Most recent version of Adobe Reader for Mac OS Intel 10.4.11?

I needed to update my version of Adobe Reader. I clicked the appropriate designation - "Mac OS Intel 10.4.11-10.5.5" - downloaded the software, and then tried to install it.
I got the error message "Couldn't open "Adobe Reader X Installer.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5."
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Other than a $39 call to Adobe to find out WHY the software they designated for my version of Mac OS doesn't seem to work, what can I do?

Hi,
Reader X does not support OS X 10.4.11. You can install Reader X only on leopard and Snow leopard series of MACs
Try using latest version of Reader 9. You can get it from the link: http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/ and select Reader 9.4 in version selection dropdown menu.
Thanks,
Karan

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

  • Why do I have to reboot my computer in order to install the most recent version of adobe reader??

Why do I have to reboot my computer in order to install the most recent version of adobe reader??
After installing the most recent version of adobe reader, a prompt popped up, asking me to reboot my computer to complete installation. Why is it asking me to do this? Is it safe? And (if so,) how should I go about doing this??

I don't know why - I never had to restart my computer after installing any Adobe updates.

  • Adobe Reader for Mac messes up my mouse driver

After installing the latest version of Adobe Reader for Mac on Tiger 10.4, viewing any .pdf file has the effect of changing many of my single mouse clicks into double mouse clicks until reboot.  It begins when I click on the page-down sidebar and the reader jumps ahead two pages.  Next, randomly about 80% of my mouse clicks become double-clicks in any application until I reboot.  I thought I had seen this problem in an earlier version but it seemed to resolve itself.  With the latest reader, right after reading a .pdf file I have the double-click problem.
I've dragged everything I could find from Adobe into the trash bin and use "Preview" to view pdf file.  No double-click problem.

If you subscribed you will get a new email for every post here. Otherwise you have to manually check. What you are seeing is not typical. I'd try the typical troubleshooting techniques.
    1) Fixing Permissions.
    2) Emptying various system caches.
I'd recommend you get a copy of Applejack. It can do all that and find disk directory issues. Cost is reasonable---free.

  • How do I/can I re-order pages in the latest Android version of Adobe Reader for my Galaxy S3?

How do I/can I re-order pages scanned into a PDF file in the latest Android version of Adobe Reader for my Galaxy S3?

No version of Adobe Reader can re-order pages. You can do this with Acrobat, however (for Mac and Windows).

  • I have a new version of adobe reader for android on my tablet now i cannot delete files

I have a new version of adobe reader for android on my tablet. Now there is no delete tab to get rid of old files

Sorry, I was asking about the version of your Android operating system.  But if your PDF documents are not stored on an SD card, it does not matter which Android version you have.
To permanently delete a PDF document from your Android device using Adobe Reader,
In the Reader home screen, tap Documents in the left pane.
Long press (press & hold) the PDF document that you want to delete.
Tap the trash can icon in the top toolbar.
Please note that there is no Undo for the Delete operation.
If you have many files that you want to delete, it would be easier to download and install a File Manager app and delete files at once.

  • Firefox not opening PDF with Adobe Reader for Mac

I can't open PDF in Firefox with Adobe Reader for Mac, what should i do?

I have come across this problem, but i have solved my problem. The default PDF viewer with Firefox browser on Mac is Preview, so you can't use adobe reader to open PDF files, if you want to use Adobe Reader to open pdf with Firefox on mac, you need set adobe reader as your mac's default pdf viewer. Do as follows:
    1. Select any PDF file and choose File > Get Info.
    2. Choose Adobe Reader as your default PDF files viewer from the Browser in Download Action window.
    3. Click OK to set Adobe Reader as your default PDF files viewer.

    Hi guidolal,
Are you facing the issue with any pdf's on the Mac.
Have you tried downloading a sample pdf like any Adobe help file from the website and then check if you are able to launch it fine via Reader?
    Regards,
    Rave

  • Adobe reader for mac cannot read pdf

I have the latest version of Adobe Reader, the latest OS for Mac, and the latest Safari browser update.  but after installing Reader, the ability to access a PDF has become mostly restricted. the full gray screen comes up and a document cannot be accessed.  what should I do?

There should be an icon that instructs you to trust the Adobe Reader application for this website. Click on it to approve the action. This is part of a new security practice.

  • Adobe Reader for Mac OS 10.4.11

I need to download a PDF off of my health insurance website (Anthem) and it is requiring that I have the latest version of Adobe Reader in order to do so.  I do not see a solution on here for how to get the latest Adobe Reader while running Mac OS 10.4.11 Intel.  What can I do?  Why won't it just let me download the form?  I don't even need to open it.  I just need to forward it to my dentist so I can get my medical insurance to pay for the teeth I broke in an accident.  Please help me.

    Hi Hannah,
Just to confirm, for OS 10.4.11, download Reader 9.4.0 from link:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/9.x/9.4.0/en_US/AdbeRdr940_en _US_i386.pkg.zip
The link given by Claudio González is that of Reader X (10.0). This is supported from 10.5 onwards. It will not work in 10.4.11. Also this link is for intel based macs. If you are using ppc, then use:
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/9.x/9.4.0/en_US/AdbeRdr940_en _US_ppc.pkg.zip
Also when you go to adobe website for download (http://get.adobe.com/reader) it will bydefault ask you to download Reader X. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THAT if you have OS 10.4.11. There is an option below to choose "Different language or Operating System?". Select that. In that use dropdown menu to choose version, select 9.4. This will work for you. The direct link to this page is - http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions
Use this link if ftp does not work for you.
    Thanks,
    Karan

  • Adobe reader for mac & fusion

I'm trying to install adobe reader X 10.1.3 on my mac running os X 10.7.4. Half way through the install this error pops up and stops the install: "Found a higher version adobe reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate."
My guess is that the version of adobe reader I installed while using vmware fusion 4.1.3 on this mac is interfering.
In my application folder sits two adobe reader items:
    1) "Adobe Reader.app" installed in c:\program files (x86)/adobe/reader 10.0/reader/acrord32.exe
    2) "Adobe Reader - Windows 7 x64.app" installed in "c:\program files (x86)/adobe/reader 10.0/reader/acrord32.exe"
Is there a way to get the adobe reader on the "windows side" not to interfere with installing one on the "mac side"?
By way of background, the reason I want to install adobe reader on the mac side is that I want to read PDFs secured by FileOpen on the mac side.
    Thanks.

Try downloading the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
