Modify the Field Type of standard Table fields in a Query

Hello. I have a question.
Is there a way to "modify" the field type for standard table fields that are included in a Query?
I made a simple query out of a join of tables, but several fields have a lot of decimals, and I would like to present them in the query without any decimals, just as a regular "N" field.
I tried the possibility of creating extra local fields where all I do is transfer the value to the new "N" field, but I have many fields like this, so if there's a better way; I'd prefer that.
Maybe somewhere in the InfoSet there's a way to modify the type of the standard table fields?

Which field are you thinking of in particular? Are you wanting to increase or decrease the length?
Some fields are used so extensively that a change to their length will mean adjusting many tables, some of them potentially very large, and hence taking a long time to adjust.
Some standard SAP programs expect certain fields to be of specific lengths and won't work if the length is changed.
Some screens could cease to work.
If you decrease length, then you could lose data.

Creating a custom change document for a standard table field

Is it possible to create a change document for a field in a standard table?
I have searched the forum and only found threads about creating change document to a custom table.
Will the creation of change documents to a standard SAP table be a modification?

Yes it will be a modification on standard table, but you can always create change document for any field by assigning it to custom change object.

Sending custom field added in Standard table through idoc

Hello Folks,
We have a requirement where custom field of a standard table PA0002 needs to be sent through idoc only to a desired destination system.
My Approach:
I have created a custom segment having custom field from PA0002 & mapped this segment in T777D table.
But the problem with above, is all the system who are receiving PA0002 will be receiving this custom segment also including desired system.
How can it be filtered?

In BD64 you can do the segment level filtering. Go to BD64, search for your distribution model there drill down to "filter settings" the make the required segment filtering.

Can I modify the data type of a dynamic parameter?

I am using CR2008 against an Oracle 11 db and have a report with dynamic parameters.
One of the report sources is a custom view that selects all of the possible 'pay ending dates' where one of the fields from this view is used as the source for the dynamic parameter.
The view performs a TRUNC on the date field in an effort to eliminate the TIME component.
The problem is that the parameter definintion defaults to DATE/TIME (vs. just DATE). I'm wondering if there is any way to modify the data type of the parameter to be DATE only.
I've searched several forumns but have not found anything.
One solution I can think of is to have the custom view format the date field as a VARCHAR (sans the time component) which I assume would force the dynamic parameter data type to string, and then have the report perform a todate function on the value when applying the criteria.
Anyone else have an idea? Just seems like CR should allow the developer to specify the data type- especially b/w Date and Date/Time, rather than make an assumption.

Here's what you can do:
Leave the existing date column as it is in the view...
Just add another column to the view that casts the the date as a VarChar data type and formats the date as you would like it to be.
So now you'll have 2 date columns in the view... 1 that's still a date and another that a character string.
Now for your parameter, use the date version as the parameter value and the text version as the parameter description.
Be sure to set the "Prompt with description only" is set to true.
This way the user sees the LoV in the desired format but there's not need to wrangle it back into a date for data selection.

Is there a way to modify the content type in the Weblogic server.
Basically what I want to do is, make IE6 to IE8 compatible for CSS3. I read somewhere that ".htaccess" file should be modified to make it work. I would like to add the below line...

So, where do I add this ?? Can some1 guide me as I dont know how to play around with WLS. I dont even know if there is such setting in WLS.

Tom and I exchanged several emails on this topic. It would appear that the problem (mail setting the content-type to ISO-2022-JP) is caused when certain characters in the quoted text of a reply are encoded; mail decides it needs to specify ISO-2022-JP. Characters identified as causing the problem are smart quotes and apostrophes. To find the function modules for standard tables you go for a where used list of that particular table and check only function module interfaces checkbox...
and more over you can go for DB_UPDATE_TABLE will be the function module for updating database table..

Updating custom field in a standard table - AFVC

We have created a custom field in table AFVC. While updating other things related to that Order/Operation, we need to update this custom field.

Hi Ankur,
There are few ways to do.
1) Implement the screen field in the transaction at the operation level for visibilty to all the reason code. After updation of USER STATUS you need write the small utlity to update that field through LSMW or any other way to update this field in the transaction directly to save in the database table.
2) AFVC means orders operation data. In this table many types of order data will store so you have to choose which type of order you are going to update whether it will be Internal order or production order or maintaineance order etc..
3) Direct updation is last preference if there is no way for updation.
Please let me know which order cateogry you are updating from thrid party sytem to your current system.
As J@Y said if you are updating through some function module then in that case for BAPI's there is separate structure EXTENSION_IN and OUT to update the custom fields.

How to change the desription of a standard SAP field in the Search Help

Hi All,
In Table T023T there is a field WGBEZ60(Long text describing the material group) and the data element of the field is WGBEZ60.
Requirement is to change the description of the field WGBEZ60.The desription of the field is - Description 2 for the material group.
But the user want as - Description for the material group. He dont want 2 in the description.
we are using this field in the search help of Material group for the transaction ME21N and ME51N.
So please tell me how can we change the description of the field in the Search help.

As search help uses data element , it shows its keyword. So you have to do modification to that keyword.
- Go to CMOD
- from top menu GOTO -> Text enhancements -> Keywords -> Change -> type WGBEZ60 -> change the description -> Save and add it to transport
- now use that data element either on the screen or search help. It will have the descripiton modified.

How to get the current type of a generic Field Symbol

Hi Experts,
I have a Field Symbol:
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <lf_any> TYPE ANY.
I loop around an internal table with a generic structure and assign their fields to my fieldsymbol:
LOOP AT it_data ASSIGNING <lf_any>.
After executing this statement I am able to see the current Absolute Type of the field Symbol in debugger.
For example this could be TYPE ZX_1 in first loop, TYPE ZX_2 in second loop and so on...
Question: How can I get this current type within my Loop?
The Reason is I have to CREATE DATA xxx TYPE "current type of the field symbol".

if you want to change the value in the CESS field of j_1irg23d table. ( sales tax )
since it is a standard table dont try to do it using update ot modify statsments.. standard tables are updated using standard transaction and it is not advicable to change using abap statments..
just try to find a bapi or field module to update that field in the j_1irg23d table.
1) To find a bapi or function module just do a whereused list on the table name you may get some fms or bapi
2) check the forum you may get some links on it..

Problem in delta management for custom fields added in standard Table

Hi developers,
we have a problem, when a sales order is modified in a field custom, added in tables (VBAP-VBAK), the delta BW doesn't recognize the modifications. The data type of these fields haven't the flag (Change document) setted in
view Definition.
If this flag is setted, Can the delta BW recognize the modifications of the custom fields?

You cannot get delta by just appending fields to extract structure & writing the user exit coding as this user exit code is run by the extractor after the X- and Y- tables are compared to create the before & after images.
You have to do this procedure by enhancing LIS comm structures like MCVBAP (for example).
