MobileMe Gallery sort order

When i access my MobileMe Gallery through my MacBook Air using Firefox, the sort order of the albums, and the sort order of the photos within the albums are correctly sorted just the way I want them.
However when I use ATV 2 to view my MobileMe Gallery on TV, the albums and the photos within the albums are not in the same sort order as seeing the Gallery with my computer. Any help is appreciated!

I have noticed the same thing. I have MobileMe albums set to sort by date in iPhoto, the photos are sorted by date when I view the album on various computers, including Windows PCs, they are sorted by date in the Gallery app on my iPhone, but when I look at them via Apple TV 2 over the Internet they are randomized. I have tried everything including deleting and re-uploading the albums and nothing has worked. I am hoping it is some glitch that will be fixed in the next iOS update. For me at least, it seems Apple TV gets them right if the album is really small, say less than 20 pics or so, but as soon as it gets any bigger the photos are randomized.

  • N9 Photo Gallery sort order - based on what?

    Hello,
I am thrilled with my N9, but have one problem: I want to use the phone to keep not only photos made with it. I therefore saved extra photos in the Pictures folder. They appear in the gallery, but in a weird order, not based on either the name, EXIF date, modification date or creation date. Is there a possibility to sort them on either of these? All I want is to control the sort order. After all, it is MY gallery...
On my previous phone (N8) sorting was based on the last modification date. Also not optimal (EXIF date would have been perfect) but still controllable.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, maybe those pictures were never edited outside the phone, I don't know.
Anyway, I believe I found the explanation: I exported the photos from Picasa, maxing them to a resolution of 1600xXXX. This way all files were created... today. Nevertheless the EXIF information is correctly saved by Picasa, so Date Image Taken was preserved. Although I modified in all files the creation date to be equal to EXIF Date Image Taken (ACDSee/batch/AdjustTimeStamp) , and then also renamed all pictures based on that, the "new" creation date still remains saved somewhere in the picture files and the Gallery sorts the pictures on it! The pictures were sorted in the reversed order I exported them from Picasa... Bad.
Anyway, since this is not a request forum, it would be futile to say (again) that Nokia should use the EXIF Date Picture Taken for picture sorting. So I don't say it (!).

  • .Mac Gallery sort order

Is there any way to influence the sort order of my galleries posted on .Mac? It seems the last one published is shown first, but I'd like to get them in chronological order.
    Thanks.

    Bummer. I submitted the request.
From my perspective, by trying to make the iLife apps drop dead simple, they are limiting them too much. I think it would be possible to make them as easy but also add additional features that are initially hidden.

  • Sort Order Changes Unexpectedly in iPhoto Gallery

I frequently add new images to some of my iPhoto galleries, then publish to MobileMe. When I rearrange the images in a particular gallery, the sort order sometimes changes spontaneously. Once this occurs, I have to manually restore everything to its proper place. Needless to say, this is very irritating. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?
    Thanks!

    Hello Alan,
If I understand you correctly the images will spontaneously change their order both online at me.com and in the MobileMe WebGallery within iPhoto. You may have a broken Album within iPhoto.
Try making a new MobileMe Gallery and add 50 pictures (make a few of them in an order that is distinct so you can tell if/when they move). Publish the Gallery and check the order. If its ok, add another few pictures and then check again.
Ultimately if the issue does not happen with the new album then you may want to delete the other album and re-create it (you could try rebuilding your iPhoto Library as well. See the link below).
If the issue happens with the new album as well follow http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638 to rebuild your Library. I would try using the "Rebuild iPhoto Library database..." option.
Also if you are not already I would suggest making regular backups of your computer. With Time Machine you could restore back to before this re-arranging occurs should it happen again http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553.
    Hope that helps.

  • Photoshop CS3 web gallery bugs(?); vanishing metadata, bad sort order

Running OS 1.5.4 on 24" Imac, I'm attempting to generate a "horizontal slideshow" from bridge-selected files in Photoshop CS3.
[Sounded like the problem in this post: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5a9fe/2 but on re-reading I've decided it's different so I'm giving it it's own thread, with more detail...]
    Here's my experience:
    1) Description and title show up for a second on the first slide, then revert to just the blank template on that and all subsequent slides (title: [blank] description: [blank]....
Hitting "refresh" produces the descriptive metadata for a tantalizing moment, then it' s back to the blank template for this and all subsequent slides. It does this both for Safari and Firefox.
You can view this behavior in a slideshow at http://oasisdesign.net/projects/earthtoilet/
If it asks for a password, use---
    user:earthling
    pass: draf1 )
    "preserve all metadata" is checked.
I've tried all combinations of checking/ unchecking "title, description, filename" for labeling...also, making slideshows with just one or two slides to reduce the chance that it's a weird character issue of the type some other folks have experienced...
    2) additionally, the web gallery is not respecting the manual sort order in Bridge, which is the source of the files. The help files say the slideshow should follow the manual sort order in Bridge.
    3) Finally, metadata entered in bridge metadata tab sometimes vanishes, sometimes metadata entered in file info wouldn't show in the metadata tab.
    Thanks for your help!!
    Art
BTW, here's the related issues I found:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b5a9fe/2
...After some investigation, I found that the descriptions were disappearing only for photos that had a Return / Line Break in the description. If you go back and make sure all of your descriptions are a single line, it works fine....
=Don't have line breaks, nor "and" nor &...
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bff9de1/0
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bd62ec3/0

OK...here's the hack I used to get around what I'm now totally convinced are program bugs and shortcomings relative to advertised functionality, for anyone else who has to deal with this, followed by my (suggested fixes to Adobe)...
    1) Sort everything the way you want in bridge.
    2) Make meta descriptions w/o weird characters (a warning here would be helpful)
    3) Use "batch rename," with "copy to another folder" to give the images totally plain vanilla, DOS-style file names (001.jpg, 002.jpg...). This solves most filename issues and the works around web gallery's failure to recognize bridge sort order in one go. Note that you can irrevocably screw up the names of all your original files if you're not very careful to COPY at this step.
([a] make the bridge sort work directly, as advertised, por favor. [b] add an error message or warning about file names such as 006-(2).jpg causing malfunction. A compassionate, low-effort short-term patch for Mac users of web gallery, especially since bridge generates that particular sort name itself invisibly and automatically if you move a file with the same name into a folder)
    4) Use "white on black" instead of bug-ridden "horizontal slideshow" (horizontal slideshow should be fixed or deleted from the next version...multiple slideshow options would be awesome, as they advance automatically at the max rate the user's bandwidth allows, a very attractive feature)
    5) Restrict all images to the same height so users can click *in the same spot* to advance the 200 images with less carpal tunnel (the advance arrow should *always* be in the same spot, for every web gallery, IMHO)
Web galleries are a fantastic tool for sharing information easily...I hope to see some evolution in those great automatic updates someday...

  • Mobileme gallery - pictures in wrong order?

    Hi,
I recently made a Mobileme gallery in iPhoto and published it. About 407 pictures and 2 movies.
It published, then I changed a few things, republished - and then the order of some of the pictures changed.
Just for the **** of it, I deleted 4 pictures (thinking maybe it has a 500 picture limit??) and all pictures went to the right order!
Then once or twice again, when I changed a picture or two, the order changes on a few pictures.
Very puzzling. And yes, I did refresh the Safari web page - but that didn't help.
Anyone know what's going on? Sometimes, the order of the photos is important.
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Thank you, Apearl,
Hmmmm . . . I've been so busy i almost forgot about this one! Let's see - good idea to rebuild library. I did reset Safari - but if memory serves me, I had 503 images in that library - just for the **** of it, I deleted a few of them, bringing it to 495 or so. Republished, then cleared the cache of Safari (I think) the problem solved itself. Im wondering if there is a limit of pictures of 500, and that solved it? Or maybe just republishing with a few less??
Who knows, but the problem seems to have solved itself. But thank you for confirming what I thought good procedure should be, and confirming there's nothing I've missed.
    Larry

  • MobileMe Gallery Request to server failed.

I have been trying for 3 days on 3 different computers to upload photo to mobileme gallery and I keep getting An error occurred with the publication of album "xxxxx". Request to the server failed. I can publish one picture at a time and add one picture at a time and get it to sync. I published two albums one picture at a time. I am only trying to publish about 18 pictures. I tried three different events. What to heck is going on.

Well at least the Discussion page is a place to post ones notes even if you have to answer your own questions. Here is the work around for my problem. I think it is connected to an issue with the iPad. If you sync to the iPad and you have images sorted or arranged by any option other than Version Name or Manual, the order of the photos on your ipad may not be the same as on Aperture when synced.
If I select Manual or Version Name sort in Aperture before I upload to MobileMe Gallery, the photos upload correctly. If I try to upload sorted by date, I almost always get the error listed above. I think if the version name sort is the same as the date sort, you may be able to upload without the error.

  • What happens to iMovie projects with the demise of MobileMe Gallery?

Will a new "hosting service" be able to pick up, in tact, video productions created on iMovie and published to MobileMe Gallery?
Who might be some potential "hosting services" that could guide me in an orderly and relatively painless transfer of my iMovie projects?
I'm looking for a paid service that can offer a quality presentation of my work...versuses a "just OK" free service.
Please communicate in layman's terms...I'm not particularly tech-savy.

I too am not a techie...but with the assistance of the SmugMug customer support team, I now have a very viable replacment for MobileMe when the Apple service ends in June.  All I had to do is go to iDisk where my iMovie projects currently reside and download each project to my computer, creating a file.  That file can then be uploaded to SmugMug. As with MobileMe, the publishing process (uploading) takes awhile. A six minute iMovie took about an hour.  But once in place, you can either distribute via SmugMug's broådcasting system or you can create a short version of the URL (the site address) and include that in a standard email to family and friends.
When I learned of the demise of MM...I was fearful that would be the end of my iMovie projects.  Definitely not so with the discovery of SmugMug! And like I said in the second posting above, the good folks at SmugMug are totally on top of the whole customer support thing...so you won't be out there wondering what to do next.

  • Metadata in mobileme gallery

I created a MobileMe gallery and the metadata isn't there when I look at the info tab when a picture is selected. How do I get the metadata to show up?

Go to the Settings in the Moobileme Gallery menu in Aperture. Towards the right corner of Aperture. In order for this info show, you have to select Downloading of Optimized Images. Do you want people to be able to download your photos?

  • IPhoto09 re-arranges photos in mobileme gallery.

I am working in the MobileMe gallery and iPhoto09 keeps re-arranging the photos. I attempt to sort by date/time and nothing happens. If I try to manually move the photos, the software re-adjusts them and then the captions are no longer associated with the pictures. In iPhoto08, I did not have this problem. Any ideas?

No.  Once the MMe servers were taken off line over a year ago all files were no longer available to users.

  • Updating Mobileme Gallery with iPhoto Library

I have been using my mobileme gallery to publish photos and to let my friends upload their photos as well. The problem is that when they upload their photos, I am able to see them in my Mobileme gallery, but I am not able to import them to my Library in order to update my events. Any idea of what I'm doing wrong? The only solution I've found is to create a new folder on my desktop, copying the contents of the mobileme folder and then importing them to my library through the import function. This is not a very practical solutiion and I doubt I'm doing it correctly.
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There has been numerous reports of problems with Tell a Friend and iPhoto. You can try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again but it's iffyl
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Report your problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Sharing photos via MobileMe Gallery - what alternative?

I have been sharing photos with my soon to be 80 years old mother via my MobileMe gallery, all I had to do was send her the link, while all she had to do was subscribe to my gallery in order to have the images download to iPhoto. This was easy and straightforward for her.
How should I handle this task after the discontinuation of MobileMe? PhotoStream doesn't seem to be designed for this task, and I don't want her to have to jump through too many hoops, since she still uses her computer on a beginner's level.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Sort Order in LR 2.4

I am trying to determine the best  Sort Order and allying this with the order in which my images appear on my website following a search.  It seems to me that the best result would be for the newest images to appear at the top of the list, presenting potential customers with the latest offerings.
The images I load to the website are not necessarily the latest pics that I have captured (I am trying to review lots of earlier pics).  In LR the best sort order seems to be "Edit Time".  I would like to incorporate this into my website.
So, the question is, Where is the info that can be gathered to enable this to be done?  I assume it is the IPTC Raw Data, but which line?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for a prompt reply.
I do not use LR to generate the web gallery. The website is a separate entity and I was hoping that there would be something in the Photoshop File info that the website programming could pick-up and use to do the sorting. At present the sort is on the basis of file name.
    Cheers

  • IPhoto and MobileMe gallery

Since switching from MobileMe to iCloud I am unable to add a new album to my MobileMe gallery. If I do add a new album it is removed almost immediately.
I am also unable to 'share' it from MobileMe gallery before it is removed automatically almost immediately it is put on.
Could anybody explain why and how to fix this problem.

I would like to add to this thread.  Same problems with updating to the iPhoto 11 and the "cloud".  The photo's taken on my iPhone are displaying in my "Photo Stream", I add the photo's I want from the Photo stream to my iPhoto library stored locally, and then publish the album to mobile me.
Problem is, as soon as the seldected photo's are published to mobile me I go to the "web" pane on iPhoto in order to send an email to my friends that a new album is posted.  As soon as I select "web" on the right hand selection pane in iPhoto 11, I receive the following:
iPhoto displays "The published album has been removed from Mobile me".
The album is saved from photo stream to my iPhoto album, but the selected photo's will not publish to mobile me.  This is a problem with apples new Lion OS and iPhoto 11.  One more example of how Apple has rolled out new products that are not ready.  I moved from PC to Mac 10 years ago because of this same problem with PC software, now Apple has lost its way and is putting new software on the market that just doesn't work and I suspect the OS will become irrelevant agian if the company doesn't focus on what drew customers to their platform.  So disappointed with Apple again...its becoming very common.

  • Remove photos from a MobileMe Gallery

Every time I delete or Cut a photo from one of my MobileMe Gallery albums, it comes back, and/or, it does not update the changes in my MobileMe Gallery. In one of my galleries in iPhoto I have 7 photos but in the MobileMe gallery I have 134 photos. Do I have to delete the whole gallery album and create a new one?
    Fitz

Could be a damaged library. Backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
