Modify Search Creteria - dimmed

I use saved queries a lot. After upgrade to PsE11 I find them harder to use.
How can I modify a saved search? Under "options" both "Save Search Criteria as Saved Search" and "Modify Search Criteria" are dimmed.
My saved search is built with "Advanced search", and contain a mix of included and excluded keyword tags.

Let's start with :
If I start a "single find" (the little rigth angle in the list of sub-categories/tags) from on "Boat" it finds all photos tagged with "Boat", and also those tagged with sub-categories or keywords under "Boat". The option "Hide bets match result" hides all of them. I wish there was an option "Show only exact matches" that would include those tagged only this "Boat" and exclude all photos tagged with a keyword or sub-category of "Boat". In this way there would be no need to maintain the saved search.
I agree, that's an important missing feature. The workarounds are far from being easy and involve assigning temporary tags to a lot of pictures, depending on your criteria.
From the rest of your description, I see you are mastering very well the handling of hierarchical keyword categories in Elements. As I see it, you have to  think about two problems :
1 - saved searches are dynamic. By changing the hierarchies, you change the meaning of older saved searches. In some cases, it would be necessary to assign a fixed keyword to the selected files if you change the criteria, even temporarily.
2 - Working with complex hierarchies in the categories is an organization process very different to the relational database system used with keywords, by combining logical operators. For instance, suppose you have no hierarchy under 'boat'. You'll have a keyword 'boat' and another 'sail ship' (same hierarchy level). That enables you to define a query with a combination of both keywords and operators like '.and.' / '.or.'  That organization is very flexible and is the reason why hierarchical database system are not chosen when you need to reorganize your data.
As an example, I have reconsidered a genealogy catalog organization. Instead of having keywords for branches of the family and one for each member, I assign several keywords : first name, name, birth name for women, nickname. If people are known with a first name or in a diminutive first name, I assign both to the person. I can easily find anyone depending on the criteria I can remember. No hierarchies, but if I want to see a full branch based on name or birth name, I can select them easily by a combination of keywords.
Further problem with the hierarchy in Elements : the hierarchy levels are categories, sub-categories, keywords. What if you want more, for instance if you are dealing with animals, species, sub-species and so on ?

  • How to modify search query based on new FE

    Hi,
    As per a requirement, in All Accounts search (advanced search section), I had to replace 5 checkboxes (e.g. Role1, Role2, Role3, Role4, Role5) by a single dropdown (codelist) name= "Account_Roles" containing same values (Role1, Role2, Role3, Role4, Role5). I created Customer's XBO and declared field of the codelist type, name= "Account_Roles". So, the XBO now has below 6 fields :
    Role1, Role2, Role3, Role4, Role5 (type = Indicator)
    Account_Roles                            (type = codelist)
    Existing search on All Accounts worked on the 5 checboxes and fetched those accounts for which the values matched.
    E.g.
    If in search parameters, I check Role1 & Role2, and for Account1, these values are stored as "true", then Account1 will be shown in the result list.
    Now the search UI doesn't have the checkboxes, but codelist ('Account_Roles') which can have value 'Role1'/'Role2'/'Role3'/'Role4'/'Role5' or combinations are also possible like 'Role1' OR 'Role2', etc..
    My question here is -
    Will the old search query that worked on indicator fields earlier, handle the new FE "Account_Roles" automatically ?
    If not, then will modification be required to existing search query ?
    If modification is required, what steps I need to follow to handle this new field instead of checkboxes.
    I need exact steps to modify a search query, as I tried several things in the PDI but was not able to confirm if this requirement can be implemented by modifying search query or it is not feasible from PDI perspective.
    Appreciate all your inputs.
    Thanks,
    Sachin.

    Hi,
    you can create a link between the vendor objects itself, means link 0vendor with 0ven_compc and 0ven_purorg. This should give you a list of all vendors multiplied with the comp codes multiplied with the purch. org. May be here it is possible to create another link between a attribute (eg. comp_code of 0ven_purorg with comp_code of 0ven_compc). In case it is not possible you need to add this link information somehow. Another option might be to create 2 queries. One on a infoset of 0vendor and 0ven_purorg and another one on 0vendor and 0ven_compc.
    regards
    Siggi

  • Problem while modifying searches in Imaging 11.1.1.5

    Hi
    I am facing serious issues while modifying searches in IPM.
    Initially while creating applications, and uploading data in those applications, the fields were not added in sequence.
    So we re-ordered the sequence from database and it worked fine.
    But now because of re-ordering the search results column have also been reordered(Result Formatting) in Search Creation.
    While modifying i am facing following error:

    Hi Abhinav,
    Have you applied any patches for your PS4 instance as yet ?....Also do check the AXF logs and this might give a clue on command that is being executed.
    You could paste the mapped AXF log as well

  • Modify Search link in the dekstop channel

    Hi All,
    I need information on the Modify Search link in the Master Agreement List Channel. Once i click the Modify Search link I can see few fields and Add button to add more filter criteria.
    I want to introduce same functionality in one of my report where user can click the Modify search and add the filter fileds as per need.
    I searched in the setup but no luck. Pl share your view.
    Deepak!!!

    Hi
    Follow the following steps :
    1. In Set Up go to queries and reports-> query groups
    2.  Search for query group: Master Agreement List
    3.  Go to Queries tab
    4. Here you would find all the master agreement queries. Open the query you want to add filter to in query definition.
    you can add filters in the tab Filter Prompts to suite your requirement. This would in turn reflect in Modify Search option.

  • Modify Search Layout using Keyword Search

    Hi,
    we are using untargeted search (keyword) and modified some search layouts. This works for the lookup window as expected (other fields displayed), but the search results are still shown with the default layout.
    Any Hints?
    BR
    Michael

    Michael, you can only manage the search result layouts for "Targeted" search and not "Keyword" search.

  • How to Modify Search for Leads using Date types in the Assgmnt Block Date

    Hello Experts,
    I have a requirement to modify the search for Leads using Dates in the Assignment Block Dates and using the Posting Date of the transaction.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you in advance,
    Justin

    If you look at the grants, you'll see that there are over 170 objects from the FLOWS_030000 granted to PUBLIC:
    SQL> select count(*) from dba_tab_privs where owner= 'FLOWS_030000' and grantee = 'PUBLIC';
    173
    If we were go grant these privileges to a role, called APEX_APP_RU, and grant this role to APEX_PUBLIC_USER and any schemas an application is linked to (Workspace to Schema), would that be a workable solution?
    The only problem I see right off hand that this might not work is that PUBLIC has synonyms created for the FLOWS_030000 objects. If we revoke the underlying privileges, because of the synonyms, this might not work.
    SQL> select COUNT(*) from dba_synonyms where table_owner = 'FLOWS_030000' and owner = 'PUBLIC';
    176
    Does anyone else have any ideas?

  • Modifying Search and Quick Search

    We will be having several departments getting in to our UCM. Right now it's been working well for one department but now other departments want to join UCM and need seperate accesses. Now I do understand there are several ways we can seperate departments such as security groups/profiles/rules... etc. But one thing I haven't been able to find anywhere is Modifying or Customizing Searches. Right now if a user from different department runs a "quick search" he/she is able to see documents from other departments but that's as far as it goes it won't let them check it out or check it in or do anything with the documents. Same thing happens when they use the Left Hand menu "SEARCH" menu.
    I want to be able to limit users so when they hit "quick search" they only get search result that's ATLEAST pertaining to there own security group or their own department and same thing with when they run advance search. I want to limit them so they don't see any other documents in UCM acccept what they have "read or write" access to. Thanks in advance.

    Hi you're right when you say "I do understand there are several ways we can seperate departments such as security groups/profiles/rules"
    So this also apply for search, if your users can see other's people document it is because they have Read access to other people's accounts/sec groups, you have to make those departments totally disjoint.
    You'll have to rethink your security model to separate the roles properly, if roles are not enough think about enabling accounts to give it more granularity.
    My guess is that all your roles have access to Public security group and if people is checking content in Public then no matter which department you're from, you'll be able to read it, in any case some of your roles are accessing the same security group.

  • Modifying Search Help.

    Hi,
    We have modified a standard Search help by including our own custom search help by taking a object key. Now it is appearing in SPAU when we apply Suuport pack. But we dont want this to appear in the next Upgrade.
    What is the ideal way to do the changes?
    Should i Reset to original and append the Z structure to it or Should i modify it directly?

    Hi again,
    1. well, im not much aware about search help,
    but regarding tables,
      a) modifying structure of a table
      b) using append structure in table.
    2. The difference lies
       in re-constructing the table
       at the database level,
       whenever there is any change
       in future in the database table
    3. when append strucute is there,
       the table fields are
       first constructred from the
       normal fields (ie. without any append strcture,
        containing .include etc)
    4. Only then the fields of append strucutre
       are added.
    5. then old data fields are copied to the new data fields.

  • Modifying Search result

    Hello
    I have added a who is who search to the portal toolbar. I modified the SearchComponentParameter. This is the new string: rndLayoutSet=JMWhoIsWhoLayoutSet&layoutSetMode=exclusive&ResourceListType=com.sapportals.wcm.SearchResultList&SelectedSearchIndices=ume&SearchType=ctrlpers&QueryString=
    Now, I can search for users (this works fine!), but in the popup window that shows the resultset there is also a searchbox and a search button, if I try to make a search it is showing the regular search.
    Does anybody know how to modify this window?
    Thank you
    Ismail

    Not sure it this will satisfy your requirement, but you can try adding another parameter at the end of you Search String:   &SearchVisible=false
    This way they will not see the searchbox in the popup window!

  • How to Modify Search URL's in Forums?

    OK, this has been plaguing me for a while now, but had time on my hands, so will ask for some assistance from the forum gurus here.
    Problem:
    I use the Forum Search (yeah, I know that the name could be better... ), to locate many articles to link to. In most cases, I know the exact Search keyword to use, but I then have an issue - the URL provided for the article is almost always pointing way down a long thread. That can be useful sometimes, but I want to get the URL for the beginning of those threads, to make it easier for others (especially new users) to get the thread from the beginning, and not at the end, or even the middle. Even when the Search keyword is in the title, and also in the OP, the Adobe Forum Search always dumps me at the end of the thread, or at best, the middle - never at the beginning.
    Here is an example:
    Search in Premiere Elements Tips & Tricks Forum for keyword "resources." I get http://forums.adobe.com/message/3953827#3953827, which is about the middle of that thread. The word "Resources" is used in the title, and also the OP (mine), but I do not get it, until down the thread. The Search function seems to overlook the first several uses of the word, and I get the URL for the Re:. This is the URL that I want: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/800455?tstart=0.
    What do I need to do, to get that ____start=0 ?
    Appreciated,
    Hunt

    Bill,
    Actually, it is sometimes possible to get to the thread URL in another way, but I am afraid it is no less silly.
    1) Make the search (Ask the Question) and get to wherever in the thread;
    2) Go to the top (if needed) and Click [the OP], then click [the OP]'s Stuff and see whether the thread is still in the list without Re: at the start.
    That will give the thread URL (without the ?tstart=0, though), as in this case http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1405227, which is viable in itself; you may add the ?tstart=0.
    I just made it before it went off the list.

  • Modify Search Refiner for People (Add phone number)

    Right now, the item hover panel for people only shows Department and Title.  I would like to add Phone number but I am hitting a brick wall in doing so. Here's what I've done:
    1) Assigned 'work phone' to available refiner (RefinableString00)
    2) Added RefinableString00 to the Search webpart
    This isn't working, however.  No results are being returned even though I know phone numbers are assigned and show up when I click the person's entry.  I'm not even sure I have the right field for phone number (I've tried all fields
    that have "phone" in the title).  Do I have to force a re-index in order for these items to show up--even in preview?  Is there a way to find out the name of the field I am referencing (I've been using InfoPath to find out the name but
    maybe I am doing it wrong)?
    Thanks,
    JARED

    Thanks Jed. The information you provided was helpful but I still cannot get this to work.  Should I be using Mapped crawled properties or property name as the reference in the Item_person html file?  here's what I have done so far:
    Added the </mso:ManagedPropertyMapping> of 'WorkPhone':'WorkPhone'
    Added  var has_WorkPhone = !$isEmptyString(ctx.CurrentItem.WorkPhone)
    Added the code:
    <!--#_
                                            if(has_WorkPhone == true)
    _#-->
    <div id="WorkPhoneField">
    <!--#_
    var encodedWorkPhone = ctx.CurrentItem.WorkPhone;
    var displayWorkPhone = Srch.U.getSingleHHXMLNodeValue(hhProps, "WorkPhone");
    if ($isEmptyString(displayWorkPhone)) { displayWorkPhone = encodedWorkPhone }
    _#-->
    <div id="WorkPhoneValue" class="ms-srch-ellipsis" title="_#= encodedWorkPhone =#_"> _#= displayWorkPhone =#_ </div>
    </div>
    <!--#_
    I then created a new result type and mapped it to 'phone people item' display template.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    JARED

  • Outlook 2103 modify search options via registry

    Hello all.
    I need to to enable the:
    Include results only from: Current folder.Current mailbox when searching from the inbox.
    so that when users search with inbox as their focused folder they search their whole mailbox.I need to apply this setting to over 100 Outlook users so I was wondering if this could be done via a registry setting and then have it applied via logon script.Any
    ideas are welcome.
    Thanks in advance.

    That option is set in Options -> Search -> Results -> Include results only from.  The setting is saved in the DefaultSearchScope value under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Search key.

  • Modify Search Screens in SRM 7.0

    We recently upgraded from SRM 4.0 to SRM 7.0.  We use the classic scenario.
    In the previous version, users were able to search for previous carts by using vendor or catalog number in their search criteria.  This is not an option in SRM 7 for the general user and they are not very happy.  Search by vendor is available for the admins in the Shopping Cart Monitor transaction.
    We need to be able to add more fields on the Order Status, Advanced Search, and/or Old Shopping Carts and Templates so that users can search for carts more efficiently.
    One concern I do have is the vendor catalog number.  For non-catalog orders, we added a Z field in SRM 4.0 for users to enter a vendor catalog number.  In SRM 7, that field was no longer necessary since the standard functionality brought in that field for us (not only for catalog orders but non-catalog as well).  If users were to do a search now, I wonder if it would look for those carts created in SRM 4 or if there is someway we can tell the system to look in the standard field as well as the Z field.
    Any help as to how to add additional search fields to the POWL/Advanced Search would be greatly appreciated.

  • How To Modify Interactive Report Search Input?

    Hello All,
    I am running version 3.2 and attempting to modify (validate) the search input value on an interactive report. For example, after a user enters a string in the search textbox, I want to strip any space characters from the string and perform other operations as needed.
    I have attempted to use javascript and PL/SQL page processing, but have been unsuccessful with either. I can not figure out how to modify the javascript function called for submitting the page and the on submit page processes don't fire for interactive report pages.
    How do I modify search values on IR pages?

    Edited by: Mark Carpenter on Sep 28, 2009 3:53 PM

    Hello Mark,
    The search item is called "apexir_SEARCH".
    Using jQuery you can add a onblur function to that field:
    $(function(){
      // Add an onblur function to the Search field
      $("#apexir_SEARCH").attr("onblur",'clearField(this)');
    function clearField( pThis ){
    //Do your thing here.
