Mistakes in Flash Builder

I watched a Tom krcha video tutorial on rtmfp using cirrus or stratus. I copyed the code he used just has an experiment really in Flash Builder 4.6. For some reason though, it didn't work for me even though its the same code that was in the video tutorial.
I have captured some screen shots for you  to look at:
I hope you can zoom in to see the code i know its not highlighted very well.
Again good luck!
If you notice any mistakes i would appreciate if you could point them out to me thanks

  • Flash Builder 4.7 won't debug air app on Android devices  anymore

    Hi there,
    A strange thing happened today to my Flash Builer 4.7 installation on OS 10.8.5 : it suddenly refused installing and debugging AIR apps.
    At -the famous- 57% of compilation completion I can see the "installing app on device" message, but nothing happens then, and the one minute connection to app timeout is finally triggered.
    I had a look at other threads dealing with this problem here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1154269 and here http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/02/12/new-android-4-2-2-feature-usb-debug-whitelist-prev ents-adb-savvy-thieves-from-stealing-your-data-in-some-situations/ and I downloaded the latets Android SDK and replaced a bunch of files into the /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/sdks/4.6.0/lib/android/bin folder but nothing worked.
    The fun side of the issue is that yesterday it worked, and this morning it did not worked anymore, but I swear I did not ugraded Android on my phone nor I upgraded AIR SDK in FLash Builder or OS X. The Android phone is the same as usual, a Nexus 4 with Android 4.3, that I upgraded 1 month ago.
    I can't debug my Android app anymore, this drives me crazy, and I spent the day trying to find a solution.
    Do you guys had a similar problem ?

    My mistake...
    There was a typo into the XML application descriptor, that prevented the app to install properly on the device.
    Precisely, it wasn't a typo but raher a malformed <intent-filter> node. I launched adb tool from the console with adb install MyApp.apk command, and I saw this : Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_MANIFEST_MALFORMED] in the terminal. From here it was easy to find the culprit.
    What would be cool is to have this feature inside the Flash Builder's Console panel.

  • Flash builder 4.7 as plugin won't display asdoc

    Hi,
    on windows 7 x64, I just installed Flash Builder 4.7 x64 on my existing eclipse 4.2 x64 (using "the Adobe Flash Builder 4.7 Plug-in Utility") and the asdoc popup won't display anything but the current element. If I start the standalone Flash Builder, using the same workspace and same project, it works fine. Do I need to configure something else so it works as a plugin?

  • Multi-module Maven and Flash Builder 4

    Sorry for cross-posting this, but I responded to:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3235768#3235768
    which was posted in the Flex forum, and this is more about Flash Builder. The issue is that content assist doesn't work with a multi-module maven project containing a Flex Project module. So here is my response to the above. Hopefully someone will see it here:
    <quote>
    I'm having the EXACT same problem reported by you as well as here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2580402#2580402
    Steps to reproduce:
    1) Install Adobe Flash Builder 4 Standalone (I initially tried with Spring Toolsuite 2.5.0, but thought I should try with the standalone version from Adobe).
    2) Open FB4 and create a brand new workspace
    2) Add Eclipse Galileo and M2Eclipse as update sites
    3) Install m2eclipse
    4) From the command line, create a basic maven project via 'mvn archetype:create'.
    5) Remove the src folder and change packaging type to pom
    6) In FB4, import the new maven project
    7) Create a new Flex Project via File -> New -> Flex Project. Change the location so that it's in a folder under your newly created maven project
    8) Open Main.mxml -- notice that the generated file has syntax errors in it (another issue). Fix those errors and attempt the Content Assist -- no dice
    Notice that this is a vanilla FB4 standalone install. The only thing I added was the M2Eclipse plugin. Also, I am NOT using flexmojos, nor have I added a <modules/> section to the parent pom yet. As far as FB is concerned, the new flex project is just in a folder underneath another in it's workspace. Also note that this is a brand new workspace -- so a corrupted workspace shouldn't be an issue (as was apparent in the beta).
    This has been driving me nuts. We need this functionality. We have a multimodule maven project and really want to use Flex and Flash Builder. We're still in the eval period for FB, but may have to forgo buying FB and instead go with FlashDevelop, even though it's not as powerful.

    Hi guy,
    its actually quite simple.
    The  "Root Folder"  "Root URL" "Context Root" define your server directory and its url.
    as the root folder you put in
    <your blazeds install dir>/tomcat/webapps/<your project dir> // you take the blazeds.war file and copy it , rename it and voila your app dir is ready
    so it should read something like : c:\blazeds\tomcat\webapps\my_project --> this then has a WEB-INF/flex directory in it. Thats why you have that error of yours  --> Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml.
    the root url is something like
    http://localhost:8400/<your context root> --> is usually your project name in lower case
    the context root is your project name, the same name as your copied blazeds.war file
    <my_project_name> --> thats what you insert to access your app in a webbrowser
    Hope that helped a bit
    I am just getting started myself, so i hope i didnt make any mistake, if so I would also be happy if anybody you knows better corrects me
    Have fun and good luck

  • Flash builder 4.5 code completion doesn't show public function

    Hi,
    I am migrating from flex3 to flash builder 4.5 and it shows a question mark at one of my lines.
    No errors, and the code works fine when i run it.. only there is no code completion in flash builder.
    My code:
    //i use a custom component like this:
    <generalmenu:menu x="59" y="58" id="mymenu"/>
    //this component loads its functions from a separate as(no class just simple as code) file (so i don't have all code in the file with visual components)
    <fx:Script source="menusource.as"/>
    //inside menusource.as there is a function that takes care of closing my app.
    public function closeprogram():void
         //closing window goes here
    my problem..
    when i type inside my function at application level:
    mymenu.closeprogram();
    i get a question mark in front of it: Call to a possibly undefined method closeprogram
    code completion doesn't recognize my public functions inside the mymenu component, it does see mymenu but when i hit .(dot) it doesn't give me a list of functions.
    How can i get code completion to work? Are there changes in the way you call as files in flash builder 4.5? Please some help.. code completion makes life much better.

    I found why the nasty behavior above was happening ::- D.
    I usually design my classes in Enterprise Architect. Since this is a rather large project, started from of about 30 classes, I did the entire architecture in EA, then, generated the code.
    But, EA has poor AS3 support. And as a consequence, it has a few issues, such as the way it generates CONSTRUCTORS:
    public function G3Widget (name: String, parent: IG3Parent = null): void
    Spot the mistake ::- D.

  • Flash Builder 4.5 can't find Flash imports

    Hi everyone,
    Not sure if this question has been answered elsewhere in the forum but I'm using Flash Pro CS5.5 together with Flash Builder 4.5 which are supposed to integrate well (I'm led to believe anyway).
    After importing my Flash Pro project and opening up my class files in Flash Builder 4.5 I note that all the Flash namespaces/imports can't be found. I'm at a loss as to why this as the import process seems to be a straighforward process.
    Am using the Flex 4.5 SDK.
    Anyone else get this and, if so, did anyone manage to resolve it?
    Any pointers would be much appreciated.
    Sincere thanks.
    Jas

    Oh, and I forgot to mention that I get the same stupid error for this code which worked perfectly in FB3:
    for (var key: Object in Event_MouseDown_Callbacks) (key as Function)(sender == null ? this : sender, flashEvent, Event_MouseDown_Callbacks[key]);
    I get the error for (key as Function). This code is within a Function of mine.
    As for my original post, I just re-tested that issue in FB3 and there, when I hit . (dot) after the cast, it CORRECTLY LISTS all the members of the G3Widget Class.
    I've looked in the options of Flash Builder 4.5 for an hour trying to see why it behaves like it does. No luck. And it's probably not an option. It's just that, by default, it doesn't list the members of the type after you cast it, which, in my opinion, is a HORRIBLE mistake. I'm going back to FB 3.

  • Attempting to use flash builder beta 2 with beta 1 sdk

    Hi,
    I'm running into a few issues migrating a project I've started in Flash Builder Beta 1.
    The biggest mistake I probably made was uninstalling Beta 1 and I can't seem to find where to re-download it. Is it available somewhere?
    It would not be necessary except for the fact that I'm catching errors trying to use Flash Builder Beta 2 with the 4.0.0.7219 sdk.
    When I set my compiler to use the beta 1 sdk, Flash Builder first throws an internal build error. Then I can't return to properties > flex compiler, getting a "could not accept changes error." Below is the log output.
    I plan to migrate my project to Beta 2, but would love to do it in a separate workspace...
    Any help, suggestions much appreciated!

    Hello,
    I reproduced your issue exactly as you stated.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like FB Beta 1 is publicly available.  To get out of the broken state, you can go to your workspace preferences (not project properties) and under Flash Builder > Installed Flex SDKS, switch back to the 4.0 Beta 2 SDK that came with Builder.
    I am going to ask around to see what the problem might be, as I am unfamiliar with the code that is causing this.  There may or may not be a workaround, but regardless, I think we'd recommend that you upgrade your project from Beta 1 SDK to Beta 2.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Builder : managing multiple charts projects for one XHTML site

    Hello,
    I build several Charts that have to be integrated in some static web page.
    2 or 3 charts are integrated in the same page ...
    In Flash Builder
    - i have one project per chart
    - i must change the compilation options (option -services -locale etc) depending on wich platform i deploy (because i use an AMF Server and i have to configure the locale also) :
              - local windows machine
              - Linux pre-production server
    So it takes me a lot of time to build each project for the local host or for the pre-production one ...
    Is there a way to create a compilation profile to avoid re-typing each compilation option (like in netbeans per example) ?
    Is  there a way to build several projects at the same time ? maybe in  separate directories ? (in my case i would like to build 3 or 4 Charts  that will be available on the same HTML page even if they don't use the  same services ...)

  • Please help me with this chaotical Flash Builder 4.5 Code Assist

    Hello everybody. In the past few days, I have been analyzing a very strange behavior of my Flash Builder 4.5. I am trying to upgrade to it, from Flex Builder 3, but I am finding the process impossible due to 2 problems. This is the first one:
    I get no code assist for SOME casted types. I don't understand why! I would be very grateful to any kind soul which can pull me aboard Flash Builder 4.5. I've been waiting 26 months (yes, more than 2 years) to have an ActionScript IDE with snippets & conditional breakpoints and now I can't make it work ::- (.
    First, see this image:
    As you can see there, the environment WARNS me (I hate warnings!) that there is no "Text" member. HOWEVER, the code compiles and runs. Even worse, accessing that member after an explicit type declaration works fine.
    Now here comes the funny part: I declared some other type called "SomeClass" and put in it a TestMethod and casted "sender" to it. SURPRISE!!! The Code Assist works there!
    WHY !?
    I even tried a TestProperty, just like in G3Widget, and that works fine as well! I don't get it any more!!!
    I extracted some code for you:
    //This is where I did the above tests.
    package //This class is in the root of the application.
      import Gamaddiction.ASDFG.GAS3.G3Construction.G3Widget;
      import Gamaddiction.ASDFG.GAS3.G3Construction.SomeClass;
      public class SandBox
        private function cmdTwo_Click (sender: Object, fe: Event, payload: Object): void
          trace(G3Widget(sender).Text); //Can't see "Test" in Code Assist List and I get a WARNING: -Access of undefined property Text
          var a: G3Widget = G3Widget(sender);
          trace(a.Text); //But this works!
          trace(SomeClass(sender).TestMethod); //This crashes, of course, because sender is NOT a "SomeClass"
          //but nevertheless, it compiles fine and I get NO warnings and the Code Assist WORKS FINE HERE.
    //Code assist works fine for the following Class.
    package Gamaddiction.ASDFG.GAS3.G3Construction
      public class SomeClass
        public function SomeClass ()
        public function get TestMethod (): String
          return "bau";
    //This is the G3Widget Class, on whose Text member Code Assist fails.
    //This class is in THE SAME path as the above Class, which works fine.
    package Gamaddiction.ASDFG.GAS3.G3Construction
      public class G3Widget implements IG3Parent
        protected var _Text: String;
        public function get Text (): String
        { return _Text; }
        public function set Text (text: String): void
        { _Text = text; }

  • Flash Builder 4.5 Doesn't Know How To Cast?!

    I just upgraded from FB 3 and I am starting to feel very disappointed. Fonts look horrible (antialising-wise) and code which worked perfectly now acts weird. Case in question:
    Dirt simple: I got a class called G3Widget with a property named Text.
    trace(G3Widget(sender).Text);
    This code COMPILES and RUNS successfully. HOWEVER:
    1. I get a warning on it: Access of undefined property Text
    2. I get no code assist: when I hit the . (dot) after the (sender) I get no code assist with properties of the Widget Class.
    What's wrong? I can't believe that FB 4.5 doesn't do what FB3 did.

    Oh, and I forgot to mention that I get the same stupid error for this code which worked perfectly in FB3:
    for (var key: Object in Event_MouseDown_Callbacks) (key as Function)(sender == null ? this : sender, flashEvent, Event_MouseDown_Callbacks[key]);

  • BlazeDS 4 and Flash Builder 4 Setup problems

    Hello All.
    I have downloaded BlazeDS4 and installed it onto a windows server using tomcat.  I have then been able to log into this server and use the examples provided using this address - http://localhost:8400/  I should note, that this link also works on remote computers by giving the correct IP address instead of localhost.
    So i know that Blaze is working fine.
    But now i want to configure this with Flash Builder 4, so that i can try and create my own apps.
    I go "File > New > Flex Project "
    Then i select J2EE from Server Technology, and then select "BlazeDS"
    Now this is where i get stuck, I don't know what settings to put for
    "Root Folder"  "Root URL" "Context Root"
    If for example my server IP is - 10.1.2.12:8400
    Could somebody talk thru me what settings i need to use ? I keep getting a message
    Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml.
    If anyone could help I would be thankful ! !

    Hi guy,
    its actually quite simple.

  • How to renew your self-signed certificate p12 with Flash Builder

    I have been using a self-signed certificate (generated using Adobe Flash Builder 4.7) for my Android app. The app is live on Google Play market but the certificate is going to expire soon, and I know if I create new certificate and update my app, existing Android users will not be able to auto-update the app (as the App's Signature has been changed). I would like to know how can we re-new the self-signed Certificate .p12 with Flash Builder?
    Thank you very much.

    After doing my research about the self-signed certificate created by Adobe Flash Builder , I realized that was my mistake to think that the certificate would expire soon. I doubled check the expiration date of my self-signed certificate and the date was set to 35 years after I generated it using flash builder 4.7 (which is very safe).
    For anyone who wants to check the self-signed .p12 expiration date you follow the instruction from this link:
    http://bsdsupport.org/how-do-i-determine-the-expiration-date-of-a-p12-certificate/
    Hope it helps

  • What is new in Flash Builder 4.7 Game Development beta 2

    I just installed it, I thought it would include some version of monocle.
    Are there any changes other than a support for a product not available yet through labs?
    If Not, when will we get monocle to test with it?

    In this build you can create SWFs that support profiling with Monocle, but you will need to download Monocle separately as it is not a part of Flash Builder.
    The telemetry API usage via monocle is possible only with the AIR SDK 3.4, so out of the box AS3 projects would support creating SWFs that can be used with monocle. To make it work with MXML (or rather Flex) would will need to overlay the Flex 4.6 SDK with the AIR 3.4 runtime.
    Thanks

  • Adobe creative cloud cc install has messed up my Flash Builder 4.6 serialization

    Hello,
    I have been a flash builder user for several years now. I have had FB 4.6 installed on my computer as a free upgrade from FB 4.5, which came with my copy of creative suite 5.5, which I purchased in 2011.
    FB 4.6 has been working fine - even when I moved to adobe creative cloud last May (2012).
    However, now that I have installed the new creative cloud (CC) applications (and uninstalled the creative cloud cs6 apps) - I am having problems with Flash Builder 4.6. I open it and get a message that my 'trial period' is up. Again, I own FB from my purchase of CS 5.5 - not to metion that it was included in creative cloud. I know that I can download FB 4.7 from creative cloud, but it doesn;t have the design view. So I want FB 4.6. I have seen some solutions to similar problems on the web that recommend reinstalling as a trial and then inputting the serial number once it launches. But I have FB 4.5 on my CS 5.5 installation disc - not FB 4.6 - and I'm not even sure how I could get FB 4.6 anymore. Not to mention that uninstalling - reinstalling 4.5 - and then upgrading from 4.5 to 4.6 - even if possible - would be a huge hassle.
    Can someone please help me to get my FB 4.6 working again? To reiterate - everything was fine until I installed Creative Cloud CC apps and uninstalled Creative Cloud CS6 apps
    Thanks
