Mobile Content Delivery

Hi All,
I would like to know Weblogic capabilities to deliver content for mobile devices. Currently I was exploring Volantis mobility server to deliver content for mobile devices where Volantis enables to define policies for different mobile devices and it has in built database of 6000+ device features.
I would like to have your views on the following things
1) Issues to deliver the content to different mobile devices
2) How does Oracle weblogic or web center helps to achieve the same
3) If we write the mobile content using WML itself then what are the issues?
To set up the policies for huge number of devices seems to be quite tedious by Volantis and would like to know your views for the same
Regards
-Amar

Thanks guys for your replies.
As I understand, mobileaware is like an application which is running on your mobile device compared to mobile independent website. These are two different things where we are exposing an application on the device or exposing the site on a device!!
As I mentioned earlier, would like to understand more how do you configure policies for a device using oracle bea suite. Do you need to define the content specific to the device or there are some automatic rendering engines provided by oracle web logic.
Further what are the key benefits of oracle weblogic compared to volantis which is opensource and free.
Will look forward to hear more around this.
Thanks!

  • How do I stop firefox from showing mobile content on my desktop

I was wondering if anyone could assist me with this problem. Firefox shows mobile content on my desktop (such as going to Yahoo Sports page) instead of desktop content on my desktop. I have tried clearing cookies and c ache, and that has not solved my problem. Thanks in advance!

Oh, Yahoo! might have stored its decision in a cookie, or in a cached file. You probably need to clear those again. You've done it before, but just for reference:
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Can a J2ME application download a mobile content to the handset?

    Hi, I'm a newbie here.
I've a question about whether the J2ME application can be implemented to trigger a Http download via OTA to download a mobile content. let's say using the J2ME application, the user can actually download a MP3 by selecting the option on the application screen, from the content server to the user handset's folder.
I know that another alternative way is to use platform request to trigger the handset's wap browser to do the downloading, however I'd like the user to do all the things with only one J2ME application.
Please help, any information is very much appreciated.

    Hi JunJie
I'm also new so don't expect any code snippets from me. But from what I've read both on the forums here and elsewhere --
Yes, your midlet should be able to read in a mp3 file from a web server, the best wy to find out is just to TRY but your MIDlet will be able to access the phone's file system only if it's digitally signed. To the best of my knowledge, obtaining a digital signature would cost you at least US$ 199.
rms has a limit of 200 kB per application, so you can't save it there either.
One way out might be to download the file and then transfer it to a listening PC application via bluetooth.
Don't know whether you would get an 'Out of memory' error if the mp3 is fairly large.
    Wish you luck, Darryl

  • Content delivery server

    hi,
can i clear the cache of the sun java content delivery server.

error 500 means that "something" went wrong in the servlet or JSP that was being executed, an exception occured. If this is all that it is displaying then you will never find out what "it" is, unless you have some additional logging somewhere that you can take a look at. Normally this page comes accompanied with a java stacktrace pointing you to the error.

  • Content delivery in portal based on user roles ?

    Portal Server new bee...
Please can anyone point me to guides/url where i can look to enable content delivery in a portal based on user roles and how to establish SSO.
I have installed Portal Server6.0 and iplanet Directory Server Management Edition installed.
I did go through PS Development guide and got some sample containers up and running in the portal.
    Thanks.

For the role-based delivery, Comment 1 sends you in the right direction. Here are a couple things to keep in mind as you read through the customization guide.
The basic gist of what you need is to define your organization profiles with all the services defined at the org level. Then you can define simple profiles at the role level. These will probably focus around the selected and available attributes on the table containers.
Then you might want to pay particular attention to the merge, lock, and propogate attributes. These will allow you to define how the role affects the availability of channels (does the role add, remove, or force the channel?). The easiest thing to do is probably to start with a core group of channels, and then have each role define additional channels that are of interest and should be added to the selected/available lists.
Having roles remove channels will make matters a little more confusing and harder to maintain.

  • Content Delivery Service

I keep getting a message on my Idea K1 that I should Force Close the Content delivery service. Dont know why this is happening. Would appreciate any help in this respect
    Ross

By reboot, I mean pressing the power button until it powers down, then once more to power it up again. Like turning a desktop off and on again.
A Google search suggests that "Content delivery Service" belongs to the process "com.mobihand.cds", which is the functionality behind the "Lenovo App Shop" app. (It apparently runs in the background, even if you never use the Lenovo App Shop.) This app is indeed built in, so restarting should reload a fresh copy of it.
Going back to factory settings might be a next step, if the above doesn't work, BUT you will lose any data you haven't backed up.
The Lenovo App Shop is either closed or will close very soon, so I don't know what else to suggest.

  • Automatic Publich content in Sun Content Delivery Server

    Hi,
Can any one please provide me with the solution of this,
When we submit some content through Content provider to Catalog Manager in SUN Content Delivery Server the contents are validated automatically but the Catalog Manager Admistrator has to manually change the status of content to published so that it is avilable to the vender manager and hence subscriber.
Can we change the configuration such that when content is submitted it will be validated as well as automatically published by the Catalog Manager with out any mannual administrator intervention.
    thanks

I am sorry if i have posted my question in the wrong forum as the name suggest its a Content delivery Server which hosts contents which can be accesed by the sudscribers.

What is the best tool to deliver Web content authoring within the SAP Netweaver '04 Portal ? From what we understand "native" content is very limited !

  • Content delivery - using JSP

I am trying to render content stored in BEA default repository using a JSP. Can you someone please provide some info on what JSP tags to use?
    Thanks in advance,
    VJ

    VJ,
    Take a look at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs92/cm/developCM.html
These are the primary CM tags (cm:getNode, cm:search, etc)
You may also wish to consider using the personalization tags (pz:contentSelector, etc) or display templates (dt:displaytemplate)
One easy way to find docs is to go to edocs.bea.com and put some keywords in the header search field. (such as 'CM tags')

  • DMS Content Delivery Report

    Dear experts,
I have DMM version 5.2.2 and managed 170 DMPs. Last Friday I did the deployment package through schedulling. From 170 DMPs, There area about 23 DMPs failed .
    Question :
    1. Can DMM generate report for successfull and failed deployment package process ? as far as i know DMM have a proof of play feature that can generate report only for presentation.
    2. in administration page, there is live event monitor windows, is this windows only show log currently happened or historically log?
Really appreciate for your help, Thank you.
    Regards,
    Rian

Delivery reports only accompany iMessages, which are messages sent to/from other Apple devices using some medium that supports iMessage (WiFi, some but not all cellular carriers).
Standard SMS text messages do not offer delivery reports.

  • Content delivery network vs. static HTML

    Hey everyone,
I just finished my first animation project in Adobe Edge Animate. Excellent! Now I want to publish my banner ad.
When I go to publish the ad, I have the choice (in publish settings) of Frameworks via CDN or Publish as static
HTML. I typically deliver my ads to a newspaper who hosts the ads for me. I would assume I need to save as
CDN as opposed to static HTML. Is this correct?
    matt

    Hey, Matt-
For Animate 1.5, yes, jQuery served off of Google's servers, but it is browser-independent.  Think of Google as just another webserver in this case.  For Animate CC, jQuery is served off of Google's servers and the Animate runtime is served off of Adobe's servers.  All of this should be available regardless of what browser you use.
Regarding the glow filter, CSS Filters are only supported by Webkit-based browsers.  Firefox is not a Webkit-based browser (whereas Chrome and Safari are), so filters are not supported.
    http://caniuse.com/#feat=css-filters
Remember that the down-level stage (where you would post your poster image) is only displayed in browsers that do not support Animate content in general (mostly IE6-8), not just support or not support particular features that Animate makes available to the user.  Most people have gotten around this by using transparent PNGs to fake the glow to make the animation as cross-browser as possible.  While this is unfortunate, there's not much we can do to get out and push the browser's implementation of this standard.
Hope that helps clarify things for you!

  • Content delivery service VS. network cache

    hi,
Ps clarify what's differences between content delviery service and network cache?
    difei

    Hi,
I gather you are talking about the ACNS software that has both the ecdn and caching application on it? He is an explanation of both applications.
    ECDN
The ECDN is an application that pre-positions content at the network edge. This is done using a management GUI. The content is managed from a device called a CDM (Content Delievery Manager). The content is first loaded onto the CDM and then scheduled for distrubution to the edge nodes (CE Content Engines).
When the content is requested, a http request is sent to the CDM and the CDM decides which edge node to send the client to to serve the content. This is done on source IP of the http request. When the CDM works out the closest node the CDM issues a http 302 redirect to the client with the address and a special url to the CE that is closest to the client that has the content.
The CDM is configured with coverage zones for each CE (IP address ranges each CE can serve) and uses this to make a choice to which CE is going to serve the content.
Please see this url for more in-depth information
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/uce/acns41/ecdn41/chap1.htm
    CACHING
Caching is different in that we do not manage it centrally, we do not pre-position content (althought this can be done with pre-loading), we do not use a central point to determine which cache to use.
Caching is done in one of 2 ways. Transparent or Proxy.
For an explanation of these please see the following URL.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/uce/acns41/cnfg41/index.htm
With caching we take the users request to the internet and proxy it. When the request come back when then cache it (if it is cachable) and send the request back to the client. Depending on if we are running transparent or proxy depends on the protocols that we can proxy/cache.
This url will explain it in more detail.
