Move Java Frame into Windows taskbar notification area (system tray)?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has written a service-like application in Java running (and appearing) in the Windows "taskbar notification area", instead of running in the convential Windows taskbar.
I'm able to add an icon to the taskbar notification area (frequently errorneous called as the 'system tray') by using some native code that uses win32 Shell_NotifyIcon(.. , ..). However, I'm not able to 'couple' the window (i.e. the Java frame) to the new icon in the taskbar.
My icon is shown in the area AND the frame is shown as an application in the taskbar... I would like to 'remove' my Java application from the taskbar and place it 'as an icon' in the taskbar notification area.
Has anyone had experience with a similar problem?

If all you need is to make the frame not visible in the taskbar as well than why don't you activate the hide() method? cature the minimize event and activate the frame.hide(); method. And in the system tray make the frame visible by frame.show();

Yes, this should be simple, but I'm baffled. Can the icon be permanently removed, or at least when when the Album Starter is not in use... other than clicking on "exit" which only brings it back when the computer is restarted without removing the program?

KILLING ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER AND TRAY ICON.
Easy ! I use Comodo Pro Firewall.
1) Click on DEFENSE box.
2) Click on "View Active Process List"
3) Look down the list of processes. Find APDPROXY.EXE.
4) Click it, then click "Terminate and Quarantine"
5) ALL DONE ! No more icon in tray and the program is killed.
APDPROXY - This is lurking about, you can find it on SEARCH from the START button. BUT, you cannot delete it or move it and MSCONFIG does not work. You can disable it as many times as you like - it will keep coming back.
SOLUTION ! Download CCleaner, it is a great little program and free.
Using this you can click on TOOLS, then STARTUP. A list of programs are shown which are enabled at STARTUP. Disabling does not work, just click on APDPROXY and click DELETE. It`s GONE !
All over in a flash - no more ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER.

Yellow Key Icon pops up in Taskbar Notification Area

Hello All,
When i logon to my machine on domain, but as soon as the desktop appears.
A Yellow Key Icon pops up in Taskbar Notification Area saying that "You are not using the most recent password, please logoff and login again with the recent password".
I am using the recent password, i know but it still shows this message.

I agree with the others. There might be some password policy changes done in your domain, we could take a try to change the curent password and see if issue insists, or as Balaji Kundalam suggested, contact your admin/and if you are one of the Domain admin,
then we may consider to reset password for the current account through Administrative tools.

Enbed java firewall into Windows NT

I am doing a project and going to create a firewall using Java. After that I have to run the firewall in Windows NT platform. Is there anyone who knows what I need to do to enbed the Java firewall into a NT platform? Thanks a lot.

Gnome 3: Move Insync Notification to System Tray

In Gnome, the Insync indicator appears in the notifaction bar. It not only looks very out of place in the notification bar, it is difficult to use there. Is there a way for me to move it to the system tray?

NB200 - Notifications in system tray area

Every few seconds I get an annoying pop-up notification in the system tray area that informs me of 'Blocked Events' These are all IPv4 TCP or UDP events. I'd really like to turn off these notifications but despite extensive internet searching I can't find out how to do this. I've tried the Action Centre and tried the obvious Firewall settings but nothing will stop them. I find them intensely annoying.
I have a NB200-12W running Windows 7 Home Prmium (a recent upgrade from Windows 7 Starter Edition). - the issue occurs under both versions. initially I used the installed McAfee security suite but uninstalled that and I'm using F-secure 2009 Internet Security suite for which I have a currently valid license.
The system is wirelessly connected to my BT Home hub router and is connected via the HomeGroup to two PCs. The other two computers are connected via ethernet cables to the router and both run on Windows 7 Home Premium with Avira internet security. I don't get the pop-ups on these machines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

What program is generating the alerts - are you sure its f-secure or could it be the widows firewall or mcafee? I don't know anything about f-secure (other than I couldn't find a 2009 manual on their web site) but I would suggest that it will keep a log of events and that when you get close to the "option" that displays (and I would expect clears) it you will also find an option about displaying the event.
Re my comment about what program is generating it - are you happy that you have removed all traces of mcafee? Have you run msconfig and looked at the services and startup tabs for any trace? Also look in task manager for any traces : in the services tab click on description to sort and look for mcafee starting the description similar in the processes but I think you would only ever have had 1 mcafee entry.
I think this should have been the first para. Have you created/amended any firewall rules? The log file should give the ip address of the source event and is that in the range of ip addresses of your home network? and since you are bt internet customer do you have a bt vision pvr and is that the source?

E-Mail Notification in System Tray

I use xmonad with xmobar and trayer as my desktop environment - mostly working with terminals and CLI apps.
For E-Mails I use mutt with offlineimap, run every 20min from a cronjob.
Now what is a good solution to get a notification icon into my system tray when there's new mail?
I read something about biff, others suggest using conky.
I don't really know how to do it. Please point me to the right way...
Something clean and simple.

What exactly do you want to know? I mean, you can look at the man page (also on bitbucket) or the source. Basically it decorates some of offlineimap's classes (injects some code) so that offlineimap will call a notification function (provided by offlineimap-notify) when an account finishes syncing. Then it runs offlineimap (it's just a wrapper).

[SOLVED]KDE does not remember window state, restoring from System Tray

Hi,
I'm facing a problem with some KDE applications that dock in the system tray, like Amarok and Konversation. I like to keep these apps maximized. But when I restore them from the system tray, they always revert back to their original, unmaximized size. Is there any workaround or fix for this?

Funny thing happened. I tried out your suggestion for my Firefox window, which would always start in an un-maximized state. It worked perfectly. Then I opened up Konversation and Amarok, and found that they properly remember the window state now!

How to create java files into windows applications i,e. exe files

I been trying to convert my java files to exe files, but i have been reading a lot of webpages speaking of writing a code in c++ source code,
any easier way to do it.

Add your java compiler to the windows path.
Hie thee to a run terminal! Enter
javac filename.java
then enter
java filename
And your program will work.I believe the OP is rather about creating a windows executable out of his application (jar).
@OP If there is an easier way to do this, i must have missed it. Haven't searched thoroughly though. Gave it up as it looked complicated enough.

AirPort Express / Windows XP / Wi-Fi system tray icon

Hello.
On Sunday I've purchased AirPort Express and have been installed. My MacBook and iPod Touch work correct with router. Its connect to AirPort and get access to the Internet.
But my not primary computer (PC laptop) work strangely. I switch on wifi on laptop, then wait until it connect to router. I have an wifi connection icon in system tray that shows no connection. Try to open any page will succeed.
The question is how to make wifi connection icon work correct and show me when it connects to my router.
When I used this laptop in a cafe with free wi-fi, it works correct and the icon showed me succeed connection.
P.S. hope you understand my English. I'm not from English speaking country and m English may be bad.

If you get your PC to look for available wireless networks, does it "see" the Airport Express wireless network?

Bridge, windows notification area, bridge CC does not appear there

With Bridge CS6 if I tell it to open at startup I get an icon in the windows 7 notification area. But now I have installed Bridge CC and I do not get that icon. Bridge opens at startup but if I close it it is gone until I restart the program. When I had the icon in the notification area it would open faster.
When I go to the properties for the taskbar I still find the CS6 icon but no CC icon.
How do I add the CC icon?
Did abode forget to add the connection so windows 7 can add this icon?

Here's an easy question - how do you compile JAVA source into Windows .exe files (as opposed to class files with bytecode in them). I imagine there is a third-party product out there somewhere?

You can hide the icon from the Notifications Area and it won't appear in the taskbar.

Yes they both are organisational hierarchies - one on your disc drive (folders) , the other in your Lightroom catalogue (collection).
But the big difference is that your folder structure is fairly well fixed (changeable of course by moving, renaming and copying etc) whereas a Collection is in no way dependent on your file structure on disc; it is totally of your choosing as to what it contains. You can modify it without regard to your folder structure on disc.
As an example, you can create a quick collection to use in the Print module, and after you have printed you can delete the quick collection and it in now way affects your files on disc.
Another example, you can search for all photos with a particular piece of metadata, select them and make a collection. That collection will bear no relationship to your disc structure; you can modify the collection and it does nothing to your folder structure on disc.
Yes, folders and collections are organisational stuctures, one is physical the other, for want of a term, is virtual.
I could go on, but I hope that the above is reasonably clear...

Supress Taskbar Notification for Task Sequence

Hi,
We have some optional Task sequences, OSD etc.
We need to stop the icon appearing in the taskbar notification area telling people that things are ready to install.
In 2007, there was a VBS I ran to stop this, but can't see anything for 2012!?
Anyone help?

you can suppress it from the task sequence properties - Advanced Tab - Enable check box "Suppress task sequence notifications".
