MOSS 2007 Database Migration using SQL connection alias change throwing error

Hi Folks,
We are trying to move SharePoint SQL server from one DC to another DC.
Since we have made SQL server in new DC with other name so opted SQL server connection alias method to remap SQL mapping with existing farm.
After creating SQL alias we are able to browse central admin sites but could not able to browse any other sharepoint sites.
Event viewer showing below exception
SQL database login failed. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.
Login failed for user 'computername$'.
Any view will be much appreciable.
Regards

First: Putting SQL Server on a domain controller is not recommended.
Are the two domain controllers in different domains? Is the SharePoint server in the same domain as the new SQL instance?
Do you have a SharePoint farm or a standalone installation? A
common cause of the error you're seeing is if the application pools are using Network Service or Local System which can be the case of a standalone installation.

  • IBM DB2 to Oracle Database Migration Using SQL Developer

    Hi,
We are doing migration of the whole database from IBM DB2 8.2 which is running in WINDOWS to Oracle 11g Database in LINUX.
As part of pre-requisites we have installed the Oracle SQL Developer 4.0.1 (4.0.1.14.48) in Linux Server with JDK 1.7. Also Established a connection with Oracle Database.
    Questions:
    1) How can we enable the Third Party Database Connectivity in SQL Developer?
I have copied the files db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar from the IBM DB2 (Windows) to Oracle (Linux)
    2) Will these JAR files are universal drivers? will these jar files will support in Linux platform?
    3) I got a DB2 full privileged schema name "assistdba", Shall i create a new user with the same name "assistdba" in the Oracle Database & grant DBA Privillege? (This is for Repository Creation)
    4) We have around 35GB of data in DB2, shall i proceed with ONLINE CAPTURE during the migration?
    5) Do you have any approx. estimation of Time to migrate a 35 GB of data?
    6) In-case of any issue during the migration activity, shall i get an support from Oracle Team (We have a Valid Support ID)?
    7) What are all the necessary Test Cases to confirm the status of VALID Migration?
Request you to share the relevant metalink documents!!!
Kindly guide me in-order to go-ahead with the successful migration.
    Thanks in Advance!!!

    Hi Klaus,
Continued with the above posts - Now we are doing another database migration from IBM DB2 to Oracle, which is very less of data (Eg: 20 Tables & 22 Indexes).
As like previous database migration, we have done the pre-requirement steps.
    DB Using SQL Developer
    Created Migration Repository
Connected with the created User in SQL Developer
    Captured the Source Database
    Converted Captured Model to Oracle
Before Translation Phase we have clicked on the "Proceed Summary"

  • SQL - Database access using Oracle.connect(getCLass(), "connect.properties")..IM LOST

    Hi,
I use Oracle.connect(getClass(),"connect.properties") before all of my #sql statements. If there are a bunch of methods with #sql statements, I use the connection method. I think this is my problem and Id like some feedback from other people.
    1) Should i be using an Oracle.connect statement before every #sql?
    2) If so, does it create new connections all the time or does it just know there is a current connection so it doesnt keep adding new connections?
    3) Is there a way to get one connection and then test to see if there is a connection so that i dont keep getting new connections?
    4) Do I have to close the connections? I tried Oracle.close(); but got some wierd errors. I read somewhere that If autocommit is true, you dont have to close jdbc connections.
Thanks for your time and I appreciate any feedback that anyone has to offer.

    Hi Adam,
    Please find the answers inline.
No, you don't have to call this each time, just call this once to intialize your DefaultContext and from then on, whenever
#sql is used, it would fetch the connection from the DefaultContext.
    2) If so, does it create new connections all the time or does it just know there is a current connection so it doesnt keep adding new connections? No, it doesn't create connections each time.
    3) Is there a way to get one connection and then test to see if there is a connection so that i dont keep getting new connections? There would be only one connection
    4) Do I have to close the connections? I tried Oracle.close(); but got some wierd errors. I read somewhere that If autocommit is true, you dont have to close jdbc connections.The connection has to be closed explicitly using Oracle.close();
For samples on using connect.properties refer to,

  • Online Migration using SQL developer

    Hi All,
We are planning to migrate our production SQL server.2005 database to oracle 10g. If I use online migration using Oracle SQL Developer Tool to migrate data from SQL server 2005 to Oracle 10g, then will it migrate all those records that are inserted into SQL server 2005 LIVE database after the time when online migration process started?
For example let say the migration process started at 10:00 PM in the night and it found 200,00,000 records in transaction table, it will take 3-4 hours to migrate all of them to oracle, now during this migration time the LIVE SQL server database will still be getting new records, so will 200,00,000 plus newly inserted records will get migrated to Oracle 10g or only those which were initially counted when migration started?
    Kindly advise!
    Best Regards!
    Irfan

    Hi Irfan,
It sounds easy to find that out by a little test. I would expect that only those records will be transferred that are in the remote table at the moment when the migration started. Online data move uses COPY via the JDBC connection, as far as I know.
200,000,000 records and an online data move is a contradiction. From the manual:
Mode: Online causes the table data to be moved by SQL Developer when you have completed the necessary information in the wizard; Offline causes SQL Developer to generate scripts after you have completed the necessary information in the wizard, and you must later run those scripts if you want to move the data. (Online moves are convenient for moving small data sets; offline moves are useful for moving large volumes of data.)
If you are using offline data move, then you are using BCP to unload the data from the SQL Server database, and then the rules of BCP apply how the records are unloaded.
What are you trying to achieve? Do you want to keep the two databases in synch? Then a migration does not seem to me the best way. There are other products, like the Database Gateway for MS SQL Server, or the Golden Gate product.
    Best regards

  • MOSS 2007 Content DB used in transnational replication

    Hello,
I have configured Transnational replication on Moss 2007 content DB over WAN, ?But it works well with small dbs of size 10-12 GB but with 40-60GB database sites are running in error like 404 Site not found....Checked in logs not luck found there also..
    Any help guys.....
    Regards,
    Ashish

    Hello,
To my knowledge only database mirroring and log shipping was supported with MOSS 2007. Log shipping is specially recommended for content
    databases.
The following post talks about the benefits of using database mirroring vs log shipping:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mikewat/archive/2007/07/28/database-mirroring-and-log-shipping-which-is-better.aspx

    hello,
Thanks for the prompt reply, But would like to include the requirements as i need both end DB active so that can use application from both side and need to replicate to the point 24/7, that's why i had configure
    1 way transnational replication.
And was successfully able to configure Replication for all varying size DBS but problem is that Site is not coming up for 50GBs Database, SO would like to ask if There any size limitation from Transnational replication with MOSS 2007.

  • MOSS 2007 native mode on SQL 2012 with compatibility mode?

We are on MOSS 2007 SP 3 64-bit (just native, it is not SSRS integration mode) running on SQL 2008 R2 SP2 64-bit. Can the databases move to SQL 2012 with compatibility mode?

    Hi,
As far as I know, SQL 2012 is not listed as compatible with SharePoint 2007 on the
technet articles. If you want to upgrade to SharePoint 2010, then you can move the databases and upgrade the database. If you just want to use SQL 2012 with SharePoint 2007, I think it is not applicable.

  • Database Migration MS Sql Server 2008 to Oracle

I have downloaded the latest updates for SQL Developer and am attempting to migrate my SQL Server 2008 DB to Oracle 11g. I get the following error when attempting to test my Sql Server connection:
Status : Failure - Test failed: I/O Error: SSO Failed: Native SSPI library not loaded. Check the java.library.path system property.
After attempting and following several posts, I have been unsuccessful in getting past this error - I have downloaded and placed in the specified directories the various .dll's suggested....
Any help is of course appreciated.

Boy do I look foolish. I told this guy that the owners of the application answer questions here... suerly he would get a reply.
Such is the problem with "free" software. No one to blame when it doesn't work.

  • Need help with database migration using export/import

    Hi,
I am planning to do a database migration from 8.0.6 to 10.2.0.4. I am using export/import. Please answer some of my queries:
    1) Do i need to do full export using SYS/SYSTEM user.
    exp80 system/manager file=c:full.dmp log=c:\full.txt full=y consistent=y
    2) Will there be any data corruption while export.
    3) Is export/import the only method of migration/upgradation.
    Please help
    Thanks.

I'll answer the specifics that I know about your questions, but please look at the post from Srini for additional info:
    1) Do i need to do full export using SYS/SYSTEM user.
exp80 system/manager file=c:full.dmp log=c:\full.txt full=y consistent=yA full export will move as much information (metadata/data) as possible. In order to do a full export/import, you need to do this from a
privileged account. A privileged account is one with EXP_FULL_DATABASE for export and IMP_FULL_DATABASE for import.
    2) Will there be any data corruption while export. The data in the objects that you are exporting is being read, nothing is written to user data. I'm not sure what this is available in 8.0.6,
but if you need a consistent export, look to see if consistent=y is available in 8.0.6. All this means is that the dump file created will have
    consistent data in it.
    3) Is export/import the only method of migration/upgradation.If you are changing hardware, the only supported way from 8.0 to 10.2.0.4, that I know of, is using exp/imp.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Vijay,
Please replace the code with the following one.. I think it will work now.. Apparently there is no problem with field to change option. However, please note that you are checking the help option (below fox editor) while providing the sequence for material and Plant. It might happen that system is looking for plant and material option and you are providing as material and plant option.
    Please check the code below:

I am new to oracle myself, so I apologize if this information is not helpful. But I have a number of connections to a local database on my laptop. The way that I connected is using the 'Basic' tab with the following settings:
    Hostname: localhost
    Port: 1521
    SID: orcl
And of course the username above.
I hope that might be helpful.

  • DataBase Migration from SQL server 2005 to SQL server 2012

What are the challenges and steps to be taken care for proper migration of the Database.
Applications are using the Visual Studio 2012.
    saikalyan

Few things that I can think of -
Verify all logins and users are migrated correctly.
Some of the SQL Server 2005 features/code could be deprecated in SQL Server 2012. Changes could be required before or after migration.
Some of the queries could have different performance (better or worse) on 2012 due to changes in query optimizer.
The applications/SSIS/DTS config files are updated to use the new server/instance name.
DNS alias names from the old servers (if used) are moved to the new server to have minimal impact on connection strings.
Plan for downtime of applications and batch processes.
Notify developers about the migration and the new server name(s)

    Hi Naveen,
We would like to migrate our Siebel database from Sql Server 2005 to Oracle 11g RAC. Can you suggest the best way to do that ?You will need much more which suggestions.
You will need a Siebel professional which has done this type of migration. Migrating the Database is not a task so hard, after migrating your environment should be functional and healthy it is usually the task problematic.
The hardware can be changed if needed. Can you please suggest the best approach ?We can recommend the minimum recommended, but this documentation already does, you need to do a analysis on your environment and ask a vendor Siebel tell the which is recommended for you and how to find the best "number" for you, in your case is very hard because everything changes.
