MLR.EXE on Windows 2003 64 BIT using WOW64

Hi
I have installed a SAP SCM 5.0 system on Windows 2003 64 BIT/MS SQL 2000.
The SCM consultant needs the MLR.EXE exe installed on the OS for the RFC connection 'CALL_MLR', I have followed OSS Note 301569, copied the exe to the OS in the /usr/sap/<SID> directory, but when I run the exe i get the error :
<b>'The application has failed to start because LIBRFC32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this'</b>
The note mentions you have to run WOW64 environment for 32 bit applications on 64 BIT OS, we are on Windows 2003 64 BIT SP1, so we should have WOW64  environment, the documentation I have read on WOW64 says it should run seamlessly as WOW64 hands the program as the address space in the program shows its a 32 BIT application.
LIBRFC32.DLL is in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder, this is in the path on the server, so it should be found.
I've ran the MLR.EXE on my 32 BIT Windows XP desktop to check its not a corrupted version, and it works ok, so its definitely a compatibility problem with Windows 2003 64 BIT.
Has anyone setup MLR.EXE in a scenario like this, or has run 32 BIT Applications on Windows 2003 64 BIT using WOW64?
Thanks.

I believe the mlr.exe needs the correct version of 32bit librfc32.dll. 32bit program cannot call a 64bit dll file.  So you'll probably need to find that particular librfc32 file. It's probably a non-unicode 32bit file too.  I believe you can find  one at SWDC in service marketplace. Just do a search in all categories for librfc32.dll.  Heres a note about librfc32.
Note 336693 - Replacing the librfc32.dll on a Win 32 Platform
Wondering why the librfc32.dll from your ECC didn't work in the other system. Maybe there's another copy of librfc32.dll in your directory path that mlr.exe found and not the one in your \windows\system32 directory.
I guess I would try and find out how many librfc32.dll and if not, try downloading those from SWDC and test those out.
Good luck.

Laurence...

  • How to connect to Window 2003 server using "connect as"

How can I set up Lion to easily connect to specified shares in the windows 2003 server. I want to authenticate as a user other than the one I am logged into on my Macbook? I am setting this up for teachers in a school. The macbook may be used by multiple teachers. Best way (simplest) please.

    Hi
Let's pretend the Windows Server has an IP address of 10.10.10.254
Go Menu > Connect to Server > smb://10.10.10.254. When prompted enter the account credentials of a user (username and password) that exists on the Windows Server. Alternatively you could use cifs://10.10.10.254. Either one will do. Assuming no 'silliness' on the Windows Network Administrator's part the share should mount.
For ease of connectivity afterwards you could tick the 'remember password using keychain manager' box. Personally I find keychain manager more trouble than it's worth. However you deal with this as you see fit. If it's multiple users using the same workstation I would not enable the option.
Once mounted you can view the Server Share on the user's Desktop by enabling the option in the Finder. It should appear as a blue-ish drive icon on the Desktop. Add the icon in that User's Login Items in the Accounts Preferences Pane. Think of it a little like the Windows equivalent of "mapping a network drive".
Next time that user logs into their local account and provided the workstation is connected to the same network, the share point should mount.
You could also or alternatively drag the share icon to the right hand side of Dock. Click on it to re-connect to the share after you've disconnected from it.

  • Unable to Install jdevstudio11113install.exe on Windows 2003 IA64

    Hi there,
I was trying to install jdeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 on ia64 windows 2003, and I kept getting error when installing:
    Java Virtual Machine Launcher
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Is this jdev supported on the machine/OS version?
    Thanks!

    Have you checked http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html
I guess the problem is that the installer runs on a 32 bit JDK which is not the default on your machine. You can try the jar installer.

  • Establishing Palm Desktop 4.1.4 connectivity on Windows 2003 Server - using m500

Admittedly, this is a legacy problem solution.  I was told by tech support that Palm could not support the m500 on Windows 2003 Server.  Via another connectivity solution, I learned that the pnp services needed to connect the palm m500 to my Windows 2003 server could be established.  I went to the link:
Installing SSDP and UPNP services under Windows 2k3
    (the link url is: http://alantechreview.blogspot.com/2008/03/installing-ssdp-and-upnp-services-under.html)
followed the procedure, then installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and was able to hotsync my m500 to that instance of Palm Desktop.
    Hope this helps someone.

I try to install itunes on the server. That is no problem. I share the Audio books I want ti share that is also working fine.
My problem is that, when the users log on and opens itunes it comes up with an error that it is not possible because it is already open on the server.
Is it possible to solve that problem and how?

My problem is that, when the users log on and opens itunes it comes up with an error that it is not possible because it is already open on the server.

  • 32-bit version odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\syswow64)

    1.     By default on any 64 bit machine, 64-bit version of odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\system32) is used.
    2.     It is also correct that one can use 32-bit version odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\syswow64) and add DB entries in System DSN .
    3.     But, even following Step 2, given above, Alter audit report is failing out.
    4.     It would be great help, if you let us know what additional step she used to run Alter audit report in WINDOWS 2008 R2 server.

PeopleSoft client tools such as application designer, datamover, etc run on 32 bit, where as PeopleTools is installed on 64 bit servers.
You need to add a system DNS for both 32 bits as 64 bits.
The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder.
The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder.
This is also stated in the installation manual of PeopleTools, Appendix B Installing a database manually
    Snipet from the installation manual:
Task B-2: Configuring an ODBC Data Source
Now that you have established your database name and location, you can set up an ODBC data source on the database client.
Note. With Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and above a new connectivity driver was delivered for Microsoft SQL Server databases named “Sql Native Client” or SNAC. Ensure that you use this driver during installation.
If you are running on a 64-bit machine, confirm that you are using the correct connectivity drivers. PeopleSoft PeopleTools executables are 32-bit, but can be run on a 64-bit machine. If you are running on a 64-bit
operating system you still need to utilize the 32-bit connectivity drivers for PeopleSoft PeopleTools. Use this information to verify that the ODBC Data Administrator odbcad32.exe is running from the correct
location. The ODBC Data Administrator resides in the following two locations on a 64-bit Microsoft Windows machine:
    • The 32-bit version odbcad32.exe is found in C:\windows\syswow64: This is for 32-bit applications running on a 64-bit operating system. This is the correct version for PeopleSoft PeopleTools.
    • The 64-bit version odbcad32.exe is found in C:\windows\system32: This is for 64-bit applications running on a 64-bit operating system.
When you run odbcad32 on a 64-bit Microsoft Windows machine (Start, Programs, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, ODBC Data Administrator), the 64-bit version of odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\system32)
is used by default. In order to run 32-bit PeopleSoft PeopleTools, be sure to include a System DSN entry for the 32-bit version odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\syswow64).

  • Run on a Windows 64-bit operating system either as a native application or under WOW64

I am using Visual Studio 2013 Professional, and need to compile my application in a way that it works with existing libraries on my system that are only 32 bit.
I read this someplace ....   "When you compile an application, you can specify that it should run on a Windows 64-bit operating system either as a native application or under WOW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit). WOW64 is a compatibility
environment that enables a 32-bit application to run on a 64-bit system. WOW64 is included in all 64-bit versions of the Windows operating system."
Can anyone tell me HOW I "specify that it should run on a Windows 64-bit operating system either as a native application or under WOW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit)."  ?

  • Import ECC6 using DB2 9.5 in Windows 2003 server got error in Phase Insatlla database soft ware .

    Hi Expert,
When i am going to import ECC6 in windows 2003 server  using DB9.5 i got error in phase Install data base software  like below.
Invalid command line argument. consult the windows installer SDK for detailed command line help.
Please help me for this error.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks
    J Jana

'invalid command line argument' - Most probably the SAPinst is not able to find the right path for the DB2 UDB DVD or the the argument is too long to interpret which is a very common problem during installations.
Check the path for db2 DVD, and keep it shorter - that means you have to reduce the number of folders where the DVD resides. Copy the DVD in a short path let's say C:\DB2\dvdname and re-try installation by giving the new path of dvd in SAPinst.
    Thank you.

  • SJAS 8.2 PE as Service on Windows 2003

Hello all, running into a problem and I'm curious as to whether anyone else has seen it.
I have installed SJAS 8.2 PE on a multihomed Windows 2003 server using default directories, no password prompting (it's a little intranet app), and I have followed Sun's procedure to use appservService.exe to wrap the AppServer in a Windows service. The application server starts from the command line and processes all requests normally. However when I attempt to start as a service (the app server is of course not running when I attempt this), I receive a "service-specific error code," which I presume is being returned by appservService.exe. If in the Service Properties I set the Logon to allow desktop interaction, the code returned is 9698848. If I turn that off, or select a different user to own the process, the code returned is 7077408. Are these numbers simply garbage, or is this useful information?
Moreover, the Applcation Event Log contains, "executeCommand failed: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress". This error only appears when attempting to start as a service; when the application server is started from the command line, no complaints are registered in the Event Log or application server log.
    So the questions are:
    1. What does it mean when appservService returns 9698848 or 7077408?
    2. What I/O operation is "overlapping" when starting as a service, that does not overlap when starting from the command line?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

    Nevermind! PEBKAC!
For the record, if you omit the .bat in the "asadmin" arguments to appservService, the service control mgr returns those errors. How non sequitur.

  • Possible to point Windows 2003 server to Windows 2012 R2 WSUS?

    Hello Community,
I have deployed Windows 2012 R2 WSUS in my organisation. I have no issues with Windows 7, 2008 R2 pointing to the WSUS server.
However, I am having issues pointing Windows 2003 R2 and Windows XP to the WSUS server.
On the Windows 2003 client, I have also ran wuauclt /detectnow and the GPO settings is set to:
In Windows 2008 R2, I know that I am getting updates from the WSUS because I can see the option
    below (circled in red)
    Questions:
    1. In Windows 2003, how do I know that I am actually getting the updates from the WSUS and not from the
    internet?
    2. Are Windows 2003/XP clients compatible to pull updates from a Windows 2012 WSUS server?
    3. If Windows 2003/XP clients are able to get updates from Windows 2012 WSUS server, how do I do it? Is
there any 'interface' for me to use?

In Windows 2003, there isnt an interface for administrators to "Check for Windows Updates managed by your system administrator" unlike in Windows 2008. (See screenshot on my first post)
In Windows 2003, I go to Tools > Windows Update and it is pointing me to microsoft's website.
Correct, In Windows 2003 you use the WUAUCLT.EXE command line utility, to perform client actions.
But that has *nothing* to do with how you *configure* the client, nor how you check the client's configuration. That is done exactly the same way regardless of which operating system is being used.
So when I say you know you're getting updates from WSUS by using the same method, that method is NOT looking at the WUApp applet in Control Panel, because that applet does NOT tell you that the client is getting updates from WSUS. It merely tells you that
some policy is in place that presumably tells the client to get updates from a WSUS server.
If you *really* want to know.... check the appropriate registry keys, or read the WindowsUpdate.log.... and that's done exactly the same way on every operating system.

  • Upgrade Oracle Client 8.1.7 to 10g on Windows 2003 with IIS / ASP

I am having problems after I install 10201_client_win32 on Windows 2003 which uses IIS ASP application to connect via ODBC to Oracle databases.
tnsping and m/s access can connect but for some reason my ASP application can not connect but doesn't give me any error messages just hangs during ASP database connection
I have a mixture of 8i and 10g DSN connections which I use, I'm not sure if I need to un-install 8.1.7 driver or remove all 8i ODBC to enable this to work
Should ASP be able to connect to a mix of 8 and 10g drivers?
Perhaps some DLL incompatibility or install issue.
Note it works ok on XP workstation but not so far on Win2003 server.
Any help to verify install or things to check would be appreciated
    Paul

Since 8.1.7 was never certified on Windows 2003, it's entirely possible that it would cause some problems and might interfere with the 10g client.
If you are confident that the setup on your XP box is identical to the setup on the 2003 box, I would tend to suspect that the 8.1.7 client was causing the problem.
