How to monitor ICM Performance & Whih parameters help me to accelarate HTTP response.
RgdsHi,
You don't mention a release so taking a random one:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/28/c0133a62983c0ae10000000a114084/frameset.htm
on the left side you will see both parameters and monitoring for ICM.
parameters:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/61/f5183a3bef2669e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
monitor:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/ac/8f813a34872769e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
if you want to improve speed:
- check for non optimal coding ( if own development)
- check the buffers ( part of the parameters)
- check the timeout settings v
here is a demo profile for high load:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/ac/8f813a34872769e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
I believe there are also CCMS monitors available for ICM.
Hope this helps

Oracle 11g SE One Performance Monitoring and Tuning
I've recently "downgraded" a couple databases from Enterprise Edition to Standard Edition One and in doing so lost the use of Grid Control, specifically Performance Pack. Now, of course, monitoring and tuning, is a bit more cumbersome.
Can anyone offer advice on methods specific to Standard Edition One for monitoring/tuning databases? Specific SQL statements you use, 3rd party software, built-in packages in the database that can be used? There are a large number of performance views that can be queried, and if you capture the current values, wait a known amount of time (whether 1 minute or an hour) and then recapture the current values, you can determine by how much the statistics have changed over the time period. Do not query the views that begin with either "DBA_HIST_" or "DBA_ADVISOR_", since those views belong to the extra cost licenses that are only available with the Enterprise Edition (access to the views is audited).
You could, for instance, track the changes in the time model statistics, and use that as a basis to determine if anything else should be examined. It would probably also make sense to track the changes in the various non-idle wait events. If you have a Windows client PC, you can experiment with one of the scripts that I wrote which tracks changes to the time model statistics, changes to the OS statistics, and changes to the wait events:
http://hoopercharles.wordpress.com/2010/02/09/working-with-oracle%e2%80%99s-time-model-data-3/
If you do not have a Windows client PC, you might be able to determine how the script works and build your own solution.

I moved our internal application from a P3 500mhz CPU 1U
server to a Duo-Core Xeon 1.6ghz server.
The newer box has a larger HD, more RAM, beefier CPU, yet my
application is running at the same or a smidgen faster than the old
server. Oh, I went from a Win2k, IIS 5.0 box to a Windows Server
2003 running IIS 6, mysql 5.0.
I did a Windows Performance Monitor look-see. I added all the
CF services and watched the graphs do their thing. I noticed that
after I ran query on my application, the jrun service Avg. Req Time
is pinned at 100%. Even several minutes after inactivity on the
box, this process is still at 100%. Anyone know if this is a
causing my performance woes? Anyone know what else I can look at to
increase the speed of the app (barring and serious code rebuild)?
Thanks!

There are some tweaks and tips, but I will let more knowledge
folks
speak to these. But I am afraid you problem maybe a code
issue. From
the brief description I would be concerned there is some kind
of memory
leak thing happening in your code and until you track it down
and plug
it up, no amount of memory or performance tuning is going to
do you much
good. -
No one wants my Performance Tuning experience?
I worked as a DBA for 2 years in IT major where my work was confined to Performance Tuning & monitoring
and so I had no opportunity to get the experience of Backup & Recovery,RMAN and other Core DBA responsibilities.
I had to leave in July last year due to my some other career interest. Unfortunately that didn't get
fulfilled.
So from January 15th I have decided to resume my career as a DBA.
I went to a 3 interviews ,but every time my lack of experience in Backup & Recovery and other Core DBA responsibilities is not making my case stronger in the interviews.
I am losing confidence over my chances of getting a job. Most(Almost 95%) of the IT companies want minimum 3 years experience and that too with Backup & Recovery.
I have not yet done OCA (I passed only 1z0 042). So i am planning to give 1z0-007 so that i become OCA.
My questions to all?
1.*How much value OCA hold in the market* along with 2 years experience(In India i am based, more specifically Pune)
2. How should i get the practical experience of Backup & Recovery at home itself?+_
3. I dont have the financial power to go for TRAINING part of the OCP, so how should i make my resume look strong?
4. Doesn't any company want a DBA who hasn't had a experience in Backup & Recovery. Is Performance Tuning & Monitoring experience such a waste?
Cheers,

OK. India has produced a lot of DBA's over the past few years, so I suspect the supply/demand situation is not in your favour, especially with the global economic climate.
And because of career break employers will often have other candidates who look stronger. And they will have certifications.
So you've been looking a month and got 3 interviews .... that's actually not that bad.
My questions to all?
1.*How much value OCA hold in the market* along with 2 years experience(In India i am based, more specifically Pune)In general not a lot. However the only thing stopping you gettig an 10g DBA OCA is an SQL exam pass. Now if you can't pass that exam then you don't deserve the job. And given you've passed 1z0-042 an employer wll ask why who haven't passed the SQL exam (especially if you're into tuing and performance). People in India seem to love 1z0-007 .... I prefer to see people who have taken 1z0-051 or 1z0-047. However I suspect you cannot afford to spend the extra time on 1z0-047 as you need to concentrate on backup/recovery.
2. How should i get the practical experience of Backup & Recovery at home itself?+_Hopefully you've got kit to practice on.
3. I dont have the financial power to go for TRAINING part of the OCP, so how should i make my resume look strong?Resume's are not my best area. However in your case studying and passing 1z0-043 will help. 1z0-043 is 50% backup and recovery so that has synergy with your weak area. If finance is an issue consider a WDP course if you can get one. Some eligible courses are cheaper than others, but even they may be beyond reach,
4. Doesn't any company want a DBA who hasn't had a experience in Backup & Recovery. Is Performance Tuning & Monitoring experience such a waste?
Obviously performance tuning and monitoring is not a waste ..... but remember Oracle is increasingly attemting to automate these in later vesions, and different techniques are available in 11gR2 compared to 9i.

I want to take the certification Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning exam 1Z0-054 and want to write the exam.
To earn the OCE credentials, I know that we need to take training from Oracle University. I am not an OCP currently.
Can I write the exam now and later take the course to meet the certification requirements? I know it is not the right way, but I can not pay $3000 for the course as of now. I can write the exam through self study. I want to check if I can take the exam now and later take the course.
Is it mandatory to take the course before taking the exam?
Thanks,
naveen.Indeed you can take the exam now, and subsequently earn the 11g PERFTUNE OCE credential when you either:
1) complete, submit and get verified the OU authorised 11g perftune course (possible but seems a little cart before horse).
or
2) Become 11g DBA OCP. -
Performance Tuning - Suggestions
Hi,
I have an ABAP (Interactive List) Program times out in PRD very often. The ABAP run time is about 99%. The DB time is less than 1%. All the select statements has the table index in place. Actually it isprocessing all the Production Orders (Released but not Confirmed/Closed). Please let me know if you have any suggestion.
Appreciate Your Help.
Thanks,
Kannan.Hi
1) Dont use nested select statements
2) If possible use for all entries in addition
3) In the where addition make sure you give all the primary key
4) Use Index for the selection criteria.
5) You can also use inner joins
6) You can try to put the data from the first select statement into an Itab and then in order to select the data from the second table use for all entries in.
7) Use the runtime analysis SE30 and SQL Trace (ST05) to identify the performance and also to identify where the load is heavy, so that you can change the code accordingly

ABAP performance depends upon various factors and in devicded in three parts:
1. Database
2. ABAP
3. System
Run Any program using SE30 (performance analys) to improve performance refer to tips and trics section of SE30, Always remember that ABAP perfirmance is improved when there is least load on Database.
u can get an interactive grap in SE30 regarding this with a file.
also if u find runtime of parts of codes then use :
Switch on RTA Dynamically within ABAP Code
*To turn runtim analysis on within ABAP code insert the following code
SET RUN TIME ANALYZER ON.
*To turn runtim analysis off within ABAP code insert the following code
SET RUN TIME ANALYZER OFF.
Always check the driver internal tables is not empty, while using FOR ALL ENTRIES
Avoid for all entries in JOINS
Try to avoid joins and use FOR ALL ENTRIES.
Try to restrict the joins to 1 level only ie only for tables

Avoid creation of index as far as possible
Avoid operators like <>, > , < & like % in where clause conditions

IPhone Performance Tuning Using Shark
Hi, I'm trying to do some performance tuning and am having some trouble using Shark.
*Problem #1*: No matter what configuration I choose ( debug, release, simulator, device ) the "Shark" menu item under "Run" in XCode is greyed out. How do I enable this feature so I can run my application using Shark through XCode?
*Problem #2*: I've been able to run Shark on it's own while my iPhone simulator is running and have tried to capture my application. However, for some reason my application name "TestApp" shows up multiple times in the drop down in Shark when selecting which process to monitor. They all have the "TestApp" and most of them have a number after it such as 94452. Any ideas on why this happens and which one is the process I should choose?
*Problem #3*: I've tried simply selecting one of the four or five "TestApp" processes from the Shark drop down and running it. It does capture information and gives me the results, however most of the symbols are missing even though my project has "Gererate Debug Symbols" check box checked in the project settings. Is there something else I need to do in order to get all symbols to show up?
My hope is that by fixing problem #1, it will automatically fix problems #2 and #3.
Any help would be great! Thanks!

where is the original version of the executable on the filesystem? i can't seem to find it.
Look in your project's folder. It's in the "build" folder, in another folder probably named "Debug-iphoneos". When you choose the right file, (the executable, not the ".dSYM" file), the bottom of the file panel will fill out in black with information. If you choose the wrong one (like the simulator executable), the information in the file open panel will be red and you'll get an error message.

What are the best practices for Database management and performance tuning?
Hello,
I want to ensure that I am using the best practices for managing and maintaining our Database.
Is there any documentation out there that outlines how to maintain and ensure top performance out of our database?
Thank you!
John SeftonI appreciate the responses, however this is not the information I am looking for.
I am specificaly looking for best practices invloving the managment and performance tuning.
Example: are their tools that I can install that will monitor the size and response time of the database and alert me if there is degradation in performance?
Are there specific periodic activities I should be doing to garuntee that my database will continue to function that way it is supposed to?
Or is this a fire and forget solution that does not need this attention? -
Looking for Bi Performance & Tuning book for BI...
Hi

"SAP NetWeaver BW: Administration and Monitoring:
offers a lot of insight into what happens when loading happens and also talks in length about how to tune the system using RSADMIN parameters etc...
I found this book very useful and in fact it helped me a lot preparing for the BI Professional exam in data modeling ...
and to answer your question - the BW performance tuning book also talks a lot about memory allocation / consumption etc which might be stuff that is usually used by BASIS ... and since the concepts are the same - you could go with the 3.5 book and get to know the options you have ...

Report running for long time & performance tuning
Hi All,
(1). WebI report is running for long time.so what are the steps i need to check for it ?
(2). Can you tell me about performance tuning in BO ?
please help me.....
Thanks
Kumar(1). WebI report is running for long time.so what are the steps i need to check for it ?
The first step is to see if the problem lies in the query on the data source or in webi itself. Depending on the data source there are different ways to extract the query and try to run it against the database. Which source does your report uses?
(2). Can you tell me about performance tuning in BO ?
I would recommend to start by reading the administrator's guide. There is a section about how to improve performance.

Oracle 11g Performance tuning approach ?
Hello Experts,
Is it the right forum to follow oracle performance tuning discussions ? If not, let me know what will be the forum to pick up some thread on this subject.
I am looking for performance tuning approach for oracle 11g. I learned there are some new items in 11g in this regard. For persons, who did tuning in earlier versions of Oracle,
what will be the best way adopt to 11 g?
I reviewed the 11g performance tuning guide, but I am looking for some white papers/blogs with case studies and practical approaches. I hope that you have used them.
What are the other sources to pick up some discussions?
Do you mind, share your thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
RIThe best sources of information on performance tuning are:
1. Jonathan Lewis: http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/all-postings/
2. Christian Antognini: http://www.antognini.ch/
3. Tanel Poder: http://blog.tanelpoder.com/
4. Richard Foote: http://richardfoote.wordpress.com/

Well, i think there's a lot of stuff about it, so i'll keep it kinda short. My pm-suspend log seems to say everything is more or less successful on the suspension process, which is good! Initial commandline parameters: Wed Dec 29 00:12:21 GMT 2010: R
