Modelling in BW for a table to be extracted from R/3

Hello all,
I have to load ZTable from R/3 to BW.This is master data table.
say it has fields A(Asset Class),B(Dep Area) which are keyfields and some other fields like C,D,etc...
In BW i have master data loaded already for A and master data loaded for B separately.
Now wht is the design i should do in BW?
Regards,
Dhanya.

hi,
i dont have to load attributes of A from ZTABLE.
I have to load separate data only.Itis not texts.
And i dont think ODS is  right solution as im extracting master data basically.
My concern is A(AssetClass) is alrady created in BW and has master data for it.B(Dep Area)is alrady created in BW and has master data for it.As i need now to load A(Asset class),B(Dep Area )wise data and this is master data.
I think i need to create new infoobject(Asset class) and load data for it.But i will have 2 Assetclass infoobjects in my system.is this correct.
Can u suggest any other design?
Dhanya.

    Possible ways
    1. Call fm RFC_READ_TABLE and give destination and table name ( But i am not sure how it will work SCIF enviornment of APO)

    2. Create a custom function module in APO side and call from R/3 side using destnation option

  • How to create a bc model for sharepoint 2013 that consume data from two Sql tables?

    Hi everyone!!!
    I have created several external contents using SQL Server databases as datasource. The thing is every time I created one, only consume one table and define operations for that table. I would need to create an external content that can contain the
    information of two tables. I tried to export the bdc model and type the query using left joins but nothing happens...I did it in that way for sharepoint 2007 and works!!!
    I know if a create a view in the database I can have the data that I want and I can create the external content using the view. But the thing is I don't have access to the database for creating anything, just read it.
    can anybody can help me, please?
    Thanks.

    Please follow this article to write SSRS reports with data source as SharePoint list/calendars etc. All document libraries, list and calendars are derived from base list class so you can use any of this type as a data source

    Once your SSRS report is developed, you have multiple ways to show it in SharePoint
    - upload to SSRS server and show in sharepoint in a page viewer web part or simply open it as a link in new window
    - configure SharePoint environment with integration to SSRS and upload report to SharePoint library. Display report in a web part page using SSRS web part.

  • Updating model for pivot table in af:iterator

    Using Master Detail relationship, i am trying to create multiple forms at runtime. I want to show all the forms at once. Each form has some header fields and a pivot table. Header field is coming from master table and pivot table should be made from child.
    I am using af:iterator to iterate over master table rows and show header:
    <af:iterator id="i1"
                value="#{bindings.MasterTableVO.collectionModel}" var="row"
                varStatus="index"> For pivot table, i dragged Child View Object from Data Controls to make pivot table.
    <dvt:pivotTable id="pivotTable1"
              value="#{bindings.ChildTableVO.pivotTableModel}"
              summary="pivot table" sizing="auto"
              pivotEnabled="false" drillingEnabled="false"/>                                    Now while iterating, i am not able to get updated model for pivot table. Values from Master table are being updated, but pivot table from child table showing details corresponding to the first row of master table everywhere.
    So can you please help me, how to get the updated pivot table model corresponding to the current row in parent iterator ?
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0

    Hi Aswini ,
    I didnot worked for me. I need to change the usecase a bit..
    however you can eaisly display the af:table inside iterator in readonly mode, but when you perform crud operations inline then it gives problems..
    Can you explain your usecase.

  • One model for several tables

    Hello!
    I want to use one model in two tables.That's why within Model(in getModel method) I must know what table request my Model.
    How can I do that?

  • [ADF Help] How to create a view for multiple tables

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11G and ADF framework, and trying to create a view to update multiple tables.
    ex:
    Table A has these fields: ID, Name
    Table B has these fields: ID, Address
    A.ID and B.ID are primary keys.
    B.ID has FK relationship with A.ID
    (basically, these tables have one-to-one relation)
    I want to create a view object, which contains these fields: B.ID (or A.ID), A.Name, B.Address.
    So I can execute C,R,U,D for both tables.
    I create these tables in DB, and create entity objects for these tables.
    So there are 2 entity objects and 1 association.
    Then I create a view object based on B and add fields of A into the view:
    If the association is not a "Composition Association",
    when I run the model ("Oracle Business Component Browser") and try to insert new data, fields of A can't edit.
    If the association is a "Composition Association", and click the insert button, I will get
    "oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25030: Failed to find or invalidate owning entity"
    If I create a view object based on A and add filed of B into the view:
    When I run the model and try to insert new data, fields of B can't edit, no matter the association is or is not a composition association.
    So... how can I create a view for multiple tables correctly?
    Thanks for any advices!
    Here are some pictures about my problem, if there is any unclear point, please let me know.

    Hi Branislav,
    Thanks, but the result is same ....
    In the step 2 of creating view object, I can select entity objects to be added in to the view.
    If I select A first, and then select B (the "Source Usage" of B is A), then finishing the wizards.
    When I try to create a new record in the view, I can't edit any properties of B (those files are disabled).
    If I select B first, and then select A in crating view object, the result is similar ...
    Thanks for any further suggestion.

  • Missing most detailed table for dimension tables

    Hi ,
    I am getting this following error
    Business Model Core:
    [nQSError: 15003] Missing most detailed table for dimension tables: [Dim - Customer,Dim - Account Hierarchy,Dim - Account Region Hierarchy,Fact - Fins - Period Days Count].
    [nQSError: 15001] Could not load navigation space for subject area Core.
    I got this error when I tried to configure # of Elapsed Days and # of Cumulative Elapsed Days by following way-
    1. Using the Administration Tool, open OracleBIAnalyticsApps.rpd.
    Configuration Steps for Controlling Your Data Set
    Configuring Oracle Financial Analytics 5-51
    The OracleBIAnalyticsApps.rpd file is located at:
    ORACLE_INSTANCE\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_
    obisn\repository
    2. In the Business Model and Mapping layer, go the logical table Fact - Fins - Period
    Days Count.
    3. Under Sources, select the Fact_W_DAY_D_PSFT logical table source.
    4. Clear the Disabled option in the General tab and click OK.
    5. Open the other two logical table sources, Fact_W_DAY_D_ORA and Fact_W_
    DAY_D_PSFT, and select the Disabled option.
    6. Add the "Fact - Fins - Period Days Count" and "Dim - Company" logical tables to
    the Business Model Diagram. To do so, right-click the objects and select Business
    Model Diagram, Selected Tables Only.
    7. In the Business Model Diagram, create a new logical join from "Dim - Company"
    to "Fact - Fins - Period Days Count." The direction of the foreign key should be
    from the "Dim - Company" logical table to the "Fact - Fins - Period Days Count"
    table. For example, on a (0,1):N cardinality join, "Dim - Company" will be on the
    (0/1) side and "Fact - Fins - Period Days Count" will be on the N side.
    8. Under the Fact - Fins - Period Days Count logical table, open the "# of Elapsed
    Days" and "# of Cumulative Elapsed Days" metrics, one at a time.
    9. Go to the Levels tab. For the Company dimension, the Logical Level is set to All.
    Click the X button to remove it. Repeat until the Company dimension does not
    have a Logical Level setting.
    10. Make sure to check Global Consistency to ensure there are no errors, and then
    save the RPD file.
    Please help me to resolve.
    Thanks,
    Soumitro

    Could you let me know how you resolved this. I am facing the same.

  • "Missing most detailed table for dimension tables" eror when I run the Global Consistency check

    ERRORS:
    Business Model DAC Measures:
    [nQSError: 15003] Missing most detailed table for dimension tables: [D_DETAILS,D_EXECUTION_PLAN,D_TASK].
    [nQSError: 15001] Could not load navigation space for subject area DAC Measures.
    I am also attaching my Business Model layer for easy understanding. I have a fact table and several Dimension table. I got this error only after creating the following hierarchies:
    Execution Plan -> Tasks -> Details
    Start Date Time Hierarchy
    End Date Time Hierarchy
    Is there a solution for this problem? Thanks in advance!

    Yes ! My Task Hierarchy has 3 dimension tables that form a hierarchy :Execution Plan -> Tasks -> Detail
    All the 3 levels in the hierarchy are 3 different dimension tables.

  • How do you handle update and delete rules for fact tables?

    I have a fact table with a composite key of 5 columns. Two of the columns are FKs to the date dimension. I was setting the delete/update rules for the FK relationship in SSMS and it had a problem with me creating cascade action on the FKs that connected
    to the date dimension.
    What is the proper way to set up FK relationships in fact tables with SSMS when  you have composite keys as most fact tables do?

    Yeah I understand all that. What I'm trying to do is to protect my database from RI violations that occur by production support people blowing away stuff in a dimension table but forgetting to blow away related records in the fact table. I want those fact
    records deleted automatically so we don't have orphan records which was a real issue at a previous engagement. Production support is usually just people that know SQL and some relational modeling. It's not too likely they will understand the details of dimensional
    modeling enough such that they would know that they had to blow away the fact record first.
    My problem is I have a FK to a role playing dimension (the date dimension in this case). So basically I have to columns in the fact table that have a FK relationship to the PK of the date dimension. When I create both relationships SSMS and try to have both
    of them cascade delete SSMS has an issue with it.
    The error I get is:
    Unable to create relationship '[relationship name]'
    Introducing Foreign Key constraint '[constraint name]' on table '[table name]' may cause cycles or multiple cascade paths. Specify ON DELETE NO ACTION or ON UPDATE NO ACTION, or modify other foreign key constraints.
    I can go ahead and put no action and the table will save fine. The question now becomes how does the cascade delete actually work. Can I just set one part of the key to cascade delete?
    Actually I just realized that this is an even bigger design issue. What DOES happen to a fact record when one of it's dimensions gets deleted and I've got full RI set up on the table?
    Or am I totally thinking about this wrong. Do you set up cascade deletes in a dimensional model? Is there a way to prevent deletes from the dimension table if there are related fact records?

  • What is the correct way to model an abstract base class/table?

    I tried to model an abstract base class/table. For the parent table I used the "Forward Engineer Strategy" "Table per child" and I set on each child table the "Super Type" to the corresponding parent table. I did this for two parent tables and five child tables. This is the result:
    https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1La98ulWOZg/T_2Hyock5-I/AAAAAAAAAoI/00qn5ukJCpI/s678/2012-07-11
    But when I engineer the logical model into a physical model, the result is not as expected:
    https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YfF_ocUa8bY/T_2H_YSqkyI/AAAAAAAAAoc/rNEYRnTFzU4/s617/2012-07-11
    First the parent table "obj" should not be created. The table is correctly omitted, but the primary key of the parent table gets created. For me this is not logical. And even worse the primary key gets created twice with the same name, which results in a DDL generation error.
    And second the primary key of the "attr" table does not get merged into the primary key of the child tables. This results into two individual unique constraints although I have expected to create only one with two attributes.
    Is this a bug or is there another way to model this example correctly?

    chriswalsh wrote:
    The installer for Silverlight installed it as a seperate volume displayed on the desktop...
    Likely that's not the app itself. When you download most Mac software, you are downloading a .dmg file (a disk image) - opening that (which may happen automatically) mounts a disk image on your desktop, and then you drag the app from that disk image to your Applications folder (or an installer runs).
    After copying/installing the app, you Eject the disk image, then delete the .dmg file (from your Downloads folder, probably).

  • Default column sort order for 11g table

    Could anyone give me some indication on how I would go about setting the default sort order for a table?
    I have a table with a few columns, and dataset returns in a particular order, but my table decides to sort if in any given order until I manually click on the column header and sort it.
    I would like to have it done by default on a particular field.
    Any info is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jonny

    As Chris says, the easiest way and best re-use way is to use the order-by clause in your underlying model layer SQL query. For instance in ADF BC this would be in a View Object's query.
    However as you haven't dictated your model layer technology, there is another way in JDev 11g. In your web page that contains the ADF Faces RC table, select the binding tab at the bottom of the page, then double click on the iterator in the binding page, and in the Edit Iterator Binding dialog, select the Sort Criteria tab. This allows you to override the sort order on the iterator's columns.

  • Multiple Models & Conditional Display in Dynamic Table.

    Hi
    There are 5 models pointing to different systems. The user will randomly select the system and accordingly the models will get executed.
    My issue is in the second screen I need to populate a table which should display the data from multiple models at the same time.. I need to loop trough the models and check, the search term entered by the user, in which all system the same is present and accordingly I need to display in table...
    Please help me by placing some sample code for looping in multiple output nodes and create table dynamically and display the data in the coloumn...Coloumn numbers are fixed.....
    Regards
    SU

    Hi
    I suggest to create a value node to show the results in a view.
    and loop at all the model nodes and when match found create an new element for the table and add it to the table node.
    This is the code to Create Table and its columns dynamically.
    place the code in wdDoModifyView()
    IWDTable <tableref> = (IWDTable) view.createElement(IWDTable.class,"<tablename>");
    <tableref>.bindDataSource(wdContext.node<node>().getNodeInfo());
    IWDTableColumn <colref> =(IWDTableColumn)view.createElement(IWDTableColumn.class,"F");
    IWDInputField inf = (IWDInputField )view.createElement(IWDInputField.class,"d");
    inf.bindValue(wdContext.node<node>().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("<attribute>"));
    <colref>.setTableCellEditor(inf);
    <tableref>.addGroupedColumn(<colref>);
    IWDTransparentContainer <grp> =(IWDTransparentContainer)view.getElement("RootUIElementContainer");

  • Data Model best Practices for Large Data Models

    We are currently rolling out Hyperion IR 11.1.x and are trying to establish best practces for BQYs and how to display these models to our end users.
    So far, we have created an OCE file that limits the selectable tables to only those that are within the model.
    Then, we created a BQY that brings in the tables to a data model, created metatopics for the main tables and integrated the descriptions via lookups in the meta topics.
    This seems to be ok, however, anytime I try to add items to a query, as soon as i add columns from different tables, the app freezes up, hogs a bunch of memory and then closes itself.
    Obviously, this isnt' acceptable to be given to our end users like this, so i'm asking for suggestions.
    Are there settings I can change to get around this memory sucking issue? Do I need to use a smaller model?
    and in general, how are you all deploying this tool to your users? Our users are accustomed to a pre built data model so they can just click and add the fields they want and hit submit. How do I get close to that ideal with this tool?
    thanks for any help/advice.

    I answered my own question. in the case of the large data model, the tool by default was attempting to calculate every possible join path to get from Table A to Table B (even though there is a direct join between them).
    in the data model options, I changed the join setting to use the join path with the least number of topics. This skipped the extraneous steps and allowed me to proceed as normal.
    hope this helps anyone else who may bump into this issue.

  • M:N Relation and plural name for associative Table

    Hi,
    I'm using DM 3.1.4
    In my logical model, 2 entities and an M:N relation. I define a name for this relation
    Entity Student
    Entity Stage
    Relation Registration
    I create a glossary with plural form for these three names (entities name and relation name) :
    Student --> STUDENTS
    Stage --> STAGES
    Registration --> REGISTRATIONS
    When I generate relationnal model with "apply name translation" option, my two tables are named correctly with the plural name, but the associative table is named with the relation name (registration), not with the plural form (REGISTRATIONS)
    Is this a bug ? Is there another way to automatically define plural name for an associative table ?
    Thanks
    Fabrice.
    Edited by: FabriceC on 22 mars 2013 14:03

    Hi Fabrice,
    thanks for reporting the problem. I logged a bug for that.
    There is no another way for setting a plural name for intersection table. If you switch to 3.3 then you can set the name manually and lock it so it cannot be changed further.
