"Most visited" pages list

Hello all,
we have a requirement to show a "shortcuts" portlet in the main page of our Portal so that the most visited pages show as links. That way a user needs only click on a link in that portlet to navigate to his/her most visited pages, thus avoiding click click clicking a lot.
Is there any way to do this? Does Clickstream help in this area? I need some pointers as to what needs to be installed or developed to provide this functionality.
Thank you in advance!

hello,
a Portal Partner called Omniture (www.omniture.com) is providing the functionality of analyzing statistics of the usage of a portal. this technology is also used to analyze the my.oracle.com portal. you can get information like the most visited pages, etc.
a white paper about the usage is available:
http://portalcenter.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/ARCHITECTURE/IMPLEMENTING%20MY%20ORACLE.PDF
hope this helps you to implement the required functionality.
regards,
christian

  • From profile backup: Restoring bookmarks, most visited pages and reading list

Using the firefox mobile extension "Copy Profile" I have saved a copy of my profile to the sd card. Now I would like to restore selectively:
    - bookmarks
    - history
    - reading mode saved pages
    - most visited pages
While restoring the relevant files (using root access on android) helped, I am suffering from these probems:
    - The order of the bookmarks is mixed up: I had ordered them with the desktop app. Where is this order stored?
    - The "most visited pages" appears to be a random selection from the history.
    Any ideas?

Solution was to copy the files mentioned here:
[[Recovering important data from an old profile]]
    And here:
[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/950536 Extracting bookmarks from Android mozilla profile backup]
    Important:
The file ownership of all files copied back into the profile directory have to be adjusted. On my machine they defaulted to "root" owner which prevented firefox from accessing them.

  • Creating a "Most Popular Pages" List

    The setup's like this:
    * Each page that is tracked has a SQL statement that increments the number in an "occurances" column in a table specifically made for this purpose.
    * The db_occurances table has three columns - page number, page name, and occurances.
    * The main page of the application has a PL/SQL anon block region that is supposed to display the two most visited pages in list form.
    * The main page contains four hidden items that each have a SQL query; they have a value equal to something like this:
    select pagename from (select rownum r,pagename from db_occurances order by occurances desc) where r = 1;
    * The main anon block takes the values of these four items and uses them to build the list of popular pages.
The part that doesn't work is the SQL query in the four items. Instead of ordering the rows by occurances in descending order as they're meant to, they're ordering the rows as they appear in an unordered query.
Doing a SQL query "SELECT pagename FROM db_occurances ORDER BY occurances DESC" in the SQL Workshop returns the correct order.
Anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

    Hi Ben,
This should work for you -
      1  select * from
      2  (select
      3    application_id,
      4    page_id,
      5    page_name,
      6    count(*) as times_viewed
      7  from
      8    apex_workspace_activity_log
      9  where page_id in (1, 9, 56)
    10  group by
    11    application_id, page_id, page_name
    12  order by times_viewed desc)
    13* where rownum <= 3
    jes@TESTDB> /
    APPLICATION_ID    PAGE_ID PAGE_NAME            TIMES_VIEWED
               463          1 Home                           42
               348          9 Home                           31
4000         56 Application Builder            19Obviously you could adapt this query to pass in the page id's (or do a subquery to retrieve them from another table etc).
    Hope this helps,
    John.

  • I have my home page set up fine, but when i open a new tab it loads "delta serach" instead of the old layout of my most visited pages.

something has reset my new tab page to delta search, i want the original layout back with the page thumbnails of most visited pages that i had before. please help. very annoyed at delta for taking liberties in my browser settings.

    Type <b> about:config</b> in URL
*Search <b>browser.startup.homepage</b> and change the value to <b>google.com</b>
*Search <b>browser.newtab.url</b> and change the value to <b>about:newtab</b>
*Uninstall the delta search from Extension/Toolbar
In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select ''Add-ons'', or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the ''Tools'' menu and click ''Add-ons''.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the ''Remove'' button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.

  • How could I set 'Most visited' page as my homepage?

How could I set 'Most visited' to my homepage? When I press 'New Tab' I got the 'Most visited' page. I want this when I start firefox.

  • Why does your "Most Visited" button list mostly one-time-only web pages instead of ones I visit several times per day?

Most Visited drop-down lists mostly one-time visit web pages, and includes unrecognizable pages. Does not show pages I visit several times during the day.

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

  • I don't want "most visited" pages to show up when I open a new tab

Is there a setting that allows me to disable having all my most recent pages visited showing up when I open a new tab?

This is what I did, hope this helps you:
    # type about:config into the address bar
    # Agree to not break anything at the prompt!
    # Type "tab" in the search field at the top of the list
    # Find the line that reads: browser.newtab.url
    # Change the value to "about:blank"
    # Close the config!

  • I want to maake my new tab my most visited page

I want to make my new tab bring up a most visited website page whereas now it is just blank
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == i downloaded it

Click on any column header to sort on that column. Click that same header a second time to reverse the sort order.
From the menu bar select View-Layout and select one of the three provided layout arrangements.
No menu bar showing. Press the alt key to make it appear.

  • How do I empty, -not- remove, the "Most VIsited Bookmarks" list

I want to clear this list completely and allow it to repopulate based on my browsing going forward.
But no matter how many entries I delete using the History menu, it keeps refilling with old sites.
    How do I empty it??

    Notary_Sojac:
By all means update to the latest Firefox version as ''iamjayakumars'' suggested. Note that Firefox 20 is scheduled for release on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

  • My Most Visited List is empty and remains so, no matter how often I visit the same websites

This has only happened since I updated to Firefox 4.0. I go to the same sites repeatedly, and so far none of them show up in the Most Visited dropdown list.

if you have the bottom one checkmarked i.e. "Clear history when Firefox closes" then that's why there's no history to display.

  • How to i replace the firefox toolbar....and remove the toolbar that starts with MOST VISITED and SUGGESTED SITES

Somehow lost the toolbar that has the page return arrows and refresh and stop icons. How can I replace those and remove a toolbar that starts with MOST VISITED and lists several SUGGESTED SITES.

hello kittyheckel, please see [[Navigation buttons like back, home, bookmarks and reload are missing]]. you'll want to disable the bookmarks toolbar & enable the navigation toolbar.

  • Chromium's 'history' and 'most visited' feature lost?

It seems that Chromium's 'history' and 'most visited' feature is lost? Now I cannot find anything under 'history' and 'most visited'. What is wrong?

Inxsible wrote:what version are you using. always helps to list that so someone can actually help you.
Sorry, I suppose all others are running the latest version 6.0.472.62 (0) from our repos.
I do not remember the most visited part since I dont use it much, but the History feature works in .62
Mine doesn't work. The history page lists nothing at all. So does the 'most visited' page (that is what you usually see when open a blank new tab), except two: "Welcome to Chromium" and "Google Chrome Themes Gallery", that is, it does not record my 'most visited' pages at all.
    Moving to Newbie Corner....
    I don't see why,

  • How do I get the location bar drop-down list to show the most recently visited page at the top? I have no idea how it's deciding what to display.

In IE when you show the drop-down list from the location bar, it show you all of your most recently visited pages in descending order with the most recent at the top. Firefox is showing me a list that I have no idea where it's getting the pages from or how it's ordering them. It doesn't update the pages or the order when I go to a new page. I have recently switched from IE to Firefox and cannot figure out how to get Firefox to do this; very annoying.

That drop down list doesn't show recently visited pages, but shows list list of most visited sites sorted by what the Mozilla devs call frecency (frequency and recency) and is based on bonus points. It is not possible to have much influence on what shows on that list.
If you want a list of recently visited sites then you can use a smart bookmark e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar with the location set to this smart folder.<br />
    Name: <b>Recently Visited</b><br />
    Location: <b>place:queryType=0&sort=4&maxResults=30</b><br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make that folder work as intended.

  • I would select a link from the drop down on the address bar but the page would not open. I would select it again but the page does not open. I could only reach website by selecting google on most visited list.

After updating AVG anti-virus, I encountered a problem on Firefox. I would select a link from the drop down on the address bar but the page would not open after clicking on it. I would select it again, even double click, but the page does not open. I could only reach website by selecting google or yahoo from my dropdown on the most visited list and then click the website that I want to visit. I would like to do this in one step by just selecting a link from my history on the address bar and select a link instead of going to google and then writing the page I want to visit. What could be the problem? When going to the address bar to select a link to open, why does the site not open? Any help would be appreciated.

  • I use Firefox 'Most Visited' for easy access to the websites I use every day. I inadvertently clicked 'Forget About This Site' on a page that I need. That page is gone, apparently permanently, from my 'Most Visted' list. How can I get it back?

I use Firefox 'Most Visited' to access websites I use many times every day. I inadvertently clicked 'Forget About This Site' on a page listing that I need. That page is gone, apparently permanently, from my 'Most Visited' list. No matter how many times I re-visit the page, it will not show up on 'Most Visited'. How can I get it back? Thanks!

Most Visited is an automatically generated list that shows sites that you've visited.<br />
If you delete the history of a site then you have with a visit count of zero.<br />
To make that site reappear in that you you will have to visit that site often enough to make the visit count match the other sites in that list or clear the history from other sites in that list.
You can make the Visit Count column visible in the History Manager to see how many times you've visit sites.
