Motion detection for conveyor

Hi
My task is to make the video of the running conveyor. as soon as a component such as diode or transistor comes in front of the camera, the image should be captured for further processing.
Earlier i had inserted a delay of 5 seconds but accuracy couldnt be achieved because of manual placement of component on the conveyor.
I've seen the older posts regarding motion detection but they are giving error. imaqdx gives an error saying camera isn't detected.
need help.

Hi Incisive,
What error are you receiving in LabVIEW from IMAQdx? Also, how are you trying to detect the components? Instead of movement, you could use pattern or color matching to take a picture. Try searching on our website and filtering by examples for some pre-written code that might help you out. Hope this helps!

  • My WVC210 camera has lost its motion detection sensitivity

Motion detection with email alert has worked well for several month, but after I have installed a second camera it stopped functioning.
I can trigger an alarm by moving the cameras, but activity in front of the camera at some distance, will not trigger motion alert.
The position of the threshold "gliders" for sensitivity don't seem to have any effect of the sensitivity, using area 2 and 3.
    Same problem with both cameras.
Is other control settings influencing on the motion detection sensitivity?
I have watched the red motion detection bar flashing, without any motion alert registered in the camera system log.
    My video setting:
    MPEG-4
    Resolution: 640×480
    Image Quality: Very High
    Frame Rate: 30
    MJPEG
    Resolution: 640×480
    Image Quality: Very High
    Frame Rate: 30
Have somebody a solution for this problem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

motion detection for wvc210 is not really advisable for outdoor use. the motion detection feature doesn't actually detect motion. it only compares frames to see if they are different.  major difference between frames are assumed to be caused by moving object.  make sure that the location where the device is located has proper illumination. try to re-adjust again the motion detection sensitivity.

  • Calculating motion rate and conveyor move in mm for every pulse of encoder

    Dear friends,
I need to understand the calculation of motion rate for given line scan rate.
i have line-scan camera connected to servo motor.
i know that the line-scan camera can run at 7.2 khz line rate (7200 lines in 1 second).
Each pixel need to be 0.1mm (in the direction of motion). 10 lines of scanning is 1mm.
i need to scan image of object that its length is 400mm (0.1mm*4000lines)
First, the Conveyor stop, the object that i need to test with the linescan camera is now 5cm from the camera.
i want that the servo motor will move the conveyor for 45cm and stop.
(the conveyor accellerate, move const speed, decellerate, stop. the line scan camera connected to 10khz encoder for each revolution)
Now i'm getting lost with the calculation.....
if 1pixel = 0.1mm , then i need the conveyor belt be able to move 0.1mm for each pulse of the encoder???
i want that the servo motor will rotate chain (like the attached image),
but i dont know how i need to calculate the gear diameter, the chain pitch, etc...
and specially, how this parameters influence the line scan rate, and what is the role of the encoder here...
    Thanks for any support.

  • * JMF PlugIn Effect/Codec Filter for Motion Detection : Source Example *

I have noticed some posts on here recently about reading a webcams pixel stream and as at least one example the processing of that data for robotics, or another for motion detection or tracking.
This can mean a requirement for fast frame processing, setting the datasource framerate, and to implement as easily as possible; eg a simple JMF effect or codec plugin to set on the processor.
I have a link as follows to some source and examples for such plugin effects, and some of you may find this interesting if not also useful.
See an updated http://www.exactfutures.com/index02.htm for the new download. Enjoy.

    thanx Andy

  • WVC210 no Video to set area for Motion Detection

If I press the "Set Area & Sensitivity" button in the Motion Detection setup area I get the adjustment for the 4 detection windows on the left and on the right site only a black area where the video should be. But on top of this I can see a motion detection window if activated, but this is black too, only the top bar with e.g. "Window 2" in it is not black and I can move it by drag&drop.
    I'm using:
    Win 7 Ultimate 64
    IE 8
    Anybody any idea?

    Hi Mark,
Thank you for posting. When you set up the SMTP settings the camera emails video or pictures? Have you tried setting up remote access to the camera to see if you can view the video from a remote location?
If you are unable to resolve this, please reply or call Small Business Support for further assistance. You can find a number here: www.cisco.com/go/sbsc

  • Motion detection software for isight?

Is anyone aware of any motion detection software for isight? I know that creative has some for their "orb" though it's not compatible with Mac OS X. Is iSight even capable of the task? Thanks for any input!

I do have the Boinx software but I am guessing that your are looking for a sensor sim and not a recording software...Am I right? If so, I am still looking for the same thing. I want the camera to trigger actions in a software and perhaps snap pictures for an application.
I know this is all possible because its all been done. Can anyone suggest where should I start in order to learn how to program these things?
    Thanks.

  • Email notification for motion detection on webcanm center

no matter what i do, or what e-mail address i use, i run into an "starttls" errorI have used my emailgoogle emailyahoo email any one have a solution please?has anyone ever gotten the email function on motion detection to work ?(btw using VISTA (aka crap) sigh?

    Try this -
    MPEG-4
    Resoultion : 320 x 240
    Video quality
    Fixed quality  Normal
    max frame rate 30 fps
    MPJEG seting
    Resolution: 320 x 240
    Fixed quality Normal
    Max frame rate 30 fps
    2.  Motion detection settings are fine...
Also you can try Mobile Streaming -
RTSP by default uses port 554, so you should forward port 554 into the static LAN IP of the camera...Once you do this, you can type in a URL from our cell phone browser like rtsp://MyName.MyLinksysCamera.com:554/xxxxx (where xxxxx is the access code...
Having the access code as part of the URL allows you to use a custom home page on your phone to instantly select the stream to view and no username or password prompt is required...Keep in mind that some mobile devices and cell phones support RTSP, but at this time many do not...Some phones like the iPhone do not support RTSP at this time. Check with your wireless carrier for more details if their network or wireless hardware supports the RTSP protocol...

  • Enabling Motion Detection on 2621V: "Video for other platform/os" error

    Team,
trying to get motion detection on my CIVS 2621V enabled. Running Firmware Version: V4.4.2-2
I always get the Video for Other Platforms error not matter which browser that I am using or different systems.
Searched around and found some posts from some COTS video surveillance systems from Cisco running into the same issue but nothing here.

It's likely you'll need a much older version of IE in order to set this up natively.  I believe the original user guide for the 2621 actually called for IE 6 on Windows XP.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/physical_security/video_surveillance/ip_camera/2621/user_guide/2621ug.pdf
... although I seem to recall doing this with something as recent as IE 8 without issue.
I actually have to keep a VM and an old XP workstation with VNC on it to work with some of the much older hardware :-S

  • Live! Cam Voice Shuts Down When Using Motion Detection Feature

I'm running XP Media Center 2002.
I just installed Live! Cam Voice. Started using it and is was fine out of the box. I updated the drivers and i also decided to update the drivers for my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS.
The problem only seemed to occur when using the Motion Detection. Shortly after using it, I'd get a Microsoft error prompting the WebCam Center to shut down.
First I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it using the original drivers on the supplied disk. I still had the problem. So i rolled back the drivers on my sound card. That seems to have fixed the problem... Thought you'd want to know.
To be clear the Cam driver I'm using is .0.8.206. I believe this is the one that came w/ the install disk. Hope this helps anyone else who's experienced similar problems.....

I have the same problem. I only get 6-7 fps max. I've never seen anything above 0 fps which is a disgrace. My computer is and Athlon64 X2 4800 with 2GB RAM so it's nothing to do with spec. This behaviour was the same in driver version .0.8 as well as the latest one... .0.02 or something.
Also, since the last driver update, the whitebalance and focus when on automatic is dreadful. I'm not impressed.

  • PVC2300 - Alternative to Motion Detection Event / FTP Upload

    Hi Cisco Community,
My apologies if I am not posting this in the correct section / allowed to post here.
I've got a PVC2300 mounted inside a pelco enclosure that is positioned 6 meters high. Sometimes the motion detection event doesn't work to well (this is due to the fact that its in an enclosure and pointed out towards the ocean at a beach location).
Also the motion detection event is pretty much useless at night without surrounding illumination.
In Australia we also have severe lack of broadband speed and also download allowance, therefore it is not practical to broadcast streaming video (we would get charged excessive fees for exceeding download quotas and only one person could view the camera at any one time).
I've written a custom windows service that reads the PVC2300's MJPEG stream over http at a specified interval and saves a single .JPG file in which the windows service uploads the .JPG file to a specified website. This means that you will always get an updated image from the camera every 5 minutes, rather than based on motion detection. It would have been nice if cisco / linksys implemented this within the camera's firmware (maybe in a future version?).
Anyway, communities share things with each other, so i've made the software freely available to anyone who wishes to use it. I would appreciate any feedback from Cisco / Linksys.

You came to the right place and thats a very cool post IMO.
First, thanks for using Cisco Small Business products and you can look forward enhancements and options in our line, of course.  I think I noticed your other post mentioning you are in Australia?  We have a few really top BU folks (TMEs and Biz Dev) down under and they are very active in the BU solutions area for Small Business.   Do you know Leah Davis and Dave Harper (they are Participants on this community as well)?
In any event, I think compressed streaming is a very valid design idea and we are actually looking at similar partners in the US experimenting with the same.  In one Partners case he has a lightweight application (java) that runs on your mobile and allows all the mobile streams to come compressed from a server farm.
Typical use case is a Day Care where 15 parents want to watch the same camera, and the compression benefit becomes crucial in scale.   But your case is a financial one (therefore good too) where you would have to pay for streaming video.
While we dont offer this today (the external managed service that is), I am sure you have played with the camera GUI and realize you can try some of the following to reduce bandwidth
1- lower quality of video (resolution, FPS, illuminate Audio, etc)
2- reduce motion detection size (seconds)
3- Purchase a local NSS2100 or NSS3x00 to store High Quality video on the LAN and only alert for motion via email (not realy friendly for remote monitoring I admit).
For sensitivity in an enclosure, have you played with Sensitivity settings thresholds in the Camera GUI under motion detection?
For night illumination without an external IR Illuminator, have you tried the 'night schedule', which activates (or deactivates) the IR Cut Filter?
For the periodic updates, I'll let Davin Oishi comment as he is about ready to announce the PVC300 and I know it offers a browser based periodic refresh and I am not sure how far he has extended that to an API for external access.....
    Thanks for your post

  • Help with motion detection preset on a WVC210

Hi, I am really out of ideas. Is it possible to set the home position as my motion detection area? I can't seem to be able to make my camesa stay at its home position. I set my camera to go back to my home position after 1 minute of idling, the the camera keep going somewhere else. I noticed that the area it goes to is the same area that my camera goes to when I clicked on the motion icon (the one with the man running. Can I overwrite that position? I tried deleting all my presets, recalibrated the camera and even resetting my camera a few times already. I really need help cause the area that the camera choose as my motion area is not what I need. Thank you in avanced to all that take the time to answer me.

Hi, yes I can manually tilt up or down. I have the camera facing down on the stairs to the entrance of my house and saved as a home position. I went in to the motion detection section and made sure the position is the same as my home position (I hit apply just to be sure). I set my camera to go back to my motion detection area when idle for 5 minutes (I tried different values already). Within 5 minutes the camera would tilt back to the center (facing the street), but it seems that the panning position was saved. I can move the camera around. When I hit the home position the camsera would go back to where I want, but when I hit the motion button the camera would be in the same panning position, but with a different tilt position center). The reason I know its the center is because I tried resetting my default home position and it would go back to the center pan/tilt position. It seems the camera would not accept any tilt position other then the center... I can give you access to my camera if you would like. I greatly appreciate your time and effort in helping me.

It sounds like you are mixing two methods of using a line scan camera.
The first method is to run the camera at a fixed speed.  If the speed of your belt is constant, this can work okay.  To calculate the desired speed, let B=belt speed (mm/sec), L=line rate (lines/sec), R=mm/line (0.1mm/line in your case)
B = L / R    This equation can be rearranged to calculate any of the quantities.
The second method is to use an encoder to trigger each line captured by the camera.  In this case, the speed of the belt is not important as long as you don't go too fast for the camera.  In this case, you need to know how many mm the belt will travel for each pulse.  To calculate this, you would probably measure how far the belt travels during one revolution of the encoder.  You should also know the number of encoder pulses per revolution.  Dividing distance by pulses gives you distance per pulse.  Since you want 0.1 mm/pulse, you would need to adjust either the number of pulses in the encoder or the diameter of the belt roller.  If E=encoder pulses and D=belt distance, R = D / E.

  • Motion Detection on Linksys WVC54GCA

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I would appreciate if someone could help me with this.
I am trying to configure this camera to record onto my network drive via FTP on a schedule - for example  9 - 5 each day.
Can recording be done based on these entered times or does motion have to be detected?
I have copied a screenshot of my settings at below url:
    http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/15/settingsr.jpg
I have tried with passive mode enabled and disable and tried recording with a shorter internal between start and end times.
FTP credentials are correct, along with IP. I can access both locally and via the internet.
    Thanks for your help.

The motion detection should be enable and the motion will be detected with-in the specified period of time.

  • WVC54GCA - over sensitive motion detection, has anyone solved it yet?

My cams spam my mail account whenever I have motion detection enabled, the images it sends aren't anything to do with motion.  This seems to be a common issue with these.
Has anyone got it working correctly?

Try upgrading/reflashing the firmware of your Camera. Follow this link .
After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the Camera to factory defaults, then setup the Camera again from scratch.
To reset the Camera press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Camera, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your Camera...
