Mixing document & rpc style in one web service

Hi all!
Can two different styles of webservies (i.e. document & rpc) be contained in one web service?
I looked around and only thing i found out was that WebLogic does not support mixing styles in one web service. I hope there is no limitation from Webservice specification nor any constraint by WS-I either. What about tomcat/jboss etc. ??
Any help/clue/links are appreciated.
Have a nice day!

Thanks Eric for your valuable input.
I created a Web Service Proxy in Jdev 10 and it did create all the Class that I need to Call the Web Service.
When I wanted to Import these Classes into my Oracle 9iDS (Forms Builder) I started having Java version incompatibility issues such as Unsupported major.minor version 48.0 / Unsupported major.minor version 49.0 Import Errors.
So I had to change the LIBRARY of the JDEV Project into J2SE 1.3.1_02 version and rebuild the Project and Redoply in order to IMPORT into Oracle Forms 9i (which I think FORMS 9i JAVA version is 1.3.1_02 an earlier version than JDEV 10 with is 1.5.0_06!!! NOT sure please confirm)
By doing this I was able to Import most of the Class (but NOT all) except for ONE class that I tested the Web Service from Jdev "Service1SoapClient" and is working perfectly fine from JDEV calling Webservice and returning proper values, which Imports the following class:
import oracle.webservices.transport.ClientTransport;
import oracle.webservices.OracleStub;
import javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory;
import javax.xml.rpc.Stub;
I also had to Add to CLASSPATH the following Jar:
..webservices\lib\wsclient.jar;
Still I was getting the "Unsupported major.minor version 48.0 " as below:
Exception occurred: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: oracle/webservices/transport/ClientTransport (Unsupported major.minor version 48.0)
Can you please tell me what is it that I am going Wrong? Can I resolve this issue?
Kindly can you tell me what does Axis do? Where can I get it? Is it downloadable?
Thanks for all the support.
Regards,
Baz

  • How to keep multiple function modules under one Web service

    Hi Experts,
    I have Three RFC function modules and i need to create one web service for these three RFC function modules. I know How to crearte a web service for one function module.
    please suggest me How to keep multiple function modules under one Web service.
    Thanks in advance
    Lakshminarayana

    Hi Lakshmi,
    The best way to do it is to assign all the three RFC Enabled FM's to one function group. Later on the top menu in Utilities you get an option to Create a Webservice from a Function Group.
    You can create one single Webservice using all the the 3 FM's.
    I hope this helps.

  • Using JAX-RPC handlers to proxy web service traffic

    Hi,
    I want to use JAX-RPC handlers to proxy web service traffic. In some instances the handler should modifiy / verify the message before forwarding the request to the remote web service end-point. Hence, the handler should forward the call by invoking the remote web service. In some cases the result from invoking the remove service should be post-processed by another proxy handler. To ensure that the result from invoking the remote service is available for post-processing I assume that the handler invoking the remote service must add the response message to the message context ( e g setProperty method) in the handler. Is this correctly understood?
    I would like to understand that this is a technically feasible and reasonable approach of using JAX-RPC. I'd really appreciate some feedback here.
    Many thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for your response. we are trying to access WSRR( manages end point urls for 7 different environments) and generate the end point dynamically at the design time. As we figured out WSRR is not compatible with OSB we are trying to implement these client side (OSB Proxy service) handlers which would get the dynamic endpoint depending on the environment used. I was able to create the handlers for this and set the jar in the classpath but the client service which should be using these handlers have to have these handlers defined in the deployment descriptor(web.xml) which am unable to see with a OSB project.
    Will there be a deployment descriptor(web.xml/webservices.xml) associated with Proxy services on OSB? Or Is there any other way to add custom JAX-RPC Handlers to a proxy service? Or is there any way to connect to WSRR directly?
    Thanks,
    Swetha

  • How to schedule Webi Documents with Prompts with RESTful Web Services

    Hello,
    I am trying to schedule Webi Documents with Prompts using RESTful Web Services with prompts. I am using Simple Rest Client app provided by Google Chrome. We have Business Objects SP6 Patch 1.
    However the documentation for RESTful Web Services has only examples for the following
    1. Schedule Documents without any Prompts to various destinations and recurrences.
    2. Refresh Documents with Prompts.
    Is there any example for scheduling documents with prompts? Please advise
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Peter,
    With Rest Client, on BI4.0 SP6, you can schedule Webi documents with prompts using the following:
    URL: http://<servername>:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/<docid>/schedules
    Method:POST
    Request Body:
    <schedule>
    <name>Enter values for City:</name>
    <format type="webi"/>
    <destination>
    <inbox/>
    </destination>
    <once retriesAllowed="2" retryIntervalInSeconds="60">
    <startdate>2013-08-26T15:58:51.000+02:00</startdate>
    <enddate>2013-08-27T15:58:51.000+02:00</enddate>
    </once>
    <parameters>
    <parameter optional="false" type="prompt" dpId="DP0">
    <id>0</id>
    <technicalName>Enter values for City:</technicalName>
    <answer constrained="false" type="Text">
    <values>
    <value>Austin</value>
    </values>
    </answer>
    </parameter>
    </parameters>
    </schedule>
    Using the above request you can schedule the Webi document with prompts to inbox destination  and set for once.
    The schedule can be sent in different formats to several destinations and set just for once, daily,
    hourly or monthly.
    You can also check the example for this on page 275 of SAP Webi RESTful SDK user guide for BI4.0 SP6 below:

  • JAX-RPC vs OC4J J2Ee web service

    Hi,
    Currently we use Oracle10G 10.0.3 developer preview edition. we deployed same web service on both JAX-RPC platfrom and OC4J J2EE web service platfrom (RPC encoding style). We found that old platform seems to perform better than JAx-RPC platfrom with regard to serialization and de-serialzation. We also did the test on Doc/literal style in JAX-RPC platfrom and its performance is not as good as the one deployed on old platform. We understand JAX-RPC is new implementation and Oracle10.0.3 is under developer preview edition and so it may not be optimized. We have following questions
    1. Is this a known issue in JAX-RPC platform?
    2. Is there anyway to optimize JAX-RPC web service? Like using different XMl parser (instead of Oracle XML parser)
    3. When is the final release of 10.0.3 expected?
    4. Will Oracle be supporting old web service platfrom (OC4J J2EE web service platform)? If so how long?
    Thanks and regards

  • JAX-RPC And Non-Java Web Service

    Hi,
    This is a total shot in the dark. I'm attempting to consume an RPC web service developed in Delphi. I've created a JAX-RPC client in NetBeans from the published WSDL, attached below. I've created calls to several of the procedures available. What's bizarre, at least to me, is that half of them work fine and half of them don't. In all cases where they don't I'm getting a returns SOAP envelope indicated an access violation, attached below. There are no errors in any of the server logs and the developer assures me that the procedures do, in fact, work from his client (also developed conveniently enough in Delphi).
    I'm willing to take him at face value for the moment and assume that the problem is in my client implementation, although I have no idea where it would lie. The only difference I've been able to gather between the features which work and those that don't is the size of the return package...it would most likely be much larger than the ones that don't work.
    The service is an ISAPI dll running under IIS on Windows Server 2003. Any clues or guidance anyone would be willing to provide would be most welcome. On to the files:
    There wasn't enough room to post the entire thing so I've included one working (CheckStock) and non-working (GetLibTrace) function.

    Jose,
    When you work with Web Services, the common development flow is as follow:
    1) develop your service endpoint. You can start from JAVA code or PL/SQL package (bottom-up) or from a WSDL (top-down). In your case, you need to start from the Store Procedures.
    2) deploy your service endpoint. As the result of the deployment step, you will have a WSDL available on your application server, that advertise the service interface.
    3) generate the static client proxy from the WSDL (service contract).
    4) invoke the service using the proxy from step 3 or use dynamic invocation APIs to make direct call, without to use a static proxy.
    Bypassing step 3) usually requires a dipper understanding of SOAP linguana, so it's not the easiest way to get started.
    Based on the statement you made, it looks like you are starting from step 3)
    From the error message, it seams that you are trying to invoke a Web service that was deployed using 'literal' encoding (either document/literal or RPC/literal) with a client generated for RPC-encoded message format. In the JDeveloper Wizard, you have an option to change the message format to RPC/Encoded.
    Hope this helps,
    eric

  • Web Service/XML-RPC:  SMTP to BC4J web service bridge ??

    A new business problem just landed on my desk for a possible solution.
    One way XML documents coming in from a Novel mail server doing SMTP forward to something
    in the OC4J, BC4J, side to receive and parse the XML.
    It would be great of course if the JDev / OC4J web services tools had a SMTP service
    that would route inbound SMTP messages at email address to a particular Servlet.post().
    Any other ideas??
    Thanks much,
    curt

    I don't have answer for the SMTP binding as currently the Oracle9iAS J2EE Web Services engine doesn't support an SMTP binding (checking with product management to see if their is any solution today). I suspect this is a manual exercise parsing the SMTP message and extracting the SOAP message.
    However with BC4J you do get in Oracle9i JDeveloper 9.0.2 the ability to consume/publish SOAP messages. And the readXML and writeXML methods on the BC4J view objects help deal with the content of your SOAP messages. So some of the work has been done for you.
    If you haven't seen this already, here is what the publishing side looks like. First, if you build a remote method in your <applicationModule>impl.java file with a signature like (everything in "<xxx>" is specific to your implementation), you can publish it as a Web service. For example:
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.*;
    public org.w3c.dom.Element getBC4JXMLDocument (String parm) {
    get<some BC4J view>().setWhereClause("<some column from your BC4J view>" = parm);
    // Assuming your column is a String :-)
    get<some BC4J view>().setWhereClauseParam(0, parm);
    return (Element)get<some BC4J view>().writeXML(1,Row.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
    Then publish the application module method as a Web service (see: http://otn.oracle.com/products/ids/daily/may10.html)
    It is pretty easy to build a client from the WSDL that is generated using the JDev wizards. Once you have the stub your code would look something like:
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.*;
    org.w3c.dom.Element x = stub.getBC4JXMLDocument("your_parameter");
    XSLProcessor l_processor = new XSLProcessor();
    XSLStylesheet l_xsl = l_processor.newXSLStylesheet(this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("some.xsl"));
    l_processor.showWarnings(true);
    l_processor.setErrorStream(System.err);
    DocumentFragment l_result = l_processor.processXSL(l_xsl,(XMLElement)e);
    // now feed the transformed XML document into the receiving BC4J view object using the readXML method
    The neat thing, which I think is the gist of your message, is that you could then use the BC4J readXML message to parse the incoming XML message and inflate it back into a BC4J view object. The net result would be moving an entire dataset over SOAP to a BC4J client.
    The SMTP binding would have to worked into the stub code generated. I don't have sample code that would help here right now but will check around.
    Mike.

  • 7520 All in one web services not working

    I got notified of a new update for the 7520. When I tried to install it, the screen said it was successful but then said "updating....do not turn power off" and it freezes and the update never gets successfully installed and I have no web services. I tried reiinstalling the whole software package, restarted the printer multiple times and the router too and can't seem to find an answer.  Anyone know what to do next?

    Assuming you can get to the point where you can get the software installed, you might be able to get Web Services back using the following workaround.
    Suggested Workaround:
    On the printer, Disable the web services -- that is, remove web services from the printer.
    This may then allow you to then "Enable Web Services".
    There is a consequence to this action:  Your previously selected ePrint custom address will no longer be valid and cannot be reused.  When you go back and log into your HP Connected account you may need to not only "add device" to re-add the printer to the device list of ePrint printers, you will have to select a new custom email address for that printer.
    Where / how is this done?
    Side Bar: The Disable Web services is usually done on the printer, although if the service is actually working, one can switch off EWS from EWS.
    Disable EWS on the printer, wait a few seconds, and then Enable the service again.
    Switching off EWS does not "break" your HP Connected account, although it does put a crimp in your printer's ePrint setup.  You can still log into the HP Connected account where the printer and the ePrint account is managed.    After EWS is disabled / enabled, you must log into your HP Connected account.
    If you do not find your printer listed under the Devices tab, you can usually "add device" and add your printer right back into the list at this point.
    If you do find your printer, but it won't cooperate, it won't update, you cannot "do" anything with it, go ahead and remove it.
    If you have to "remove the printer", then Log out of  HP Connected.
    If you have to "remove the printer", then Walk around your house / office / back yard -- come back.
    Log into HP Connected and use "Add device" to add your printer.
    Update the ePrint email address to something new - add a number, think of something new and clever; it does not matter as long as the name is different.
    Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up!
    It is a nice way to say “Thank You" for the help.
    Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.

  • SJSAS 8.2 secure and unsecure methods in one web service with ws-security

    Hi
    I'm trying to deploy a web-service (using SJSAS 8.2) using JAXRPC using message security (at the application level).
    I have one simple question:
    I have an EJB that exposes 2 methods as web-services, I specified in the sun-ejb-jar.xml that one of those methods is secure (and said nothing about the other) however when i run my test client I get a "WSS0202: No wsse:Security element in the message" error for both calls (instead of only for the secure call).
    Is this normal? Isn't it possible to have a normal (with no security headers) call to one method and another (with security headers and secure envelope) to another in the same webservice (from the same EJB)?.

    I wasn't clear?
    This is a big dev problem for a major Sun client.
    No one knows or wants to answer?

  • Mixed case operation names in generated Web Service

    I am generating a PL/SQL Web Service with Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.1. The PL/SQL package contains functions with mixed-case names, like “getAllNames”. When I generate my Web Service, JDeveloper transforms the names into all lower case, like “getallnames”.
    Does anyone know how I can modify this behavior? I need the mixed case for my service operation names. I’ve checked through JDeveloper preference and project properties but don't see anything obvious.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    I think you mean the names of the Java methods or even more the operation names in the WSDL.
    As I have observed, JDeveloper generates uppercase letters only after underscores and it deletes the underscores. This way names like "my_proc", "my_Proc", "My_proc", "My_Proc" and "MY_PROC" all become "myProc"; and names like "Myproc", "myProc", "MyProc", "MYPROC" all become "myproc".
    I don't know a way to modify this behaviour, but you can edit the WSDL manually after it is generated.

    Has anybody an idea what could be wrong?
    Any idea how to debug the commandlet New-WebServiceProxy?
    Best Regards

    Hello Christian,
     i  know this reply is really late ;) I am actually the author of the blog post mentioned by @AnnaWY, the post she mentioned is in regards of a situation 'where everything' is how it should be. Basically, (i think) sometime administrator, or the
    person who implements ITSM webservices makes an error, hence this script will not run. You will end up with that issue mentioned, in order to fix it, either you should contact the person who is responsible for that service, OR rewrite the wsdl for it yourself.
    It might be a bit problematic, but, it is for sure doable, as in my latest blog post about this issue.
    I am writing it here, because i also saw this page, while googling for explanation, i guess there are more people who are looking for this so here is the link to the explanation:

    I hope that helps !

  • Invoking one web service from another web service

    Hi there,
    I want to invoke a web service lets say X. But befor sending parameters to this web service, what i want to do is first pass the parameters to a web service called Y and Y will decide wether to call X or not. In other words i want to invoke a web service from another web service.
    Its kind of urget so do the needful asap.
    Thanks

    Calling another webservice from within a webservice does not require anything special. The service (say svc1) that calls another service (svc2) will be a web svc client. So you will have to do the same steps for svc1 as you would do for any other web service client

  • How to forward security credentials from one web service to another

    Here is what I am trying to do... I have a standalone client that invokes a message-level secured web service (WEBSERVICE A) on a Weblogic 9.1 server (SERVER A) with a username and a password, and this web service (WEBSERVICE A) uses the same username and password from the client, and invokes another message-level secured web service (WEBSERVICE B) deployed on a different WebLogic 9.1 server (SERVER B).
    Does WebLogic 9.X automatically asserts the same client credentials when the WEBSERVICE A invokes WEBSERVICE B on a different server? If it doesn't, what is the best way to do that? Thanks.

  • Sending document to oracle xml gateway web service and body is url encoded

    Hello,
    a question from a complete newbie to web services. I have some code that is sending a soap message to an oracle xml gateway web service. In the soap message the values in the soap body look like &lt ;CNTROLAREA&gt ;
    when I would be expecting <CNTROLAREA>. What I have been told is that the content of the ReceiveDocument element has been url encoded which causes the &lt and to correct it I need to change the paramater type from object to xmlnode and to build the request as an xmldocument. The xmlnode and xmldocument comes from a .net guy so I've been trying to find the equivalent in java but am not having any luck. I have a lot of reading to do but was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction on how to correct the problem. I captured the soap message being sent using tcpmon. Why does the body have the &lt instead of the < as I was expecting and is there an xmldocument type? The header part of the soap message looks as I expect. "><soapenv:Header><ns1:XMLGateway_Header xmlns:ns1="http://xmlns.oracle.com/apps/fnd/XMLGateway"><ns1:MESSAGE_TYPE>XML</ns1:MESSAGE_TYPE>. It is being sent as a com.oracle.xmlns.apps.fnd.XMLGateway.XMLGateway_Header type.
    thanks
    Thanks
