Monitor HP w2448hc needs a driver to be used with my Macbook Pro...
Highly doubtful (see next response.)
...but HP only offers download to Microsoftprograms,...
The software is likely for the built-in webcam.  The monitor/screen portion of the w244hc would NOT need drivers unless it had some funky non-standard amount of pixels.  But the monitor is a standard 1920x1200 which the Mac should detect if you're using the HDMI or DVI connector.
...My screen behave unstable, waves, and I need to do something. Waht do I do?
Are you using the VGA connector?  VGA, being an analog signal is more likely to cause the symptoms you describe (compared to the digital signals DVI or HDMI.)  Often reseating the VGA connector can help.  (IOW, push the VGA connector in harder...on BOTH ends of the cable.)  But VGA would also be more susceptable to signal degradation with anything greater than 1600 pixels.  So if you are using the VGA connector, get the appropriate DVI adapter for your Macbook Pro as soon as you can.

I have a Seagate Slim Portable 500 GB USB 3.0 external hard drive that worked great with my Macbook Pro 13" Retina but gets ejected and won't show files on any iMac. My Macbook Pro and the two different iMacs I tried it on were all using Mountain Lion, so the only difference was the iMac versus Macbook Pro.

I just tried this, no luck...
I connected a different USB cable, still the same problem. Tried both cables with the problematic hard drive on two different computers, still the same problem.
At this point I assume I'll probably need professional help in saving the files, thanks for the assistance.

  • Do i need to reformat a samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro

    Hello
Do i need to reformat a new samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro?
I have an old bipra which i use and i just remember literally plugging it in and going.
    thanks for any info.

I don't know about your particular configuration but usually Disk Utility not recognizing a drive means the drive/card is history.  My G4 running OSX 10.4.11 will format SD cards.
I don't know your model computer. Is this one with a SD slot built in?  If it is, do you have an external reader, or can you try another card in this slot to see if it is a slot problem?

I need to restore my iphone 4 with just ios 5, but it only lets me restore it with the latest version which is ios 5.0.1. What can I do??

Restore it using the computer it normally syncs with, this should not require an iOS update.

I am using duel thunderbolt displays with a MacBook Pro. I only have the option to have sound come from one or the other. Has anyone thought of making the left channel come from both speakers on the left Monitor and the same of the right? If yes, how is that done? The MacBook Pro could even be a center channel if configured in that order.

  • Can I create a windows 7 partition on a 1TB thunderbolt drive to use with my Macbook Pro?

I have a new Retina Display Macbook Pro with a 250gb SSD Drive that is quickly running out of space. My work recently gave me a new project to do some programming that can only be done in a Windows environment. With the price of Thunderbolt drives coming down I was wondering if I could build and boot to a Windows 7 partition on the Thunderbolt Drive and use that when I need to run Windows applications. Also what would the speeds be like? Would I be able to run apps like Photoshop and Illustrator? Also if that works would I be capable of creating a partition for my kids to install their games on?

    Redgoat,
    (1) USB 3.0/2.0 Drive will boot a windows 7 installation,  (hold down option when you boot)
    * I am not yet awake if thunderbolt drives will be detected by the macbook pro for booting purposes.  I cannot see why not
    (2) if you are concerned about speeds you can purchase a SSD USB 3.0 drive but a standard hard drive is quite reasonable with a USB 3.0 connection
and lastly MacBook Pro Retina are mean gaming notebooks and bootcamp is the best way to do windows gaming on it.

  • Reformating external hard drive for use with new MacBook Pro

I'm trying to figure out how to use an existing external hard drive (formatted for a Powermac G4) with my new MacBook Pro. I understand that the file formats are different and that I need to erase the hard drive and reformat it with a GUID partition, but how does one do that?
I've already erased the drive with disk utility (using the old Powermac) and connected it to my MacBook with the hope that it would be recognized. No dice, alas. It doesn't mount at all.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My external harddrives all work just fine with the MacBook Pro. You shouldn't have to reformat anything. I think if you did then it would not be backwards compatable with the older systems. Stick it back in your old computer and try to mount it again, repair permissions shutdown your macbook pro and connect the external drive then reboot

  • What type of internal hard drive can I use for my Macbook pro?

    HI,
My macbook pro stopped working and I took it to Apple store to find out what was wrong with it. I have been told that the hard disk i snot working anymore.
Since I cannot afford to pay Apple's fees, I was told that I can order it online and pput the disk myself.
Can anyone please tell me what do I need to focus on when buying a hard disk and what would be the best hard disk for my macbook pro.
    Thank you

A MacBook Pro uses a 2'5" SATA hard drive, so any hard drive with these specs should work. We recommend HGST and Seagate drives, but Western Digital drives also work correctly. Have a look at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
7200 rpm HDDs will give you extra performance. They are not very expensive

  • How can i drive 2 external displays with my macbook pro?

I just purchased an Macbook Pro and wanted to know if there is a solution to drive 2 external Apple
Cinema Displays simultaeously.  (Set up so displays operate as 1)?

I believe the TripleHead2GO requires all three external displays to be identical. Verify this with a call to Matrox. There is also a maximum resolution limit for the three displays together, which you'll want to be sure is acceptable to you and will look OK on your monitors. Ideally, the maximum resolution the TH2Go supports for each display will be the maximum resolution each display is capable of when used alone, because the displays will be sharpest at their maximum resolutions. If used at any lower resolution setting, they will be noticeably blurry.
I'm not aware of any other three-display options for the Mac that enable the monitors to operate with normal responsiveness (USB video adapters are slow). Yes, the TH2Go is expensive, and that's probably because it's the only game in town.

  • What Monitor Do You Use With Your Macbook Pro

I was looking into purchasing a new monitor for my Macbook Pro. It is an older one, 15" 2.5 GHz. I was going to bite the bullet and get the Apple 24" LED one knowing it is a great monitor overlooking that price is almost double of other monitors. But looking at the compatibility, I have to get a $150 adapter which I think puts me over the price hit.
Just wondering what monitor/displays is everyone using that don't require a $150 adapter?

Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More info and tell us your Machine ID.  This will say MacBook Pro x,y.  It is those x,y values we need to know.

  • Which external hard drive can I use with my Macbook (2009)?

I'm looking to purchase an external hard drive for my 2009 Macbook os x 10.6.8 (the heavier, white laptop). It looks like most hard drives are compatible for Macbook Pro and newer.

If your MB is an early model 2009 you can use either Firewire or USB 2 drives, late model 2009's don't have firewire so you're limited to USB.  I'd stay away from WD and Seagate externals, their enclosures aren't very reliable. The Toshiba Canvio drives work well. Pretty much any drive from OWC is top shelf http://eshop.macsales.com

  • I need to run a old scanner with my macbook pro

    Hi
I just got an old Imacon Photo scanner, which uses the software "flexcolor 4.0.4 mac". The latest mac OS the software is compatible with would be 10.5.x (leopard).
I was wondering, how I could get the scanner going with my set-up:
My primary mac is a macbook pro (10.9.4), which is way to modern for the mentioned software. When buying the scanner it came with a mac g4 tower, which has an OS (10.4.11) that is able to run the software. I have no screen for the tower, though.
I was thinking about the following solutions:
    1. Get parallels on my macbook pro, and then run the software with leopard. The tricky part is the fact that the only connection to the scanner is with a scsi cabel, and there is no scsi card in my macbook pro.
    2. Use the mac g4 tower with the scanner (which works), and then use the macbook pro as a monitor, if that is possible?
    3. The easy solution, buy a screen for the mac g4 tower, and only run the scanner through that. (but it is slow)
    about the software:
    System Requirements
Mac OS X vers.10.2.1 to 10.5.x (Leopard) is supported.
    Compatibility
FlexColor 4.0.4 does not support SCSI on Intel based Macs.
Make sure before upgrading to OS 10.5 ( Leopard ), that your SCSI card is supported under this OS.
This and future version(s) will not offer support for OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

    thanks,
    Deniz Gül

OK, missed the SCSI requirement - go tohttps://www.google.com/#q=scsi+to+usb+adapter and look at the SCSI to USB adapter cables to connect the scanner to the Mac.

  • What Do I Need To Run A External Moniter with a Macbook Pro?

I have a Mac Book Pro 13in Mid 2009 Model. I replaced the RAM to 8GB, I have an HDMI Converter cable to plug my mac book into my 21in moniter, but it seems like it is still lagging behind, with internet connection but the screen just cant keep up or something. Is that a graphics card issue or is there something else that I need to improve the video on my monitor.

    JimmyCheckers,
there’s not enough information to say for sure. If you watch a video which lags on your external monitor on your built-in display instead, does the lagging cease, or is the lagging also observable on the built-in display? If you completely download a video onto your internal disk before watching it, does it still lag on the external monitor? Does it lag on the built-in display?

  • I need to download the latest version of Java, but it will not download because I have version 10.6.8. and Java needs at least version 10.7 to downloadd. I did a software update and it did not update my version like expected. What do I do?

    Thank youuuu!

To upgrade to Lion (10.7) you need to purchase it from the App Store ($20).
Before any major software update be sure to have a complete backup.
Note that when upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion you will lose the capability to run PPC applications through Rosetta.  For example AppleWorks will go away.
