Mobile Recovery

I took out the TEP when i bought my S3's. I see that to lock your phone or locate it should it be lost, stolen, misplaced, etc. it can be located with the TEP app from Verizon. Verizon says it's a $1.00 mor per month per phone. Mobile Recovery says it's included. Who's right? Is there a free app that is as good or better? What makes Verizon better if anything?
Thanks,
Thomas

I never heard of a charge for that option from Verizon but I use Kaspersky that has the same feature included with the apps purchase.  There is a number of apps with this feature, some free some at a charge but I view this as a feature that needs constant updating to keep data and device secure so I am open to pay for the service.
If Verizon has the option for a 1.00 a month that sounds far and would consider that option.
Here is the site for Mobile Recovery and from their site I do not see a option to be charged, you may want to read their terms of service and see what if the correct answer for this...   https://www.mymobilerecovery.com/public/verizon/index.html

whoever its from i got a text saying i was elidgeable for this because i had the most expensive insurance but i open the text open the link download the app and open the app and after all that it keeps saying device not recognized??? anyone know whats up

The offer is valid and legitimate.
Asurion, which is the company which covers Verizon's Total Equipment Coverage insurance, released a tracking/lockdown app back when the DX was still running 2.1. Mobile Recovery will locate your phone by GPS, send an alert tone to find a misplaced device, lock down or wipe the phone if it's stolen. The web site will also let you file a claim.
The initial version stopped working on FroYo. Asurion released an updated copy today around 11:30 PDT/14:30 EDT.
They have been alerting TEC subscribers by SMS. **bleep** way to do it, but it's legitimate.
    You can get it here:

It couldn't hurt to download a fresh link.

  • Mobile Recovery App DROID X Unrecognized Device

    Here we go again.
Asurion released their Mobile Recovery app with Android 2.1. The software permitted users to find their phones from Asurion's web page or even file a claim against loss. However, when MotoRizon updated the DX to Froyo, the program failed to recognize the device. MotoRizon/Asurion left its mobile app users in the lurch for several weeks until Asurion finally made the Froyo DX "recognizable" to their software.
We have the same situation now. The company contracted under Verizon to insure your phone sends out the same "device unrecognized" message when you try to open the app under GB.
I haven't tried to call Verizon on this issue; I don't have 3 hours to waste on the phone. Last time I talked to them about my community forum account here, they couldn't figure out which department handles the web operations. I can only imagine the runaround buck pass I'll get about Asurion.
It would seem that Verizon bears some responsibility for this situation. Asurion insures Verizon's devices, and Verizon offers the software as a service. So wouldn't it make sence to communicate with Asurion ahead of the rollouts to make sure their devices will work under the new OS? And why does Asurion demand "recognition" from the device itself? Isn't the fact I have paid insurance on my phone enough? My device has to prove its provenance, too? **bleep**?
    Just a thought.
I decided to buy into SeekDroid to lock/wipe/locate/recover my phone. It cost a little more, but they cover any phone, not just recognized devices.

    Once more into the breach

I understand why this issue would be frustrating, and want to provide you some information to assist you. I don't want you to feel like you are getting the runaround. Mobile Recovery is made by Asurion's engineering department. We try to partner with our vendors and providers to resolve issues that arise with updates. I will submit this to our product team to see what we can do to help resolve this issue. I would recommend also posting this to the Mobile Recovery support forum.

  • No notification about Mobile Recovery

If I am paying for TEC through Asurion why was I not informed about the Mobile Recovery app?  This seems like an excellent service, but I had to discover it was available to me by stumbling upon it while doing research for a paper.
Does anyone know more about this app? Any known issues with using it?
Seems like a good idea to activate it if you are already paying for access to it.  The ability to remotely lock and wipe your phone is essential these days IMHO.
    Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry and we are sorry you were not informed. You as a customer if you are enroll in TEC (Total Equipment Coverage) and have a compatible Smartphone, you should have received a text message to your device for the Mobile Recovery enrollment  with details for obtaining the application.  To download the Mobile Recovery Application, please access the following link and follow the prompts:  https://www.mymobilerecovery.com/public/verizon/get_started.html

I've had the same problem. Updated my iPhone 3GS this morning and the home button on the phone stopped working and voice control app kept popping up. Restored my phone & now it deleted everything but says it can't restore it because it's stuck in "recover mode". Please help.

  • Is there any way to get photos off of my iPhone 4 that won't turn on?

A couple of weeks ago my iPhone 4, running on iOS 7, decided to stop working.  It just shut off all of a sudden, and wouldn't turn back even if it was plugged into a computer.  It would just say that it was an iPhone in recovery mode, and that it needed to be restored.  I would be okay with doing this, however I recently went on a big trip and took hundreds of photos on this trip with my phone, and I mistakenly did not back up my iPhone since this trip.  I was wondering if there was any way to get these pictures off of my phone myself, and if not if there is any way that the people at the apple store could help me?
    Thank you!

  • Help....  Restore keeps having an error after iOS7 update

Tried updating my phone last night, but before doing so i did i back up...
After doing the backup i downloaded the iOS7 and during the update the phone had and error, then when i tried to restore from backup it keeps saying error when trying to restore, backup file may be corrupt.
Checked the backup with EaseUS mobile recovery, seems that all the contact and data are there but how can i restore this properly using itunes?
    Anyone?

Using a recovery program, as a free trial, I see that all the files (contacts, notes, pictures, etc..) are all there...  would there be anything that it can be salvaged?  Doubt the backup is a complete write off, since the error originally started from download the new iOS version....

  • Phone location app

Has anyone used the mobile recovery app by Asurion? If so have you experienced anything unusual or problems with your phone? I installed the app and shortly after that 3 false phone claims were made in my name. Just wondering if it was a coincidence  or not.
The app is free and tracks your phone, it will also wipe it remotely if it can not be retrieved.

    Wildman wrote:
I use Lookout to locate my device, I installed and setup mobile recovery app by Asurion and decided I preferred Lookout over the app and did not want to run both of them on my device so I uninstalled it but it seems that doesn't stop Asurion app from tracking my device, I keep getting emails reporting my location when I never requested for it to locate it and I can not seem to figure out how to stop this, I have reinstalled and looked for option on app and also tried website with no luck.
I was really concerned about this since I could not figure out how the scammers got the needed information(which is not very much) to file the false claims. I am considering getting rid of Asurion. I was just reading an article about Lookout and may give it a try. Have you trapped any apps that were viral?

  • Droid Razr Maxx Screen Cracked

Upgraded to the Maxx from the Droid X in April. Bought the Otter Box Commuter. Went to Verizon store in June due to poor reception (low bars) and frequent data (both WiFi and LTE) connection drops. Store rep told me it was a problem with the simm and swapped the card- no questions no charge. No improvement. Because I wasn’t actually dropping calls, I chalked it up to the phone model and didn’t go back to the store or CS regarding a replacement. BIG MISTAKE> Two days ago I made a call and put the Maxx (in the otterbox) in the front pocket of my loosely fitting shorts as I was standing in line at a store. I felt the phone vibrate as I got my food, put the tray on the table and retrieved the phone from my pocket before I sat down and the phone display would not light up. The phone was also unusually hot to the touch. I looked closer and found the inside screen cracked. There was no crushing, dropping, or impact of any kind. The phone was in the otterbox, screen side against my thigh, in my pocket. The screen has multiple cracks under the gorilla glass. I went to the Verizon store yesterday and the rep said he’d heard it about ‘digitizers’ cracking without impact before. He told me to read the forums because it’s a known issue, and then call CS about the defect because I have no insurance (didn’t think I needed it because I’m careful, I bought the case, and the Droid X was built like a sherman tank). I found many posts here and elsewhere about my issue. I called Verizon CS and to her credit the woman I spoke with was phenomenal. She explained that she would send a replacement phone. She then said she was worried about me being charged up to $300 if the phone showed signs of damage upon inspection. She told me that warranty replacements are not ALWAYS inspected thoroughly, but that an impending charge was a possibility. I was adamant the phone was defective as there was no evidence of impact on the outside glass itself. I referenced the forms here and that many people are complaining of the same issue. She told me that, if I was charged, to call back and refute it. She then proceeded to review my data usages and adjust my contract accordingly to save me about $20 per month. I agreed to the warranty replacement and new phone was shipped yesterday to arrive on 9/27 via USPS. I was informed that a box/label would be sent and I would have to mail my defective phone within 5 business days of receiving the box. I am still able to use the phone to make calls with my car’s Bluetooth. Now I am waiting for the box and new phone to arrive. I’ll send the defective one in and follow the CS rep’s advice to “keep my fingers crossed” with regard to whether or not the phone will be flagged as damaged. If so and I am charged, it will appear on my November bill. I’m hoping for the best, but dubiously expecting to make a frustrating phone call around Election Day. I figure, if I am charged the $300, I can subtract $200 due to the savings off my bill from the account adjustment. And, not having to deal with Motorola refusing to fix it will be worth the other $100. Having the phone repaired by Motorola isn’t an option because I don’t want to be without it for 2 weeks on top of the costs I would incur. I sat down and compared the Maxx to my old X and the difference is remarkable. The X case is metal and minus the Kevlar back, the Razr is plastic. If I do receive a replacement, I expect the new Maxx to break before my contract is up NEXT December. The Razr is lighter and thinner than my old X. But I can’t in good conscience upgrade to another Moto phone- warranty or not, I want a quality product for my money. My question is, has anyone with this or a similar issue had luck with a warranty replacement? What are my chances?

What you experienced is the reason i have T.E.C. on both of my Maxx's it's a little more Money that comes out of the Pocket at bill Paying time but having it kind of pays off in the Long Run..

  • Cracked iPhone screen...questions re replacement

Ok Ive had my Verizon iPhone since February...yesterday my worst iPhone fear came true...I dropped my iPhone about 4 ft onto cement in 30 degree weather... Over half the screen was really cracked...I have a 32gb so I think vzw charges a $199 deductible...so I found this shop that replaces cracked iPhone screens...he told me the labor itself would only be about $30-40 but then he looked the part price up in his book up to his iPhone 4 CDMA parts guide & mumbles something like "digitizer" & blah blah then tells me the part would cost $150...I asked him what if I brought him the part would he still did it & just charge for labor...he was very nice and said he would do that.
Then I went online & googled iPhone 4 replacement assemblys & saw them for as low as $25 the I saw some for $55ish but nowhere near $150...is there a legit reason why he would charge this price...is the what an apple OEM screen replacement assembly costs, & I was looking at all non-OEM products? What are the downsides, if any, to replacing the iPhone screen with a non-OEM..are some of the features absent, like the oleophobic coating?
So I guess my question is what does an "iPhone screen replacement" assembly include? Besides the screen itself  & a "digitizer" (not sure what that is) and how do I know which ones are trash out there & which ones are good? Would you advise any non-OEM product at all?
Please give me any info you have on screen replacement packages, & possibly where I can purchase one that won't be garbage. Oh & also if it says it is meant for CDMA model...should I assume it is going to be the glossy version?
    Thanks!

So if I'm clear here you have thus far paid $109.90 for insurance and after paying another $199, for a total of $308.90 Verizon will replace your iPhone? Or, as has already been noted you can pay $149 at an Apple Store and get a replacement with a 90 day warranty.
I have no idea why in the **** you are paying for that insurance. I would talk to a Verizon rep about it before doing anything.
when you put it that way, yeah verizon is totally screwing everyone who has iphone insurance with them
this is right from verizon wireless website:
soooooooooo laaaammmmeeee.....I love verizon...but this is clearly called "taking advantage of ignorant consumers." When I had a regular ol' phone & even up to my blackberry it was 6.99/mo for the asurion coverage and a $50 deductable if damaged or stolen, which was totally worth it, but this is not that-clearly. gouge gouge gouge....prices ever increasing....& it's only up to the consumer to keep abreast of the price hikes....

Reinstalling iTunes and my computer will not dl mobile me or apple mobile support. I went to their support online and followed some
Of their stuff to try to fix and disabled Something and it told me to restart my computer and so I did and now I can't find the page where it was giving me the directions for it bc when I disabled programs it somehow disabled to where I can't get on the Internet. My phone works fine now just don't have my numbers, music, apps, ringtones pictures etc. The problem is now my computer, iTunes, my Internet connection, and mobile me and apple mobile software.
