Modify window title of popup at runtime

We have a generic popup that allows the user to scroll through a series of instructions. The instructions vary based on the test. Is there a way, at Runtime, to change the popup's window title (based on the VI's name, or read from a config file)?

Hello everybody.
I am looking for a way to modify the title of window popup and the label of the close buton of the popup window help text.
In my item template item, I am using the following in order to pop the window help :

Let us say that you have page 1 on which you want to show help for some item....
So in Post Element Text you can put an image tag ( for help) which onclick will call the function ...

so page 2 is your customisable help page...in which you can put page title ,customise button etc....

If running on the web you can use webutil or SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY (title). You can use GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(usename) as well.

Safari 2.0: javascript can't change title of popup "Untitled"

With a javascript generated popup window, Safari 2.+ titles the window "Untitled" and will not allow the title to be changed with either html "<title>" tag or with javascript "document.title()" property. Safari 1.+, IE 5.0 and Firefox 1.+ all reset the window title properly using javascript. Does anyone know of a simple workaround to fix this bug in Safari 2.+?

How to forbid window title bar to be draged?

If a top level vi has the window title bar,how to forbid user to drag the title bar to change window's position?
P.S. vi's property "Allow user to resize window" has been forbidden.

Unfortunately, the LabVIEW event structure does not provide an event like "Panel Move" or a similiar stuff.
I think, you have two different options:
a) Either use the event structure -> timeout case to set (if necessary) every Xms with the invoke method "Front Panel.Runtime Position.Custom" the position of the VI.
b) Probably you find an appropriate function in the attached zip file

Question about Setting Window Title/the use of AVWindowSetTitle()

Hi everyone,
I have a question about setting the title of the window in which the Acrobat viewer normally opens a PDF file. The documentation states that AVWindowSetTitle() cannot be used in this case. However, using it has worked with versions of Acrobat/Reader up until and including version 8.
Everything breaks down starting with Acrobat 9.
According to the documentation I am supposed to do the following: "To set the title of a window in which the Acrobat viewer opens a PDF file, you must replace AVDocOpenFromASFileWithParams() and pass the window title in tempTitle."
Unfortunately, there are 2 problems I have with this approach:
     I do need to be able to change the document title on document Save, not only on document Open
     I do not know what AVDocOpenFromASFileWithParams() implementation has to look like if I have to replace it using HFTReplaceEntry().
Is there a sample customized implementation of AVDocOpenFromASFileWithParams() somewhere that I could take a look at?
Is there a way to change a document Title inside Acrobat/Reader window after a Save operation?

     I am sorry. I don't know how you tested this and came to conclusion that this works correctly in Acrobat X.
     I just tested our Acrobat plug-in with a trial version of Acrobat X and this did not work.
     When we open a file in Acrobat (doing it ourselves in the plug-in by adding another specialized open) we set the window title to something different from the default file name. Then if a file gets edited and saved (File->Save), the window title gets reset to the file name. In the PDDocDidSave callback we call AVWindowSetTitle() to set it back to a more descriptive window title we need. This has worked up until and including Acrobat 8, but does not work in either version 9.0 or 10.0.
     Also, I just modified the plug-in code to always change the Window Title of every document (even if opened through native File->Open) on document Save. It does not work.
     Please help,

Hi,
To change the name of the browser:
System Administration > System Configuration > Service Configuration > Portal Runtime > Central Configuration.
Scroll down to: portal.html.head.title
and change to required name of your company.
Also, if you goto System Administration > System Configuration > UM Configuration > Direct Editing.
Here you will find a host of UME controls for logging on and logging off the Portal. You can change images etc... from here.
Remember to restart the Portal and components for changes to take affect.

At runtime the MDI window title can be changed by using SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY built-in (in Pre-Form trigger...):
Set_Window_Property(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, TITLE,'my title') ;
The window title you can change the same way.
You can also set window property TITLE declaratively in Form Builder (using the Property Palette).

Change icon & window title - for Mac projectors? (but not Zinc)

I need to change the icon and window title for a Mac projector made with CS5 (on Windows).
I know there are a few solutions for the Windows exe.
But I can't find an affordable solution for the Mac projector. Any ideas?
I tried the Windows version of Zinc, it created exactly what I need for both the PC and Mac - but there's no way I'm paying $800+ for Zinc just to change the icon and window title.

My feeling was that there was a residual window spec left
over from a previous build. (You can go on adding windows via
Project>Windows rightclick.)
Now - if you Open <yourprojectname>.hpj the project
summary is displayed in dialog format. The first line reads 'This
file is maintained by HCW. Do not modify this file directly.'
Nevertheless, it is possible to do so - doubleclick on any of the
sections to bring up an editable dialog on its settings. There are
buttons at right, too, that replicate several of the doubleclicks.
I'm annoyed that I can't remember which file stores all this data
in an accessible form.
In the General tab of the resulting Windows dialog there are
the options to Add, Remove and Include window types and enter/edit
Title texts. It's worth having a look at what's shown here just in
case there is an Include being copied from another (and possibly no
longer available?) project file.
Perhaps try this (having backed up, of course!!):
1 Note the required spec for your second window.
2 Open the .hpj windows dialog and Remove any and all windows
apart from Main.
3 Open the project and see if the ghost is still there.
4 Is it??
(No-one else going back this far?)

Change Window Title

How can I include Employee Number on a window title in addition to employee name which is already displayed (Oracle HRMS). e.g
in Adjust Balance window title appears as: :
Adjust Balance (Last Name, Mr. First Name)
I want it to be :
Adjust Balance (Last Name, Mr. First Name, Employee Number)

Currently your code would be something like
app_window.set_title('ADJUST BALANCE', arg1,:block.last_name,:block.first_name);
Modify it to
app_window.set_title('ADJUST BALANCE', arg1,:block.last_name,:block.first_name,:block.EmpNumber);
However the combined length should be no more than 250 characters.

Forms window title

HI Gentlemen,
Could you tell me what to do in order to override the "Forms Developer Runtime - Web" standard window title? I substituted in formsweb.cfg the pageTitle parameter, it appears for a moment correctly, but it then again reverts to the above text. It would be good to see which particular application is running.

You sound to be having different applications set up in the formsweb.cfg. (Because, you said it would be nice to see the application name as page title.) Make sure, the following things are set:
1) Set the pagetitle separately for each application/config section in formsweb.cfg.
2) If you expect a unique page title for all the applications, then set the pageTitle in the default section.

Here is the code I use from a simple form. You can see it handles three separate environments, Client/Server, Web separate frame, and Web inside browser window.
I like to remove the "Oracle Forms Runtime" from the main window, only in Client/Server, you cannot remove the brackets. So you are left with - [ Your Title ]Here is the code. It can be put into either the Pre-Form or When-New-Form-Instance trigger. But note that once you do this, EVERY form must set its title, or the one you set last will show up on all your subsequent forms:

Does anyone know how to display forms title as a part of IE window title in Webforms 10g?
For example: if I am on the Order Entry form, the IE title would be Order Entry - Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Yes, I did change the pageTitle in the formsweb.cfg to have the Application name. And you are right that is the one time only...
I would like to somehow passing a forms title as a variable that is appended to the Application title at runtime.
Gerd, you mention about the java applet which can interact back to the IE-engine. Have you done one before? I am new to this concept.

How to set browser window title from FPM ?

How do I set brwoser window title at runtime in FPM ?
Using IDR area objetc I can set only apllication are(ident area) title, not the browser window title. Browser window title is set statically from iView name of in portal, and PFCG contect if in NWBC client.
But in my case, I want to set it at runtime, for eg. in case of Purchase Order window, I want to set it as 'Purchase Order:<PO number>
Is there any API to set this?

When you call it as external window you may pass the title. other than that i am afraid you are left with no choice.
