More on Building the SDK

Question

Since the "bad links" problem with the distributed cygwin looked severe, I tried building using the distributed cygwin64. 
This stumbled several times as follows
--- building with cygwin64 --
  for underermined reasons, the gcc and g++ picked to be used were nonexistant gcc-4 and g++-4. I papered
over these problems by creating links.
  make "make" failed, complaining the libglob had no index..  The selected ranlib tool was
i686-pc-cygwin-ranlib.  I hid that executable so /usr/bin/ranlib was used instead.  With that
hack make make succeeded
  make "cmake" failed due to undefined symbol `cygwin_conv_to_win32_path'.  Other traffic
suggests this is a deprecated API which was removed in cygwin64

cygwin64 seemed to have trouble, I tried cggwin32.  Same problems with the missing g++ and gcc links,
but make and cmake build.
in make/doc makeinfo fails with complaint @itemx must follow @item.  Other traffic
suggests makeinfo 5.2 (from the current sygwin release) is more strict.  Reverting to makeinfo 4.x avoided
that problem.
Make asdocs,
Error: '/cygdrive/c/crossbridge-master/test/aspackages.xml' is not a file
removed asdocs from makefile
it is a file.  The exact nature of this problem is unresolved, but making the docs is not crucial.  I removed
make asdocs from the build.
make basictools fails with
basictools:
cygdrive/c/crossbridge-master/tools/as/as.cpp:260:25: error: ‘unlink’ was not declared in this scope
      unlink(_path.c_str());
It appears the patient is dying of bit decay.

You can try to delete the com.apple.system preferences cache in the user library folder/ Caches folder.
You can also delete all saved application states located in the user library folder/ Saved Application States folder.
