Modifying Viewer CSS

Hi.
We would like to change result set table layout in Disco Viewer.
The problem is, that standard css makes the table "too big".
In EM you can change only colours and default font size.
In Plus you can set a font size for the worksheet, but no matter how small you make the font, the table rows' height remains the same (in the Viewer).
The solution I'm looking for would allow me to change for example cellpadding="3" in the following row:
<table summary="Table with the following columns : Warehouse, Item number, On-hand balance approved, Safety stock, Motrqt SUM, Moorca, Mopldt" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3">
I was searching for some instructions how to modify Discoverer CSS, but was not able to find nothing more than it is something around .uix or .xss files on server.
I realized that cached css files used by Viewer are generated form the .xss, but that's all.
Can anybody help?
Or is there any simpler solution?
Thanks, Jakub.

Jakub.
I'll try to point you to what I believe - but may not be exactly correct.
Under the newest Disco versions (plus, viewer), you are able to alter how the Discoverer page 'is assembled'. People have been using this for deleting the logo - or putting their company's on, turning off options (ie: File command only has a few options), stopping exporting for all types except for Excel, etc.
As the UIX file contains all the good code to 'assemble' the page, altering this can be satisfying to get what you want.
However, you'll get all the "it's not supported by Oracle", "you'll lose support", etc. posts, but if you manage what you're doing like companies do with Oracle Apps forms or Oracle Apps reports, you won't have a problem.
Basically, before starting any changes to the UIX file, copy the original to a saved, untouchable area. Actually, just copy all UIX files into that area and never write on top of them again. Now, make your changes and if you screw up, copy back the original one on top.
A good blog showing this is the Oracle BI product manager's website at:
http://oraclebi.blogspot.com/
Just go to the search at the top of the blog, type in UIX or something similar and search the blog.
You'll see the kind of things he's doing and if it's applicable to the kind of thing you want.

  • Modifying the css of a Symbol on hover

    I am trying to change the z-index of a symbol upon hover. This symbol has a number of elements inside of it with their own timeline that triggers upon hover as well. I tried doing so at first through something along the lines of:
    sym.getSymbol("mySymbol").css("z-index","10");
    This did not work (and it's not the z-index either, I tried changing something basic like border color and it would not do so). However if this were an element as opposed to a symbol, this code would work.
    sym.$("myElement").css("z-index","10");
    What's confusing to me about this is that if you view the source code of an Edge document, converting a group of elements into a symbol on the HTML side merely throws these elements into a DIV. So why wouldn't you be able to modify the css in the same way you are able to with elements in Edge? Am I doing something wrong? I also tried adding a class name to the symbol, but I am unsure of how to select a css class created through Edge (via the method in the image below).

    You need to use an integer, not a string:
    sym.$("myElement").css("z-index",10);

  • Viewing CSS at properties bar

    Hi everyone
    My problem (well not a problem but) with Adobe Dreamveawer is viewing css styles at properties bar. At Adobe Dreamveawer CS3 you could see the background, font type, color etc in short as you designed. This useful function is seems disabled or hidden. I have tried to view all help files and didn't find anything. Does anyone knows how to resolve this issue? Thanks for replies.

    In the CS4 Property Inspector, you have two buttons: HTML and CSS.
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-2032992-5277/property_inspector_12 0dpi.png
    You can view either CSS or HTML (but not both) at any one time by toggling these buttons.
    I am not a fan of these buttons. I'd prefer to see both CSS and HTML info next to each other simultaneously.

  • Hierarchy Viewer CSS issue

    Hi,
    I have a Fusion Web Application in Jdeveloper 12C that gets the colors and skinning from a CSS file.
    When i add:
    af|dvt-hierarchyViewer
        background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(bottom, #FFFFFF 0%, #000000 300%);
        background-color: currentColor;
        background-attachment: scroll;
    to my CSS file and run my application, the Hierarchy opens with a grey colour but then it flashes back to the default light blue gradient of fusionFx-simple-v2.desktop as soon as it tries to fetch data.
    But if i change these settings on the Hierarchy itself, the colour changes to the grey and it stays grey.
    Any help with this will be appreciated

  • Modifying Existing css of a theme

    Hi,
    The location of your images directory depends on how you setup your APEX instance. Do you know which database version you're using? And whether you've configured your APEX instance to use the embedded gateway, which would be the default configuration on Oracle XE and 11g. Or did you setup APEX with mod_plsq or the APEX listener? Assuming you've installed XE, and you're using the embedded gateway, then your images are actually stored in the database (XML DB), and you would need to access your images folder via FTP or WebDAV. There are several blog posts out there that talk about how to connect to the images folder via FTP, here's one: http://www.apex-blog.com/oracle-apex/accessing-i-using-ftp-170.html If you're using any of the other configurations, your images directory would simply be a local folder on the machine running your web server.
    As for creating a theme, there isn't really a "guide" out there that documents how to build a new theme. But the theme structure, templates, etc are documented in the APEX user guide. To start building a new theme, I would recommend starting out with an existing one that you like, ideally one that was recently modernized by us. I would recommend themes 21-23 as starting points. And then I would create a CSS file to overwrite some of the classes in the theme CSS file, rather than directly modifying the CSS file that ships with APEX. You should also use tools like Firebug, or the built-in developer functions in Chrome/Safari to try out different CSS settings. With our modernized themes you should be able to get most customizations done through CSS. So I would suggest staying away from actually altering the templates as much as possible, at least in the beginning.

  • Is there a way to suppress calls to modify view method?

    We have a WDP application which consists of a tabstrip with multiple tabs. We find that everytime we click on a tab, all the modify view methods in the other tabs get executed, even though it is not necessary.
    This adds to response time BECAUSE WDP executes on the server and there are round trips to the server!
    Is there a way to suppress this?

    Hi Yew
    Why dont you find out which tab has been selected and execute only the relevant set of methods for the tab selected. Check this post for code samples on how to determine the selected tab

  • Authorised to User Fro MODIFY,VIEW and INSERT

    Hi,

    How can i implement this.
    Thanks
    Edited by: 805629 on Jan 26, 2011 11:10 PM

    Hi,
    Create authorization scheme for MODIFY, VIEW and INSERT.
    For MODIFY and INSERT edit button and select Authorization Scheme.
    For VIEW on Edit Application properties go to security tab and select Authorization Scheme for VIEW.
    Sample PL/SQL code for authorization(It will return boolen):
    Scheme Type: PL/SQL Function Returning Boolean
    Code:
    Declare
    v_ret number;
    Begin
    v_ret := AUTH_PKG.can_update(:APP_USER,:APP_PAGE_ID);
    IF V_RET =1 THEN
    RETURN true;

  • OA Framework pages personalization - how to modify View Instance

    OA Framework pages personalization - how to modify View Instance
    Hi
    I need to add additional field to a page.
    I found View Instance but there is no attribute I need.
    Is it possible to modify View Instance from application level
    because not using JDeveloper?
    Thank you,
    malin

    Hi Malin,
    If your VO does not include the column you are looking for, then the only way to achieve is thru VO substitution for which u will have to use jdeveloper.
    You cannot achieve this by personalization.
    Thanks,

  • Modify view object at responsibility level

    Hello,
    One of our business requirements is to change the drop-down values for several list of values based on the responsibility the user is logged in with. For example when creating a new application, the LOV 'Country' needs to list certain countries under the responsibility A and other countries under the responsibility B.
    In order to accomodate this requirement, I have created an extension to the VO oracle.apps.igs.utilities.server.countriesVO that can be found on the create application page. I have tried two different approaches:
    Approach 1:
    I have modified the SQL code and used the import utility jpximport to enable the substitution and everything works fine EXCEPT that the substitution is done at the site level, not the responsibility level. There are no options to enable the substitution at the responsibility level.
    I tried changing the MDS repository. After initial substitution, the query
    BEGIN jdr_utils.printDocument('/oracle/apps/igs/utilities/server/customizations/site/0/CountriesVO'); END;
    returns the XML for personalization (substitution). I deleted that entry using
    BEGIN jdr_utils.deleteDocument('/oracle/apps/igs/utilities/server/customizations/site/0/CountriesVO'); END;
    and used the import utility to import the XML at the responsibility level. the query
    BEGIN jdr_utils.printDocument('/oracle/apps/igs/utilities/server/customizations/responsibility/23331/CountriesVO'); END;
    returns the correct XML but the extension doesnt appear on the screen.
    Do you know what I am missing and if it is possible to enable substitutions at the responsibility level (not site level) at all?
    Approach 2:
    I am still implementing the View Object extension but I am modifying the SQL code to handle the responsibility:
    Original SQL Code:
    SELECT territory_short_name,territory_code
    FROM fnd_territories_vl
    Updated SQL Code:
    SELECT territory_short_name,territory_code
    FROM fnd_territories_vl
    WHERE fnd_global.resp_name <> 'A' OR fnd_global.resp_name IS NULL
    UNION ALL
    SELECT description as territory_short_name,territory_code
    FROM fnd_territories_vl
    WHERE fnd_global.resp_name = 'B'
    ORDER BY 1
    I used the import utility jpximport to enable the substitution and everything works fine EXCEPT that the View Object gets cached and the SQL statement is only executed the first time the object is called. If I clear the cache and I log in using the responsibility A then the countries are correctly displayed. If I login using the responsibility B then the countries for responsibility A are displayed. Same occurs if I clear the cache, login using responsibility B first then switch to responsibility A. Countries for responsibility B are always displayed.
    We need to find a way for the SQL to be re-executed every time this object is called. This object should not be cached. Is that possible at all?
    Thank you for your help
    Benoit

    Substitution of VO & AM will can be done only at site level. However controller extension can be personalized/substituted at any level, which includes responsibility level also.

  • Cannot view css styles in design view

    Is there a way to get Dreamweaver to display style in design
    view when the css files are in virtual folders?
    Have tried using ASP (Vbscript) snippet to write in the

    appears that DW only recognizes hard coded relative links or hard
    coded full URLs.
    Browser displays these documents with no errors.
    Please Help! I have users who will be confused attempting to

    Try using Design Time Stylesheets.
    Open the Design-Time Style Sheets dialog box by doing one of
    the following:
    1. Right-click in the CSS Styles panel, and in the context
    menu select
    Design-time, or
    2. Select Text > CSS Styles > Design-time.

  • Centre not working in Dreamweaver Design View (CSS+HTML)- Preview OK- help!

    Hi there
    I am having a slight problem with DW which I have had before, and fixed, but I cant for the life of me remember how I fixed it.  So any help is much appreciated.
    I am producing a proof site for a client and cannot load it to be live just yet so sorry for any inconvience but I have taken some screen shots and will paste code/html.
    The site is currently sitting like this  in the design view of DW

    Which it usually doesnt.... its usually centred within the design view!!
    this is how it sits in the preview

    Your pasted code is lacking a doctype or anything that would normally be above that stylesheet link.  Is that just an oversight or is it really not there?

  • Address Book possible to modify views in column

    Is it possible to modify the view preference in order to allow the Prefix (a title like Dr) to come after the name, so it shows as Brown, David, Dr?
    That would allow me to sort by last names and see it in an alphabetical list form which I would like.
    I currently am using Now Contact and like its flexibility, but would prefer to switch over to Apple Address Book

    That is not possible, but if you do not use the suffix as a field, maybe you could add that field - which would show after the name - and use it as the prefix field?
    hope this helps

  • Viewing CSS in Dreamweaver...

    Hi All - I can't seem to view any of the css that's being
    brought in via a header.cfm, which is included in the
    Application.cfc when working in Dreamweaver. All works fine when
    previewed in the browser as expected. I've tried "live preview" (i
    think that's what it's called) and still doesn't work.
    This makes life hard for a designer...Any ideas?
