Mouse click on graph without event handling

Is there a way to detect mouse click on a graph without the event handling? My base version of LabVIEW does not have event handling features.
Thanks,
Ryan

Leaving out the Event Structure seems like cruel and unusual punishment.  My scorn is divided about 80/20 between NI for selling it and whoever tried to save a few bucks by buying it and then sticking it to you to workaround.  Perhaps you are a student in which case you are free labor and it is all good.
Maybe your boss is a purist and dislikes Event Structures because they break the dataflow paradigm.  The alternative is of course polling, and in this case you have plenty of data flowing!  Unfortunately 99.9% of it is worthless.  Here is a little example in LV8.2 (don't know your version) that uses polling to check on the mouse button.  I only added a simple check for the button being pressed, if you want to know click (down/up) you can add a shift register and look for transitions in the button.  I do check that the front panel is up front, otherwise it will still register clicks even though you may be surfing the web.
Hopefully everything is in the base package.

  • Mouse clicks on windows without focus

    Is there a way to recognize when a user is clicking on a defocused JFrame, to bring it to the front, as opposed to clicking to set a text cursor position within the JFrame? For example, if I click on a terminal emulator I've developed, the text cursor within the emulation window goes to the click, even if the emulator is only being clicked to give it focus. (I've also noticed a similar phenomenon with JBuilder, by the way.)
    By comparison, look at any native Windoze or Macintosh application; very few (if any) behave that way.

    This must be very hard for LabView to do.  I just need to use LabView to run another application. Then have labview emulate a mouse click on that application. I have found out the windows message using Spy++ for the mouse click.  Now in LabView I need to move the mouse to a certain position on that application.  How could LabView know where to move the mouse cursor.  I found some move cursor vi on this forum, then the coordinate of the position on the application (the active window) is not known.  Do I need to map out the position in advance using Spy++?  That seems not reasonable as later on the position may change.
    LabView is indeed good for Hardware automation and data acquisition, but when it comes to performing some software automation tasks (i.e., runing a couple of other applications automatically), it doesn't seem to be powerful at all, unless the other applications are ActiveX capable, or you have their code to build Dlls.  Most of time, one only need to automate the process of running a couple of other programs, then have data presented.

  • How to call a view without event handler onaction method.

    Hi Experts,
    I have develop a WD application. It has three views let view1, view2 and view3.
    In view1 one button is there (onaction) which navigates to view2 through outbound plug  wd_This->Fire_Out_Screen1_Plg(   ). where Out_Screen1 is outbound plug of view1.
    Now view2 appears , I want that after 10 seconds view2 automatically call view3, without action on view2.
    I have written like  wd_This->Fire_OUT_SCREEN2_Plg(  ). where OUT_SCREEN2 is outbound plug of view2, which navigates to inbound plug of view3.
    But its not working. Please suggest how to and where to write code to call a view without action .
    for ur ref.

    Hi Bhagat,
    Yes, you can attach media objects into a view
    Using IFRAME ui element and html mime object.

  • Event handler - open with explorer issue

    hi all,
    I have developed an event handler (itemadded syncronuos) for a library. i need to populate title field
    public override void ItemAdded(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    base.ItemAdded(properties);
    properties.ListItem["Title"] = "some value"
    properties.ListItem.SystemUpdate();
    I have deployed the same feature to 2 environments -> Dev Env, Test Env.
    when I copy and paste a pdf file with "Open with explorer" in Dev Env it works fine.
    when I do the same in Test Env i can't copy the file and i get this error:
    Error 0x80070057: the parameter is incorrect.
    I see this in my Event Viewer
    The description for Event ID 14901 from source WebClient cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
    If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
    Could you help me?
    Thanks.

    On your local machine you are as you on the server, are you try it on the test server or browsing the test environment from local machine and doing the copy from local machine.  also i hope your event handler is not firing on all the list, just make
    sure. You can try this in a different library..create a fresh library and see what happen without event handler.

  • Question about mouse clicks

    hi I hope this makes sense.
    I am using swing in my honours project and part of it uses mouse clicks to trigger different events depending on the coordinates that are clicked. However I need to distinguish whether the left or the right button has been clicked as these will call different actions. I got it all working except for the soring out bit. At the moment both buttons do the same thing.
    What I'm really asking is what do I need to add to the mouse Clicked action listener so that it recognises which button is clicked?
    hope that made sense
    thanks

    Depends on what version of Java you are using.
    This may help.

  • WAD 7.0: Mouse click events on graphs?

    I'm using BEx Web Application Designer 7.0 and was wondering what type of options are available in terms of event handling for the graphs themselves (line graphs in my case) within a Web Template?
    What I'm getting at is, I notice when I click on a point on one of my line graphs after execution it takes me to the top of the page.  Does this mean these graphs are interactive with mouse events?  Would I be able to setup a function that when a point on a line on the graph is clicked, instead of it jumping me to the top of the page I could set my drilldown item to automatically set a filter for the "0CUSTOMER" characteristic that line represents, so my graph then only displays that line and not the other 4?  My first assumption is this might be possible using javascript?
    If more information or explanation is needed please let me know.  Or if you have links to references explaining this that'd be great as well. Thanks for the help!

    Filtering by right-clicking on a series on the line graph and picking either "Keep Filter Value" or "Keep Filter Value on Axis" seems to produce unwanted results.  Often the graph will dissappear and a placeholder where the graph should be will display "No data available".  Or, it will display just the single series I selected but erases the legend, so there is no way to tell which Customer Region was chosen to be displayed if anyone but the interacting user were to look at it.  The only way to get proper results is to right click on a series and choose "Select Filter Value" and go through a Variable Selection screen, which is actually the step I am trying to shortcut.
    I'm thinking the other options, "Keep Filter Value" and "Keep Filter Value on Axis" aren't working quite right due to the hierarchies that are being used so I may just need to play around with it for a while.  But like I said above, my main goal of all this is to be able to skip the process of having to go through the Variable Selection screen, and simply left or right-click on a series or line and be able to select and display just that line, which is where I think I may need to turn to JavaScript?
    But as always, I appreciate the help!

  • What is the recommended way to handle mouse click events for custom nodes that subclass Panes?

    Hi,
    I have created a custom node that is a StackPane containing a Label on top of a Polygon.
    import javafx.scene.control.Label;
    import javafx.scene.layout.StackPane;
    import javafx.scene.paint.Color;
    import javafx.scene.shape.Polygon;
    public class CustomHexagon extends StackPane {
        private Polygon hexagon;
        private Label overlayText;
        public CustomHexagon( String text, double... points ) {
            this.hexagon = new Polygon( points );
            this.overlayText = new Label( text );
            overlayText.setStyle( "-fx-font-weight: bold;" );
            hexagon.setStroke( Color.GREEN );
            hexagon.setStrokeWidth( 5.0 );
            hexagon.setFill( Color.WHITE );
            this.getChildren().addAll( hexagon, overlayText );
    // Lays out the node where it should be according to the points provided for the Polygon.
            this.setLayoutX( points[0] - getLayoutBounds().getMinX() );
            this.setLayoutY( points[1] - getLayoutBounds().getMinY() );
    // Show the border of the StackPane.
            this.setStyle( "-fx-border-color: black; -fx-border-width: 1; -fx-border-style: dashed;");
        public String getOverlayText() {
            return overlayText.getText();
    I want to display a tesselation of these custom hexagons. Because a CustomHexagon is a StackPane, not a Polygon, MouseClick events can be picked up when the mouse is clicked outside of the stroke of the hexagon but still within the StackPane (which takes up a rectangle larger than the hexagon). The following program demonstrates this.
    public class Main extends Application {
        @Override
        public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
            Group root = new Group();

    After running this program, when one clicks within the intersection of two StackPanes (borders shown by dashed lines), the target of the mouse click event will be the StackPane on top as determined by the order in which they were added to their parent.
    This is a problem because there is only a small "T" shaped area within each hexagon that when clicked will target that hexagon with an event, rather than adjacent nodes.
    I would appreciate any reccomendations to solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    James Giller

    Hello, this is an evergreen. Just call setPickOnBounds(false) on the CustomHexagon.

  • Adobe plugin For Mouse Click Event Handler

    Hi All, How to write plugin For Mouse Click Event Handler? Please reply quickly..
    Thanks in Advance

    AS has already been replied to you on the other threads.
    THE ACROBAT SDK has all the information you need to implement your solution. If you investigate the SDK and find a specific part of implementing your solution that is causing a problem. Then post that specific problem on the forum so that Leonard/PDL/ Aandi/Everyone else, can help you with specific problems.
    This question is too open ended for it to be easily answered with out doing a lot of work.
    Please download the SDK.
    Investigate the Documentation/Samples.

  • How to handle mouse click event on up-arrow of JSpinner?

    Hi Everybody,
    I have a JSpinner component holding a date field in it (dd/mm/yyyy). I have handeled keyboard up and down arrow key events for the component and that's working as expected. Now I want to make it work for mouse clicks on the up (UP_ARROW_SUBCOMPONENT) and down arrow (DOWN_ARROW_SUBCOMPONENT) buttons of the component.
    Could somebody guide me how to do it? My investigatoin hints me to use JSpinnerMouseEventData but I am not exactly getting how to get it done.
    Thanks in advance!

    if you just want to add a mouseListener to the spinner's buttons, try this
    (only coded it for the up/next button)
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    class Testing
      public void buildGUI()
        JSpinner spinner = new JSpinner(new SpinnerNumberModel(50, 0, 100, 5));
        spinner.setUI(new javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicSpinnerUI(){
          protected Component createNextButton()
            Component c = super.createNextButton();
            c.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter(){
              public void mousePressed(MouseEvent me){
                System.out.println("mousie, going up");
            return c;
        JFrame f = new JFrame();
        f.getContentPane().add(spinner);
        f.pack();
        f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
        f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        f.setVisible(true);
      public static void main(String[] args)
        SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
          public void run(){
            new Testing().buildGUI();
    }

  • How do I Get the value from a mouse click - on a waveform graph?

    If I have made a plot into a Waveform Graph and later want to do a zoom of my data
    (Not zoom into the Waveform Graph, but regenerate the data). How do I read the mouse
    coordinate if I click on the graph window. I know how to put up the horiz and vert
    cursors but don't know how to just read the mouse click. I would really like to
    follow the windows standard that identifys a rectangle by clicking and draging and then
    be able to read the corners of the rectangle. Thanks, Rick
    PS: Using Labview 6i

    I would recommend to 'translate' your graph in a picture and dislay it in a picture control (see picture examples in LV6).
    Once you did it, pictures have an extremely useful property called Mouse that returns the mouse coordinates and click events when you place the cursor on the picture.
    By this you can re-arrange the graph on picture appearance.
    There are also other methods such as using a Window's API that returns the mouse position referred to the whole screen window, but I believe this would be much more difficult to implement.
    Let me know if this was clear and if you need an example vi.
    Good luck,
    Alberto

  • Event Handlers of a mouse click

    In the simplest way possible please tell me how to do an event handler for a mouse click.
    private int clickCounter = 0;
    private void MyCanvas_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e)
    if (Device1RB.IsChecked == true)
    clickCounter++;
    return;
    else if (RemoveRB.IsChecked == true)
    clickCounter--;
    return;
    else
    return;
    private void Switch_class()
    switch (clickCounter)
    case 1:
    //code here
    break;
    case 2:
    //code here
    break;
    case 3:
    //code here
    break;
    case 4:
    //code here
    break;
    case 5:
    //code here
    break;
    default:
    //code here??
    break;
    This is what I have and I apparently need an event handler for the mouse click. Also if there is an easier way to do what I want then please point me in the right direction.

    I still can't figure out why its not working.
    private int clickCounter = 0;
    private void MyCanvas_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e)
    if (Device1RB.IsChecked == true)
    clickCounter++;
    return;
    else if (RemoveRB.IsChecked == true)
    clickCounter--;
    return;
    else
    return;
    private void Switch_class()
    switch (clickCounter)
    case 1:
    pic_1.Visibility = System.Windows.Visibility.Visible;
    break;
    case 2:
    pic_2.Visibility = System.Windows.Visibility.Visible;
    break;
    case 3:
    pic_3.Visibility = System.Windows.Visibility.Visible;
    break;
    case 4:
    pic_4.Visibility = System.Windows.Visibility.Visible;
    break;
    case 5:
    pic_5.Visibility = System.Windows.Visibility.Visible;
    break;
    default:
    //code here??
    break;
    That's what I've got.

  • Looking up the values in a waveform graph with a mouse click

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to look up the values in a waveform graph with a mouse
    click but... without the cursor legend on, if i press in the waveform graph
    nothing happens, i must search my cursors and only then i can see the values
    of my signal data?! Isn't there any other way?
    Best regards,
    Thijs Boerée

    Dear Chad,
    I know of the function "bring cursor to center". I also figured out that
    when i use a property node of the cursor array of clusters, that i can see
    that some values change when i move the cursor (i can see the X and Y scale
    value change of the graph and also the values of the mouse pointer (in
    points due to screen resolution)) But in this cluster i can't set the mouse
    position. I allready made a VI where i can see the bounds of my
    waveformgraph and I have the Xscale (min and max) and the Yscale (min and
    max), with a linear fit i can translate my mouse position to X an Y scale
    values and when i click on my waveform graph the cursor go's to that
    position (property node of the cursor position), only disadvantage is that i
    only have the bounds of my plot area and not the position, i do have the
    position of my waveform graph but the plot area isn't allways in the center,
    if i could extract the position of the plot area i may find a solution to
    solve this problem.
    And to file a product question:
    I would like to see the function that with a mouse click a little menu
    appears and that there are options to for example set a marker on that data
    and when you right click on it, that there are options to remove it or to
    add comment, a 2D array could make a list of the different channels with
    it's markers (time stamps and comments).
    Best regards,
    And thank you for your help.

  • Capture mouse click event

    Hi all,
    This seems to be a simple task at beginning. I have a mygameboard object which inherited from spirit class. I added eventlistener and handler in the constructor. For some reason, the click event handler only receives some of the clicks when the mouse points to certain area of the mygameboard object. I have noticed that areas receiving mouse events are child textfield objects of mygameboard.instance. Putting this.mouseEnabled = true; in the constructor has no effect. How can I enable the whole display area of mygameboard receiving mouse events?
    TIA

    got the answer, using stage.

  • How can I (neatly) control mouse click events in a multi-dimensional array?

    Hello everyone!
         I have a question regarding the use of mouse clicks events in a multi-dimensional array (or a "2D" array as we refer to them in Java and C++).
    Background
         I have an array of objects each with a corresponding mouse click event. Each object is stored at a location ranging from [0][0] to [5][8] (hence a 9 x 6 grid) and has the specific column and row number associated with it as well (i.e. tile [2][4] has a row number of 2 and a column number of 4, even though it is on the third row, fifth column). Upon each mouse click, the tile that is selected is stored in a temporary array. The array is cleared if a tile is clicked that does not share a column or row value equal to, minus or plus 1 with the currently targeted tile (i.e. clicking tile [1][1] will clear the array if there aren't any tiles stored that have the row/column number
    [0][0], [0][1], [0][2],
    [1][0], [1][1], [1][2],
    [2][0], [2][1], [2][2]
    or any contiguous column/row with another tile stored in the array, meaning that the newly clicked tile only needs to be sharing a border with one of the tiles in the temp array but not necessarily with the last tile stored).
    Question
         What is a clean, tidy way of programming this in AS3? Here are a couple portions of my code (although the mouse click event isn't finished/working correctly):
      public function tileClick(e:MouseEvent):void
       var tile:Object = e.currentTarget;
       tileSelect.push(uint(tile.currentFrameLabel));
       selectArr.push(tile);
       if (tile.select.visible == false)
        tile.select.visible = true;
       else
        tile.select.visible = false;
       for (var i:uint = 0; i < selectArr.length; i++)
        if ((tile.rowN == selectArr[i].rowN - 1) ||
         (tile.rowN == selectArr[i].rowN) ||
         (tile.rowN == selectArr[i].rowN + 1))
         if ((tile.colN == selectArr[i].colN - 1) ||
         (tile.colN == selectArr[i].colN) ||
         (tile.colN == selectArr[i].colN + 1))
          trace("jackpot!" + i);
        else
         for (var ii:uint = 0; ii < 1; ii++)
          for (var iii:uint = 0; iii < selectArr.length; iii++)
           selectArr[iii].select.visible = false;
          selectArr = [];
          trace("Err!");

    Andrei1,
         So are you saying that if I, rather than assigning a uint to the column and row number for each tile, just assigned a string to each one in the form "#_#" then I could actually just assign the "adjacent" array directly to it instead of using a generic object to hold those values? In this case, my click event would simply check the indexes, one at a time, of all tiles currently stored in my "selectArr" array against the column/row string in the currently selected tile. Am I correct so far? If I am then let's say that "selectArr" is currently holding five tile coordinates (the user has clicked on five adjacent tiles thus far) and a sixth one is being evaluated now:
    Current "selectArr" values:
           1_0
           1_1, 2_1, 3_1
                  2_2
    New tile clicked:
           1_0
           1_1, 2_1, 3_1
                  2_2
                  2_3
    Coordinate search:
           1_-1
    0_0, 1_0, 2_0, 3_0
    0_1, 1_1, 2_1, 3_1, 4_1
           1_2, 2_2, 3_2
                  2_3
         Essentially what is happening here is that the new tile is checking all four coordinates/indexes belonging to each of the five tiles stored in the "selectArr" array as it tries to find a match for one of its own (which it does for the tile at coordinate 2_2). Thus the new tile at coordinate 2_3 would be marked as valid and added to the "selectArr" array as we wait for the next tile to be clicked and validated. Is this correct?

  • Pass Mouse click events from JavaScript to Falsh Movie

    Hi,
    I have an interesting problem here.
    i am trying to create a web page which has my
    flash-presentation movie. i need to disable mouse click &
    keyboard click navigation of the flash movie. The only way by which
    i can navigate my slide in the flash movie should be using 2
    buttons say Next & Prev that are i my web page.
    when i click the Next button i should be able to go to the
    next slid or the animation in the same slide like how i do in the
    power Point.
    Is there any way by which i can send these mouse click
    events from my javascript to my flash movie or is there any other
    means by which i can achieve this.
    ~Blackperil

    Hi Mathias,
    What i understood is that you want to triger a server side event (simulate onClick event of button)from a client side event (javascript confirm popup), based on the choice of user..
    You can also try this one...
    Check = confirm("Do you really want to proceed?");
    if (Check == true)
    document.getElementById('do_proceed').click();
    else
    document.getElementById('do_cancel').click();

    Anubhav
