Monthly double-declining depreciation requirement

Our client has a monthly double-declining depreciation requirement.
As you know, SAPu2019s standard double-declining method is to calculate the monthly depreciation by annual depreciation rate based on the annual net book value. But our client want to calculate the monthly depreciation by monthly depreciation rate based on the monthly net book value. Is there any configuration or enhancement that can meet the similar calculation requirement? u201C
Thanks & Rgds

Hi Markus,
We are using ECC6.0, can you please express with more details? Any experience can be shared?
Thanks

They're using Double Declining method and they want the NBV to be zero in the end of the usefull life.
Does anyone know how to configure this ? Please let me know.

Hi there, I currently subscribe to Adobe Pro Subscription (yearly) and I also subscribe to Adobe PDF pack (monthly).  I only require Adobe to read and create PDF documents such as converting word/excel document or a web based document.  Can someone tell me if I'm doubling up as I'm not sure of the differences between the products and would like to save a few dollars.

Acrobat Pro can do a lot more than the PDF Pack online service.
Try if you can do everything you need with PDF Pack; otherwise keep Acrobat Pro.

  • Double declining in asset subnumber

    Hi SAP Guru,
I need to know why SAP system behave cutting down the depreciation value into 2 for asset sub number 1.
With double declining multiplication factor 25% and maximum percentage rate 2.5%. The date of capitalized is 10.03.2014 and start depreciation is 22.02.2014. which mean the manual calc depre for 2014 is 10month.
    (25.183.558*25%)*(10/12)= 5.246.574
The main asset is already finish depreciation and leave NBV ZERO since 2011.
the question is why ordinary depreciation for this year 2014 just a half 2.623.288?
    Thank you master.

    Hi Prince,
System is calculating the depreciation correctly. Your depreciation is based on useful life.
    (25.183.558/8)*10/12= 2,623,288.
You have taken 25% instead of 8 years. Due to this the difference raised.

  • Depreciation requirement

    Hi,
I come with a special requirement for depreciation in Canada, the following is a sample of the calculation method:
Asset Category     Recommended Useful life/ Depreciation Rate     Depreciation Method
    Office Equipment     30%     Reducing balance
For all assets with reducing balance method, the depreciation of first year  is to take 50% only. Below is example:
If an office equipment is purchased in Mar-09 at USD1,000,  the 2009 depreciation (from March to Dec)  would be calculated as :
    USD1000 x 30% = USD300 (First full year depreciation value)
    USD 300 x 50% = USD150 ( take 50% of first year value  as 2009 full year depreciation)
USD150 /10 = USD 15 (monthly depreciation to be booked from March to Dec)
NBV of this item by end Dec would be USD 850.
2nd year would become normal to calculate depreciation at USD 850 x 30% = USD 255.
I've tested the standard sap depreciation key, but no one can match. Can anyone help me with this? and Is it valid under Canada GAAP? thanks.

Create a multlevel depreciation rule and assign a period controle rule that the depreciation start on the begin of the fiscal year
    Multilevel rule
    1 year 50
    from 2 year **%
The depreciation start on the begin of the fiscal year then you have in all cases 50% for the fiscal year

  • Double click now required to use survey response buttons - why?

If you click on a response button in a Benchpoint survey, the answer defaults to the first choice on the response list. A Double click is now required to hit the right choice.
This is confusing respondents who have been used to a single click for years.
What re-coding information can you give us?
The URL below is a sample survey which demonstrates the problem in (Firefox 4 only)
    Thanks

This is related to the new HTML5 parser in Firefox 4. It is a bit stricter than the parser in Firefox 3.6. You can confirm the difference by toggling the parser off.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''html5''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''html5.parser.enable''' to toggle it to false (it will turn bold).
Then reload the problem survey page and test again.
I think the problem is that there is a label tag around the entire table containing the radio buttons. If you choose View Source, press Ctrl+f, and search for '''<label><table''' you will see what I mean.
To test the effect of removing those label tags, you can copy this bookmarklet and paste it to the address bar on a survey page and press Enter to run it.
    javascript:var lt=document.querySelectorAll("label > table"); for (i=0;i<lt.length;i++){p=lt[i].parentNode; p.parentNode.insertBefore(lt[i], p); p.parentNode.removeChild(p)}; void 0;
That fixes it for me. Does it work for you?

  • Depreciation freeze for some asset for some months.

    Hi

    Hi Danish,
One possibility is to use Shut Down feature.. and the other is using a depreciation key 0000, which is a time dependent depreciation feature and is available only from ECC 6.0 EHP4 onwards..
Before EHP4, if u use depreciation Key 0000, system reverses the entire epreciation posted in that year in that particular month, but from EHP4 onwards, system does not reverse if you use 0000 depreciation key, but only posts Zero depreciation for those months when you have applied 0000, As soon as you restore your original depreciation keys, it will again post normally..
    Hope this helps..

  • Declining Base Depreciation

I have encountered a problem with a  depreciation requirement for my client. The asset class is supposed to be depreciated using DB 150%, however, the way it is to be calculated is that the amount is to be calculated for the year, and then then depreciated evenly (SL) every month. Please ask if you need clarification. Points will be awarded. How do i create a key that will calculate in this way? is it at all possible?  Thanks
    Raja

    Dear members of this forum,
please have a look at rules of engagement:
Do not ask for points - This forum should be firstly about information exchange; points are an incentive and a way of saying thanks.
Asking for points is like asking someone to say "thank you": The only time we do this in real life is when teaching a child good manners.
Saying it to an adult is insulting, so why do it in the forums? If someone keeps asking questions without awarding points, simply stop answering them or use the abuse button to report it

  • Asset monthly depreciation u2013 at acquisition month

    Hello
We use monthly method at - depreciation periods,
At the acquisition month of an asset u2013 the first depreciation period is calculated for a whole month.
Is there an option of calculate the first month regarding the partial part the asset exists at this month?
    Regards
    Tami

    Hi Tami ,
If I understood you correctly. You male for example a aquisition in 23.0X and you want the  depr. starts exactly on 23.0X ; right?
The existing period control methods are only   period start date /  mid-period / period end....
You can make daily depreciation,  daily depreciation ignores the period control.
Perhaps note  1131960 offers a solution.

  • Depreciation Key GAP

    Hi SAP Gurus,
Depreciation Method GAP: Need to configure a new key please see the requirement below:
Starts out with double declining balance method
Switches to sum-of-years digits depreciation method when it is more advantageous
Full thing calculated as remaining value over the remaining life.
Above is the requirement from my client. As always, your input is highly valuable. Can you please let me know how can I configure this key? I mean what base method, dec method, prd. control, changeover, etc.... i supposed to configure in order to serve my purpose.
    Thanks,
    Mohid

    Hi Nathan,
This much work i have already done, but still not sure if this is what my requirement says:
I know this can be done through the depreciation key maintaining phase deprecations and using the base methods , declining balance methods , period control and multilevel method suited for each phase. In this case there will be three phases . So, I maintained two phases one upto life of the asset and the next after life of the asset. In the second phase is triggered when the sum digit method depreciation is more than double declining balance method  and the third phase will change under what ever is the condition for the change . The required configuration for getting the values under different phase is accordingly configured ( the suited base method , declining balance method etc., are chosen to enable the calculation of depreciation as per the method).
Phase1     Base Method  0012   Period Control  004   Multi-level method  xxx  Changeover method(No clue)
Phase2     Nase method   0014   Period control  004  Mutil- level method xxx  Do i have to still give a changeover method here?
Phase3: I am not sure what goes here?
If I am doing anything wrong here please let me know. I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Mohid

  • Depreciation to a salvage value of 0

For tax purposes an item my be depreciated over a period of years, n. With the straight-line method of depreciation, each year the item depreciates by 1/nth of its original value. (This is where I get confused because the depreciation during
the year is added to the depreciation at the end of the next year. Why?) With the double-declining-balance method of depreciation, each year the item depreciates by 2/nths of its value at the
beginning  of that year. (in the last year it is depreciated by its value at the beginning of the year.) Write a program that:
    a) requests description of item, year of purchase, cost, estimated life, and method of depreciation.

Where did this code come from?   It doesn't look like .Net code, and will need to be adjusted in order to work in a .Net applcaition.
You should start by setting out what you want to do.  Do you have the formulae that you are trying to use?  Do you know what input is required for each formaula, and how will you be collecting and validating it?   What output are you
are expecting to see, and how do you want these results displayed?
You need to set this out in detail, including complete sets of sample data with results, before you start thinking about code.  If you set out your task in adequate detail then the process of converting it into code becomes very straightforward.
If you try to work out the code at the same time as you work out what you are doing, it just becomes too difficult.

  • Asset Accounting - Mid month Convention

    Hi,
I have a problem in Asset Accouting for configuring a mid-month convention (and mid-quarter), settings. I activated the use of half-month in my company code (value 15), and defined Calender assignment for my Fiscal year variant, for Period control 03. The depreciation start date is correctly calculated for the tax depreciation area (period control 03). But, for my book and group depreciation area (period control 01 - 1st of acquisition month), the system also calculating 15/mm.
For Book Depreciation area I need to calculate depreciation for the entire period in which Asset is acquired (period Control 01) Currently If I acuire the asset before 15th of month its calculating depreciation for entire month and If I acquire the asset after 15th of month its calculating only for half month.
Is there a way to have mid-month calculation only applying to specific depreciation area ? Did i miss something in the customizing or do I have to change the period control 01 to force the start date at the first of the current month ?
If you require any futher info to provide input on this issue, Please let me know.
Thanks in advance to everyone who could help me.

As long as the depreciation keys are different between the depreciation areas you should be able to have one calculating at mid-month and the other at full month, respectively.
Just a thought: Go into transaction "OAVH" and make sure that the periods are assigned correctly for your Period Control "1".  It should have one line item with a "0" in the month and day field and the period field should be 'blank'.
If the Period Control is correct, you should try creating a custom Period Control that defines each period as the last day of the month.
    Hope this helps,
    Chad

  • Indian Income Tax Depreciation Calculation

    Hi
Can any of you please explain/tell me where are the exact SAP configuration settings for the calculation of depreciation calculation as per Indian Income Tax Act by meeting below requirements as per Section 32 of Indian Income Tax Act:
    1. If the Asset is being purchased and used in a Financial Year for 180 Days or below 180 Days  -  Depreciation has to be calculated 50% of Annual Depreciation.
2.If the Asset is being purchased and used in a Financial Year for more than  180 Days   -  Depreciation has to be calculated 100% of Annual Depreciation.
    Waiting for your valuable reply.
    Thanks and Regards
    P.V.S.R.Gupta

But if I follow your suggestion of taking Period Control Method 04, it would calculate 1/2 Year Depreciaton only
No.  If the asset is in use for >180 days, then it's acquisition date must therefore occur in periods 1-6 which will set the depreciation start date to the beginning of the year.  This will result in a full year's worth of depreciation.
If the asset is in use for <180 days then the start date is set to mid year which results in only 6 months worth of depreciation to be posted.
All of this can be adjusted per your FYV and on a yearly basis if the FYV is year dependent in the asset period control calendar assignments table.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know the statutory requirements of India but I know how FI-AA works and can't think of an alternative solution for you.
