logical, but not extremely helpful, IMHO. By the way, the second time one selects the "Custom" choice, the correct, original image size appeared in the Print size boxes. Although I cannot seem to get those to reappear. Oh well...
My point is, how do these confusing configurations help? Beyond me, anyway.
BTW, the dpi settings all seem to be 'computed' at one less than the number set by the user for an image. For example, a new image page created at 300 dpi shows 299 in the Custom dialog, 150 shows 149, etc. Close, but why not exact? Furthermore, why can't the user select any dpi they choose? Isn't that what the computer if for; calculate what happens to the pixels when they print at a different setting than the image? Sure, the user should be warned that terrible images my result, but if that's what the user wants, let it be done! Who's running this show, anyway? Oh yeah, I remember, now...excuse me for asking, I'm only a paying customer, what do I know?!
Lastly, if one has more than one image open, every single one can easily be printed, accidentally. Why? Because they will all appear in the Print Dialog. Don't you see them? Over there on the left. Yeah, I see them, but why doesn't the image I have in front, the one I'm working on, be the one I probably want to print? Many of the others may simply be images I'm borrowing parts from. Why do the developers think I always want to print every image that might be open? I don't have any idea, either. Sure, there are a couple of ways to prevent this multiple image printing; select the one you don't want to print and use the "minus" button or simply close all those images before going to the Print dialog. Guess what. Using the 'minus' button only works for this printing, the next time you ask to print they will all be there, again. And, what if you aren't really finished using some of those extra images that you closed? Now you get to re-open them all again. Completely unnecessary steps because of poor user considerations/research, in my humble opinion. Again, this is exactly the thing that preferences are made for. Or, put them in the "Edit Guided" mode! Or, better yet, just give me back the old Print dialog! Nice!
Now, I am extremely glad to see that PSE can now remember to keep that stupid Panel bin out of the way! Finally! Three more inches of screen to work with!!! Hooray!! Unfortunately, it still can't remember what the last setting for the jpeg quality was...still defaults to ZERO! Sure, that's the setting I always want to use, it's so much fun letting people try to guess what is in the image...one would think after 8 iterations this could be fixed. One down, umpteen to go. Oh well, what do you want for $80?

Thanks for your listening/reading and I'll take your advice about dropping a note to the developers, but I won't be holding by breath! I doubt that they consider this a real problem. It's really just my ranting!
Your solution is probably the 'fix' they might suggest, anyway. However, I'd rather have the screen space than a list of thumbnails of images I already have open. command-plus and/or minus is a pretty quick way of making it easy to see anything that might be visible. Of course, I'm sure there are other uses for the Project Bin that many find useful. Even though I have a 24" iMac, I rather like using the screen space the way I want, not an arbitrary way that got developed. I just don't see why developers can't program an app to allow every conceivable method of use by every living and future user! LOL!!!
I guess today was the first time I've printed anything since installing 8. I was, quite confused when presented with the new Print interface. Actually, I thought that must be part of the 'Guided' set up which I assume leads one by the hand as much as possible. "Thank you Adobe, but I'm trying to avoid unnecessary contact with strangers right now." LOL! At least I know I didn't miss some setting somewhere.
Thanks! Have a great weekend! And don't get scared too much tonight!

  • Question about file preparation for print from Photoshop

I need to figure out the best method for saving for print from Photoshop. Here are the things that are confusing me:
Problem: When I create a design in Photoshop, I'm left with a few options on how to save my document. I would like to know which of the following is the best method:
Method 1: create a pdf and embed the required fonts. This method worries me because I've read that certain fonts will not open on the recipients end due to restrictions set by the font maker. Is this something I should be concerned with or is embedding fonts the best route to take?
Method 2: Convert all type to shapes. This method seems like the safest but I've read problems associated with this route as well. One website commented that having too much text converted to shapes can cause extremely long print times. Is this true?
Another problem I've encountered with converting text to shapes is when I have a paragraph that has more than one text color...converting to shapes converts everything to just a single color. I would love to know a work around to this. Currently I have to create separate layers for the different text colors and try to manually align them...very time consuming. I know InDesign would be best for this type of thing, but Photoshop works just fine for me, asside from this one little thing).
Method 3: Flatten my entire design (text and all) at 300dpi. Will my text look crisp flattening at this resolution?
Thank you to anyone who can help clear this up for me. I read so much inconsistant information online that I don't know what to think anymore.

recipients end due to restrictions set by the font maker. Is this

Always embed fonts, but then again, Photoshop can't until you save a format that can like PDF.  Some fonts do not allow you to do so. Outline the fonts or convert to shapes. Better yet, stop building text documents in Photoshop for print. It's generally a bad idea for many reasons like rejected jobs and lost money and time.
    Method
2: Convert all type to shapes. This method seems like the safest but
I've read problems associated with this route as well. One website
commented that having too much text converted to shapes can cause
extremely long print times. Is this true?
Problems arise if you want someone to edit the files, but the same goes for a font that is missing.  As far as the print slow down times - it depends upon the RIP and how complex the file is.  Maybe or maybe not be an issue.  After all, text in Photoshop is using a font as a vector shape layer and not a font in the traditional sense.
    Another problem I've encountered
with converting text to shapes is when I have a paragraph that has more
than one text color...converting to shapes converts everything to just a
single color. I would love to know a work around to this. Currently I

A paragraph?  Please attend a school that teaches you the basics of design in graphics. It will do you a great service to get more studies under your belt. Photoshop text is for graphical art not type setting.
Method 3: Flatten my entire design (text and all)
at 300dpi. Will my text look crisp flattening at this resolution?
It depends upon the resolution of the output device. The higher the resolution of the output the worse your text will be.

  • Missing images when printing (in Word)

I am wrapping up a very long report for a client, and have inserted a number of color images (JPG). I cannot for the life of me get them to print. They show up just fine in the print preview, but nothing actually shows up on the paper when I actually print the document. I have checked every setting I can think of, but nothing seems to be off. I have tried converting to PDF, but the images are missing in those, too.  I've also tried converting to a DOC file (rather than the current DOCX version)-- also a fail.  Does anyone know what the trick is to getting images to print in Word??? I'm at a total loss and it's driving me batty.
Copying and reformatting the entire report into Pages will take FOREVER and I'm really hoping to avoid that.  Help!!!!
    Thanks.

  • Using a Publish Service for print service prep

I'm just starting to work out a new way to prepare images for sending to a (consumer grade!) print service using a Publish service, and realized I should harness the power of this corner of the Lightroom community to see if my ideas are sound. Feel free to add comments or suggestions.
    Here's what I'm doing:
    - For each size and processing option (e.g., 5x7, Matte) create a hard drive Publish Service.
    Set options appropriately, such as:
    - Filename for clarity. I use custom name + orig file number. (There appears to be a small display bug, in that the example displayed will show the " dng.jpg")
    - Given what I've learned about Lr and JPEG compression, I reduce the quality to 80% or so for a nice quality/size balance. I don't want to have to muck with this too much.
    - My service does not have an ICC profile for me to use, but assure me that AdobeRGB is accepted by their equipment.  So that's what I'll use. (One day I'll try out a pro service that understands that a simple thing like an ICC profile makes us feel warm and fuzzy.)
    - Resizing to fit. I set to never enlarge (though it should never happen that I have to enlarge) and set the dimensions to whatever I need for this service: 5x7, 4x6 &etc. Hints on optimal dimensions for getting nice borderless prints of a certain size accepted! I know that not all dimensions are created equal.
    - I'll assume that the default resolution is fine, but I ought to do my research for when to modify this when I get into 8x10 or larger formats.
    - Sharpening for print and paper type for this publish service.
    - My service has no reasonable file size limitations, so I just let the exported files get created at any size.
    - I minimize keywords.  Makes much smaller files because who needs keywords in prints? I have Metadata Wrangler, so I might insert that and have it leave in the minimal set of MD, like ICC profile and copyright info.
So, given this, I can process my images as usual, make a number of crops (just to be a perfectionist) and then drag them to appropriate service where they end up in a hierarchy of folders ready for uploading.
    What am I missing?
BTW, I'm not using the Print module because it was too tweaky trying to get it to make JPEGs that would print borderless.  Feel free to set me straight on that if you like.

You only get one opportunity to set up the hard drive under publish and the folder cannot be changed unless you get a plug-in to provide a work around.
However you could just create a generic publish folder - something like Photo Lab, or Print Job.
But you could then right click on your publish folder and select “make target collection” - you will see the plus sign added.
Simply highlight the photos you want to print and press B (the same as adding to a quick collection) and your Publish Services folder on your hard drive will be populated with the exports.
The real problem is that you would need to edit the publish settings every time you required different dimensions etc (not sure possible). I use a similar system, which works well and I like how I can see what has already been published and what is still to be published but my prints are always the same size and resolution.

  • I'm giving up on matching colors for print...please help

I have an image of a model whose sweatshirt is sky blue.
I know I'm setting up my print dialogue options correctly for print. I have the paper profile selected, correct printer, etc. I also used On-Screen, soft proofing with my paper selected when making adjustments in Aperture. On screen, her sweatshirt looks perfect. I go to print a picture and in the print dialogue box, her sweatshirt is now teal. I have them side by side and the difference is obvious. Again, the soft proofing is set to the paper I am using, and the settings in print dialogue is set up with that paper in ColorSync. So I have them matched according to settings, but they look very different.
For the heck of it, I experimented and switched soft proofing to sRGB and the sweatshirt turns teal on screen. This teal now matches the print dialogue box's preview of that sweatshirt.
So why does my picture print according to sRGB profile (and match it perfectly--teal blue sweatshirt) and not the profile I have selected for my printer (HP Advanced Glossy--sky blue sweatshirt)? Can anyone tell me if this indicates a certain issue that I can resolve?

I have a B9180 and have had many, many problems.
I meticulously follow the set-up procedures but in the end it is hit and miss. At the start of each printing session I have to waste several expensive sheets in order to get the settings in sync. Not only is it expensive, it is time consuming and frustrating. Ultimately the final parameter is Gamma.
HP advanced photo glossy is very good but I also use locally sourced papers; Canson - a French set of papers, I like their Photosatin Premium Rc and Tecco, a German company - Ultra-white glossy and PSR 250 a beautiful textured satin finish. Most of my printing is monochrome by the way. Eventualyl I get there but I do not have great confidence in the combination of HP and Aperture. the pro photo people say you have to balance everything. their knowledge is far superior to mine but having spent now around 40 years in IT I know enough to say that both companies are falling down badly in terms of tehir co-operation. This type of black magic and mumbo jumbo is just not necessary in today's advanced IT world. If it were so easy as buying an upmarket Epson, I would do it, but that route also seems fraught with danger. If PC, Lightroom were the answer I would go that way but again I am not convinced.
I love printing and the process of getting there but blunt tools do not help.
