Modifying individual name in group listing
How can I not change an individual name in a group list with out effecting my main "ALL" listing. for example.- Mr and Mrs Smith in my "all" list " I have a Group List ( xmas cards) that I want to change to Mr and Mrs Smith & Family ! - and not to change the main/all listing
Is there a way that it won't correct my "all" listing" ? or Can I export my group list into Word or other programs that I can modify each name ? I know I can create a PDF though It would allow me to change individual names.

If I understand your question, you want to create a customized address list for a special purpose, but you want to do so without modifying the current entries in Address Book. Unfortunately, since the group listings derive their basic information from the individual entries, you cannot change one without modifying the other.
I am not sure about how you would go about exporting to Word. What you might need to do is create new entries in Address Book from which you can print your lables.

I've trawled the discussion pages and cannot find this question, so I hope I'm not repeating it.
I want to send an email via Mac Mail using the 'send to group' facility on the Mac Address book. However I want to send the email and hide the individual names on the list. Is there a way to do this? I can do it using MicroSoft Entourage (don't all shout!) but would prefer to use Mac Mail.
If it's not a facility available on Mac Mail then it's something to be considered. I don't want to go over to the 'Dark Side' but needs must.

TommisauceHi Tom, and welcome to Apple discussions. This is the 10.3 Panther forum and I just tested the solution on Panther, and then noticed you have Leopard, but think it will work for a Leopard machine as well.
I think there a few ways to do it. One way is to make a group of names in your Address Book and have in that group all of your intended mail recipients.
I also couple this with a Mail preference but am not sure if this is necessary.
Mail; Preferences; click on the Composing tab, and you will see under Addressing: When sending to a group, show all member addresses. Uncheck that.
Then drag your group from the Address Book into the To: field and send.
The recipients will not see the other addresses.

You used to be able to do this through leaving unchecked the box in preferences "when sending to a group show all member addresses". However, that feature failed some time ago (two or three years?) and the only way to hide the addresses now is to put the group in the BCC field.

How do I permanently remove a name from a group list?
I would like to permanently remove a name from a group list. I have highlighted and deleted and it still won't go away. I have deleted him from my address book but I cannot remove him from the group list.
There is the mailing list stored (which addressbook)? Perhaps the addressbook is read-only or unavailable?

Unable to modify or create Protection Groups in DPM 2012 R2 - Error: 31220
"DPM failed to apply the required policies to this protection group since the recovery point limit for this DPM server has been exceeded. (ID: 31220)"
I am trying to add new data sources to our DPM server and continually run into the above message. I get the same error whether I attempt to create a new Protection Group and add the data sources to it... or if I attempt to modify an existing Protection Group
to add data sources to it. I can guess that the obvious answer is "You have too many data sources or to many recovery points for the server to handle..." If that's the case, I need to figure out how to tell how many I have. As best as I can figure
myself, I have less than 150 data sources and less than 2500 recovery points/snapshot/express-full. If there is a tool or a command that I can run to tell that, I'd be grateful to anyone who can point me in that direction.
I have tried to remove inactive member servers that no longer exist from our Protection Groups... no effect. I have tried to completely delete the removed server's data from replica... no effect. We began seeing this issue in 2012 SP1, so I ran
through the upgrade to 2012 R2 hoping that it would resolve the issue... no effect. I am able to remove members from our Protection Groups, but if I try to add an entirely new member or even just a single DB on an already protected member... fails with
above message. I also tried to adjust the retention and backup schedule... fails with above error.
Other than the stock answer from Microsoft that I am truly exceeding some limit, is there any other underlying issue that can cause this to be mis-reported to me? I hope that SOMEONE has an answer or guidance for me.Hi,

How can I stop my iPhone from synching my contacts and groups lists twice....I am using iCloud but am not sure how correct this duplication.
Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Is this happening at the bottom in the signature section, or in the header of the mail where your email address is? If it is the signature, then go to the Signature area of the Mail settings. If this is in the header, then go to the account in question and edit your account information to include your name instead of Johnny.

New version TB (31.5.0) keeps saying the group list can not be sent
After upgrading to this new version my group lists again started developing errors with a message that says something like An error occurred while sending mail. "The mail server responded: 5.5.0 <list name > invalid address. Please check the message recipient and try again."
If I again resend the messages with everything the same (because the list is correct as is) the addressing it goes through on the second try.
I have remade the lists but it does not fix the problem this was a big problem for me a number of upgrades before and then I had to go back to a older version. But it was fixed in a subsequent upgradeTurning off the Norton security suite did not change the action

Best way of creating a report where end user can maintain names in groups
I'm working on a project as a independent consultant for a company and I'm using Crystal Professional Reports version XI.
I have a main report and a subreport that contains summary totals. I'm going to link the two reports by a date parameter range. For the subreport, the report is going to be grouped by four groups. Each of the groups contain a list of names. What would the best approach to give the end user who will be running the report on a daily basis to add or remove names for each of the groups when end user is prompted to run the report?
I want to make it easy as possible for the end user to maintain this list in the sub report because of the following reasons: after the report is deployed,I will not be there on site to maintain it instead I will be available over the phone for support and the end user is the manager of the department and is not a Crystal reports developer or programmer.

TingWell let me start by saying that maintaining hard coded lists in a report definition is a bad idea and should be avoided if at all possible.
This of course means that it isn't always possible... In fact I have a few of my own reports that suffer from the same situation. Here is the way I handle it to make the list maintenance as easy and error free as possible.
#1) I created a new Report Custom Function. Let's call it NamesToGroups. The function will look like this... (Crystal Syntax)

#3) Now NameGroups is available for grouping or selection purposes or just to add as a formula on the design surface.
#4) If you are using CRS or BOE the function can be saved to the repository for use in other reports as well
Now any time a new name needs to be added, the user can access the "Report Custom Functions" are of the Formula Workshop and add the name to the function, which in turn, will be propagated through the rest of the report. It's also easy to see how the function is actually working so that new groups can also be easily added.

How do you specify which email address to use in a group list?
Hi All,
I've got several group lists created in Address Book. When I want to send an email to a group using Mail I cannot specify which email address gets used for a person that has multiple addresses in Address Book.
My process is as follows: create a new blank message, address the note to myself, move to the bcc field, click the "Address" button at the top of the message pane. When I click on a name that has multiple email addresses I can click on the one that I want, but when I click to another name and click back the previously selected address is highlighted again. It seems that the selection of the address won't 'stick'. Is there any way to force the selection? Also, I originally thought that the group list defaulted to the home address, but I noticed that some entries have their work address selected by default.

Acl-name in access-list requirements
Hi,
I would ask about the acl-name in access-list,
Does it act as a link between the ACL and an interface?
or it could be written as any-thing, without any constrains?
such as
access-list test_ACL extended permit tcp host 10.105.10.22 host 10.140.180.35 eq ssh
is it OK?
or test_ACL should be defined somewhere prior using it in ACL?just because the ACL is not defined in an access-group doesn't mean it is not in use. There are several other areas that use ACLs. Class-maps are another common place where ACLs are used to match on traffic that will be used in a policy-map. Another comon use for ACLs is to define interesting traffic, or traffic that is to be encrypted, over a site to site VPN.
But for this specific ACL that you mention, the question you need to answer is, does the ACL define IPs that are assigned within your network, and do you have any applications that require the tcp timeout to be adjusted? If the answer is no to either of thaese then it is safe to assume you can remove the class-map test_ACL and the class test_ACL under the policy-map configuration.
Whether the ACL itself can be removed, I would assume it is safe to remove as it is called test_ACL, but then again, I have see people set up test configurations and then leave them as is without changing the name. So I would suggest investigating further to see if the name test_ACL is referenced any other places in your configuration.

Help needed! Since upgrading to ios 6 I can't access my contact group lists.
I can still access the screen with the list of the names of my groups, but if I touch one, it deselects it (checkmark disappears) rather than sending me to this list. This also means I cannot add a contact withing a group list. (When I can, this helps significantly to keep my contacts more organized.)
There is so many issues with IOS 6. Have no idea why Apple never tested this os. It's a massive faliour.

"grouped list mode" in Lumia 520 is showing strang...
I am newcomer to WP8, using Nokia Lumia 520. As a Bulgarian (Cyrillic alphabet) i setup my phone to my native language - Bulgarian.
It is very annoying when I found, that "grouped list mode" or "jumplist" (not shure for correct name) is shownig not Bulgarian letters.
Is that fixable? Or someone decided to use one major setting for all Cyrillic characters (Bulgarian, Serbian, Russian and etc.)!!!
it is very irritating to see this nonsence.
And also there are missing letters for Bulgarian alphabet. What a shame.
And i am adding a snapshot from HTC Windows Phone 8S with the same regional and language settings like Lumia 520. Find the differences........

How can I burn a disk of photos with a modified file name?
After importing photos from scan device, I use Photos > Batch > Change to rename files. When burning a disk the changed file names do not transfer with the image but use the original file name. How can I burn a disk of photos with the modified file name?
This is what I have done so far with no success.
Drag selected photos from Event to Burn Folder where the file names were changed. Burn folder lists file with original file name.
Drag albums to Burn Folder with the same result.
In Filer I am able to change the iPhoto Library > Master > Date > Filename and then drag to burn disk folder and see the changed name but this is a single file exercise without a view of the file's image, but to use the new file name in iPhoto events I have to repeat the naming convention.File > Export.
In the resulting dialogue note the "Name" section. Choose to use the Title as Filename.
