Mobile: fullscreen vs StageDisplayState

Can someone explain to me what the difference is between <fullscreen>true</fullscreen> and StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE, and how these should be used?
Testing on an Android Nexus 4 it seems to be that:
StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE hides the status bar at the top.
<fullscreen>true</fullscreen>  hides the status bar at the top and initially reduces navigation buttons to dots, when they are touched they become full icons and stay that way.
Questions:
Is this the only notable fullscreen behavior on Android?
What is the behavior on iOS?
Is there any way to return to the initial state of <fullscreen> (with the navigation buttons reduced to dots) from AS3?
Thanks!
-Aaron

And let me add, I HATE the term Fullscreen.
Just one more way the TV/Film industry is convincing the uninformed public that Widescreen movies are wrong. The black bars are wrong. I don't want a widescreen TV, because then I won't be able to view fullscreen.
Almost as bad as the EDTV moniker on cheap sets.
I don't know. I have an HD 16:9 plasma. All my Widescreen DVDs fill the screen nicely. Is there something wrong?
Idiots.
Sorry, quick rant on stupid marketingspeak. If you want to move the public forward into buying an widescreen TV, don't call those DVDs Fullscreen. Call them Cropped, or Edited, or Altered.

  • Browser Window Fullscreen

    dcr on html.
    i would like to change browser window fullscreen.
    like "StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN" in ActionScript 3.0.
    please teach me.

    F11 key hit can browser window fullscreen.but. The user pushes the button, and I want to make it to fullscreen,like "StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN" in as3.
    I think this ability is unique to the Flash Player and that the Shockwave Player simply can't do it. If you make a Flash movie fullscreen in the browser and use the Alt + TAB key combination (in Windows) to see what other windows are open, there is an instance of the Adobe Flash Player independent of the browser, and if you TAB to another window it is closed - this is the fullscreen representation of the Flash movie. Even if you messaged a Flash movie in the same page to do this, I expect that all you'd get would be the Flash movie occupying your entire screen with the browser (and Shockwave) left as-is. I think the best you'll get is for your Shockwave movie to scale to fit as much real-estate as is available in the browser window.

  • Air app on Android fullscreen

    I'm building an AIR mobile app for android >= 4.0. I must be missing something or doing something wrong because no mater that i do, i can't get the fullscreen working rigth.
    The tablet bottom bar always shows up. In current version the bar only shows 3 dots and have somekind of alpha but it doesn't allow me to draw above it or below it.
    In my app description XML i have:
    <initialWindow>
    <aspectRatio>landscape</aspectRatio>
    <renderMode>direct</renderMode>
    <autoOrients>false</autoOrients>
    <fullScreen>true</fullScreen>
    </initialWindow>
    And the bar is still there
    Tried set the fullscreen to false and then:
    stage.fullScreenSourceRect = new Rectangle(0,0,1280,768);//Capabilities.screenResolutionX, Capabilities.screenResolutionY);
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
    No effect... the damn bar is still there.
    Using FB 4.7, Air 3.8 and -swf-version=21
    Any help or a pillow to put between the head and the wall would be very apreciated!!
    Thanks

    The same here... I tried this:
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
    stage.showDefaultContextMenu = false;
    and:
    <fullScreen>true</fullScreen>
    but it doesn't work.
    I have rooted device (Tracer OVO 1.2 tablet, Android ICS 4.0.3) with three physical (touchable) navigation buttons on the right side.
    Using Flash CS6, Air 3.9.
    I'm sure it's possible because other apps and games run in fullscreen like a charm.
    Is ANY way (maybe third party apps) to get rid of that damn staus bar?

  • The Xperia Z1 is the best mobile device I have owned so far.....but for one annoying flaw.....

    OK, I have owned the Z1 for around 6 months now, and I have LOVED the product...I more or less have no complaints, and its become pretty much my favorite electronic device, except for my gaming PC : D
    I use it day in day out, listen to the radio, watch video, surf the web, exepriment with all kinds of the incredible apps, and of course, play games (and it will be gaming that my comment is primarily about)
    Thing is....gaming on the Xpeia Z1 is a GOOD experience....excellent GPU performance (though it gets HOT! ...really noticeably HOT..not warm....**bleep** it gets hot! : D), great screen, great sound with headphones (though the headphones jack tends to get in the way when holding the unit in landscape), and if playing without headphones, I find my hand covers the speaker and totally muffles the sound!
    These are just small niggles, but nevertheless, things I notice, that I would desire to be slightly changed if I had the chance, but I realise they are issues with the hardware and design, so Im happy to wait unitl I get my next phone (likely the Xperia that comes out in 18 months when my contract is up!) and see how they are dealt with through the evolution of the series.
    These are just mega picky things Ive noticed in an otherwise perfect design (for me....just my opinion).
    However...the only thing that REALLY REALLY REALLY ticks me off, is a software issue....that has apparently been dealt with via the 'Immersive Mode' feature in Kitkat 4.4.4 (which I am running on my Xperia)....
    That is the 'Soft keys' not disapearing in games, and taking up quite a large chunk of screen real estate.....in a very annoying place that depending on the game, can even quite easily be accidentally touched, kicking the unwary user out of the game,! (ARRRGHHH!)
    Now I realise that proper support for 'Immersive mode' is actually up to the developers (am i right in thinking this?) and I have tried a couple of games that advertise support, and its all well and good, and works fine, also my comic book reader supports it, and so I get ALL my screen for books (rarely, I use HDX for that), documents and comics....and of course the built in video player has seemingly ALWAYS supported complete fullscreen without these **bleep** buttons getting in the way....
    And its such a GREAT screen too....does anyone know exaclty WHY it is, that the Xperia series in particular sacrifices so much screen to these buttons while gaming?
    All games Ive tried have the 'Top Bar' (with battery, signal and time etc..nto sure what its called officially)...automatically hidden..so why not the 'bottom bar?'..the menu keys? Especially since the strip of screen is so HUGE!!
    To show 3 **bleep** buttons!
    What really makes me wonder, is that even my Kindle Fire HDX (which I use primarily for actualy reading books/newspaper/articles) and that I consider an 'inferior' device  in most respects..actually has a 'hide soft keys' feature...where in games and apps the 3 buttons and strip of screen are replaced by a very small and unobtrusive little tab...that you simply swipe out to expose the keys....
    A GREAT solutuion!
    Why isnt there something like this on the Xperia series?
    I have deliberately explained myself fully here because I have become very frustrated wth this just recently,  as I have been playing a lot of the brilliant games by the developer RORTOS...that makes impressive flight simulator games....games that (Particularly F-18 Carrier landings Pro 2) cannot run very well on my Kindle FIre HDX....
    They play beautifully smoothly while maxed out on the Z1 though....(and the same goes for GTA Vice City, that I have been enjoying playing again on mobile on the way to work every morning : D...thanks Sony and Rockstar for a great start to my workday xD)
    BUT these great games are being MARRED quite badly by those DAMNED BUTTONS!!
    In F18 Carrier Landings Pro 2 and Airfighters (2 RORTOS games that are really superb if you like flight sims) several controls are positioned at the edge of the screen...and the soft keys are right in the way...so they are functionally gettiing in the way...
    and whats more, they ruin the original design philosophy of the Xperia Z1...the design philosophy of 'OmniBalance'..because the game image is not equidistant from the left  AND the right side...but shunted one side or the other, because of these **bleep** buttons!
    (I hope I have explaiend this, and you can picture what I mean...it really irritates me : D)
    Yes I am aware of a few apps that are available, both root and non root solutions.. but I have found them all too imperfect...just not good enough, too clunky, too much configuring and messing around to get them to work...and even then they have too much impact on other functions to be worth it for me...since i do use my Z1 for a LOT of different things.....
    The ones Ive tried are fine as kind of Dev Tools...but I really love the overall design of the Z1...and I like to KEEP it beautiful and slick to use...as slick as it looks...(yep, I like the cosmetics so much, I cant even bring myself to keep it in a case xD...I just have to be careful with it...and its hardly got a scratch so far...just a few hairline type ones : (....
    So...can Sony please add a little feature, like the small tab that I mention above on the Kindle Fire HDX, to hide those keys?
    I have messaged RORTOS about them supporting Immersive mode fully, and they said they would look into it (of course they said that!), bur that most devices these days ALREADY hide the soft keys in games...and in my experience, thats true!
    Out of 5 or 6 devices Ive played games on, i have to say that the Xperia series is easily the most effected by this issue.
    and its ANNOYING as **bleep**...and I KNOW Im not the only one that thinks this...but I havent found an official Sony response (or indeed Android or Developer one) about what is likely to be done.
    So does anyone have any news?
    Does anyone know why one of the best screens and best GFX performers in a mobile device is still suffering from the soft keys being present at all times in games?....(except every now and then Ive noticed the keys are slightly camoflaged, as white dots....the strip of screen is still taken up, but the actual key icons are reduced to white dots (anyone else seen this?) but this just seems to happen randomly......sometimes it does that, mostly it does NOT...and besides, its not a real solution anyway...since a chunk of screen is STILL used up by it....
    Please Sony, you use a custom Android,  just liek Amazon do on the Kindle Fire HDX (though admittedly, not quite SO customised xD), and THEY can hide these keys without immersive Mode support...
    Why cant Sony?
    rant over...
    I still totally love the phone..Im only going off on one like this because I love everything else about it...but this one thing I think is actually a pretty big deal.....so please address it ..
    Please?
    All the ebst
    jim.
    (PS I am also really harrassing RORTOS about supporting Immersive Mode too....if ALL the Devs supported it, then this wont be an problem (I suppose anyway?)....but Im not sure if there is an issue about how many people are actually USING KitKat 4.4.4...I would guess a LOT but perhaps not quite enough to make a special effort for?....anyway...Im not just picking on Sony : D)
    rant really over.....for now.....

    You had to have some kudos for the effort put in to your thread as week as the point you make.

  • How to set a background image to fill the entire screen on any device in a spark mobile application

    Hi,
    I started developing a mobile application with Flex.
    I'm trying to set a background image to fill the whole screen. I've been stucked at this point for days now. I tried everything and no solution seems to work for me.
    I'm using a TabbedViewNavigatorApplication and i need to set some background images on views.
    I need my image to fill the entire screen on any device. i don't need to mantain image aspect ratio,  just need it to be fullscreen. This seemed to work when setting a custom skin on the TabbedViewNavigatorApplication, however this blocked all my views for some reason and all components contained in view became invisible.
    Can you please tell me how can i achieve this?
    Kind regards,
    Dan

    Basically you need a larger image which can accommodate any device. The trick is to show only what each device can display, so therefore some clipping will occur based on device. Have something centered and towards margins have a  gradient or just plane colors that way the stuff in the middle will be visible on every device while nobody will care if you are clipping from the color fill.

    Has this always been the case for you or did you update recently and it started happening?  There appears to be some sort of conflict with some machines and new changes to the kernel to allow quicker mode setting.  See http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 47#p659347.  I had to add !radeon to my MODULES list in /etc/rc.conf to get X to even work at all.  I don't run anything that uses OpenGL so I don't know if it'll address your issue.
    You may also want to take a look at http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 20#p662920 and add intel_agp radeon (that's two modules, in that order) to your MODULES list.
    Well, I was having the graphical corruption issue in that first thread until I added the nomodeset boot flag. As for the modesetting, I think it directly conflicts with my boot flag, and without it, I get corruption. =/

  • How can I make my whole site in fullscreen (API) mode, not just the opening page?

    I'm building a site that consists only of static pages, no scrolling, and I want the whole site to be in fullscreen mode. I know it's not good manners on the internet to have a whole site in this mode but it's a site with art and music and I really have a reason to have it this way.
    I've been doing a lot of searching and I've got the fullscreen API to work for me, but just on that one particular page. I want it to stay fullscreen even when I go to another page on the site.
    Maybe I've been doing this wrong somehow and the script is supposed to work that way but I've not been able to make it work.
    Thanks in advance
    db

    Thanks so much for your quick replies.
    The thing is I designed the site and tested it on a lot of different screen resizer plugins and it looked good.
    What I did not count on was the space you lose with the dock. The content just gets too small on a 1366x768 for example.
    Nancy, with "This allows content to fit the available viewport.", you mean the browser window? I've already built it that way.
    Jon, ok so I was right about the API not working on whole sites then but it does have the the opputunity to make a single page fullscreen though.
    Though I want the fullscreen mode on IE as well, I don't think the interface elements take that much space on windows computers and
    maybe I won't have to use fullscreen there. This site is also not designed to work on mobiles so no issue there.
    I have been thinking about some alternatives:
    1. Some kind of workaround that you mention Nancy, but I haven't found any.
    2. Have the visitors push a key to get into fullscreen but it seems that there is no equivalent to the F11 on mac, just different shortcuts for
        different browsers. Or have I missed something here?
    3. Make the next page open up in an iframe but it just slows down the loading of the page.

  • How can I prevent the softKeyboard from going full screen in landscape mode on mobile app?

    When I put an Input TextField on stage in an ActionScript Mobile project and click on it, the softkeyboard comes up but behaves differently when in portrait or in landscape.  In portrait, the softkeyboard comes up and allows me to edit my field without hiding.  In Landscape, the softkeyboard goes into fullscreen mode and I can no longer see my app in the background.  I would like for Landscape mode to bring up the softkeyboard but not overlay my app with a text area.  Is there a way to configure this?

    My app runs in landscape and I hated the default Android behavior so I used a heavily customized virtual keyboard instead. It's a bit slow but it works:

  • Switch to fullscreen in a desktop app which is running windowed

    I have a desktop application that runs with a transparent masked border, so since it's not a fullscreen application i have <fullScreen>false</fullScreen> in the app descriptor. BUT I'd like to be able to switch to fullscreen mode in some instances. I try to do so with:
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
    But this doesn't seem to work. The app is still not fullscreen after issuing that line. I suppose it's because of the descriptor, but if I set  <fullScreen>true</fullScreen> the app will start fullscreen, which I don't necessarily want (usually it's a windowed application with transparent chrome).
    So is this possible?
    Thanks!

    I have a desktop app using <fullScreen>false</fullScreen> in the app descriptor and have no problems switching between fullscreen mode or windowed mode just by setting stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE; or stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.NORMAL;
    There may be something else at play causing the fullscreen mode to fail.

  • Presentatsion with videos, can't get it working on fullscreen.

    Hi
    Happy new year guys:)
    I made a flash presentatsion and because i'm using FlashEff components it has to be in as3. I'm a total newbie in coding, particularly in as3. I have made my presentatsion in as3 before and got everything working fine. This time my presentation contains videos. And this becomes a problem when going on fullscreen mode. My project size is 1024x768, I made a html and use a brauser to open it. I wan't my project to go fullscreen so that there aren't borders.
    If the stage goes fullscreen i don't want my movies to go fullscreen. When playing a video on fullscreen mode everything just goes black. Soo finally i figured out that i have to tell the videos not to scale.
    My project is set up as follows:
    1. MAIN TIMELINE
    On the first layer i have all the frames converted to movieclips and inside each movieclip is the content.
    On the as layers first frame i have this code. This is for navicating on the presentatsion slides with arrow keys.
    stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, goNextFrame);
    function goNextFrame(event:KeyboardEvent):void
    if (event.keyCode == Keyboard.UP)
    this.nextFrame();
    stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, goPrevFrame);
    function goPrevFrame(event:KeyboardEvent):void
    if (event.keyCode == Keyboard.DOWN)
    this.prevFrame();
    2. INSIDE THE MOVIECLIP
    On each slide there is some content that is called with a mouse click.
    //On the fist frame
    bg_mc2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSlide);
    bg_mc2.buttonMode = true;
    function playSlide(event:Event):void
    play();
    //On the last frame
    stop();
    bg_mc2.mouseEnabled = false;
    I have tried so many fullscreenmode - don't scale the video codes.
    I have tried so many ways but every time i play a video i get the typeerror 1009 Can't access a property of method.
    What does this mean?

    Hi
    Happy new year guys
    I managed to get the flvs on fullscreen and running. This code prevents it from taking over the screen: myPlayer.fullScreenTakeOver = false;. But when i try to move this code(keyframe) along with the flv(keyframe) farther, the code doesn't work anymore. Why is that? This is really a problem, beacause i have some animation before the video starts to play.
    For going fullscreen i found this toggle on/off button code
    function toggleFullScreen(event:MouseEvent):void
    if (this.stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN)
    this.stage.displayState=StageDisplayState.NORMAL;
    else
    this.stage.displayState=StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, toggleFullScreen);
    function onFullScreen(fullScreenEvent:FullScreenEvent):void
      var bFullScreen=fullScreenEvent.fullScreen;
      if (bFullScreen)
      else
      this.textField.text=this.stage.displayState;
    myButton.stage.addEventListener(FullScreenEvent.FULL_SCREEN, onFullScreen);
    But i get this error
    TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

  • How to use interactive-fullscreen instead of fullscreen in Spark videoPlayer?

    Hi All,
    I'm trying the new videoPlayer component in Flash builder and want to use it in AIR application.
    When i press the fullscreen button i get into regular fullscreen (with no keyboard).
    Is there a way i can get into interactive fullscreen when pushing the videoPlayer fullscreen button?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lior

    Have a look at the code for the VideoPlayer.as its not that straight forward to override the behaviour.
    fullScreenButton_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void (line 1808 in latest sdk)
    there is a note inside the source - maybe raising a request on the adobe bug site for the SDK would be a good idea..
               // FIXME (rfrishbe): Should we make this FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE if in AIR?
                systemManager.stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN; (line 1872)

  • Help about importing files and fullscreen mode

    Hi,
    sorry but i'm kinda new about this. I'm creating a kiosk for my company which uses a touchscreen PC like what you see in the malls right now i.e directory. Im using flash cs5 and AS3. My problem is when I imported video / swf file in my stage (which is in full screen when loaded in projector), the video / swf file automatically change to full screen also. What I like to do is even if my window is in full screen mode, the video will still be the same what I set it to be. For you to imagine what im doing is in my homepage, my buttons would be video/swf files placed side by side. Once I click on one video it will go to another scene just like a website. I tried to google about this but no luck, all i find is how to import. These are the codes i used to load my project in fullscreen mode automatically.
    var main:Stage = this.stage;
    main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
    main.align = StageAlign.TOP;
    main.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    Hope you can help me on this. Thanks in advance for those who will help.
    Thank you
    -Arjae

    thanks andrei. but it still doesn't solve my problem.
    var main:Stage = this.stage;
    main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    //main.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
    main.align = StageAlign.TOP;
    main.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    as u have said, i remove scale_fit line but still in full screen. when I run s swf file the video automatically converted to full screen. what i only want to make full screen is the stage where the video is located. is there some command i need to do on this? I tried to use this using AS2 and its ok, the video didn't go full screen even the stage itself is in fullscreen. but i really want to use AS3 because of some features. If you can help, it will be great. Thanks lot!

  • FB 4.7 Mobile

    I am currently using FB 4.7 with AIR 3.4 and 3.5 (both tested). (just starting with FB4.7 moving from 4.6)
    When I run the application or AIR Simulator, iOS Simulator and android device, the app Y position does not start on 0.
    It reports it on 0 (in the trace) but the app is several pixels below.
    Here is a screen shot of a text field at 0,0
    code is simple:
    package
        import flash.display.Sprite;
        import flash.display.StageAspectRatio;
        import flash.events.Event;
        import flash.system.Capabilities;
        import flash.text.TextField;
        import flash.text.TextFormat;
        public class SimulationTest extends Sprite
            public function SimulationTest()
                super();
                var appInfo:String = String(stage.fullScreenWidth + " , " + flash.system.Capabilities.screenResolutionX);// flash.system.Capabilities.version;
                trace(appInfo);
                trace(this.x + " , " + this.y);
                var text:TextField = new TextField();
                text.x = 0;
                text.width = 100;
                text.y = 0;
                var tf:TextFormat = text.defaultTextFormat;
                tf.size = 24;
                text.defaultTextFormat = tf;
                text.text =  appInfo;
                addChild(text);
    I tried adding a sprite or a movieclip at 0,0 and same result.
    I also tried with <fullScreen> true and false
    and also <requestedDisplayResolution> high and standard.
    Anything else I might be doing wrong?

    opening an Actionscript mobile project in FB 4.6 sets the stage scaling and alignment:
    stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    By default 4.7 does not do that and that was my weird error
    I feel a bit dumb though and tahnks for your time.

  • No fullscreen? Seriously???

    Is there any feature more standard on any software intended to display anything? Is there any activity less in need of a GUI than reading a book?
    This software is sorely lacking in options to make PDFs adaptable to the wide variety of displays likely to be used for leisure reading, rendering the whole value of retaining the original  page layout moot. The lack of rotation means that the obvious orientation desired for small, widescreen laptops must be supplied by a third party, and the persistence of the GUI means that 1/4 of the display area is wasted for a typical hardcover in full-page view on such a device, leaving some texts effectively unreadable (I for one don't find panning, scanning and scrolling very immersive).
    What's more, it requires too many operations to reach the point where you're actually reading a book. With FBReader (not a competitor, as it can't read DRM), it's four keystrokes and maybe 20 seconds from sleeping laptop to fullscreen and ready-to-read. With ADE, I have to maximize the window, close the left pane, and rotate my desktop each and every time.
    This software was clearly designed for managing the DRM, with reading as an afterthought, most likely by people who have never read an ebook in their lives. Small-scale laptops and tablets are the only mobile devices capable of displaying these files faithfully, and Adobe has completely failed to support them.

    Yes would have to agree. We have gotten used to simple full screen or detailed views with pdf viewers and Adobe is no stranger to displaying them. It does appear that the publishers legal department were the primary users in mind when the functionality was being agreed.
